a few days ago my fiance was complaining her basically stock Nexus was rebooting into a bootloop - where it displays the loading X and vibrates and then reboots and repeats every few moments (a few days after her doing the system update)- if I remove the battery for a few minutes then put battery back and reboot it will boot into the OS where it will stay sometimes for a few minutes othertimes an hour or more before going into the bootloop- so I told her I would attempt to flash a new rom. after many hours of messing with the phone and attempting to access the recovery it just will not work- the phone just goes into the bootloop - exactly as mentioned above. I have used fastboot to flash new images (userdata, system, boot, recovery etc) numerous times and it still does the same thing- crashes and reboots into the bootloop from the OS randomly and bootloop when trying to access recovery. I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue (the phone is only 3 months old) but the company i bought the phone from is stating it is a software issue and not covered by tehir warranty.
Problem is I unlocked the bootloader while messing with the rom's yesterday and am now concerned they wont honour the warranty anyway- does anyone have any suggestions as to anything else I can try? As far as I can tell as I cannot access recovery I cannot install any other roms..
Please help- otherwise I will be posting a yourtube video of me destroying a basically brand new nexus one- I really am that frustrated....
a bit more info- it was rooted but still had locked bootloader when this started- rooted using onclickroot or something- which after the update it wasn't rooted anymore- I am wondering if this has caused some low level conflict somehow- I have rooted again using superoneclick - and as stated have unlocked the bootloader.
is there any way to flash a rom using fastboot or adb on this thing- I would hazard surely there is but amongst all the information floating around for this phone I cannot find out how- I am thinking maybe I try and load cyanogen 6 or something if I could work out how to flash a rom using adb (because njo matter how many times I try to flash different recovery images it wont boot into recovery- I can access fastboot etc but as soon as i select recovery I get the bootloop...
and before I get flamed I have spent three days searching and reading and attempting everything short of voodoo witch magic. I thought my X10 was a P.I.A. to root and flash etc but really it was simple compared to the trouble this phone has given me..
I am wondeirng if some of the rom's are incompatible with some hardware- and I don't quite understand the whole radio thing either... can someone explain that?
BTW Im not a total noob- I have been around for a while without an account - then have had this account for a while but mostly just read the forums as I have no real input and knowledge to give...
...help!
Can no one help?
I have managed to get into recovery (by putting the phone in the freezer for ten minutes at a time to reduce the temperature and stabilise it enough to run for 15-20 minutes at a time)...
Have flashed different kernels this way and nothing is stable- it still bootloops because of heat....
I contacted HTC Hong Kong (it was purchased from a Hong Kong company) and they have told me there is a $350 fee to repair it as its a UK phone. Now the phone is exactly 55 days old not three months and I am really really frustrated.
Does anyone know if its worth contacting HTC UK?
I have friends in the UK I can have them send it in and recieve it from repair....
Someone please help- even if its just a comment of "just smash the damn thing..."
Thanks guys sorry about the long self centred posts but I am ready to destroy this phone- it doesnt have a mark on it either- any ideas what its worth for spare parts?

You have to use older bios .

I work on a fix for the Front Camera "bug" that plague the first X98 with BIOS/Firmware 1.07 and higher. I bricked my tablet one week ago so I wait to receive the CH341A to unbrick it, I should resume the work to fix it as soon as I unbrick the beast
Just follow me I will post the progress on XDA
Thanks, I'll keep the subject, will generally or here? sorry for my english
The X98 have a number of different front cameras and the front camera on my X98 is a HM2056. During the Win10 upgrade process the incorrect driver gets installed (OV2680).
Unfortunately after updating to Win10 I deleted the backup copy of Win8.1 to free up space, before extracting the HM2056 driver from the old Win8.1 folders.
Hence is it possible that another user who has a X98 with a HM2056 camera could post the drivers, or post a link where they can be downloaded.

both cameras are working in Skaype 15-20 seconds and hang up
Hello, gentlemen! Sorry for my bad English.
My device: Teclast x98 Air 3G, ROM 64 Gb (C5J6), dualboot: Android 5.0 (root) and Windows 10 (home), BIOS 2.16.
In Android 5.0 there were problems - both cameras are working in Skaype 15-20 seconds and hang up, switch the camera back to working for 15-20 seconds and hang. In hangouts both cameras are working properly. Maybe somebody encountered the same problem and solution?
P. S. Please, write a review, who put the latest firmware mirek190_rom_v6.0 - android Lollipop on the same device as the camera work in Skype?
Thank you.

