Tried factory reset. Didn't solve the problem. Sent to Samsung service centre. They re-flashed the firmware. Didn't solve the problem. Just sent it back to the service centre again..

Hi guys, just to give some update regarding this issue. In the end, my Note 5 was sent to samsung service centre a total of 4 times in a span of less than 2 weeks. During that period, my the vibration motor and motherboard were changed a few times.
But, the vibration issue that I described was not solved at all. The samsung customer service officer went to take out another 2 Note 5 (sent in for repair by other people) for me to test. Both Note 5 actually have the same vibration issue! Feeling frustrated, I thought that it's a design flaw by Samsung and went back home.
The next day, I borrowed my colleague's Note 5 to try out. Her Note 5 is perfectly normal and did not experience the vibration issue.
My observation is, my Note 5 is gold color. The 2 Note 5 that I tested are also gold color. My colleague's Note 5 is black color. Not sure whether the gold coating material will affect this.... it's weird..
Some additional information, my Note 5 is made in Vietnam, bought it on 19 August (few days after it's released in Singapore). Not sure whether is it the earlier batch that might have some problems.
How i make my note 5 to vibrate once when i recieve a text message instead of twice

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the Note? I've seen it reported for other phones but in the Note forum, most complaints about the screen are about colour reproduction. It is extremely frustrating and I was hoping someone had any idea? I had already done a factory reset, took it to the Carphone Warehouse (the authorized Samsung service center near where I live) and they reflashed it with a Polish firmware, and it still has the problem.
Video of problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAAWDwPVYmk
-------------Copy from subsequent post below-----------------
No problem. IIRC, *#0*# is the standard Samsung screen test code. (Personally I only tested this code on the Note and my SGS, which I used to film the video). I had also noticed that it usually happened after a bit of running (I ran an intensive flash video for 5-6 minutes). But then it started to happen just after I turned it on in the morning even when the phone was cold.
If this problem is really bothering you, I recommend you go straight to Samsung. The service I got here in the UK has been great so far. I sent it in and 2 days later, they told me they had replaced the screen and were testing it. If all goes well, I should have it back early next week. The phone number for the UK is 0330 7267864 if anyone is interested.

Having similar problem.
On mine, the issue is intermittent. Luckily I can now reproduce the problem by pressing the top side of the phone corner here and there and screen jitters/scrolls down/un responsive.
Same problem on mine...
I'm experiencing the same issue on mine as well, but only intermittently. I noticed it happens after I've been using the Note for a while and when it gets warm. I don't know if it's heat related. I still have to do more testing, but it seems like the problem immediately goes away when I plug it into the charger.
Thanks for posting the video, now I know there's a built in utility for testing the LCD

I wish I could send it back somewhere. I'm in the US, and the Note was a gift from a relative in the Philippines, who bought it from an importer. It looks like it was originally meant for Germany, so Samsung USA doesn't want to repair it, even when I offered to pay. Same response from Samsung UK.
The problem seems to be more apparent now with ICS (stock). Just like before, the problem crops up after some use when the phone and/or battery gets warm. Oddly enough, the problem immediately GOES AWAY as soon as I plug it into the charger.
temp fixes?
Anyone come up with a work around to this.
I made a portable charger at first, but now it dose it when its plugged too
maybe disable finger touches and just use the spen?
Hey guys,
Does anybody who ever or being suffered from the call issue like hearing nothing from the receiver during phone calls??Sometimes it work, but sometimes it doesn't!!And the speaker works in most of the cases, whereas sometimes it also breaks down liked the receiver. Moreover,I can hear some cracks from the receiver in some cases.
I am totally freaked out because I am sure that the receiver is good (no problems with skype and wechat, and I also have checked it by using "*#0*#" when the situation happens) and it seems impossible to be solved after wiping and flashing different firmware(both by cwm and odin),and so do the modems.
Any solutions or suggestions will be totally appreciated!!!:crying:
Edit: I've tried to flash the Perseus and disable the dac direct,it seems that the cases happen less frequent.
Update:
I found sth strange about the call issue by chance: when I lock the screen maybe for more than 5 mins, then wake it up and make a phone call soon, the receiver can't work every times. However, when I put it into use(light the screen) for more than 3 or 4 mins, and then the receiver works again during calls.
What I want to say is: maybe there are sth wrong with the cpu setting or the power management?
I actually got the static phone call issue today (first time) after installing ripper rom yesterday but im sure it was just a once off issue because I could not reproduce the same result
Change roms ect but if the issue persists then your only option is to jump on triangleaway, stock firmware and dial away to Samsung or your telco

It's a hardware issue. I had the same thing with my i9300; You have to take it to a repair center for motherboard replacement. It's the audio chip that goes bad (on the i9300 the component number is U604). Happened to me twice, with both my new and replacement motherboard, but it happened to go away for me the 2nd time.

Thanks!! I've saw your thread and now I have nothing to do with it except considering repair. If the issue happens again,i will probably send it back to the company which I bought this phone.
BTW,are you sure both your phones are now preforming good during the calls? You have said that the issue happened again a month later after it got the first repaired? If you have some news with your phones, please notice me~~~

Yep!! Last time I had flashed the ripper rom and then I found this issue.First I thought it was the problems that come from the rom,but after several tries then I thought it probably due to the hardware issue that I cant solve....
Anyway,thanks for your suggestions!!

