Rooting won't brick your phone. And you can have root on stock
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
You can root and stay on stock ROM no need to change to another ROM. Also rooting .257 firmware is not yet supported. Morever I read somewhere that Kingo and Vroot are under investigation for installing tracking malware.

yeah i know.because of that im waiting new update
What was that i heard about doing something to your phone messes up the camera? Will rooting it do that to the camera?
No rooting does not affect the Camera. Only unlocking Bootloader will mess up the camera.
Just tried vroot for my Z1 (6903...xx257 firmware) and it doesnt work
Hope to see some progress about it soon as I need root to restore my titanium backups from another phone

Please read some of the guides.
It is impossible to directly root that FW,
Downgrade to .534, root and then upgrade OTA
I think dont downgrade your phone to 538.My some friends have problem about camera and walkman bla bla.Wait the root programme for 257

There are no problems because you immediately upgrade to .257 OTA and the problems go.
You downgrade to the older version and are on it for as long as it takes to root (2-3 minutes) during that time the camera does work (But you can fix it if you want by clearing the data in the camera common app) but as soon as you upgrade it works again...
Do this my friend i did it and it work for me ...

Learn before doing atleast, so we don't get fifty new threads about generic issues.
This is a development forum, and it would be nice if it's not overly cluttered with useless threads all the time.
Also the mods gets a break aswell
I do not mean to be rude, but people who ask questions, which the answer to, lies a couple clicks away, generally don't want to bother themselves with reading.
This is a shame, because the great developers on here are excellent at writing extensively about how to do things, and what you should and should not do.

Here is a video that you might find useful:
That should cover a lot of the questions that you may have.
Hi all
I just got my z1, I had a z before.
If I unlock the bootloader will the camera then suffer? On the z it became more grainy and the quality got really bad... If this is so then I won't unlock.
It is updated to 4.3...
When it came out I heard of the camera being broken when unblocked.. This is why I ask... Thanks in advance..
If you mind.. Please give some words about what you feel of the phone... Is it that good and such?

With the latest Firmware .290 or .136 the camera will working fine and at the moment nobody complain about quality after Unlock Bootloader. Also few stuff like X-Reality was fixed and will work even after Unlock it, but to do that you have to install the fix.
BTW, if you want just root your phone you do not need to Unlock Your Bootloader but if you do because you want install Custom Kernels then root first, Backup TA, if you do not do that you will cannot relock bootloader and you warranty will be voided, then unlock and update to what you like.

Does anyone else have the same problem? My camera won't work. No focus, and stucks with flash on. Takes no pictures. My bootloader is unlocked, and I cannot lock it, there's some kind of problem with my flashmode. Can't use it... Only fastboot works. Is there a fix for it, or do I have to downgrade to 4.3?
Best regards

Is it just in the Camera App or on every app you try to open (ex. skype)?
Also if possible try to post a screenshot with the problem.

Really strange, I don't believe it's a hardware problem. Try this : on the dialpad type this *#*#7378423#*#* . This opens the service menu in xperia phones. Just go to service test and test the secondary camera. If it works then you should do a factory reset, maybe you messed up something in the system...
It saying this device does not support this function.

I hope it's not a hardware problem. To eliminate the possibility of a software related problem i suggest to flash a .ftf with the Flashtool.
If the problem still persist then its probably hardware related.
It's not that difficult to change the front facing camera in XZ (I have done it my self changing the motherboard - and the cameras are just below that) but that that would compromise the Water-resistance of the phone plus things could go really bad.

It is really weird, if it would be a hardware problem, the camera would show up as a option to activate but it world either crash or not show any image at all (like black screen).
At this point I don't know what to say. Try send it to a repair shop, there seems to be no other alternatives.
hey bro i have the same front cam problem with my phone,i dont know how to do .ftf with the flash tool.can you please guide me?

This thread is exclusive for Xperia z, if you have any question for your c5 please write in the right section. However flashing a firmware for Sony devices is almost identical for every device, so you can find them in the sticky posts on the cross-device threads.
Hi everyone
I'm visitor of xda forum for 6 years, but this is first time that I decided to write or ask something.
I have problem with camera of my Xperia z3+. I can't record hd videos, because when I try to record my phone freeze, and also focus doesn't work when I take photos for near object. I have tried everything in settings, but not success. I have tried also to repair my phone with Xperia companion from PC, and surprisingly it works, but unfortunately only for some days (maybe one week). After that same story. Again doesn't work. Don't ask me to call or to send the phone to Sony company because it doesn't exist in my country. What do you suggest guys? To flash new rom? Lineage? Or other official stock roms, even though I have tried to flash official 7.1.1 US version.
Sorry for my English, and thank you.

did you backup your DRM keys? if not, they are lost forever, that's why your camera have problem focusing, x-reality stops working and so on. flashing new roms will not solve your problem.
you need to flash kernel with DRM fix.
