Root T-mobile LG G4 - T-Mobile LG G4

Hello: I have the T-mobile LG G4.
I tried rooting using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
But when I try to run the SEND command I get that error message where the dll is missing. So, I downloaded the dll and saved it in the LG_Root folder and than I get a different error.
Are there any other ways to root the T-mobile LG G4?

Install lg flash tool should work after that'd
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk

I have been looking at both threads, what LG flash tool to install?

What LG Flash Tool am I installing first?

First off you are in the wrong section, this is a Dev section. Read instructions carefully, that link you posted covers EVERYTHING!

But that does not help with the SEND command errors.

That link does not tell me where to download the LG flash tool.

No one is going to reply?
I will not at all under any circumstances be able to root because these errors are preventing me from rooting. And no one has been replying to help me fix the errors so I could root.

Exactly what error are you getting?
I'm going from memory but it's a Windows or Visual C++ DLL you are missing. I'll try to find it.
update:
If you get "MSVCR100.dll is missing" error, install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable package for your Windows machine. There may be a more recent version.
update 2:
Try this method to root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/h81110n-stock-rooted-image-t3191038

I'll try that.
Regarding update #2. I am not on 10N base. I am on H81110h.

Yes, only try version #2 if you're on 10n, not 10h. You have to update to 10n before you try version #2.

Oh, sorry but I did try visual C++ the other day for x64 and I still get the missing DLL file error.

[Q] TWRP errors while trying to flash CyanogenMod

I have been tearing my hair out for about a week with this problem. I'm sure the answer is here somewhere, but I'm a novice and I don't understand phone developer vocabulary. Hopefully someone can link me to a solution to my problem.
I have a Verizon LG G2 (VS980 4G) and I'm trying to install CyanogenMod on it. Here's the info from the software page in settings:
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband version VS98024A-M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046
Kernel version 3.4.0-perf [email protected]
Build number KOT49I.VS98024A
Software version VS98024A
I have followed these steps so far:
1. Rooted with towelroot
2. Installed SuperSU and BusyBox
3. Used AutoRec to install TWRP 2.7.0.0
4. Downloaded CM-10.2.0-vs980.zip to /sdcard/Download
When I boot into TWRP recovery and try to flash the zip from there, I get the following error message:
"assert failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Download/cm-10.2.0-vs980.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/Download/cm-10.2.0-vs980.zip' "
And then when I try to reboot the system I get an error that shows the LG logo with the words "security error" underneath it, and the phone won't boot up. After that my only option is to do a factory hard reset, go back into TWRP and restore my backup.
When I bought the phone it was on Software version VS98027A, but I thought that might be the problem so I used the LG flash tool to download and flash the kdz file for VS98024A. This has not given me a new result, sadly.
I have read the install instructions on the CM page, but they describe an app called FreeGee, which I guess is supposed to install ClockworkMod. FreeGee says my phone isn't supported. CM's directions say if FreeGee doesn't work, I should use AutoRec, but they don't follow up with any TWRP-specific instructions. I have googled and youtubed for several days, but everything I find shows directions on how to root and install recovery, yet nothing on how to deal with this particular error message. Whenever I do find a thread that seems like it might be helpful, I can't understand the technical jargon involved.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Here's my advice, go back to stock again, the LG flash tool. When that completes, use Freedom Tools (its in Development) and use ioroot25 (link is in the aforementioned thread) to root device. Then use Freedom Tool to install twrp. I've used it many times and never had a problem. Re-download cm rom (perhaps bad download) and flash in twrp. I would suggest using a more current twrp (start with 2.7, DL newest twrp, flash, reboot recovery) then flash cm. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks for your help. I followed the ioroot and freedom tool steps no problem, but I don't know how to update twrp. The g2 isn't listed as a supported device on their website or in the twrp manager app. I searched the forum and found a thread about updating it, but every time I try to download the files, I get a message that says the download failed.
I downloaded a fresh copy of cyanogenmod and tried to flash with twrp2.7, but I got the same error message from my original post.

Huh, ok, well, first off here's the thread for twrp, make sure and flash the correct one for our device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2898705
Second, have you tried a different rom? I remember reading that jackpotcalvin's is the cm to use. Try his or a completely different one, just make sure and follow the op (some require different radios, just follow the op). But I would definitely upgrade twrp before trying anything else.

Okay, so thanks to the link you gave me, I have succeeded in updating TWRP to version 2.8.5.1. I tried once again to flash cm 10.2, with more error messages. Specifically, the error says:
assert failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Download/cm-10.2.0-vs980.zip' (that line was in red text)
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/Download/cm-10.2.0-vs980.zip'
I chose that rom because it is the only one listed as stable on the CM page for the G2. This time it was a fresh download. After that failed, I looked up JackpotClavin and found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702958
But it might as well be written in Greek because I don't understand much of it at all. I don't think I'd be comfortable doing all the command line stuff without a video tutorial or a more layman-friendly set of directions. So I didn't try that one.
Then I just started browsing the Development forum for a rom with easy install directions and found this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g2/development/rom-beanstalk-build-5-0015-t3001584
I followed the instructions and flashed it successfully, booted up successfully, and then I was bombarded with a never-ending series of popups that said Unfortunately, Google Play Services had stopped. So that Rom was unusable, but at least now I know that it is possible to flash a rom of some kind. I don't have my heart dead-set on CM, I just know that it's very popular and so I had hopes that it would be more stable than most. All I need is a stable rom that has working radios and the ability to use the native USB tether function without having to pay Big Red an extra fee for the privilege.
I have restored to stock 24A with TWRP 2.8.5.1. Any more pointers?
Thanks again for all your help. I can tell I'm making progress, just not sure how close I am to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Dude, I'm sorry for not reading closer to begin with, but ya, you're trying to flash a JB rom with a KK recovery. 2.7 and up are for kk only. I'm so sorry...
Did you flash a gapps zip with Beanstalk? Did you do a completely clean install?
If you still want to flash a 10.2 cm you're going to have to find the appropriate recovery, and there I'm of no use since I entered this phone on kk and don't know anything about its jb history. Also don't know about the USB tether part either (I don't use it) so you're probably going to have to do some searching, flashing, and experimentation.
But bright side is we've figured out why you couldn't flash the cm rom. Either stay on kk or above, or start scrolling through the dev section looking for jb recovery...
SUCCESS!
Last night I read a bit deeper into the CM11/12 thread and found a more noob-friendly breakdown of the directions on pages 4-6. I worked up my courage to dive into adb and it turned out to be easier than it looked. Another failed flash on the CM10.2 ROM left little doubt that the rom had to be the problem, and your last reply confirmed it. I went back to the CyanogenMod download page and grabbed a zip of CM11 and now I'm up and running!
Thank you so much again. I sent a donation to JackpotClavin, and I'd like to do so for you as well, if I could. I don't see a PayPal link in your signature, though.

