Any fix yet for the awkward behavior of the fingerprint scanner after 5.1.1 update? It succeeds almost 1 out of 5 times. ...
It is frustrating , embarrassing and irritating to use....almost thinking of using other security methods and resign to this poorly implemented feature....

I have no problem and am running 5.1.1. Are you sure it's not defective?

Seems to be a 50/50 issue. I returned first 9.7 tab s2 for the same problem and it exists on the 2nd as well. Others report no problem. Only solution is to revert to 5.0.2 for now.
It seems we will have to wait for marshmallow in order to get some samsung's attention to this issue that seems to affect many of us....shame
Enviado desde mi SM-T810 mediante Tapatalk
It works great on both my so phone and my s2 tab. You might try relearning 3 or 4 different fingerprints.
I have no problem on my Tab S2 9.7 inch LTE phone... but of course i still am running the stock version 5.0.2 ...
Others tried logging the same finger 2 to 3 times just to get a better percentage of acceptance... that seemed to had worked for them.
...
As some advice from friends,
I just register my Right Thumb (most used thumb) twice at different angles, and it works really great. Hardly missed!
Workarounds workarounds.....thanks for the ideas but we must agree that's not the idea...Samsung just give me something that works....
Enviado desde mi SM-T810 mediante Tapatalk
Mine works fine without any workarounds, I have 5.1.1. I trained it and use it with a very light touch, just enough to flatten the thumb skin on the sensor, nowhere near enough force to click the button. It mostly works on the first try, maybe 10% of tries need a second attempt.
PS you can use it to log into the Lastpass app, really nice!
Yeah. With 5.1.1, the fingerprint reader blows. I generally get forced to type the password in about 60% of the time...
With my tab, the finger print scanner has gotten slushy over time of use, it has been work ok, but not perfect before, has anyone had the same problem.

Hi, I want to share my experience with a Nexus 7 2013 which bought to me a friend in USA (I'm from Spain).
It is made in China, June, and it has every touch problem described here: maps rotate, multi-touch with only 2 fingers, Swype keyboard problem (the draw was continuously cut off), the screen didn't recognize my finger, and sometimes ghost pulsations.
Well, I sent the tablet to the tech support and today is back.
The report says:
Problem: Touch Screen Function Error
Replaced part: LCD + Front + GPS module
Note the Gps module replaced which I didn't referred.
Now everything is ok and screen works without problems. And all of this with the J compilation.
Clearly, my experience indicates that the Nexus problem is a hardware problem, and Asus knows perfectly the problem.
Cheers.
I think you meant to post this in the General Section for the Nexus 7 2013 which is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2408

Finally got back on Samsung after a break from my Note 3, with a Note 8, carrier unlocked U.S.. One thing I miss is having full screen call/contact pics. For the life of me I cant figure out why they would make the contact pic so small when making, receiving or in progress of a call. Its pretty close to the size of the send/end call button. I guess maybe its a Nougat thing, because my V20 was the same way. Question is, does anyone have any insight into a remedy for this. Non-Root remedy perhaps.. Any themes or anything of that nature that may exist with full screen caller ID/Contact pic. Thanks in advance
You could try this. Although not full screen, but a little bit better..

Same here...Waiting since s8 got oreo beta...
@RequeLine any hopes..
It was best during Note 2, 3, 4 days where really we used to have caller image as that of size of screen size. Developer like Poppuri had best of it. Now a days all half screen image are seen in Oreo custom roms except some apps in play store.
Figured I would drop back in on the off chance that someone has come up with a fix. The link in this thread worked fine until Oreo came around. And as of now, only the European version has the capability of larger contact/in call pics. Anyone have any luck with US unlocked version?
i installed the xda nobar app and sometime around then i lost the huawei navigation bar
i have tried all the options, one by one, removed the nobar and zero position
the circle navigation does show but the 3 symbols at the bottom are gone
went as far as resetting all settings. zip
i do not want to go to a factory reset if someone can help
the offending adb entry was adb shell pm com.android.nobar android.permissions.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
if someone knows how to remove this line using adb i would gladly try it to see if it does return the navigation bar.
much appreciate someone's help
thanks guys

