Best place to obtain malware free stock ROMs - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Newby question
Hello, folks, where is the best place to obtain malware free stock Samsung ROMs? There are two sites I've seen with stock* ROMS for my carrier, buy I'm not sure how safe they are? I've searched the forms and can't find a concise listing of the best sites to obtain stock ROMS from. Two sites I've see that I'm curious about are:
Samsugupdates.com.* &
Sammobile.com.
Any help will be appreciated. Tx

Sammobile.com is free of malware/viruses

Thank you for your quick response, I haven't been back on the board. I ended up getting a ROM. I haven't run the phone through its paces, but I have upgraded it to the most current OS. Have you heard iv any issues with the AndroidRootz site? Again, thanks for your response.

Everything you need can be found here on xda. I would be skeptical about downloading a rom from almost anywhere else.

As stated by other users, this is the place to get roms for your device. I've been using xda for years and have never had any issues related to security from any rom on xda built by any developer here on any device I've used. Additionally, in almost every case, roms here that aren't stock or have been built from stock sources will implement security and bug fixes before stock OTA updates.

iPhone Power User to Android Noob: Few Questions...

Sorry I'm a little noobish when it comes to Androids (trying to come over from an iPhone).
I understand rooting. But... Can you tell me advantages/disadvantages of all these ROMS? Do some have the latest radio firwmare and some don't? I thought I read I could also modify these ROMs as well. I would appreciate some insight. Thanks

You can do anything. If you read the forums you will learn a lot more than any 1 person here could ever teach you in one post. Happy reading.
P.s. posts like this are frowned upon around where when you could have searched.
ROMs are just modified versions of the standard firmware the developers that make them bundle certain apps with them and make some slight changes. IIRC they are all rooted.
I think the radio firmware can be updated seperatly as i downloaded the HTC radio directly from the HTC website.
There is a thread here that tries to chart the differences between builds (the name "rom" is kind of a misnomer).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517506
Also, for community ("hacked"/"rooted") builds, they generally don't include the radio. You would update the radio and bootloader separately. The official builds tend to include radio and or bootloader updates.
http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5692
This should help you out with any information on Firmwares, its alot better then a stupid chart.
Just do yourself a favor.. Do not Flash before you read the entire thread. Because you may find your new G1 is a brick.
If you want something or want to upgrade SPL or Recovery or Rom Make sure you competely read the thread you may find that other users that have previously flashed that particular item will give feedback.

that link also links to the same "stupid" chart. btw that chart is great for deciding which build suits your needs the best
I was sorta kindling.....
My thread has all the information and MORE. The chart is helpful but you can't get any helpful links with it. My thread has information/my thoughts/ and updates on how to find the newest firmware.

Updating custom ROMs

Hello,
i suppose everyone in here are using a custom ROM.
And also everyone here goes through the forum to see for any updates...
Is there a way to have an application that would notify us for specific updates for every ROM? It would've been cool to see how many downloads each ROM has, also any new updates and thus through this it would be easier to understand which ROMs are downloaded the most...
I am not a developer so i don't know if this is possible.
Thanks

The developer has to integrate it into his/her rom though.

Where can i found Official ROM and Question about Root.

Please, could let me know if there are pure official roms for HTC Incredible S ?
And the program to install it ?
I did not find, I'm new to the forum and I searched but could not find one.
So far only found customizations.
Second question:
If I make the root HTC Incredible S, I lose the OTA updates?
Sorry my english, i'm from Brazil and dont speak very well.
----------> EDIT:
OK, I found the official rom. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922).
How to know which should I use?
I want a rom without customization, (and the program to install )?
And about the root, i lose OTA updates ?
Welcome to XDA, i see it is your first post.
i would suggest going through the Android development forum and checking out all the ROMs there.
Not sure why you are looking for 'pure official ROMs'
if you have an IS & you have not done anything with it, then you are using a pure & official ROM.
i guess you now are looking for a 'pure & great ROM' made by some quality development here.
yes, you will probably not receive any OTA as you are no longer on the stock rom.
even if u can do not update. the rom developer will provide an update soon.
go have a look & see which rom interests you
also, EVERYTHING you need about almost every query is answered... either in the general or development section.
Look around or use the search, am sure you'll find what you looking for
happy rooting & romming!

Nexus 7 3G stock 4.1.2 ROM

I heard some people got their device with 4.1.2 on it. Where can I download this at? I can only find 4.2.1.
No one?
Look - or, Search - it's all under the N7 "Development" tab or section here on XDA - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736578
It has direct link to Google's site/server for the full official image
Assumed that you know what you are doing and familiar with using one of the available tool kits to simplify it somehow - have fun, enjoy & good luck.
Otherwise, read first, go slow amd tale notes, sip your coffee before plunging back into jelly beans i.e. Stickies under Q&A section

None of those links are for 4.1.2, just 4.2 and 4.2.1

My bad - you are looking for a factory/stock 3G model firmware image for the N7 ??
Hmm, according to Google's official links here - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
None was ever released/available - unless it was an experimental/unofficial alpha or beta one ... sorry, wish I could've help you on that
And, your source being reliable ?

I'm not sure if they were reliable, thats mostly why I'm asking. It's possible no one got 4.1.2, but I figured it was worth asking. Thanks for your help.

You can't find factory firmware for N7 3G with 4.1.x because it never existed in the first place. N7 3G came out with 4.2 on board.

[Q] Lost root after flashing Android 4.3

Hi guys, I know you have tons of rules here and I tried my best to respect all of then by searching for a thread containing info on what in looking for but I couldn't find one. I rooted my phone a couple of years back and have been flashing various ROMs since. About a week ago however I flashed an unofficial android 4.3 ROM by CyanogenMod and after that once I discovered how buggy it was (as per the developer's warning) I decided to flash something else. However I couldn't access my recovery menu no matter what I tried and it looks like I've list root but I can't be sure of that. Ask the root apps aren't working and I got a toast from one of them saying you need root access to use this. Right now what I want is a way to either reroot or maybe there's a simpler way of solving this problem. If I could access the recover mode menu I could use the conventional way of rooting but right now I can't even di that. I'd really appreciate a solution if any of you could take the time out to give me one. Thanks so much and I really hope to hear from you.
I assume you flashed Chas' rom. If you could just read the op.... Chas gave everyone a soultion on a silver plate..
er.sorry

To be really honest I'm not sure whether it was his ROM or not since I got it from a YouTube instructional video. There was a direct download link. Do you think you could please do me a favor and point me in the right direction to the solution? Losing my mind here since it's so buggy

Go to Chas' Asylum thread in Android development, and use the search option. He gave the solution on 8th of August.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
At me it worked.
And saw it posted in a 4.3 thread/post
You have to disable and re enable it in developers option in settings.
And then try root privilege using apps to check if it worked like type su in terminal
