Started with N900AUCUBMI9, rooted via RDLV (N900AUCUBMI9_OneClickBin)
accepted OTA update (i know) to N900AUCUBMJ5, lost root
Wanted root back, attempted RDLV again, got SECURE CHECK FAIL : cache, stuck in "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
Found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47411605
Flashed PIT ONLY, successfully booted up into MJ5, unrooted. Should have left it alone there. KNOX flag 0x0
Wanted root back, thought I could downgrade BL, AP/PDA, Phone, CPC to MI9 as suggested in above thread.
BL fails with SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sbl1]Fused 2 > Binary 1. AP/PDA, fails with SECURE CHECK FAIL : system. Phone successfully flashed to MI9. CPC fails with SECURE CHECK FAIL : cache
Stuck in "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
Flashed PIT again, phone tries to boot but "Process system isn't responding" after AT&T globe boot animation, then reboots
Attempted RDLV again, get SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sbl1]Fused 2 > Binary 1, presumably because the MI9 BL can't be flashed over the MJ5 BL.
I'm stuck folks. Any suggestions welcome. Am I just going to have to wait for a stock MJ5 package/files similar to the MI9 files in the thread above?
For those reading who were dummies like me and accepted the OTA update, lost their root, tried to re-root with RDLV: flash the PIT file ONLY from the above link and you should be back into MJ5, un-rooted.
Help please?
Well lets see here. I was rooted (Kingo) <Updated ver.
I saw the update.
Un-rooted with the SuperSU app.
Did the update
Re-rooted with Kingo.
Re-did all xposed/winam stuff.
Rebooted
Phone is on new firmware with root and I'm loving it.
The End.

yes, that's the way i should have done it (SU persist, un-root, OTA, SU root) but I didn't and now here i am.
I followed the info to flash PIT only and my phone rebooted. Now fc's allot of stuff. Can't get past it. Build number mi9, baseband mj5. Do you think someone will make an mj5 odin? Or any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Same here
Same situation here ;_; can you post just the Pit? the zip is taking forever for the fact that I just need an XML file.
ditto
+1 I was updated and rooted and decided to jack around with a data toggle in notification (/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db) and here i am
So I flashed the .pit
which let me reboot.
However now I'm in a horrible limbo state where pen imput crashes in an infanite loop making anything on the phone painful to do.
I think it's because my PDA and CSC are MI9 but my phone updated to MJ5.
I tried recovery mode wipe and "reset Phone" in settings and the issues persist.
This lovely mismatch has also rendered my ability to install firmware via Kies imposible. Nulling my plan to just roll back to stock.
Anybody have an odin one click for MJ5? I'd rather be stock than inoperable.
I'm afraid to try the method listed above for Knox flag reasons. If rolling back to MI9 is unreliable and might throw flags.
Hope someone else gets further than I have soon.

Sweet. Your OP lead me to believe that you tripped it somewhere. Honestly I'm beginning to care less and less about it. I honestly think that with a full ODIN of the current OTA WE'd be back in the clear. The inability to roll back after The thing updated without my permission is frustrating to say the least. Coming from iOS I'm also a bit surprised by the lack of OEM firmware existing in the wild.
settings.db
Might anybody have a stock unmodified /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db file that i can try loading with adb?
Resolved issue with at&t.
Couldn't handle waiting for SM-N900A stock firmware so I took my phone to AT&T retail store (I didn't have warranty with them). They referred me to At&t Device support center and told me that I have a manufacture warranty with samsung for 1 year and since i didn't have any water damage or such, just a boot loop, i can just exchange it for a "like-new" product and might ship between 6 business days.

I was offered the same deal. Preferred to hold out hope that we'd get an MJ5 firmware ripped and running before that.

What are you running right now Kitkat, Lollipop? If you are on N900AUCUCNC2, you can use Towel root https://towelroot.com/ or Kingo root http://www.kingoapp.com/ The only way to install custom rom is to have Safestrap install as the bootloader is locked.