I've had the phone for about 6 months total. The first time the issue happened, I had owned the phone for 3 months. The phone came from a company in Germany, and I live in the US (purchased through Amazon). The i9300 is not sold or repaired in the US (because the US version has different components), so I had to ship it to the seller, to ship to a repair center on my behalf. The phone itself carries a 2 year warranty, which is good because in the US phones only have a 1 year warranty. However, it cost me $80 to ship the device to Germany, and about a month total time before I got it back.
Anyways, I got a paper back in German that detailed the issue and said they had to replace a component, which turned out to be the entire board. They also copied over the original IMEI number to the new board. The second time this issue started happening was literally on New Year's Day (on 12:00 AM EXACTLY). I tried to call a car service place for my girlfriend and her family, and my phone had no audio going in or out for calls. My phone was working perfectly before that and I hadn't flashed anything new for over a month (I was on Omega ROM 35 with Siyah kernel 1.8.6). Immediately I knew the issue had come back again. For whatever reason, the issue went away maybe 4 days later and hasn't come back. I flashed the latest modem (for the i9300 it's XXELLA), but I'm still on Omega ROM v36. I don't think me flashing anything fixed anything; more likely that it went away on its own since it's 100% a hardware issue.
To clarify, sometimes an incorrect modem for your region CAN cause there to be issues with calls, but if it happens out of the blue, and flashing anything doesn't help, it's a hardware issue. Take it to a Samsung repair center for sure. The i9300 and i9305 use the same parts except for the modem and a few other things. Other than that they're the same exact device.

Yeah sadly you probably got a lemon. Two things to try
1 factory reset
2 odin
If both result in the same problem you have a hardware problem and need to contact the seller. If he refuses to refund or send you a new unit tell him you will report him to eBay and if you used PayPal tell him you will report him to them as well. If he still refuses do what you threatened to do. This might sound bad but when you report to PayPal tell them you were scammed and you should get your money back, if he doesn't help you he gets what is coming to him. Of corse you should go back to the page and make sure he didn't state this as a known issue because if he did you can't do anything.

Well I figure factory reset then odin if the problem continues. Odin is pretty safe but there is risk of bricking every time you use it, just takes a communication error while flashing the bootloader to perma brick. Good luck, hope it all works out in the end.

Hi dear XDA members,
I have some problem about my Note 5. I bought my phone 17 days ago. It is genuine. I was walking. And weather was sunny. I opened my phone and tried to call someone. Brightness was %100 (manual). I saw, Light Sensor worked (more Brightness). And Promixity Sensor worked too. Because, I was speaking with friend. I finished my call then I looked the screen:
What the….. Screen turned a green, purple, pink, black, gray, navy blue hue. I shocked and I got screenshot, then restarted Note 5. I check the screen when restarted. It was okay. I opened the screenshot for check it too. SS was ok too. This is my 1st problem. And i didn’t see this again.
Now, a 2nd problem in same day:
I’m using Swiftkey app with gray keyboard theme. I was chatting with friend. I called him (weather was sunny again) and turned back to keyboard.
What !? Gray keyboard turned a greenish hue. And I check my wallpaper (i was gray too). Its bottom lines turned a greenish hue too. Then I restarted phone and problem finished again.
Later, I called Customer Service Representative of Samsung. I explained all problem. She told me: “Format your phone. If problem isn’t finish, bring phone to service.”
Then, I formatted phone. Tested it many time. And there is no problem for 6-7 hours. BUT… I got the problem again. But I found some interesting tips to check the problem.
1. I checked *#0*# . And everyting is okay.
2. I opened my wallpaper in “Gallery” . And bring its top line to bottom line. So, gray was gray. But wallpaper’s bottom line was greenish on desktop. So, i think this isn’t Screen Panel problem. Looks like graphic bug. (Btw, notification bar's background was greenish too.)
3. I tried to active Light Sensor without “Calls” . And there is no problem about colors. Only in “Calls” . Looks like graphic bug with “Calls”
4. I didn’t restart my Note 5 when i got the problem again. I tried to lock off / lock on. And I saw: Screen turned to normal.
So, friends.. I think i will bring phone to service for research this problem. But I’m not sure. Problem looks like software bug. OR HARDWARE ? And maybe GPU problem ? (I didn't get problem in games, apps, etc.) I’m Confused…
Please help me. Must i go to service ? Or wait for new update etc.
P.S: My English isn’t so good i think. Thanks for understanding and helps.
Is my topic visible ? I'm new in forum.
Since this is a defect in their part, it should be covered under warranty. Just send it in, it is most likely a problem with the GPU or other component if even a format didn't fix it. If it was a software bug, the problem would be more widespread. It should be free of charge though because it isn't due to your use

