Hello xda community,
recently my Z3C fell and the screen got smashed so bad that the digitizer was rendered useless. I can't unlock my phone anymore and its not rooted. Luckily I had insurance and will get a replacement on tuesday, however I need to somehow control my phone through my pc to get some apps configured, make a backup and also wipe my phone. Does anyone know of a solution for controlling my Z3C without the touchscreen? I have USB Debugging enabled, but without root, I don't know what I can use in the place of Android Screencasting. Even being able to manage my toggles such as wifi and bluetooth would help out. Thanks!
Install app (with adb push from pc) like AirDroid to control phone screen via PC web browser.. good luck

Here is the scoop. I dropped my phone, broke the digitizer, and successfully replaced it. Ultimately, somehow, I managed to "knick" the ribbon that connects the digitizer to the screen and other hardware. I no longer have screen control, though I have keyboard control.
Is there any way to connect a mouse to the Droid 4 to open the unlock screen so I can back up my information before I get a replacement through insurance?
I would prefer to wipe my phone before it goes of to get refurbished somewhere, but if buying a lapdock is my only option, I think I will just pull my sd card and call it a day.
Thanks in advance for any help.
*EDIT 08/25
The last time I used my phone before breaking it, I set the usb interface to "Charge Only". I cannot access my files via usb. After installing ADB, I still have no access as the sd cards are not recognized by Windows
I take it my options are the following:
1) Get ABD working
2) Buy a lapdock or $80 docking station to access phone without touchscreen
3) Pull SD card and get by without pulling information off phone and without a reset
Any other options? Any help/advise?
So my nook has just decided that the touch screen just isn't going to work anymore. Otherwise everything else is perfect, what can I do to control this thing now? I didnt have usb debugging set up before, bluetooth is turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CWM recovery, there's no touch there and adb is enabled as well. So you can do whatever from there.
Redited. See here to enable usb debugging via cwm and adb: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13326806/enable-usb-debugging-through-clockworkmod-with-adb
Make sure you do a full recovery backup first in the event you mess up and then find you need touch to do something.
There's some other possibilities such as getting your hands on a rom build update with usb debugging already enabled.
And then from there you should be able to force install an app to gain control of android remotely or for usb hosting.
Got OTG to work, needed to short some contacts on the motherboard to force it. Used the info from this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46186315&postcount=7 Its not pretty but its somewhat useful now, Droidmote costs but it works pretty well as a remote. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver
I own an Xperia Z. Apparetly the water proofing feature failed and after trying hard to salvage my phone I can connect it to pc and able to access the file inside. PC companion detects it too. The problem is screen is busted and i would like to try to access it through mirror apps BUT I realised that initialising is required. Any solution you guys have in mind?
If screen is still show something, use USB-OTG cable, its cheap(0.5-3 Euro) and connect to it normal mouse to move on screen
If screen is totally dead, connect MHL cable(5pin not 12pin that is for samsung), its cost from 4 euro to 10 Euro, connect it to tv via HDMI slot and it stream your phone screen to TV(also its better than wifi streaming because no lags and it charge phone, good for playing GTA ;] and you can use it with other phones )
Both cables you can buy in any shop that sell phones, tech stuff or just get in on ebay.
PS. Also you can backup ALL data from sd card and build in memory, especially "android" folder. Install the same apps on other phone, then open them, close apps, and replace those folders with your backups, you gonna get the same data like you had in xz.

alright then i think thats the best method after all thanks a bunch!!!! I have been looking up and found out that there is a way to put my phone on debugging mode without the need to touching the phone through command prompt. Any ideas about it?
Nope, I dont like messing with anything that require commands, debugging or terminal. Its funny because for most of my life I use linux xD
But Im a person who think that if we have GUI... we use GUI. because using terminal for simple tasks is like using dog instead of computer mouse... its just retarded... But it just my opinion ;]
So I think that if you have access to your files, just copy them to other phone with the same installed apps, and try to recover your data. Or try those cables... Maybe someone else would have better idea or know how to use this debugging for that... :/
Hello everyone,
Just had a cracked screen on Z3+ and I can't seem to access my phone to backup important files. I need to enable USB debugging so I can control the phone from PC or use the "Detect USB Device" to enable the OTG and use a Mouse to control the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hello,
Unfortunately, with the Z3+ your screen becomes unresponsive once its cracked. The same happened to mine. The good news is there's a way of getting into the phone to backup and/or delete personal information before sending it off for repairs. You need a "otg usb on the go adapter cable", you connect one end to the phone and connect a mouse to the other end and use it to navigate the screen of your phone. There should be one among the accessories that came with the phone or you can get one on amazon or similar websites.
All the best.
Good evening,
I am at my wits end.
I am using a Samsung S5 (AT&T)
This phone is STOCK
USB debugging is OFF
I do not have any RECOVERY on this phone
The screen is BROKEN and NON-FUNCTIONAL
I have a PIN ENABLED
I've been scouring the internet for about 8 hours with no solution.
I have tried an array of programs, unfortunately, most of them require USB debugging to be ON, which, to reiterate, mine is set to OFF, as in NO USB debugging, otherwise I would not be here asking for help.
I have searched the internet in search of a way to turn USB debugging ON via my PC, but the only feasible method (using Samsung Find My Mobile) was futile as I do NOT have an account with SAMSUNG.
I wish to retrieve very important pictures and documents from my phone,
again,
to reiterate,
NON FUNCTIONING SCREEN, USB DEBUG IS OFF, PHONE IS STOCK, NO RECOVERY, NO SAMSUNG ACCOUNT AND IS PIN PROTECTED.
Is there any other way I can retrieve my files?
The only other method that may work is using a mini HDMI (will be purchasing soon) so I can display my phone onto another screen, and hopefully unlock the pin with a keyboard.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thank you very very much in advance.

Oh jeez... looks like you've really got yourself in a pickle here.
Unfortunately there isn't another way to retrieve your photos without a functioning screen (you can buy a new LCD assembly for about $150 on iFixit but you'd have to install it). The HDMI tactic should work, but otherwise you're pretty screwed D:
Let this be a lesson to others to ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF. That or use an external SD when you can :3
Sorry I couldn't be of much more help than that.

I appreciate your response, and I hope you can help me get out of this salty pickle
I may have to go the route of replacing the lcd assembly if finances allow (broke as a joke, right now)
So, I finally tracked down an MHL cable, and this is where I am stuck. I am able to output the screen onto my tv, however, I cannot interact with it when I plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the TV (the TV does not state incompatibility, however it said 'device unsupported' when I plugged in a ps3 controller [for poops and giggles, and with a little hope it would work] so that tells me the keyboard and mouse should work.
This is such a tease seeing my phones display, without being able to do anything. Oh my gosh.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and possibly a very obvious error I'm overlooking.
Thank you.