I'm not the OP, but I have the same question: I have a stock Note 3 with Lollipop (N900AUCUEOC1). I'd love to root it. Is there a step-by-step guide, or better yet a tap-and-go app to achieve root?

You can't root OC1, but you can use Odin to downgrade to NC2 and root it. Odin v.3.10.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3109599&d=1420980613. Once you Odin back you can use Towel root or Kingo root (links are posted above your post). Then install Supersu https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en and run it, install Busybox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en open and install it, then Safestrap http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=7216. (You should make a backup once Safestrap is installed before you flash any Roms). Once you're done you can pick a Rom for your Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/development Now you ever use Odin? http://www.samsungodindownload.com/odin-tutorial/ (The site only shows flashing the All-In-One file so you know). Use all 4 Odin files, N900AUCUCNC2 ODIN Files, BL https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891602 AP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891890 CP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891603 CSC https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891604
Brilliant! I'm rooted on Lollipop, and loving my Note 3 all over again. Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions, that made it a breeze!
lil differant way
To shorten the process, I downloaded Chainfires app called FlashFire, Then Downloaded full OC1 odin tar and Full N2 Odin tar. I flashed Note 3 back to N2 with pc odin, I then transferred OC1 to my sd card installed Flashfire and used flash Fire to do a complete flash to OC1 while choosing to inject everroot. Saved tons of time and in my mind a lot cleaner. I also have ROM PRO TOOL BOX and Chainfires CF-Bench after installing all the apps I wanted and setting up my personal settings on the phone all together, I installed BusyBox Pro and did a smart install, then rebooted and performed a benchmark. Then opened Rom Pro Tool box and went to cpu and then the benchmark it recognized the benchmark from chainfires cf-bench app so I choose it and also clicked apply at boot. Rebooted and this Note is fast as light and reliable. FlashFire will make back ups for you if your worried about recovery and always a good Idea to have Helium and or Titanium to make a nandriod and a completed setup back up to store on your pc and cloud just in case. :fingers-crossed:
Does anyone know if Rooting directly from OC1 without a wipe is being worked on? :fingers-crossed: or should I just stop whining and just do one of the above options? :victory:

What was you running before, Lollipop? If you was, you need to do all four files not the All-In-One to change your boot loader back to NC2.

I have a s5active and just love the hell out of it. I'm still kinda green with the rooting but have done several successful roots, but development is way out of my wheelhouse. Unfortunately I haven't found a developer that had been working on the active. I'm still looking though. Thanks for doing the outstanding organization you did for the note 3. I'm going to be doing it as soon as the laptop comes back from the shop. My wife will like fire cat I think. I just found the thread I needed for my active lol only one rim but better than nothing.
Hey all, I've been away since the Skyrocket days. For ODIN, what state does the phone need to be in. I have USB debugging Enabled, but the ODIN says Failed. I downloaded all 4 files. Nevermind, had to put the phone in download mode.
i used KingoRoot to "root" it said it was sucessful, but when i try SuperSU it said "SuperSu Binary needs to be updated. Continue"? when i click continue, i click on normal and it says "Installing, please wait" then it returns failed.. SuperSu binary is not updating what is the fix for this?

I would install Root Checker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en to see if your root is properly installed. You might have to use KingoRoot again. I usually stick with Towelroot.
i tried superuser and that said it might not have installed properly. I tried flashing the ODIN files again and now it says failed. I think i've bricked my phone and now im really frustrated

Note 3 Unroot Help and OTA update failure
I rooted my note 3 a long time ago with Towlroot running on original firmware, every time I attempt to grab the OTA update it downloads reboots begins install end gets to % and then fails due I assume to the custome/unlocked/rooted situation. I followed super users unroot and uninstall instructions . It removes root however it still boots ATT then Samsung "custum" with a lil lock on the bottom open shown open. Even a full wipe and restore does not get rd of this custom boot screen, Any ideas how I can remove completely any changed towlroot made so I can get the OTA, or is there a version I can push to phone using Odin.. Any advice or help appreciated as the current software/OS is buggy, TouchWizz crashes, phone can sometime reboot its self on its own,
Thanks in advance,
Eben

