Hi all,
Just got the OTA update this evening on my simmered unlocked Nexus 6.
Update was successful, but I've not been able to show any contacts, or open SMS threads since. I use Handcent but have tried the stock messenger and hangouts, no change.
When I restore my sms from backups on new phones I'm used to it taking hours as I've got 40,000+ messages, but it seems odd...
I'm also not receiving any sms messages since I updated...
Can anyone suggest anything? I've Googled it but found nothing yet...
This may not help, but delete some messages, there's no need for 40,000+ messages I guarantee that I don't care if your the president.

On my God delete them
Turns out it was just similar to restoring them - I left it overnight and they're okay this morning...
As for deleting them, not a chance lol, I like to reminisce... 39,000ish are with one person...

Yesterday i was sending and receiving text messages normally...then after i cleared all my messages.. i was unable to receive messages (People asked me why i never responded..it was because i never got them)
im using duttys v3 right now ( still having trouble installing v4)
any ideas?
Are you sure your not looking at your deleted sms folder or your outbox or something? Switching back to inbox is the solution then.
It's just something that can be easily overlooked...
nope because on the people's phones that sent me messages...it said sent on their phone... i didn't even get a notification of a text on my phone...
I'm rooted and running bugless beast v0.4. My phone said my text message inbox was full and that my phone was low on space. I dumped a few apps off on to the SD card and deleted all the text messages. I also tried unsuccessfully to add the new R2-D2 boot animation around the same time. I don't know if i somehow deleted something important when i was in AndroZip deleting the R2-D2 stuff or what is going on but I can no longer receive text messages. I can send them out and everything else works fine. I tried a few different ROMs in ROM manager with no luck. I've since switched back to Bugless Beast since i think it is unrelated to the problem.
I wiped data and cache and it starts working again but after all my apps finished downloading and installing, it quit receiving text messages again.
Auto-retrieve messages is check marked.
I've found out that I can receive picture messages but not text messages. I have an unlimited data, text, and picture message plan so it isn't that I have reached the limit of text messages this month or anything.
I have used Handcent exclusively pretty much since I got the phone. I tried uninstalling it. That didn't help. Reinstalled it and that didn't do anything either.
Does anyone have any ideas what is going on here? Thanks for any advice you can give me. - Kevin
have you tried sending messages to urself? is ur message center properly configured?
Yes, I've tried to send messages to myself and it doesn't work. And I'm assuming everything is configured correctly. As far as I know I haven't changed anything.

contact ur telco provider and ask them about this. coz it seems to not originate from your side.
Well, I had an update to the Norton Mobile Security App this morning. After updating, everything seems fine. I'm able to send texts to myself and I've received them from two different people. I don't know if Norton caused the problem in the first place or fixed the problem I already had. It never popped up saying it found any problems so I'm guessing it was just a bug in Norton. I checked the comments in the market and no one mentioned having that problem though so I don't know. I'm just glad it's working now. Thanks for your help guys.
The problem lays probabely in your internal memory being to full. I've heard people with similar problems on the Milestone. After deinstalling some apps it all worked again. Your problems also begin when you have reinstalled all your apps.
Maybe you can move more apps to your SD since, I presume, you have a Droid.
I've got plenty of space. I've moved apps, deleted old texts, etc. none of that fixed it. Its been fine after I got the norton app update though.
The R2D2 boot animation likely filled your /system partition, this happened to me so I moved all the system sounds to sdcard keeping the folder structure intact and all is well. Just remember your phone won't ring if your sdcard is not in the droid afterwards.

Hi everyone, so I have been using google voice for text messaging for the past 5-6months with no problems and lately once in awhile my texts don't get through. I know this for a fact because I would also login to my voice.google.com on my computer and see unread texts and then for some reason my phone will receive the message. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Hi guys,
I am trying to restore my texts from my N5 to N6 and they restore fine but the timestamp for the received texts are all wrong, hence texts all over the place.
I have tried everything I know to fix this but nothing works, I have even tried to backup texts I received today and enabled the timezone options in the menu from the SMS Backup & Restore app but still does not work. It is reading today's received texts as yesterday. My sent texts are fine.
Anyone else had an issue like this?
Thanks

I would try the Go SMS app to backup and restore your texts. I did this a while back on a different phone, and recall the phone apply a "time fix" after restoring the messages to make sure the times were correct. You can install Go SMS on your N5, do a backup, put the backup file on google drive, Dropbox, etc. Install Go SMS on N6, download the backup file, and restore it in the Go SMS app. Once restored, proceed to use any messaging app you like, and uninstall Go SMS.
OK. Will try that on Monday as a friend is borrowing my N5 this weekend
Navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases where you'll find mmssms.db. Copy this over from your old phone to your new in in the same location and fix permissions so that both the owner and group have read/write permissions.
I've been using this method since Gingerbread and it's worked on every version of android since then.
You can also take telephony.db to transfer your call logs and blacklist.db for any blacklisted numbers.
Hope this helps.
You could always use titanium backup. Works for me

I have a T-Mobile Note 9 and recently updated to pie with the official OTA file. Ever since I've updated, all my messages don't send right away. On regular text messaging, I've been getting texts hours late and sometimes my messages are being delivered late (even though on my end it's sent). Especially on group texting. It's happening on Telegram also, where my messages don't seem to go through and I have to force close the application and open it again. But the worst problem is with the WhatsApp messages. 50% of the time, I will send a message and it just shows one tick mark (not delivered). And I've tested this with many contacts, even another phone I have at home. Eventually after a while, the messages will show two ticks. Usually , if I initiate a WhatsApp call then the messages will change to two tick marks right away.
Has anyone else had problems with sending messages after the pie update? I think it's weird that it's happening across apps.
Thank you in advance!