Thanks for reply mate. I called customer service representative again. He told me: "If your phone is defective, we'll give you new Note 5 or you can take your money back. This is for new purchased phone (in 1 - 30 days)"
I will bring phone to service tomorrow. But I will be sad, if they tell me "it is software problem." I don't want to give my phone for nothing. But I don't have another way.
TY again.
Hi again mates !
I got the phone from service yesterday. They found nothing (very funny).
I spoke with employee :
* M = Me
* E = Employee
M: Did you open the phone's case for check the problem ?
E: No, I can't open the phone. This is risky.
M: So, How did you understand there is no problem ??
E: I think you used the phone as obsessively.
M: Wait. Did you tell me "obsession" ? I saw the problem with my eyes !
E: Mr. Cpt. Price, I mean: Don't care about it. Just use the phone. I used your phone for test. I saw nothing. You must take a video if you see problem. So, we can send it to SAMSUNG as proof.
M: You are very funny. I saw truth today. I saw Samsung's quality. Give me my phone.
So, guys I got the phone. And I'm using it with %98 brightness on a sunny day. So, there is no problem for now. I took that problem with %100 brightness on a sunny day. If i get that problem, I press lock off / on button. And problem is being finished.
I think I won't send it to service again. I won't spend my time for nothing. Sad but true: Apple is better than Samsung about satisfaction of service.
I will use the phone and if see a serious problem, i will go to service then.
I think that was a software problem or bug. What is your thought and advice ?
Regards...
Do you have any idea ?

They told me: We need to find a problem for change the phone. So, we can show proof to Samsung.
I don't know, how is Samsung services in other countries. But in my country: Samsung services are bad.
hi there, I have been experiencing this issue with my Galaxy note 9 (SM-N960F/DS). suddenly yesterday day I noticed that the volume the bottom speaker of my phone has dropped drastically, even bellow the volume level of the earpiece speaker, I tried wiping cache and what other stuff I could think of to try to fix the issue but nothing worked.
Finally as my last resort to make sure if maybe it is a software issue and not a hardware one, I factory reseted it, it started to work just fine after that!
But it didn't last for very long, next day, after when I woke up, I noticed the volume has been dropped again. Now I am sure as everyone would understand, resetting my phone everyday is not an option for me
I tried asking Samsung help center but they say I need to bring it in to the nearest service center, which is not an option for me, and who are kidding they don't help, they suck.
SOME INFORMATION regarding my phone
●Note 9 SM-N960F/DS
●Updated to One UI 2.1 a week ago
●I never have had any problem before
●Speaker started to work factory reset have proved that it's a software problem
●Samsung care sucks
If anyone is having the same problem please do post, and anyone who has any idea what's going on please do post too, your help can literally save my life.
Thanks everyone

I think that maybe the case too. Or you could take a handheld vacuum cleaner to it with the crevious attachment to suck out any dust or debrie that maybe stuck in the speaker grill

Hi Eddie, I would have agreed with you but the thing is that doing a factory reset resolved the problem for me once, then it eventually appeared again, so this indicates that it is a software issue! No?

But then how did the factory reset fix the problem for me once? I am sure it has something to do with software. Can you think of anything that I should try to fix it supposing it's a software issue (other than a factory reset of course) thanks.
Hmm seeing that you have corrected the issue in the past by doing the factory reset it is possibly a software issue..
Possibly try a reflash using odin?
It won't break your warranty unless you have rooted ij the past..
If that fails take a trip to samsung get it repaired under warranty

hi, go to service menu by dialing *#0#*, and test speaker there. this will confirm whether it is hardware or software.

Hey Eddie thanks for the odin suggestion, I tried it and finally realized that I was just being too stubborn to admit that my phone has a hardware issue. Turns out the audio never got better after a reset, it just felt a bit different as I wanted to be it that way.
Anyways time to admit the hard truth it is a hardware issue and I think won't get it repaired, both speakers now get as loud as an S8 which by any means is not a the best speaker out there, but it gets the job done, thanks for time, Abdul Wahab.

I had the very same problem. After the update. Same phone Other than the phone heating up and taking really long to charge, the speaker output dropped then got flakey. And finally stopped working. All this happened after the update.
Did a reset. Even took it to the service center and let them re-load the s/w.
Nothing helped. In the end both speakers, both mics, and ear jack will stop working.
I traced the problem down to one of two ICs one is the Max98512 or the 9896B.
If your out of warranty they will want to charge you 28,000 + for a new motherboard.
They looked really hard for physical damage and water damage. But my phone is immaculate.
From the showroom got a world-class case and screen protector.
Not a scratch they could find. I don't even take my phone off my desk. Kids actually nobody is allowed to even touch it.
At first I thought it was something I did. But as you research update problems you will see many issues from failing audio to failing displays.
The local small-time repair shop service guys will say we can fix it. But they pull a con. They just reball the audio IC and hit it up with heat. There is a chance that it will start working but the repair will not last.
Last option is to put the chips on Ali express and replace them yourself. Which is what I will do if Samsung Shafts me.
I have e-mailed the Service head of Samsung to resolve the problem.
My logic is that a flag ship should last 2 years at least.
If they shaft me on this Samsung have lost a loyal customer from Note 4 days.
You could get lucky doing things like cleaning the ear phones, the cache etc.
