Hello,
Im kind of new to this, so sorry if i say something derpy. I installed CM 12.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe.../rom-cyanogenmod-12-neo-s-homebuilds-t2967819) and everything is amazing, except one thing - data connection is acting really weird. Whenever I try to load up YouTube app or anything else, really, that doesn't use data connectivity continuously, it always shows that there is no internet connection. The icon is there, and it kind of works, i tried speed test, and it showed full LTE speeds (even tho it did take some time to find the "best server"). Wi-Fi works just fine. I tried downloading APN settings from my carrier, but that didn't help. It worked just fine with stock android and my last ROM. I'm using unlocked Xperia V LT25i, European version. I haven't seen anybody else complain about this, so if someone could help, i'd very grateful

Hi guys,
Since yesterday morning my phone has been on G (edge/gprs) only instead of 3G (hsdpa) like it was almost always before. I'm on voda uk with good 3g signals in London and phone is showing -51 to -65 dBm (22-31 asu) which i think is good.
Also my wifi that always worked is also not connecting anymore...what gives? Regarding wifi i mean it connects but home page doesn't load any more on constantly refreshing even once. It does on my laptop on same wifi signal.
I have just updated normal apps like handcent sms/linda manager etc. since yesterday and restarted phone many times and done nothing drastic...so why these data problems all of a sudden?? Thanks
Carrier: Vodafone UK
Country / Language: English (UK)
OS / Browser / build number (if applicable): update 1 - stock rom
Tried soft reset by pulling out battery...on restart phone showed 3g for a second before wifi kicked in...still no page load...after switching off wifi it again went to G only!! Damn I don't wanna have to lose and reinstall all data/apps!! This so irritating..I love this fone and this is how it treats me!
Lunacy!
Now the fone automatically goes to 3G UMTS/HSDPA (wifi off) but with atrocious signal strengths of 0 dBm or -111 dBm with 1 or no bars!!!
I always get awesome signals in my room arnd -55 to -69 dBm and all 4 bars so what the hell is going on!!
Is this vodafone's issues or my N1 is dying slowly!?
Back to G n no wifi use!
Any help anyone?? please!
Not sure how to help you, but I thought I'd mention this if it's at all related:
my phone has twice now shown that it's on Edge connection, but run at 3G speeds. Not sure what the bug is but I ran a speedtest and was able to stream Pandora and browse the web without any trouble.
thanks for that but i'd sure love to see some pro's to help me out!
sounds like a carrier issue... however if you are rooted, try reflashing your radio and see if that helps and you may want to try each radio out as well
wifi is working today with full signal but on mobila data it stays on G with full signal but 3G sometimes with 1 bar or no signal...wtf!

When was the last time everything worked correctly? What have you do with your phone since then (different rom, different radio flash, new mods that alter system files, etc)? Have you tried calling your carrier to see if they are having problems in your region?
Nandroid backup, factory restore, reflsh cyanogen, test. If it works again you've got some bad setting stored. I can't help you find that setting but at least you've narrowed it down.
If this is affecting your wifi, then it's not a carrier issue. It's something with your phone.

2 days ago all was well. I just updated linda manager/handcent sms and 1-2 apps from market. I'm on stock rom so no radio etc. for me and I don't mess with system files and keep my phone clean by clearing caches etc. Thanks anyway.