Ok, you need to install xda nobar app again and give adb permissions. Then open the app and chose the option to disable it. Go to your nav settings and choose navbar and it will be fixed. I had the same issue and fixed that way.
thanks for the idea. will give it a shot tomorrow
seems you've been using it, what is your impression
is it worthwhile to root. my s6 edge was rooted and i used nemesis, it was ok but the lack of ram was a killer
what is your opinion so far and any special tweaks or site for special tweaks, i am the tweak freak i like to squeeze the most experience,
i was looking if android p would be available soon, the next thing that i found discouraging is the lack of developers creating some original rom for this phone,
thanks so much

The app was a little laggy to be honest, right now I prefer using the front fp for navigation.
In the future I would like to have gesture navigation, I used it on Op5t for four months and was very cool. Anyway the fp navigation is great on this phone.
I already have the bootloader unlock code but I will wait cause I had a change of heart about root in the last few months. I can live just fine without the 5 or 6 root apps/tweaks I used the last few years.
Using Funky Huawei I'm on the 128a rom with May Security patch so is great ATM in that front.
The phone is too expensive to lose warranty so early so I'm hesitant right now and also Treble ROMs and so on are in their infancy so maybe I will regret it if I do.
Also I change phones too often ( every 2 months or so ) and the resale value will go down if I open the bootloader. On the other hand I had the 5t for 5 months, a personal record for me in the last 5 years so maybe i'll keep this P20 Pro for longer and then I will not give a sh## about losing warranty so who knows? Lol.
For the time being I'm really happy with this phone so I'll keep it stock.

good news to report, followed your idea and the bar is back
unfortunately i donot have the chance to change so often, i am very bad at selling anything in ebay and truthfully i usually go for hi end and nothing of late grabbed my attention. usually it's one thing or another that is not included and i lose interest. apple is against my religion. i live in a country where everything is monopoly so to marry the ugliest of monopolies, not anytime soon
th + phones (+6 coming up) it's almost there but they leave off something to keep it cheap. for instance in this era of hi speed internet idont see how manufacturers leave off the ac or sometimes the 5 mhz band completely that's just nuts or the lg with it's "unique" roms that has no developers, the samsung is good but the small ram craps the phone if you happen to have many apps, like me. i used nova and because the number of apps, nova bonked very often. so this phone although sadly the gorilla issue may be an issue,
another point, i updated up to 120 but i cannot update beyond the huawei firmware app tells me of 120c i do not know how to go about he update
where did you get the 128 and how did you load it, can you help
much appreciated

The firmware is region dependent, for most of Europe if not all the most updated firmware is 120 at the moment because is the only firmware signed/approved by Huawei but the 128a firm also exist just is not approved at the moment so if you try to flash it will fail.
I used Funky Huawei ( is a paid service):

I have a CTL29 C432 btw.

This is a well known feature they have removed. It's not news.

Or, don't fiddle with the developer options, as you've stated in your own post.

But you're not using Android 8, anymore, are you? You were talking about Android 9 and so was I. Samsung removed the dual camera feature in Android 9, just like they have removed a great many other features, as well. These things are all well documented across the treads on this forum. It's nothing new.
FFS why didnt I read the CONS of the pie update...
I lost the dual camera, i lost the call recording options for what?
For Samsung UI?! Sure it looks better but.... its just UI
I loved this feature, the apk worked fine on 8. It's one feature I really miss. Does anyone know of an alternative that works well on the note 8 pie?

People need to stop being Iphone users. Back in the day, I recall they tried to remove the SD card with the S6. We didn't buy the phone.
Sales did horribly and Samsung said sure, we will put it back.
Now, everyone is flocking buying the S21, sales doing pretty good.
On top no one goes and tells Samsung on Twitter anything.
Samsung wants to make IPHONES.
That's their goal. That's why they paid millions to BTS singers just to get the fanbase.
I finally got around to installing the One UI beta on my Note9 but now i've literally spend all night trying to pair my Galaxy Watch back with my Note9.
I'm stuck in this cycle of the watch permanently saying "Check your phone to complete setup" and the Note9 bouncing between saying "Finishing Pairing" and Smart things recognizing a new watch over and over...
I've factory reset and wiped all wear related apps data/rebooted over and OVER. Any ideas? Googled till my eyes feel like they are going to bleed. Ready to call it quits.
Do you have a watch wipe?

I've done it a few times after installing 3 different pie versions. Currently on Tmobile and it did take a little longer to connect.
Try deleting your backup on samsung cloud backup. after installing gear wearanle app,ake sure it has all the permissions.
