Hi, I have the Moto G XT1063. Some minutes ago I received the OTA for Lollipop 22.21.25.en.us version . I started to download it, but I wanted to grab the link using my PC as hotspot and using Wireshark but when I cancelled it I was told to go to System/Check updates to update it again later, and when I tried to update it again I got the message saying "Yout device is up to date". I tried different Wi-FI networks, USB update via Motorola Device Update but no update found.
Did this happened to any of you? Could you resolve it? How?

I got the OTA notification on my XT1064 earlier today at lunch. I am rooted (TWRP, Xposed, debloted) so I know it would fail anyhow, so I cancelled it...I am counting on the fact that we will have CM or slim for the phone soon.

I had the same thing happen to me for the last update when I was on vacation a few weeks ago. I had spotty hotel WiFi so I decided to cancel and try again later. Still haven't had a second chance.

Wow, WEEKS? I've already waited 6 weeks. I thought I would get the update in a day again but it doesn't look like I will.
I guess we will have to wait until the official version comes. I like how Motorola keeps their phones updated but their way of updating them is horrible and they have really dissapointed me. I hate the rollout being in phases and on top of that when I finally received the OTA after more than a month waiting and tried to update it later I cannot get it anymore! They must be joking! Besides, I don't know why they take so long! What's the mystery Motorola?

They keeping everything in secret god knows why or 2 russian engineers.
Even who is invited to soak test shouldnt talk about the update. I think they hate Europeans, because the difference between the two device (the EU version and the US one) is minimal.

Motorola does the same stage rollout update methods as Google, although personally I find Google to be much worse.
They do this to steady the flow of updates (to save their servers some stress), and to catch early bugs that are noticed by the first or second 'pool' of users.
Apple does this right in my opinion. Once an update is pushed, every single supported iOS device can update immediately.

The same thing happened with me when we get the first sw update (stock launcher - Google Now launcher) I tried a lot but I was not able to update it. After 2 months I did a factory reset & then tried to do a system update & it worked I again got an option to do software update!

Sorry but I don't find what you've said as a solution. I definately don't believe that waiting 2 months after you received the update is a solution. I think that you got the OTA for a second time.
I will not do any factory reset: doing a factory reset DOES NOT do anything. In fact it changes an unique Google ID that Motorola uses to update their mobiles phones and could actually reduce your chances to receive the OTA. This was explained by a Google engineer- So for anyone reading this DO NOT FACTORY RESET your phone. Let's just wait; we are already in the batch-

You all can force OTA.
Go to settings => Apps => All => Find google service framework.
Clear cache and data of it, stop the service & then reboot the phone. Then again try to check for update.
Do it couple of times if did not work on 1st try.

NO! That's actually the same as doing a factory reset or even worse. It's a myth proved wrong. Just google "google engineer OTA" and you'll see how the rollout is done. I can't post links because I'm new here.

Thanks for letting me know, that was an interesting read.

Finally I got it today. It didn't show up as a notification but I checked for updates and Lollipop 5.0.2 was there! Jumped from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 (412.3 MB). It's very nice. I believe Motorola is rolling it out officially since it showed up in the System updates check.

Wait... So you're saying since I rooted my phone with TWRP I have to then not accept the update and THEN wait even MORE? How can I use it now? i.e. is there anyway of reverting it to where I can use the update.

T-Mobile says update rolled out. Is there a way to force?

T-Mobile began rolling out 6.0 on October 5th. It states in the instructions to perform the update manually is essentially performing the android check for updates however I get no prompt to download the OTA.
Has anyone found a way to force the update? Possibly resetting the device?

I'm literally going to beat a dead horse but why, are even Google's devices subjected to this ridiculous update process? If someone wants the OTA then they should be able to get it..

I am rooted on TMO and did a manual update to LYZ28K a while back. I clicked on Check for System Update just for kicks and it downloaded a 23.2 MB file. Any idea what that is?

