Ya I have 17 hours of sensor usage in all time (I guess that's since I did a hard reset a few days ago).
Yea and the only solution I've found is factory reset but I can't find it in cm6 settings nor do I know if factory reset does anything to rooted users
Factory reset erases all user data. It's essentially wiping Data and Cache partitions.
Has anyone figured this out yet? My phone has been unplugged for 1 hour and has 24 minutes of sensor usage when I've used the phone for maximum 8 minutes.

I'd have to bet it's an app doing it... You'll have to figure it out probably.
Definitely it must be some app you have installed. Try nandroid and wipe if you have root and if it solves your problem then nandroid restore back and uninstall apps one by one until you figure it out.
I recommend you to start uninstalling apps which using sensor as first.

My guess would be that the sensor usage is part of the android system, therefore it uses the light sensor to read ambiant light for automatic backlighting for the phone, proximity sensor for the dialer, light sensor for the camera and orientation? sensor for the gallery perhaps???
I would guess that if you turned off the proximity sensor for the dialer, disabled automatic backlighting, etc you wouldn't see the same results. Just a guess tho.
That would be any app that uses the motion sensor. Like the new gesture search that can be triggered by flipping the phone back and forth. Or maybe a Tasker task you set up for some sort of motion gesture. Or a live wallpaper that reacts to 'gravity'.
I'd first look for any programs like those that could be running. They are misbehaving if it is constantly on, even when the screen is off. Or it could be by design 'to shake the screen on' for instance.
I have a similar sort of issue but instead of android being 100%, I have internet at 50% under battery info/sensor usage?
I charged my battery to full last night, set my alarm to wake up this morning, then put my desire into airplane mode.
I wake up this morning and my battery has gone down from full to 88%? How is this possible, and more unusual, how has the internet been the reason when I had my phone in airplane mode?

Same problem
I have a Desire (running CM-6.0.2) and am experiencing similar problems. Mine is actually much worse than reported here; in 8 hours of over-night table sitting, my phone drained the battery from 70% down to nearly 20%!!
I am careful to check which Apps are running, and meticulously shut things down. I always have my 3G data connection turned off, WiFi off, GPS off...
The Testing > Battery History > Sensor Usage frequently seems to be showing "Android System" with times that even exceed what is recorded as "Running"!!
The battery performance isn't always terrible like this, but I've noticed when BatteryGraph shows steep decline, that the Sensor Usage is really high.
I don't know how to try to diagnose this further, but we've got to figure something out.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I have the same problem. I charged my phone two days ago, didn't use it much before the first night. The battery in the first morning was about 95%.
I then barely used the phone yesterday and just used a default browser for 10-15 minutes before going to sleep. Don't recall the exact battery percentage, but during the second night the battery had drained a lot more than during the first night.
I have disabled auto-rotation and auto-brightness, gps and network connections and the phone was locked in it's pouch.
Under battery history (sensor usage, since last unplugged) I have:
Android system: 1d 14h 56m 48s
Internet: 11h 45m 35s
I didn't use the Internet for more than 15 minutes.
What could cause so high sensor usage?
Was a fix for this ever found?
I'm experiencing the same issue where "Android System" shows the "Sensor Usage" in Spare Parts as running 100% of the time.
Got my Xperia Z sim free on Friday. Everything was working fine initially but Stamina Mode just doesn't seem to be working properly now. Don't know if it's a software or hardware problem?
When I press the toggle, the standby time left doesn't change at all? And the figure it gives seem permanently low. I've charged it fully overnight and it says standby time left is 8 hours? That said when I have left it in Stamina Mode its told me on a couple of occasions that certain apps are preventing it from working properly (Google Sync etc) but it'd be nice to know if it was working.
Any ideas?

Some problem here... So probably is a bug on the firmware. On the 4.2.2 probably will be fix
Same problem here was fine on first day then went all odd.
Likewise
I'm also seeing this problem. In addition it appears the Google mail client which was getting mails by push due to it being white listed in the stamina application list have also stopped coming through when the screen is in standby. Be good to see what that the situation is.
Same.... Stamina mode takes a while to update the standby from memory. I
white listed gmail and stopped getting mail. Maybe it's just not that clever or as data is off it can't truly be white listed.

