Where are the location of the default ringtone? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I look in the \Ringtones folder for the default ringtone and they are not listed.
I want to extract the "Chime" ringtone from the Note 4 and import to my S6.
Anyone know how?
Thanks!

You can set the ringtone if you edit the contact and set the ringtone that you want.

i go the the contact , push on Edit anf then i saw only the ringtones that was before.
Did you try My documents/My Ringtones ?
tnks, its work.
but how can i change the default folder for the ringtones?
the main memory is very small and i want to put my ringtones on the Internal Memory(4GB)
can you help me'?
up
somebody?
Put them either into \Internal Storage or \Internal Storage\My Documents. That works 100%. Good luck!
As above, did you try My documents/My Ringtones ?

can't set ringtones after upgrade

I just upgraded my rom to the official AT&T Windows Mobile 6.1 and my ringtones keep changing back to the windows default ringtone and also when i add a ringtone to the windows\rings folder it does not show up when i go to select it. Same thing goes for contact ringtones. Is anyone else having the same problem?
I found a solution. I edited the registry and changed the HKEY_Current User> ControlPanel > Sounds and deleted the key of FileSizeLimit.

SMS / text message notification sound

When I go to the settings to change the incoming text message notification there's a list of sounds to choose from (like "alert1" "alertglass" stuff like that). I tried looking through the file explorer but couldn't find this folder, I was wondering if anyone knows where it is so I can put some of my own sounds in there to use as notifications? Thanks.
all the files are in \Windows. they are system files so you will need to tell explorer to show all files so you can see them. if you want to add more sounds just drop the file into \Windows.
they have to be wav format too don't believe mp3 works
i have been able to use wma and wav file for notification.
p.s. put ringtones in \My Documents\My Ringtones\
I managed to use my own sounds in the events and messages alerts, loading them in Application Data\Sounds

Custom text tone

Hey all,
I have had an Xperia for about 6 months now and one thing that i have been unable to do is set a custom text tone. For some reason it will only let me select from the default tones. I would be grateful if somebody could guide me to a way round this so i can set my own text tone.
Cheers in advance for any help offered.

Where is your mp3 song? it must be in the root directory of the SD Card or inside Xperia "My documents" folder.
Then you should be able to select it on settings --> personal --> phone

No, it does support mp3 for notifications. I currently have an mp3 for new sms.
it does support mp3 tones.
For text tones you have to put it into the Windows directory folder.
For call tones you have to put it into the My Documents>My ringtones folder.
where is the windows folder you have to put it into? sorry im new to all this
open your file explorer.. go up until u are at My Device. there you can see windows folder, open it and paste the mp3s or audio file(s) that you want them to appear in the text tone setting..
lol cheers that was well easy

Custom SMS tones...

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone can please explain how to set an mp3 or any other custom audio file as the notification/sms alert tone?
Also... Is it possible to set custom SMS tones for each contact (in addition to the custom ringtone)?
Thanks for any help.

There are folders already on the phone for ringtones and you can set them via settings/sound/ringtone .. They show up there, at least they show fine for me.

What file format have you had success with? Any limit to file size or track length?

I use mp3, 320 kbps and the ones I use are about 30 seconds long, I have no idea though what other formats it recognises, or lengths ... Only my own experiences
Aweome, thanks for the help AllAboutTheCore, for some reason I could not get it to work at all last night, but I just tried again now and.. success.
Thanks again.
If you make a folder called Media and inside of it you place Notifications, Ringtones, Alarms, you will keep them apart. Male sure to initialize a Media rescan or reboot to get them to show in the system picker.

Hi altimax98,
Thanks for the reply. Currently I do have those folders (Alarms, Notifications, Ringtones) but they are all in the /sdcard/ directory. If I move those 3 folders into a "Media" folder... will the phone still be able to see them?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Creating an appropriate Notifications folder as suggested elsewhere is a good idea, then find the mp3 (for example if you've added it to the phone) in ES File Explorer, open the file you'd like (with the ES audio player), then tap the options button (3 dots along the title bar), and from there you can "Set ringtone" - you can choose to set it as ringtone (calls), notification (messages) or alarm.
Once you've done this, the tone will show up in the ringtones and message alert tones list to choose from in the usual way (settings).
As for individual contact tones, a ringtone can be assigned from the contacts (People) address book, but not SMS tones as far as I know. There's an app, GoSMS that looks good but I haven't used it so couldn't say for sure.
Hope this helps.