There are methods you can use when manually flashing to not lose data. (Don't flash userdata.img) be it through fastboot cmd directly, or through the use of a toolkit like Wugs.
OP, save yourself the headache and just download the update and fastboot it. It's a unified image so there is no need to wait for a "specific" version.

Am I going to lose the ability to get future OTAs if I go this route? I've got an unlocked bootloader.... But not rooted and completely stock ROM.

You can still get OTA's as long as you're not rooted. Unlocked bootloader doesn't matter. Anyways, even if you did root, you can just manually flash the next update the same way. Takes less than 20 minutes to do.

We do, it's called the factory images that google provides, we get the updates immediately (had 6.0 on release day), if you want to "wait" then it's only on you, the means are out there to get the updates right away, otherwise, gotta wait for the carriers. Android isn't and doesn't seem like it'll be like the iphone, independent from carriers as far as updates. Unless Google grows some nads and lays their foot down, this is how it will always be sadly.....once again, unless you just get the update and do it yourself like maybe 80% of the community here.

While II respect the fact that the majority of the XDA community is willing and capable to erase all data and side load 6.0 this isn't something that should be accepted in 2015. I'm not asking for Google to be like Apple, but for a Nexus device, a device designed to offer the latest and most up to date version of android, to be forced to wait for weeks for a proper OTA update is just ridiculous. I simply laugh at the android 6.0 articles that the tech blogs are releasing when 99% of the user base doesn't have access to the software.
Like I said I know that this has been discussed time and again, it's just hard to believe that a company as mature and advanced as Google, can't get an OTA rolling out to all 5 million Nexus 6 owners when Apple does in fact provide the latest software, on day one to multiple hundreds of million users. Nope, you don't have to erase your data to sideload an update (keep in mind that sideloading an OTA isn't possible if you have root, custom recovery or custom kernel). You don't even have to erase any data (provided that you don't need to unlock your bootloader prior to flashing) if you flash a factory image (even though it's nice to clean out the old system once in a while).

Of course they can roll out the OTA to everybody at once, but they don't want to (and I agree). Check out this article (2 years old, yes, but the base principle still stands):

You don't have to wait weeks. You have to potentially wait days, sometimes it is hours. Soon someone will snag the OTA url, if they haven't already, and then you can use ADB to sideload it without needing to wipe anything.
I haven't been following too closely, but I actually haven't seen anyone that has stated they have actually received 6.0 OTA yet. Some people posting they were, but they were getting one of the security fixes. Maybe they actually haven't pushed the OTA to the Nexus 6 yet for some reason?
Like I said I know that this has been discussed time and again, it's just hard to believe that a company as mature and advanced as Google, can't get an OTA rolling out to all 5 million Nexus 6 owners when Apple does in fact provide the latest software, on day one to multiple hundreds of million users. It also has nothing with Google's ability to roll updates out to all of the Nexus owners. It is how they decide to stagger their updates out to people. They do this to make sure everything goes smoothly. If they put an update out that causes some sort of major problem, it would suck if it was in the hands of every single user, rather than just 1%.

The only update I received today was LYZ28M sadly. Not sure why they don't just have an app where people can download Nexus updates any time instead of OTA.

I got all the important stuff backed on Drive and most of the time I get all back even without backing it up

has anyone with at&t get marshmallow yet

i have LMY48M build number , anyone get it yet or am i better off flashing a stock image

I have a Nexus 6 on AT&T with the same build number as you. I haven't received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update yet either. I'm new to Nexus, so I'm not sure how long it takes for AT&T accept the update. I would probably wait for about one more week and if it hasn't come to you by then, then yes, I would flash it.

I was notified that the OTA was downloaded and ready to be installed this afternoon about 4:30 PM EDT. I haven't installed it yet, I'm still waiting to see how gaining root access plays out.

same as always. if you havd root, you can not apply an ota, it wint work. if you don't have root, you can take it, then root your n6 just like any other nexus ever. 1 unlock your bootloader, 2. fastboot flash twrp recovery, 3. flash supersu in your new recovery. that never changes on any nexus, since google makes it easy for us to root.

