Hi,
I flashed my beautiful smartphone with CyanogenMod, then I decided to go back to stock. During this latest step I forgot to backup the EFS folder (I was neither knowing its existence!) and now it is corrupted (in About I have a Baseband unknown). How to fix? Is there a solution? Is there any hacker here??
Thanks a lot

Try flashing the stock radio. You didn't tell us your model/carrier so I could not link the firmware you need.

Hi, thanks a lot for your answer.. I have a retde XT1092 and restoring to stock using the Motorola guidelines didn't solve... I opened a thread also in the Motorola forum:
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/bc9598199a?commentId=992184#992184
Especially these didn't solve:
$ fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
$ fastboot erase modemst1
$ fastboot erase modemst2
$ fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
from:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
That is the wrong firmware. The xt1095 has a different radio. You need the radio from this file:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/3oippfwh4oil/VICTARA_RETDE_XT1092_5.1_LPE23.32-25.3_cid7_CFC.xml.zip
The instructions are the same. Just use this ones radio.

Yes I know that URL ! I always restored from there using XT1092, tried with kitkat 5.0 and 5.1 without any success ...
Well if that didn't work, then I assume it is either your PDS partition that is corrupt, or a hardware failure. If you didn't backup your PDS partition there is no hope to fix it yourself. You will have to most likely bring it to a service center to get it fixed.

Nothing?

It is possible.
Download 4.2.2 T-Mobile xt1053 firmware and flash system.img and boot.img via fastboot. Backup all data of your internal storage. Then erase your userdata via fastboot. Then reboot.
Commands;
mfastboot flash system system.img
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot erase userdata -w
Everything will work. but you will see 4g icon instead of 3g or h+ even if your connection have 3g. Don't forget to deactivating ota and don't install 4.4.2 update with ota(because I don't tried it and also don't recommend it)
You can upgrade it again to 4.4.2 with same method but you don't need erase userdata if you upgrade to newer version.

1. Battery on 4.2.2 is excellent compared to KitKat for me.
2. Don't touch any bootloader or radio files (baseband). 4.2.2 will run on KitKat baseband with no problem.
3. Camera updates comes via play store and there is no way brick phone with a update of play store app if you not like the updates you can uninstall app update.
And use mfastboot(Motorola fastboot) instead of normal fastboot.

And make sure you have $350 in your pocket, just in case. You're taking a very big risk. Many have bricked downgrading. Some thought they knew how, but made one false move...and boom. Paperweight.
Just a friendly warning.

With 4.4.2 the motoboot (bootloader) and GPT.BIN got updated. At least these two (and possibly other parts) prevent a 100% successful ROM downgrade to 4.4 or 4.2.2.
You can try to do as proxuser has said, and use mfastboot to flash only certain parts... BUT *IF* it is successful, you will have intermixed versions on your phone, so if you try and take an OTA in the future, it will fail or brick your phone.
I've also seen reports of people who downgraded only system and boot having issues trying to go under... Settings -> Security on the phone (it kicks them back out.
There were enough posts of bricking when downgrading from 4.4.2 that the general rule it is too risky to try.

Can't safely downgrade any moto x that is currently on or above 4.4.2.

Flash a compatible SPRINT baseband:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
then erase modemst partitions
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst1
then reboot
fastboot reboot
Do you have service now? If now, you will most likely need to flash the ENTIRE stock Sprint SBF. Remember to NOT*** attempt to downgrade. Only flash the same, or higher version than what is installed on the device...
Also note that once you erase modemst partitions, you must repeat my entire sim-unlock procedure....

when I flash the NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn , it said :'(bootloader) Variable not supported!' but then says"OKAY...finish..."
..It's this a problem?
and the first time I flash the 4.4.4 kikat , accidentally flash the baseband, then I reflash the baseband version between 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 system.
Will I brick the phone? I can still see IMEI NO. I just try the the 4.4 baseband still not work.