LG G4 LP to MM stock upgrade

I just bought a used phone from Amazon and it came with LP. I have tried the OTA check for updates and it says my phone is up to date. I also tried using the LG Bridge tool and it states that it cannot check the software version of my phone. I then tried using LG UP and it states that I don't have the DLL installed for H81110n which I know I don't as I was last using it for a version of MM with my old phone. Any suggestions welcome.

if you are on LP 10n then thats antirollback V2 you can update it to 20i.. if you go upto 20o thats V3 and will be stuck there.
heres the link for 20i MM and dll is used on TOT files.. LGUP only uses KDZ.

Actually the error I get from LGUP states that I don't have the proper DLL installed for H81110n. This doesn't surprise me as I was working on MM the last time I used LGUP and installed the 8994 DLL from the msi installer.

He has everything but instructions. How can I apply DIrtycow to my Blu r1 hd V7.4.2 Does anyone have instructions on how to do this?
The instructions are there in the readme file. https://github.com/mrmazakblu/DirtyCow-R1_HD is the webpage. If you go to the desktop version of the page you can click the "clone or download" button to download the zip file. If I recall correctly I just downloaded that, adb, fastboot and got the computer to recognize the phone and ran the one-click-root file. I was having trouble getting my laptop to recognize the phone and some other issues so I don't remember exactly what steps I did. Hope I've been some kind of help and remember, I'm not responsible for anything you do to your own property

I was able to run the one click root script from the site but all it got me was a slick, shiny version of V7.42. minus all of my apps of course. I ran the one click script twice to be sure both times all I got was a new version of 7.4.2. No root or anything else. Mine is the 8 meg version I wonder if that makes a difference?

Not sure if you got any further but I think you have to download SuperSU, copy it to SD card and install it from TWRP recovery

(Must have adb and fastboot setup and have phone drivers for either OS)
On Windows?
Unzip the downloaded file to a new folder, open new
folder and click on "dirty-cow-log.bat".
Do the steps in order (1-3-3-4) to be unlocked, then
Step (5) to get to second page where step (1) is root
The rest is optional
On Linux?
Unzip downloaded file to new folder folder .
Open folder. Then open R1-Linux-tool-v2 folder
Open terminal from that folder and type
" . R1-HD-TOOL.sh "
Same order of steps (1,2,3,4) step (5) for extra
Steps (1 on second menu) for superSU root.
Second menu steps (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are optional.

you need to unlock bootloader and inject twrp then install twrp within twrp. and then root.
this guide works in any 20x NOTE theres antirollback if you are in a version over 20o either 20o-20p-20q-20r dont flash 20i cause its antirollback V2 from 20o to 20r its V3. so if you in 20o or higher dont flash 20i. just use same steps but with the version you have either 20o-20r.

Not sure what you mean, but this is a stock kdz. It can be used to upgrade from a previous version or to restore to this version, if somebody figures out/or applies a fix to the LGUP dll problem associated with the V40/this firmware.

I've been out of the lg loop so I couldn't tell you where to find flashtool exactly, but I'm sure it's all over xda in the lg links. But as far as flashing firmware, for let's say a t-mobile phone, on to an att phone, could spell disaster. Wrong firmware=bad day
Yeah, as far as I'm aware you absolutely cannot do that unless you are asking for a brick. But on another note, I can't even get LGUP or Flash Tool working with the LG V40 at all, so even with the right model, and firmware which I have, I cannot use this kdz. I just posted it for others who know more than me to see if they could do anything. I haven't tried looking at the DLL's with a hex editor yet though.
Hi everyone so there is not tool to flash kdz on V40?
even w useragent it show 400 right now - is this link still correct?

Not sure if they removed the download, because a newer version was released, or they patched this method altogether. I haven't yet tried to get the link for the newest version, and don't really planning on soon anyway, somebody found out that the current DLL has a check for LGUP 1.16 when we don't even have 1.15, so unless an LG employee leaks that, or somebody is willing to modify the DLL and then attempt to flash using the patched DLL, there isn't much point in downloading these kdz's I feel..

I'm interested in crossflashing LG V40. I did that on LG V30+ twice. Here is the XDA topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/using-lgup-crossflashing-t3780969
My YouTube Tutorial:
I had LG V30+ (us998) on Sprint and all the bloatwares. I used patched LGUP & DLL file and flash ls998 witch is unlocked V30 kdz. Ot worked prefect. Then i tried to flash some another kdz file, didn't succeed, brick the phone. But then i use CHIP erase and tried to flash ls998 (unlocked) on it. And it worked but that delete serial number and other details. Bc i did chip erase. But phone worked fine at the end?