After further reading it looks like the update I have is to LMY48W, not MRA58K.

My dad has AT&T and is still waiting for the 6.0 update on his Nexus 5. He's still on LMY48M and it says his phone is up to date. He won't let me flash the factory image for him either....

I got my Nexus 6 from Amazon but I have AT&T. Do you guys have HD Voice/VOLTE enabled? I did a live chat with them yesterday and said because I don't get my updates from them, I can't use it even though it's in my area. I have the apn nextgenphone showing up, just not getting hd voice.

I am on LMY48M as well. I bought mine unlocked from Google but am running it on Cricket Wireless. Does carrier matter on how long it will take to get pushed out?

Not sure why they said that...the Nexus 6 isn't listed as one of their HD Voice capable phones. Until they get their act together with that, no one on AT&T will have HD Voice on the Nexus.

I got the MRA5BK update on my Nexus 5 on 10/8 on AT&T but am still waiting for it on my T-Mobile N6 and my N9.

Mine automatically updated to 5.1.1 when I first set it up.

I just made mine update by removing the Cricket (AIO) SIM.
Stopping the google framework, clearing the data.
Performing the CHECKIN.
Then is started to 5.1 and then to 5.1.1
Seems strange why it didn't start by itself.

And then to marshmallow? If so, could you elaborate on the ?

It is kinda connected though, as it looks like it depends which SIM you have inserted to whether an update happens.

The guy I was referring to said his was stuck on 5.0.1.

Why is my Nexus 6 not receiving updates?

I've just taken my phone out of box, this is October 2015, and the moment I opened the phone first it started overheating and second I checked for updates and it says "software upto date".
The software is stuck at 5.0 and I don't know why I'm not receiving a single update when it's the time people are getting Android M. I've a Nexus 5 too and it's up to date to Marshmallow while this one is still stuck at 5.0 Lollipop.
I guess this has got to do something with the OTA feature and I want to fix this instead of flashing OS manually. So please tell me what to do now.
Till now after many Google searches I did twice reset of my phone and cleared data cache everything of Google Services Framework, but still nothing is helping.
Just 1 day old nonrooted nothing ever did, everything's from my side fine, just not understanding what to do.
Please please help me soon, I'm regretting buying nexus 6 now!

Where did you buy your phone from? Are you sure it is not running a custom ROM? Is the bootloader locked?
Keep the phone connected to the internet (WiFi or cellular data), and sign into your Google Account, and wait another day. It may take a day or two to get update notification.
Edit - depending on your build#, you can download the OTA files and sideload them using ADB (don't need to unlock bootloader if that is a concern), or the faster option would be to just unlock the bootloader, and flash the latest factory image.

im on my 3rd day on my nexus.. but im not losing hope.. im still waiting for the ota.. its on 5.1 lmy47d...

So here is something funny. I was waiting and waiting for 6.0 on my nexus 6 for days. Never came. I have friends that have the same phone on the same carrier and they had already received their updates. So frustration and being impatient had gotten the best of me and I decided i was going to side load the update. In order to do so you need to unlock the boot loader which will wipe all of your data, EVERYTHING. When the phone rebooted completely wiped i went through the initial set up and it wasn't 5 min later the 6.0 update came rolling in like no big deal. WTF. I don't know why it wouldn't find it on its own but i wouldn't. Needless to day that is what I did and ended up getting it in a round about way. Maybe give that a try if you get to impatient and at that point if it doesn't show up just side load it. Hope this helps

google gives us factory images for a reason. if you arent patient enough to wait for an ota, just flash a factory image yourself, instead of starting threads about how you arent getting an ota. whats the point of a thread about you not getting an ota?

Sideloading the OTA using "ADB sideload" doesn't require you to unlock the bootloader.
Unlocking the bootloader is needed if you choose to flash the factory image file instead of the OTA file

I got mine today and its on android 5 Doesn't want to update either, keeps saying its up to date. Haven't done anything yet with the phone. Looking now how ADB Sideload works.