If you want STOCK Lollipop Odin files http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 OR ROOTED Lollipop http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 For the Rooted Lollipop you will need to root it again and install busybox, supersu and safestrap (which I'm sure you know). Thanks @Walter.White
Ok so first let me apologize if I overlooked a similar post but I've been having root issues for weeks now and haven't found my exact situation yet.
Here's the background. I have an AT&T Note 3 N900A. When I got the phone I had no issue using towel root to root the device. Worked first try. I'm new to rooting and I was in love with all the new options. I started small playing with xposed and fonts overclocking etc. Then started researching custom Roms. Discovered cwm twrp wouldn't work with my locked boot loader so researched and got safestrap. Did the backup made my new Rom slot and with a guide I attempted my 1st custom Rom flash. FAIL. bootloop. Revert to stock Rom via Odin. Download towel root. Rooted. No problem.
2nd attempt at custom Rom flash with safe strap. fail. Download another stock firmware (at this point I was still dumb to the difference between NL1 NC2 OC2 etc). And in still dumb to oxed and deoxed. But apparently I got out of bootloop with a different firmware version this time around. First I decided to run lollipop 5.0. Towel root said device not suported. Now I'm running 4.4.4 NL1. device not supported. Also can't get kingoroot king root(pc or non pc) cf or anything else I've tried to work. From what I've read I need to go back to the NC2 4.4.2 and run towel root from there.
My current issue is I have no windows pc to run Odin on and my wife's MacBook refuses to install the Mac version correctly nor will it load the Web based version on the casual page.
I just figured out that I can't use safe strap to flasthe nc2 until I'm rooted. And without Odin to revert I'm scared to try any other method without some guidance.
First off... Is there any way to root my current 4.4.4 without going to the nc2 or if I allow my phone to upgrade to 5.o again is there a non pc root method on lollipop yet?
Or would I be able to download a nc2. Zip to my phone save to sd and use the note 3 stock recovery to revert? ?
I'm open to any suggestions you guys may have even if I haven't mentioned it in my post. Hope to get some answers asap and thanks in advance!!
I'm not familiar with the Note 3 for AT&T but Heimdall (in place of Odin on a PC) may work on your mac to flash ROMs.
http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
Yeah I tried that a while back but it was b4 I knew this much. Maybe j can get it working now. I was just hoping there was an easier way.
I recently pulled my old Note 3 out of the drawer to do some misc tweaks, and think i screwed it all up...LMFAO!!!
Quick specs of phone...
Samsung Galaxy Note III (AT&T SM-N900A) 64gb (yes, i said 64gb and not 32gb)...but NOT why I am posting, so please don't even comment about it.
Steps that led to where I am...
First off I will say the device was originally rooted 4.3 back in 2013, and never updated since. Today I decided I wanted to update the phone to the last OS that worked perfect for a root, no i didn't just update it. I followed SuperSU's & TWRP instructions on first bringing the phone back to stock, didn't work and left me in recovery mode. Again, doubtful but may have been caused by me. So I was left with a wipe/restore because every time I attempted recovery via OneClickBin it would fail. After wipe/restore I was able to reinstall SuperSU and device was still rooted, obviously. So I attempted to completely remove root through SuperSU and it just kept getting stuck on spinning wheel. So then I attempted to reinstall TWRP and now I am stuck at the screen shown below in screen shots. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance, regarding this matter.
-Semper Fi
Oh yeah...and I'm a total and permanent disabled Veteran who doesn't have the ability to "go to AT&T store". So lets please try to fix this without going anywhere. Thanks again in advance.
Wrong forum you want the. A&TT note 3 forum .

If the phone doesn't have a locked bootloader, you can try flashing back to stock with Odin and then run ota updates until the phone is running the latest stock ROM.
AT&T variant have a locked bootloader. You can't use TWRP or any other custom recovery.
Please follow this guide to fix your softbrick, root and update.