Hi,
Any progress on fixing the front camera?
My tablet came with 4.4.4 and win8.1 bing. Later on i updated to Win10 and 5.0 with Mirek's rom. Chris did a post on the inaccurate battery on Win10, but i can't find anything about android.
http://techtablets.com/2015/02/x98-air-3g-battery-meter-fix-7-stuck-issue-one-cell-reported/
With the stock rom i got an awesome battery life, almost 8 hours of SOT with my personal usage.
http://i.imgur.com/gnXPD2Q.png
Then i flashed Mirek's rom the battery issue reveled itself. I'm sure that his rom has nothing to do with this.
http://i.imgur.com/rYLt8OL.png
http://i.imgur.com/A4txAQX.png
It's the same thing like in Chris's post, i lose a lot of percentage pretty quickly then it stuck around 7% and i'm still able to use the tablet for 2 or 3 more hours. I tried to do a good old battery calibration, but no luck there.
Actually I have the same issue, but could not find the solution :/ . I was wondering if it would not be better to just a buy a new battery one with 12000mAh so that I can get even more usage time.
I had the same issue, I just went back to 4.4.4 and haven't had the problem since.
I have the same problem under bios 2.02 and mirek's rom lollipop 5.0. Interesting thing is that at the beggining this problem didn't appear after immediately installing the rom somewhat it appeared at a certain moment but I don't know what was the trigger. So as far as I understand the only fix is to revert back to 4.4, it's ok to keep the same bios 2.02 or I have to revert back to original 1.07?

Did you got an answer for the bios question? I'm giving few more round for Mirek's lollipop 6.0, and i will roll back to 4.4.

I don't have a screenshot, but i was able to use the tablet for 2 more hours after that, and still had juice in it.

It persists.
Which BIOS do you have? I got the same problem. Android "destroys" the battery-metering.'
I'm on BIOS 2.05 and Mirek 6.0... Unfortunately.
When did you buy your tablet? I think its a manufacturing problem (by teclast).
I have the same problem with a C5J6. At the beginning, the meter was correct. After update to Mirek Rom, the meter was innacurate (ok from 100% to 40%). I've updated to a Stock rom again an the issue persist...

Same for me. It worked well 'till I flashed Mirek's 5.0 on C5J6. Maybe we have to flash the older version (Anrdoid 4.4.4) + flash the BIOS again to solve the problem. Anyone tried?
Like it or not, but this issue is goes back to Mirek's rom, even if i'm on 4.4.4, the problem is still there. Sadly not even the stock rom can fix this. :\

I hadn't update the BIOS with the Mirek190 ROM. I only update the ROM
Enviado desde el móvil
Maybe with Mirek's 5.0 or 6.0 the BIOS has changed especially the metering system got damaged. So perhaps flashing again BIOS 2.02 after installation of old ROM (4.4.4 or Stock Rom) can fix this issue? I will test it in a few days. I don't know whether it will work.
The problem is also that I can't find any solution in any forum online. Doesn't look good for us.
I mentioned in this post that I've the unusual drainage in battery stats below 50% and that happened in stock Rom which was android 5.0 fisrt and then happened also in Win 10 , I flashed mirek's V6 Rom and the same problem persist .
I bought the tablet in October and it's model is C5J6 comes with android 5.0/win 10 , bios 2.05 .
Is it possible that it's a hardware problem regardless the software installed because the total discharge hours of the battery is normal but the battery stats is the problem here , I've tried to use battery calibration apps but with no result .