I've bought it from an online retailer Flipkart in India.
I'm sure there's no changes made in phone and it's original and is as a new nexus 6 should be. Just this software update is causing me problems

Well I'm damn impatient, if I'd 5.1.1 and waited for 6.0 I'd have definitely had some patience, but waiting from 5.0 doesn't make sense.
Anyways to the point, after listening to your story, I tried same thing, clearing cache and reset from recovery mode, but still it didn't help
Hope there's some other resolution to this now.

I suspect it was your post that I responded to, at another forum - but you have two options really
1. Unlock bootloader (wipes data), and flash latest image
2. ADB Sideload OTAs one after the other in the right sequence (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/ref-nexus-6-stock-ota-urls-t2906493 for OTA URLs) - check your current build and choose a path to get to the build you want

When Will I get Android 7.0 OTA?

Should I have gotten this already or is there something possibly wrong with my situation? I've searched online and it seems like I should have gotten the update already. I appreciate any help.

You should have had it by now (unless you have modified your phone in any way that might interfere with the OTA process)
Your best bet would be to sideload the OTA from https://developers.google.com/android/ota

When my Australian carrier delays updates I used to change my SIM to a foreign one (cambodia, vietnam, thailand, or whatever) and the update used to immediately appear. The SIM doesn't even need to be active.
Now that Google publish the OTA files, it's easier just to sideload it.
Anyway, try a different SIM (t-mobile or whatever you can find locally) and see if it appears (you need to reboot). Otherwise, Verizon only just approved the update a few days ago so might take a while to roll out to you.

I think that there are a lot of N6 (mine is on T-mobile) out there that have not seen an OTA. I got the 6.01 November secuity patch last week. Was expecting 7.0.

I went ahead and did a sideload of the OTA 7.0. This won't break any future OTA updates, will it?

Ah.. I'm kind out of the loop these days, but I thought the Nexus devices got their updates straight from the Google. So I figured the carrier had nothing to do with how or when you got your updates.

The updates come from Google, but some carriers in some countries require an approval process (it's the same for Apple iphone, but is done more seamlessly and under NDA). Here in Australia, any devices sold by a carrier must go thru an approval process to make sure the software doesn't violate any compliance regulations (such as ability for emergency calling when no sim is present). Once Google get the go-ahead, they push the update to the phone with the relevant sim card in (or in some cases the IMEI). This can sometimes (dependant on current software version) be bypassed by changing the sim to one that doesnt require approval or has already been approved. Bear in mind however, you may get a software build not intended for your carrier.

Hey, thanks! I guess I just needed to wait a little while longer haha. I just finished the sideload and everything seems to be working well. Do you know if the sideload process somehow breaks future OTA updates?

Nope, the sideload doesn't break future OTA updates (however it theoretically could if you flashed a build not intended for your carrier, however usually Google just send a 'Full OTA' which a large download to your device to get it back on the correct build).

So ive been rooted since u bought the phone when it came it in 2014 and have sideloaded any updates and i received the 7.0 notice OTA and i figuredbid just see if it would update. It did and then i list root , wh?? Im green with Android but i struggke through it to get ehat i need done so im sorry if this is a noob question.

Was the 59 build first series.
I was rooted with SuoerSU.

I always lose root when flashing an image or installing an OTA update. It is normal for that to happen. You just need to root your phone again by installing SuperSU . The latest version is SuperSU v2.78 SR5 and can be found here.

I joined (then left) the Beta program so i can get a stable release of 7.0 Nougat a little over a month ago. Good so far but what I'm concerned about is security patches. Ever since I got on Nougat, my N6 no longer gets OTA security patches. I'm still on the October security patch. Anyone know what's going on?

Regardless, even with a mod'd phone, I got the 7.0 nag 2 weeks ago - which spurred me to wipe everything and flash it with NRT.