"Variable not supported" is totally normal.
Why are you flashing a 4.4 baseband? Flash at least the 4.4.2 baseband and try again...
You aren't at risk of bricking unless you attempt to downgrade motoboot.img or gpt.bin (Don't do that...).

the reason why I try the 4.4 baseband , is others are not working.
I only flash the baseband part, did not try the motoboot.img and gpt.bin.
so whats the solution now?
I have zero experience with the motoboot.img or gpt.bin.
can I flash it with the fastboot?

You have obviously misunderstood me....
I said that you should NOT*** flash motoboot or gpt (as downgrading these will result in brick).
Why not just try using RSD Lite or full manual method to do a complete return to stock? Find the thread in "General" titled "Return to 100% stock".

Remember: Do NOT attempt to downgrade (can result in brick). Only flash the SAME or HIGHER version of what is currently on the phone. If you are on 4.4.2, only flash 4.4.2.

Retail US TMobile MotoX 2013, XT1053, OTAed to 4.4.4, BL unlocked. Phone is still in fastboot [connected to my macbook] with gpt partition from stock and everything else from XT1052_RETAIL-DE_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF
I want to avoid bricking device and get it to work at least somehow (CM, stock, dev edition, anything). IIUC, I am looking for either TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4.4 or GSM Dev Edition KK-4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.29.1-2 (Retail) MR4 firmware files.
How did I get there? Through series of mistakes. In my naïveté I decided that moto was very friendly to people who bought their phone for full price and makes it very easy to flash my hw with whatever I want. So,
1) I read few posts and went cowboy and manual-flashed everything in RETAIL-DE_GHOST_KLA20.16-2.16.2_cid7_CFC_1FF (4.4.2) via cut-and-paste:
mfastboot oem fb_mode_set
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot erase customize
mfastboot erase clogo
mfastboot oem fb_mode_clear
This flashed everything but gpt and motoboot partitions. At this point I have gpt and motoload from 4.4.4 and everything else from 4.4.2
2) While trying to understand why 1) failed I realized that I did something rather dumb (downgrade motox one must not!). At this point I am just trying to restore moto x to anything that works, preferably stock.
3) I tried (just for kicks) flashing TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4.3-KXA21.12-L1.21_MR4_CFC but this still is a downgrade and doesn't flash.
4) The only 4.4.4 rom I could find close enough to US TMO Retail moto x was XT1052_RETAIL-DE_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF. I tried flashing that and almost succeeded: everything flashed fine (even motoboot) except gpt.
5) I searched high-and-low for TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4.4 firmware but no-one has it.
6) I also read that XT1053 can be flashed with dev-edition firmware, but when I go to motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images and request download - I am shown "you need permissions" message and "request access" button. When I click latter - nothing happens, no emails, no access, no nothing.
/rant Why did I want to flash to begin with? In general, I am quite fine with stock SU TMO moto experience. Except it only has 4 languages: English, Spanish, French and Portugese. I wanted to gift it to my sister who lives in Germany and does not speak any of those 4 languages. 4 is too low!
Here are the TMO 4.4.4 Files: http://www.drdevs.com/devs/samurihl/FXZ/TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.29.1_MR4_CFC.xml.zip

mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
I can't follow the rest as I have most of the files missing, and now whatever I try to do it boots on Fastboot with the message:
version downgraded for boot
failed to validate boot image
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from normal boot mode
Anyone know how to fix that?
You need to flash back to a full image.

Any idea where I can find it? I come from the Nexus line with all the images on Google's website, I have to admit that now with Moto I'm a bit lost, in addition to being not-that-clever.
It's probably worth noting that it's the uk version of the XT1092.

I have recently rooted, my device. Thanks to CF. But in the whole bunch of flash coding, just make sure you are not flashing your modems. Below are the commands I had avoided while flashing the rom.
$ fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
$ fastboot erase modemst1
$ fastboot erase modemst2
Now, in case of yours, you can try to flash with modem of 5.0 or 5.1 but I would recommend to go-ahead with 4.4.4 since that was original.
Incase if you failed to find it, then try with 5.0 or 5.1

I have recently rooted, my device. Thanks to CF. But in the whole bunch of flash coding, just make sure you are not flashing your modems. Below are the commands I had avoided while flashing the rom.
$ fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
$ fastboot erase modemst1
$ fastboot erase modemst2