Do a factory reset or a full wipe through recovery. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then let us know.
So I have a Nexus One (AT&T/Rogers) and recently rooted it and installed Cyanogenmod 6. Since doing this I have been unable to use wifi on my phone, it connects and has a good signal but web pages simply wont load. Will updating the radio fix this?
Radio has nothing to do with WiFi. Kernel does.
I have not been able to find anything that would help me fix this. Could you please help me? My problem is really odd, the wifi says that it is connected and i can do basic stuff like Facebook and engadget but I cant browse the web, download apps or watch youtube. All of this stuff does work over the cellular signal.
Hard to say anything. Are you sure the problem is on the phone side? Did you check other WiFi networks, have the same symptoms everywhere? Did you check other ROMs? Did you ask in CM6 thread?
I have tried several wifi connections but not other roms. If anyone does have another suggestion please post.
Hi all,
I've had SGS for over 8 months now on O2 Contract, UK. Currently running on Darkys Rom. Everything was great until yesterday morning the mobile internet has suddenly stopped working!
I've tried everything; Re-setting the correct APN manually, Switch on/off, Taking battery out. Called O2 & and tried to reset with their assistant but none of it worked. The network seems to be up and running fine on their side.
The symtoms are; I do have the 3G icon on the bar (Displaying 'H'), since I usually get a good strong signal in my area. The problem is, when I start the browser, the google.co.uk webpage works ok-ish. But for any other sites, doesn't work. Can't access email or facebook or anyother internet related apps. All connections fail.
I have other O2-Simcard. And when I try to use internet on my SGS, the same problem occurs. (Websites load less than half and everything stops) The sim cards work fine in my other phone.
Could this be a hardware problem?
I didn't drop or anything, I've been taking a real good care
Somebody please, please help!, Please.
You say Google works therefore internet works .Errors are possibly elsewhere in settings .
Worth doing a factory reset after backing up data to see if that clears the problem .
As its yet another Darky rom problem i suggest asking Darky if above fails .
Hardware probably not blame the rom or settings first .
You will have to remove the rom if you need to make a warranty claim .
jje
I agree with JJ, this sounds like a ROM/Settings problem. If you can get Google, then your hardware is fine. An Antenna failure is usually all or nothing.
Maybe check in Settings/Wireless and Network/Wireless Network Settings/Network Mode and make sure it is still in Auto mode, or switch to 3G only?
As a last resort, flash to a stock rom and see if the problem goes away.
Thanks, guys! JJEgan & rschenck.
Network mode has always been Auto mode & I tried all options but no luck..
The thing is, the 3g internet has always worked fine with Darky Rom. It's just that this happned all of sudden.
I guess I'll try factory reset first, if it doesn't work, I'll then flash to stock rom.. Glad to hear it probably won't be the antenna failure.
I'll keep posted after I try!
Hi guys, I'm still at work so haven't had a chance to do anything.
But magically! I've just put my other (PAYG) O2 simcard and the internet now works! However, still not as good as before. (Slightly laggy)
I was using Darkys 9.3 when the internet stopped working properly, so I upgraded to 9.5 hoping that it would fix the problem, but no help.
Since that it's working now. It seems internet connections is slower than when I had 9.3. Well, at least it works now. (Kind of)
Hi guys,
My wife has a SGS, with which she is really pleased. Lately, 2 things happened. Firstly, I installed the Simplicity X-mas edition - it runs perfectly and is blazing fast.
Secondly, the company she works for switched to another operator. After this happened, all of a sudden she cannot sync her apps or even visit Android Market on the 3G network. It works fine on WiFi, but not on 3G.
She suspects it's because the company she works for has put a firewall on Android phones, which is a likely cause of the problem.
What I would know now is:
1: Have you heard of this issue before?
2: Is there a fix for the issue, given it's an operator policy (I'm thinking running everything through a proxy server etc, but how to do that)?
All pieces of advice are most welcome - thanks guys
Sounds like wrong APN settings... Not a firewall.

i agree, try manually going through deleting all the existing APN's and adding her new network APN, if that doesnt work, or before doing that see if she can access websites while on data, if she can its clearly not an APN problem as she wouldnt be able to access the internet at all.
if that doesnt work all i can suggest is a re-flash of the ROM, also you might want to consider updating to ICS simplicity xmas was JVU i believe? get with the times man
I've Mi 9T Pro with MIUI 11 i also tried AOSP ROMs and MIUI 10-12. When i restart my phone mobile network is off and says "No Service" but after a while (sometimes 5 sometimes 30 mins later) mobile network becomes online. I tried everything i even replaced another IMEI but it still same. My SIM works on anothers phones perfectly, other SIMs are same on my phone. First i start using it i didnt care cuz i wasnt really restarting the phone but now some weird things happen. Like after network is on i can connect to LTE and use internet but cant call someone nor they can reach me. It is really weird and strange. If i did everything right IMEI should work perfectly which it does just not right away.
Quick note: I noticed that when im on AOSP ROMs network becomes online much faster but on MIUI it takes a lot longer.
What can i do ? Did anyone experienced something like this ? I started thinking there is something wrong with motherboard now.
EDIT: also forgot to mention that i went to a trip while ago and when im literally at the top of mountains my conection says no service really quick tho my friend with exact same phone with exact same carrier has 4G and can connect to internet even if his net goes he can make calls so
Hmm....stupid question: why do you need to reboot your phone? You shouldn't need to do that but maybe once a week to keep things speedy.

i dont need to do that. I like going around and testing magisk modules new ROMs etc. so i probably restart a lot often than usual user XD but the problem isnt that, i didnt have much problem with this, like i said sometimes even if network is on i cant call anyone but can connect to internet thats what bothers me TBH