This was my first and only run with the stock 4.4.4 when i got the tablet. As you can see it's totally fine. The most annoying thing is that i'm unable to get nearly as high SOT since i moved to Mirek, thanks to the wrong battery reading. So imo this is not just a hardware problem.
http://i.imgur.com/HzDozSy.png
Edit: weeell maybe i'm wrong, if you check the image there is a huge "wall" near to 40%, so maybe idd a hardware problem.
Hello everyone,
I had the same battery meter problem also and unfortunately Mirek's lollipop ROM was the problem.
But there is a catch! If you simply go back to 4.4.4 stock rom the problem does not go away! You have to follow a certain procedure! (Tested on C5J6)
The first step is to follow the known battery discharge method to restore the battery meter in windows as follows.
-Boot to windows
-Run (powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0) in elevated cmd and then fully drain the tablet in windows until it shuts down.
-Let it charge while off overnight (at least 8 hours)
-Boot to windows and verify that the maximum capacity is reported a little over 30000mwh with AIDA64 or HWmonitor. (If not, repeat the previous steps until you get it right)
- Hard shut down by pressing the power button for 15sec.
-Boot to dns mode (by pressing Vol+ Vol- Power button together) (BE CAREFULL NOT TO BOOT in Android else you will have to repeat everything!!!)
-Flash the stock rom 4.4.4. found here ([email protected]@ps://mega.nz/#!cAgwQZRK!8tyuToPfnXq3EE8ZB7zEB3mR2RLRnFjaIvWJvQfqNCc) (replace @@ with tt for the link to work)
-Let it boot to android.
That was it!! The Battery meter should be back to normal and will not go bad again if you boot to windows and back to android!!! Chears!!
If the battery meter problem annoys you as much as it did me then you have to live with the stock ROM!
I have not tried if this works with the official lollipop rom so if you do, please report back.

Hey everybody,
I do own a X98 Air III (M5C5) and after long hours of reading on xda I am wondering if there is a single documented case of succesful installation of a dualbooting system on the M5C5 model. Most seem to fail at flashing Mireks ROM in the first place. The lack of clear, concise instructions looks to me as if there is no safe way of flashing this particular model right now. Does this sound right to you or is there something I overlooked?
Thanks a lot!

I have successfully installed the dual boot v1.00 after a softbrick trying to install the 2.02 bios. I think the issue is that your tablet is not rooted, that is why you cant flash android. Look @ the ionioni tool to unbrick soft-bricked tabs on how to flash that dualboot bios. Keep reading you will get there

Well, you flashed the BIOS and - as I was stating - first of all softbricked your device, due to lack of proper instructions. There is absolutely no comprehensible information on how to correctly flash or modify this model of the X98 Air III on these forums right now.
Also: did you simply install the 1.00 dualbooting BIOS or did you succesfully install both Andriod AND Windows at the same time? I guess flashing the BIOS can be achieved but again: theres no information on how to properly install Windows & Android on the M5C5. Anf if there's people like you out there who've done it, I don't understand why nobody bothered to document their process and share it with everyone..
Thanks!

Installing Windows and Android is the easy part, once you get the dual bios working. Look at this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/help/unbrick-bios-softbrick-withouth-eeprom-t3285054) to find the files and how to flash them. The only duil bios avaliable is that v1.00. When you successfully flashed that you can install android in dnx mode with partiotion tables with less than full partition size (I personally used the 3gb partiotion, you can find it in mirek190 roms) and than you just attach a otg hub with a bootable flash drive with windows 10 32 bit(never go for 64bit - you will brick), boot in bios by holding Esc on your keyboard (that you also have connected to the hub, as well as a mouse btw), than select the boot drive (you can find a tutorial @ Techtablets youtube page).
I have swapped between the v1.00 dual boot bios and the 2.05 android only bios a few times, and it works fine. Read all the posts in the page above to better understand how dual boot works.
Good luck!

Hi, thanks for detailing things a bit. :good: Is there any major disadvantage to using the dualbooting 1.00 BIOS as opposed to 2.5? Missing features? Other relates quirks with the 1.00 BIOS? I was wondering since you swapped back and forth with both versions.
Thanks!