Same as of today.
Standby time has no change with toggle on or off.
Showing 14hrs off full charge.
Cleared everything out of stamina mode & reset defaults on all apps but no change.
Don't fancy doing a factory reset yet so I'll lurk here & see if it gets resolved any other way.
Same here.. But im guessing the stamina mode takes the avg time of our usage too, being a new toy we use it alot.. Hence the total time is from our usage... Only my humble opinion thou
My stamina mode seems to be working again. Yesterday it stopped and would show the same figure regardless of whether on or off. Woke up this morning, now on 75% it's showing 15hours on, 8 hours off. But nowhere near the 4 days I was getting on 90% when I first got it.
No issues here with stamina mode. I'm not sure yet if it makes a difference, but at least it's working

Stamina Mode is buggy as hell, done a few tests and with it on my mail doesnt come through even though its white-listed. It only stops notifications coming though, it doesnt turn the data off like it says it does. Hope 4.2 fixes these problems.
My stamina mode seems to be working again, bugy things :highfive:

Same here. I also have Exchange (Hotmail push) that is "preventing stamina mode from saving power"
Does anyone know whats going on here with this notification?
I didnt quite get the idea of Stamina.
Was it supposed to disable data when screen off?
or just prevent apps from using data but keeps the data connection alive?
Something is seriously wrong with this software!
I have already made a reset and a repair of the phone and everytime the result is the same...
In the first couple of days stamina is working right, after the second day (third day at the most), it stops working!
Anyone knows how to fix it?
I've thought I was the only one having this kind of issue... Well the same thing happened to me. The strange fact was, that stamina mode stopped worked after I've rooted the device. I was thinking the r00t made the stamina mode doesn't work. I guess I was wrong... Stamina mode was the coolest feature on this phone - it will be sad if we can't use it
Out of the box my stamina mode was showing 30+ hours on & 20+ off.
2 weeks later it's now showing 18 on & 12 off on a full charge.
F***ing thing!
.
Guys, you should try the Sony Update Service software - it helped me.
I got 20hrs. on average and Stamina mode not working, also that fast discharging with not entering Deep Sleep. All is fixed now when I have just re-flashed the stock ROM. (May be the Stock ROM downloaded through the Sony Update Service is somehow modified and not the same version I had on the phone initially).
how to fix the xperia z stamina mode
1.switch On the stamina mode and low battery mode
2.Connect the charger and charge your Xperia Z
3.Wait until it reach 100%
4.Check the stamina mode .....
It's happen for me.......:good:
Hi Guys,
I got my XZ on the 1st of march and I absolutely love it, in fact the only thing I preferred about my previous Note 2 was the larger screen, everything else on the XZ is just better.
Anyway.... I'm getting mixed results with stamina mode.
At first, after a full charge I stamina mode would report several days standby time, nut in the last week I only get about 12 hours.
Last night I didnt put the phone on charge, it had 60% battery when I went to bed, I wake up this morning (only 8 hours later) and the battery is on 4%. I checked the battery usage and it said 51% Android system (up till now the screen had been the largest user of battery)
Now I know its probabbly some app preventing stamina mode from putting the phone to sleep, but I cant work out which one.
Is there any way to see specifically which app or part of the android system is using that much power while the phone is on standby?
Are there some options I'm missing which force all apps to sleep?
Does stamina mode automatically turn off wifi and gps when the phone is on standby?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Stamina Mode not working?
look at my screenshots
the first two days the difference with and without stamina-mode was huge...so from 1day to 3-4 days
sync is off
facebook deaktivated
and lots of other things are deaktivated
only whatsapp is on
what could the problem be?
if stamina mode is on...every thing is deaktivated...there aren't extra apps which still will down/upld data in stamina mode
Akkuschonmodus - I do not have this enabled along with Stamina mode.
Why are you if you are on 92% ?
Should have nothing to do with this problem tho.
Kind regards, Stefan.

i experienced this too
and don think any problem
cause when u use phone and apps they store lots of data that need to process (the exclude apps in stamina)
So time will reduce.
i had 4 days now i have 1day.14hrs BUT after 48hrs it didn't use even 50% of battery. (it was 54% )
anyway if u think u have problem restart ur phone with power button + vol.up (hold down 10 seconds)
and then turn on ur phone.
Or reset factory.
I have the phone for a week now and more and more it's shut down when I want to switch it on. I then have to press the power button a bit longer and it will then restart normally.
And there is something else that I think is strange (I just found out while testing because of the other issue). When I press the power button multiple times then sometimes it doesn't switch on again. After a wait of a few seconds and another press it switches on again.
Anyone else has these issues? Can I track why it switches off? Is there a log to see what happend before?
Only when it's cold
I noticed that the random shutdowns are not so random. It only happens when the phone is cold. I can put it 3-4 minutes outside (a bit below 0 degrees celsius) and it switches off every time.
When it's warm - it never happens.
Anyone else have this problem? what's the temperature range which it should work in? I never had that with another phone and it's really not that cold.
Not me, but it's not that cold here.
But it is coldest time since i have z3c and i noticed that in camera when switching from superior auto to manual, or anything it lags a bit when it's cold.
I couldn't find operating range for our battery but it looks like that most Li-Po batteries suffer when temps go below the 0C
I'm going to assume that's your case.
Standby phone = no heat being generated = available current dropping = phone shutting down

