Given the recent developments with the USB hub becoming a reality is there any type of USB to HDMI or other display connect plug?
Why shouldn't we be able to have our NC connected to an external monitor?
On occasion it would be great to run Netflix on the Nook connected to an external display.
Hi,
I just received an OEM Micro USB to HDMI adapter today.
I connected my Note to the adapter and then to the HDMI cable of my TV.
Unfortunately there is no HDMI signal on the TV side.
Now, I don't know howto activate TV output on the Note. I don't even know if that's possible.
Can anyone guide me on how to activate HDMI output on the Galaxy Note ?
Should I make any settings ?
Should I play a video ? (or would it give out video from HDMI even at home screen ?)
Should I power the phone and/or the HDMI adapter through USB ?
Thanks.

Connect HDMI cable to MHL adapter, and other end into TV. (duh...)
Plug your charger cable into the MHL adapter. (output won't work without this)
Plug your MHL adapter into Note. (no configuring required!)
Everything you do on your Note will be mirrored on your TV/Screen, at the Note's native 1280x800 resolution. Plain and simple!
Video's that are played via the MHL adapter will be played at their own native resolution, up to and including 1080p.
Enjoy!
thank you.
it doesn't work unfortunately.
maybe my adapter is not working but it passes power through USB.
how can I understand if it really doesn't pass HDMI ?

It's possible that you have a faulty adapter. It should just be plug and play, but you have to make sure that the adapter is receiving external USB power in order for it to work.
ok; it works now.
the micro USB connector was not fully connected...
thanks.
Similar issue
Hi, me to facing similar issue. The MHL adapter when connected does not show any notification on the screen. The only thing it does is charging the phone. Does it mean its a faulty adapter?
i hope i am answering my own question but still if there is anything which i may be missing here

and what rom and kernel are you on ?
I'm on stock running ICS and I get funky results, sometimes it works for a minute or two sometimes just a few seconds. The problem seems to be on the TV, a Sony Bravia, the HDMI setting has to be Wide for picture quality (it has zoom, smart zoom, wide, 16:9 and 4:3) but as soon as there is some glitch in receiving data from the phone the TV begins to scroll through those settings to regain a signal and I can't force a setting on wide for the HDMI connector, only for one of the SCART connectors.
The frustrating part is that it works flawlessly when I connect an Asus Transformer. Could it be the MHL's USB connector? If that is the case how can I check it?

Just in case anyone relooks this up.
Connect everything. Then REBOOT PHONE/NOTE. The TV will then detect it auto.
Hope this helps someone !!
It didnt help me... my sony bravia 32" tv just wont show the gnote's video. the same adapter works fine on my samsung 32" tv but not on the sony. I have even upgarded the sony tv's firmware too. tried changing to "Wide Zoom" settings and other things but still no video showing, although the tv does know there is something plugged in to HDMI port 1.
Anyone else got ideas?
Samsung doesn't like sony!

lol, just don't try that any sony device to work together with another samsung device, this is a general rule for electronic trademarks.
*Frankly my friend, I lost a complete day trying my sony ericcson bt handset to work with my note, no success at all, so, I just bought a samsung one and everything gone well.
that sux, bluetooth is a standard and im sure there are no variants... they are cheap, so i will buy another one from ebay and see if it is bcos of the adpater and not the TV.

This did help me using a Galaxy Note and a cheap no-name MHL adapter I bought of eBay. Had it connected to the HDMI input on my Dell WFP3008 monitor.
mhl n7000 camera not starting when connected

Dear all
I have interesting issue. I was using OTG flawlessly (mount usb memory with micro USB plug, or also regular rush with OTG adapter).
Suddenly that stopped working.
I didn't get any update or change any system settings.
Just I was trying to connect my phone to my car via android auto. I was succeeded and for my second trial I couldn't connect to car.
Then I ve realaized otg also not working. I'm not sure this 2 issue is relevant but it seems so.
When I plug USB to phone, I can see "usb connector connected" on status bar and few seconds later it dissappear and does not mount usb disk.
Do you have any idea what is the reason and how can I fix it?
I'm using stock room (without root) 6.0.1
Thabks for any help in advance.
Hi,
I am trying to rescue my friends S21. He needs it's content (pics, contacts etc). The screen is totally crashed (he left it on cars roof) I have a Dell Displaylink adapter hooked up to it with USB C. HDMI to my TV shows the lock screen and I have tried to connect wired USB Keyboard, wired Mouse and also a wireless Logitech unified to the Displaylinks USB output.. but I get no reaction and can't access the phone. I have the pin code etc, but right now there is no way I can enter anything. Any ideas what I can try? If I could just have enabled USB debugging I could have used my PC and that program that I can't remember the name of that control both screen and keyboars via USB c.
Kind regards
Tommy

Hi, I am running KonstaKANG Lineage OS on my RPi 4 and I set up everything according to this PiMyLifeUp acrticle.
Everything went well until I booted up my RPi only to find out that there was no HDMI output. I can see it boot up successfully as the red and green lights are flashing and after a few minutes they stop. I have it connected to a Samsung Smart TV which turns on automatically when a HDMI signal is detected, and when I plug it to my RPi 4 it just turns on randomly which means the RPi is giving out random blips of signal then vanashing. And yes, I have tried different HDMI cables first it was an old one laying around which then I replaced with a Nintendo Switch cable. I have reflasehd my SD card more than five times and redownloaded the image twice. I also know it isnt the power supply's fault beacause it this one which can provide more than enough power. Also just in case you wanted to know, I'm using a Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter to connect to my TV.
I have a feeling there is something in the config.txt which I need to edit but I don't know what it is.
Please help me I really stuck and I don't know what to do.
Thanks anyways!
**Update**
I tried a different OS (Kodi) but that also doesn't work either. As a last resort I booted to NOOBS but still there was no HDMI output.
Edit: Sry haven't read carefully enough that you tried the switch cable without luck.
Old:
Just a guess, some times those adapters don't work.
If you have a shop were you can easily return stuff, try with a direct cable that can do micro hdmi to hdmi.
Were you able to test the adapter + cable on other device, to see if it works?
