Good evening,
I am at my wits end.
I am using a Samsung S5 (AT&T)
This phone is STOCK
USB debugging is OFF
I do not have any RECOVERY on this phone
The screen is BROKEN and NON-FUNCTIONAL
I have a PIN ENABLED
I've been scouring the internet for about 8 hours with no solution.
I have tried an array of programs, unfortunately, most of them require USB debugging to be ON, which, to reiterate, mine is set to OFF, as in NO USB debugging, otherwise I would not be here asking for help.
I have searched the internet in search of a way to turn USB debugging ON via my PC, but the only feasible method (using Samsung Find My Mobile) was futile as I do NOT have an account with SAMSUNG.
I wish to retrieve very important pictures and documents from my phone,
again,
to reiterate,
NON FUNCTIONING SCREEN, USB DEBUG IS OFF, PHONE IS STOCK, NO RECOVERY, NO SAMSUNG ACCOUNT AND IS PIN PROTECTED.
Is there any other way I can retrieve my files?
The only other method that may work is using a mini HDMI (will be purchasing soon) so I can display my phone onto another screen, and hopefully unlock the pin with a keyboard.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thank you very very much in advance.

Oh jeez... looks like you've really got yourself in a pickle here.
Unfortunately there isn't another way to retrieve your photos without a functioning screen (you can buy a new LCD assembly for about $150 on iFixit but you'd have to install it). The HDMI tactic should work, but otherwise you're pretty screwed D:
Let this be a lesson to others to ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF. That or use an external SD when you can :3
Sorry I couldn't be of much more help than that.

I appreciate your response, and I hope you can help me get out of this salty pickle
I may have to go the route of replacing the lcd assembly if finances allow (broke as a joke, right now)
So, I finally tracked down an MHL cable, and this is where I am stuck. I am able to output the screen onto my tv, however, I cannot interact with it when I plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the TV (the TV does not state incompatibility, however it said 'device unsupported' when I plugged in a ps3 controller [for poops and giggles, and with a little hope it would work] so that tells me the keyboard and mouse should work.
This is such a tease seeing my phones display, without being able to do anything. Oh my gosh.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and possibly a very obvious error I'm overlooking.
Thank you.

Here is the scoop. I dropped my phone, broke the digitizer, and successfully replaced it. Ultimately, somehow, I managed to "knick" the ribbon that connects the digitizer to the screen and other hardware. I no longer have screen control, though I have keyboard control.
Is there any way to connect a mouse to the Droid 4 to open the unlock screen so I can back up my information before I get a replacement through insurance?
I would prefer to wipe my phone before it goes of to get refurbished somewhere, but if buying a lapdock is my only option, I think I will just pull my sd card and call it a day.
Thanks in advance for any help.
*EDIT 08/25
The last time I used my phone before breaking it, I set the usb interface to "Charge Only". I cannot access my files via usb. After installing ADB, I still have no access as the sd cards are not recognized by Windows
I take it my options are the following:
1) Get ABD working
2) Buy a lapdock or $80 docking station to access phone without touchscreen
3) Pull SD card and get by without pulling information off phone and without a reset
Any other options? Any help/advise?
Hi guys,
I have an rather annoyning issue and I would like to have your advice...
In fact following a minor accident (fall from 50 cm on a wooden floor) the touch functionality was lost (the screen is fully normal but does not react to touching). :crying:
Just to be 100% sure I reflashed stock rom via Flashtool, but no fix... apparently it's a hardware issue.
So now either I must return it to Sony and ask for repair (and I suppose most probably they will ask me to pay) or try to open it using the service manual and check the connectors...
Do you think I have any chance with the second option? Has anybody of you already openened a xperia T? Is is feasible or I shouldn't try at all?
Thanks,
kosmepe
it can be opened, there are tutorial videos on you tube, just search for them.
However, before you do that try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39920703&postcount=11
I lost touch screen capability before and this process fixed it. However, this was a software issue and 99% certain yours is hardware, but before you open up the T try it, it cant hurt.

Thank you for the answer... but I don't think this is possible anymore. Since I reflashed stock rom, the usb debugging in OFF (by default) and so I cannot connect anymore via adb!

try connecting an external mouse using a USB OTG cable to enable USB Debugging again
I could use that even when the touch screen was not working. USB OTG cables are only a couple of quid and it may save you a lot of heartache...
So my nook has just decided that the touch screen just isn't going to work anymore. Otherwise everything else is perfect, what can I do to control this thing now? I didnt have usb debugging set up before, bluetooth is turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CWM recovery, there's no touch there and adb is enabled as well. So you can do whatever from there.
Redited. See here to enable usb debugging via cwm and adb: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13326806/enable-usb-debugging-through-clockworkmod-with-adb
Make sure you do a full recovery backup first in the event you mess up and then find you need touch to do something.
There's some other possibilities such as getting your hands on a rom build update with usb debugging already enabled.
And then from there you should be able to force install an app to gain control of android remotely or for usb hosting.
Got OTG to work, needed to short some contacts on the motherboard to force it. Used the info from this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46186315&postcount=7 Its not pretty but its somewhat useful now, Droidmote costs but it works pretty well as a remote. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver
Hi,
My phone, despite being in a supposedly smash proof case, has a broken screen. Ergo it will not let me backup onto pc. Is there any way I can access the data on my phone? Or are there places I can take it so they can recover data. Thankyou.
Warranty should help you backup your stuff.
Found this: "I just saw another thread and had an idea. You could buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter, plug it into your TV and see if it works. Then you could pop a mouse into the adaptor and bob's yer uncle.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
Steve"

Any usb-c to hdmi should work fine.
Beyond that you're stuck
I'm in a similar predicament. Were you able to resolve the issue? If so what'd you end up doing?
Hi,
I tried using a USB-C to HDMI/USB to no avail. Had the screen showing on the TV but mouse movement was never recorded.
Seems you need the primary monitor, the screen that is, to unlock.
So, I'm going to have my screen replaced during the week.
Hey guys,
I have a Samsung S10 with a fully bricked screen, but everything else works - even the below-screen fingerprint reader. The phone can be used via Samsung Dex for everything except for the so-called "protected" apps that only work on the phone.
Instead of forking out 300 dollars to have the screen replaced and end up with a subpar device anyway, I would like to use this thing for something. If I could get full control of the device via a laptop or a different device, I could for example use it as a web-connected camera or something.
Anyone got any tips for what I could do to achieve this? I have already enabled developer mode and USB debugging, but not sure where to go from here.
Hi, i also have a galaxy s10 with a broken screen, after enabling usb debugging you can use in windows a program called "scrcpy" to mirror you phone screen to the pc (you can also control you phone with the mouse and keyboard in windows).
With that you can do pretty much everything.