weird
thr s always process in background so the phone temp will be always above 0 C
unless the environment temp be too below 0C (like -20C)
contact service center and tell the story and please inform us here what s their response
:good:
Thanks for the inputs. I know that there is a limit on lower temperature for the batteries. But as I easily was able to restart the phone and it showed no strange value for the battery-power, I don't think it can be only this. Also - we had 5 other phones with us and they all worked in the same environment. I'll keep you posted what the service center answers...
I have been in low-temperature environments(-18,+4,0 C) I did not stay too long, but phone survived without any hassle
I am having a very similar issue. Since day 1, my phone randomly reboots especially during the night every 20 minutes or so, and i usually find it switched off in the morning when i wake up. I even had to go work late the first morning because I use the alarm of the phone to wake up and since the phone was switched off, the alarm didn't work.
Last week i went to ski. Up in the mountain, the phone was almost completely useless ( Tempererature was just below 0 C ). It was constantly rebooting in my pocket and shutting down every 5 minutes. Whenever i wanted to use it, the screen opened and as i unlocked the phone it rebooted, however if i continue to use it afterwards ( opened mobile data and gps, talking, etc. ), it did not reboot. So i thought that it might be due to battery getting too cold. Also, i realized the rebooting happens more frequently when i put the phone in a very low power usage state like Ultra Stamina or flight mode. ( I also put the phone in flight mode during the night when i go to sleep )
I have contacted Xperia Care. They assumed this might be a software malfunction and suggested resetting my phone using PC Companion. I played along and reset my phone but it didn't fix anything. I will call them again tomorrow. I am suspecting the battery itself is faulty or the background task that is supposed to heat up the battery is not working properly.
Update: : Appaerently the phone was in fact faulty. They changed it with a new one which is working pretty fine
Basically, for a couple days, my Z3C battery drain graph is a straight line going down at 40 degrees. I'd post a pic, but I can't yet (new member limits).
It used to be mostly flat when the phone wasn't used, but not anymore.
What changed? honestly, nothing! I just woke up and noticed that it went down from 100% to 70% during ~7 hours of my sleep. And it's like that ever since. I'm struggling to use the phone for a full day (used to be 2-3 days). The phone is 8 months old.
WHat I did already:
1. Turning off/uninstalling various apps based on their % impact on battery drain
2. Clearing cache
3. Turning down wifi and internet
4. Factory reset with data backup
5. FULL factory reset without touching anything after it
NOTHING worked
My only theory is that battery became bogus and I have to send it for repairs... which means at least 2-3 weeks without the phone and a questionable result (they may as well not consider it broken at all).
Anyone have any ideas on what to do at this point? I'm getting desperate
I wanted to sell the phone in a couple months to buy the Z6 compact, but I obviously can't sell a phone with a faulty battery... which means I won't have funds for the Z6. Sigh..

And what about changing NOTHING but just turning the airplane mode ON?
edit: I made a mistake, not OFF but ON!
I had the same problem with my Xperia T and the cause was that I cut the SIM card by myself (from mini sim to micro sim) and I accidentally internally damaged the SIM card. The battery drain was TREMENDOUS and the phone was INCREDIBLY hot that time. I didn't know what was the cause and tried literally everything! Only turning on the airplane mode was stopping the battery drain so I thought maybe the SIM card is damaged. And it was! After replacing one, everything went back to normal.
But what I want to say - your case might be different but... just give an airplane mode a try.
If you are from Poland - check your private messages!
Flight mode does nothing. 100% -> 75% overnight.

Yep, like I said in first post, I did factory reset. Twice, in fact.
The phone doesn't eat more battery - with Screen On, it works like it used to, but there is no "screen off" time for battery: the drain seems constant. The phone obviously doesn't go into sleep mode.
Then try Safe Mode in which all 'foreign' apps are not included in the startup procedure.
- push the power button
- long press the Power Off on the screen
- Then a option to restart in safe mode will appear on your screen
- Now you can chack whether your battery drain is a software or hardware problem

Hardware sadly... the battery drain is exactly the same on safe mode+flight mode as with wifi+internet+all apps I have
I still have some months of warranty... should I send it?

I had the same problem with my z3c when I went back home to Cyprus for the holidays. In Germany my battery drain during the night is 5-6% with Wifi on (no Stamina Mode), but when I was in Cyprus my battery drain went to like 40% over night. Bear in mind my phone is completely stock, with some disable apps here and there. I used GSam Battery Monitor to see what was going on and I saw that my Phone Radio was using almost the same % as the screen was. I'm thinking maybe this happened because of the firmware or something, I'm currently using .264 for Germany, but when I bought the phone it came with the Greek firmware, and I changed it to the German one during the Lollipop updates. Maybe if you tried flashing another firmware?