Hi, there a few problems with the 1.00 dual boot bios and I think its because it wasn't meant to be used with the M5C5, our version of Air III is supposed to be Android only and we are basically hijacking the bios from c6j8, that works but its not perfect (at least for me). The main issues I have encountered is not really with any of the device capabilities - the cameras, wifi, hdmi and everything else works as good as it was intended but sometimes I run in to troubles when switching on the device. When I let the battery run out I will not be able to turn the devise on until it is charged up to 40% (that takes around 45 min) that can lead up to a few minor heart attacks the first couple of times you encounter that. The way I deal with that issue is by never letting the battery run lower than 20% so its not a problem for me but if you use your tablets in such a way that they run out of juice constantly I would suggest you just stick with the android only bios - the one you currently have or the 2.05 version (you might already have that on your device).
Now the advantages of dual boot are many - I believe Windows is a superior OS, in the way that it gives me a lot more productivity and multitasking capabilities that I personalty enjoy. For some reason the volume goes a lot louder on Windows than on any Android rom I have tried. I do believe we should get the most out of our devices and that's why I stick with dual boot for now. It is far form a perfect solution but everyone that reads this should evaluate the pros and cons - if you don't mind the stress of not being able to turn on your devise for 45 min or so you might enjoy the dual boot (or might be able to find a better dual boot bios).
As a conclusion experiences with Chinese tablets always vary from one to the other and it might be just my unit that is faulty (the boot up issue) so all you do is at your own risk, but if you keep on reading and trying out solutions you can get a lot of stuff working (just remember to breath)

Well that was very helpful. I might consider simply replacing stock android with mirek190 v7.0 at this point. It seems having Windows 10 available is not worth the hassle for me, when it comes to the bootup issues you described. Thanks for clearing things up significantly for me!
Is there any proper dualboot bios other than v 1.00 for M5C5?
Hi folks,
I ordered a Air III a week ago and I haven't got my hands on it yet. But from what I found researching the forums is that there's a version of 2.05 bios that's been reported working with the Air III. Refering to the following 2 posts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98...m-bios-x98-air-iii-32gb-t3310436#post65204355
Then I downloaded X98_Air_2_android_5.0_mirek190_v7.0-ultra-light, replaced /data/BIOS/2-05.bin with the one from the above mentioned link (https://mega.nz/#!dYxVTQrL!J9h-bk-hW...8TF6XXr-JwpgdU). Then I launched FLASH_tool_Teclast_x98_air_devices-v3.0, hit 4, then hit 2 and select 2.05. It updated the M5C5 to the most recent BIOS. You can tell because the tablet doesnt start up displaying chinese letters anymore but instead showing the latin letters TECLAST
If you want to keep your Windows installation I believe you have to change partition.tbl but not sure how this would work . I'm Android only now.

The only I'm not sure is if I have to (or can) flash Mirek rom using MFT BEFORE flashing the bios so it's pre-rooted.
Can anybody confirm this (@mrchrister ?) and also if you need the tablet to be rooted?
Thanks
Hello @ all
I just rooted the tablet just like it was described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/development/x98plusandroid5-1mirek190v1-0-rom-t3342466/page1
Everything works fine and I'm happy to have a rooted Teclast X98 plus 3G model A6C9.
So far, so good. I have some problems with figuring it out how to install TWRP, because there is one for this tablet but I'm not sure, if it would work for my specific model A6C9. If I had a working recovery, I would install several things like Viper4Android or XposedFramework....I'm not even sure, if it works with 64bit x86, but it should , because there is already a ROM from Mirek with XposedFramework and Viper4Android...
Also I would like to know, how the software is working on this tablet, because there is a normal UEFI BIOS and a Bootloader which let us to pick an OS...but there is no recovery or something else. Would be very interesting to know something new about this piece of fascinating electronics...
What should I do to install my favorite applications on this tablet?
I'm very used to Viper4Android and the XposedFramework on my old HP Touchpad which has excellent speakers and even a newer Android (Marshmallow)
I would be very happy if anyone could explain it to me how it is done and tell my something more about the Teclast X98, I would really appreciate it ????
Thanks in advance !
Any idea? No one? Come on, I don't believe that there is no one out there who doesn't know something?
