Hey everyone
I wonder if other users have had problems with the internal card of GS
For weeks I tried my rooter GS unsuccessfully
I just noticed in fact that when I created a file in / sdcard / (eg photo) it disappears after a reboot
Have you had this kind of problem and do you find the solution?
I should mention that I already try to format but without further success.
sounds like you are in the wrong forum, it appears your phone also runs Android
Which phone are you using?

Sorry
Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)
okay now we know what you are talking about, we usually refer to the phone as SGS, or typing the model number which is better, just GS can get misleading.
back to your original question, no, it should not delete your stuff even if they are at the root of the SD card
if you create a file there, or picture, anything, it should remain in the folder you left it on after a reboot.
what software did you install on the phone?
Even if you factory reset it 3 times in a row it still retains information such as music, vids and pics on the internal sd. Looks like a dodgy sd card to me

Hey guys =)
would firstly like to say that this forum ROCKS!!
incredible knowledge database that has been invaluable to my pursuits so far
I have recently purchased a 16GB Micro SD card to replace the 2GB which originally came with the phone.
I tried inserting the card fresh but the device seems to bootloop and I found that I had to partition the SD card first then transfer all the data from the old card across.
Transferring the data is not a problem (mount the new card via USB in recovery mode and transfer) however I can't for the life of me figure out how to actually partition the card in the first place, as I used ROM Manager to partition it originally.
All the threads I have found are to do with Cyanogens ROM's etc and I am just dead stuck on getting any further with this!!
Could someone possibly link me to a guide or post a guide which I can follow, with all areas covered in a simple manner - THAT WOULD BE SWEEEET!!!
Here is the main guide I am using at the moment however I cannot obviously get past 4 or 5 as this is to with the partition which I cannot do using this method...

Any help is welcome and once again you guys are awesome, thankyou for the vast amount of knowledge in this forum!!
download a program called partition magic, i think it should do all that you are after.
Hello folks.
First post here on XDA but I use this forum since I bought my Defy a couple of years ago.
Here is my question and sorry about my english.
I was a victim of Galaxy Note softbrick some months ago.
I did revive my device with the help of some tutorials, especially the one from forest1971, which helped me a lot.
But I noticed the partition size of the Internal SD, its completely wrong.
Instead of 16gb, it's showing only 4gb.
I tried several custom PIT files, original PIT file from Samsung and no results at all. Always showing 4gb.
Is there a way to revert my partition to the original size? Some partition manager or stuff like that.
I miss those extra 12gb because of photos and games.
Any kind of help and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hmmm tricky indeed;
i found this url
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning
which shows how to partition your sdcard, internal memory should be shown aswell, you could try to partition and format it [on your own risk].

Thanks for the answer.
I tried this program and nothing happened.
It still shows only 4gb on the partition.
Now I saw the partition program, I just recalled I formatted the partition on recovery. Maybe that's the problem, but I can't find a way to format it back to the whole space, the 16gb
Is there a way I can do it?
Thanks for any help!
Hi,
I am a HTC OneX user and I'm pretty knowledgeable on rooting/flashing/etc, but my girlfriend has a Galaxy Ace and she's already filled the SD card (not surprising as it's only 2GB!)
I have a spare Samsung 16GB microSD HC and I want to put that in her phone, but I'm unaware of how I should format it for the Galaxy Ace.
Some time in the future I will put a custom ROM in her phone, so should I format the new SD card as EXT4? Also, how do I ensure that everything from her old card will be copied to the new card. Do I simply copy the entire directory structure of her old card to my laptop and then copy that across to the new card? Or are there other steps I need to take first?
For the future, I also need to understand what ODIN is and KIES and all these other things that are particular to Samsung. Is there a decent guide on XDA anywhere that explains all this? My girlfriend is NOT very technical, and I work on a cruise ship and so I'm not always around. Can anyone recommend a STABLE custom ROM that I can put on her Ace (I will do this at some time in the future when I'm back in the UK)? Stability needs to be the strong point of the ROM, as she will panic if there are lots of random FC issues and she'll probably blame me for everything! Ideally with any version of JB but a stable ICS would also do the trick (well, anything has got to be better than the stock Android 2.3.5 that she's running now - I can't believe her phone company actually recommended this to her!)
As you can see, lots of different questions but I hope someone can take the time to answer them for me.
Regards,
miles_muso

You can format your SDCard as a normal SDCard in FAT32 format using windows or whatever tool that you usually use, just copy the same structure form the 2gb SDCard to your formated 16 GB SDCard I recomend you not create an ext4 partition or similar things if your SDCard, This will give you problems and slowdowns in the future... and yes, unfortunately the best for the Galaxy Ace is Gingerbread's Android version and the STOCK custom roms , but you can try CM7/CM9/CM10.1 and other stuffs, they are really amazing!! :good:
Thanks!

Hi, i have a Samsung Galaxy s4 mini GT 19105 and have problems installing apps and games as my device internal storage which is SMALL has very little available space. Please help with a proper method to set my defualt install location of the phone to external 32gb micro sd to allow install of downloaded OBB files to be placed on the EXTERNAL sd card and the apk for games and apps to run from my external card not internal.I have read somewhere that this can be done without rooting the phone and using ADB together with special commands in CMD in Windows. Please assist with definate working method for my request above.Friend has told me that there is a way to set defualt install location to external sd card ( CHECK LINKS BELOW ). I said i have to check with the Professionals at XDA and take their advice as XDA as always helped me.I have heard that if i root the phone , there are apps on playsore that will allow myself to change default install location, but the problem is that most of these apps are not user friendly. Is this true? Please advise

No need for making two threads with the same request!!
Also you're in the wrong device thread, you're in the regular S4 thread, not in the mini thread.
Wanted to suggest foldermount, based on your first thread, but haven't used it myself and I'm avoiding rooting for as long as possible.
Haven't heard of a method without rooting, but haven't known to search for it either.
Hope you find your solutions! Hopefully a moderator will move this thread to it's proper place and delete the previous one!!
Senior Member Alliktavo. Thanks for your swift reply.Appolgies for making error with posting thread in not the suitable thread.I am a newbie. I hope the moderator can help and move me to the correct thread as i dont know how to do that.I hope i will receive a working method to by request.
