I know, F users has old from s3 1.4GHz Exynos processor and H has Snapdragon 400. Is there better performance on gaming on H users?
What about other models?
F is better than H in gaming performance
and theres a custom kernel here on xda for the F if you flashed it you will be able to play GTA SA in Max graphics
while on the H you cant play GTA SA not even on the lowest graphics settings
tested by myself
OMG. But I can play other GTA series (GTA VC, 3) on Max?
P.S. if I flash custom kernel, I gonna lose warranty?

Hi! I just got one of these, the G800H model, and I'm pretty excited about it! Unfortunately, I won't be able to root until I can get my laptop screen fixed, unless there might be an apk that will root it. I tried about 10 last night and had no luck. But, I didn't realize there were 2 different processor variants. I thought they were all Exynos when I got it. I just want to be absolutely sure what I have, as I've seen here they are not compatible with all the same softwares, recoveries, and kernels. I'm running 4.4.2 now, and it finds no available updates (here in the USA). It's also the 16gb version. The reason I am a little confused is, from what I've read, I believe it to be the Snapdragon version, until just now finishing Level 1 of GTA SA, which played with only slight lag on the lowest graphic setting. It was very playable, and fun though. So are absolutely all G800H models equipped with the Snapdragon? I would sure hate to screw this up before I get the chance to love it, so I ask. Thanks for the all the helpful posts in the forum, too. I've learned quite a bit already, but want to read the more relevant threads for my specific model first. Thanks!
Wow!! Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies plays beautifully on highest graphics setting! Very nice! But I see gaming does suck down the battery pretty quickly....
@DarkLTU, you can try GTA SA. It's playing fine on my G800H at the lowest setting.

Ive used to play it on my s3 mini on mid graphics and even higher than mid without lag
also on my s4 mini with a custom kernel i can run it in high graphics without lag
i have no idea why the G800G cant handle even the lowest graphics :|
Idk.... My G800H is handling it okay. Not sure why, but it's GTA SA version 1.06.

Nevermind. I just tried it on my ZTE Zmax, which also has a Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305, and it's playing much, much smoother and faster on the Zmax. I didn't realize this because I had never played GTA SA before. On the S5 Mini, while riding the bicycle, I couldn't analog steer and pedal at the same time. I had to let go of the pedal to steer, then press the pedal again. I thought that was how it was supposed to be. But now, on my Zmax, I see that it works a whole lot better, but does still lag a little bit. Strange when they have the same CPU and GPU, and the S5 mini scores about 1000 higher in Antutu benchmarks. So, I was wrong. Sorry about that.

I think Samsung added too much bloatware.
BTW: Mali GPUs are better(a little bit) on GTA games(I don't know about other simulators).
I have a Tab Pro 8.4(which in benchmark is 2x better than my G800F) and it doesn't do better than my phone.

Hi guys
Did you tried Real racing 3?
the game obviously lags on the 4x . unfortunetly, no developer cares about the 4X, and i think we are gonna have big trouble with future games too. Its the same with the other games; only one core always active, from 700 (??) to 1500Mhz... a shame. One X does lag like the 4X as i've seen at youtube

Yes it also lagged for me really bad, and I was kind a sad from it, cause this was the game I was looking for. But after a small search here on the forums I managed to solve it somehow and make it playeble check this link and the first post on this page:

You can change graphic settings, which is set to high on our phone. I changed it to low and it playes perfect Yes sure its not that pretty but its playeble. goog luck
s3 also lag

theres a solution. It works perfectly fine for me now. If you have a rooted phone, tweak with the cpu speed and governors. The game works perfectly fine after that. However, the phone heats up and battery drains quickly.

Doing this and changing the governor to performance makes the game much smoother.
Try LG Gearbox. Set "Active Cores" to 1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854008
It will run without any lags but with low graphic details (which can not be noticed really)
Be aware that, setting active cores other than 4 with LG Gearbox, sometimes makes your phone freeze or restart.

this method worked fine for me. Originaly, the game setups our device on high or mid. I changed to low and now its not lagging and the graphics are still cool.
I didn't change any detail settings.I used No frill cpu to set the cpu to performance and the game runs fine.
I also tried "No frills cpu" with the "performance" option and saw that the game can be played without any problems.

After exiting the game i set the governor to conservative.I launched the game without changing it at all , In some scenes some lag is noticable but not in game.Playing is also fine.
To be honest, I'm sick of this crap. Most Wanted lags, games designed for Tegra 3 lags (Oh yeah, I have Tegra 3 inside, as you might know), Vice City is not even accessible for normal users of 4X HD and now Real Racing 3 lags also. I will throw this piece of crap away and will buy next Samsung or Google flagship this year. I'm also upset with nVidia. I'm happy my laptop is running by AMD stuff. How you can work with bunch of noobs (question for nVidia) in mobile devices area?
And, of course, brilliant 2012 summer flagship without Jelly Bean. Why HTC One X have this? Same ****ing summer flagship. Jesus Christ.

1x1.5GHz or 4x1.4GHz
you have to be aware that the tegra 3 will give the 1.5GHz only for 1 core, the max CPU speed for 4 cores is 1.4GHz.
so if a game is optimized for 4 cores, it will run much faster on 1.4GHz.
you should keep that in mind when you lock the CPU speed at 1,5GHz
lg have always this problem great hardware fail performance
There is still little information about the octa variant. No review about score and battery life.
So I was able to install antutu on demo unit. The score is high and the phone is not heating. All 8 cores can run together but Antutu reports the freq is 500-1300MHz and not recognize the cpu model name.
Please post your benchmark and battery life.

Damn. Exynos is consistently higher than the Snapdragon 801 in Antutu.
Only disappointment is the lack of LTE though(and ROMs too).
The new Exynos version come with new kind of fine-grained power management, overheating should be of the past and impossible.
Here's a benchmark video of the Exynos version.
It scores a chart topping 39029 on Antutu, that too without all the benchmark boosting involved!

Samsung advertises "True Octa Core" capabilities with this device and this certainly means that Samsung is shipping the device with HMP enabled.
Does HMP offer better battery management over the previous implementations?

It comes with HMP but that's not what I'm talking about.
The device comes with something called ARM Intelligent Power Allocation (IPA) which is basically a very fine-grained power tracking and estimation thermal framework to control DVFS. The device is capped at 3.5W TDP between all CPUs and GPU, so it should never cause a heating overrun. And it seems that it doesn't affect performance given the videos.

I've read the opposite from other people such as the OP. All depends on firmware you had on your version. We'll see when somebody actually bothers to properly test it. I'm just stating what I see in the code.
@dragon135
The 5430 has a HEVC decoder, dedicated clock domain on the display interface, higher clocks in general, GPU at 600MHz (no info on core count but improvement is a possibility), and a new dedicated A5 co-processor for audio decoding and encoding called "Siren". The HEVC decoder alone is worth it imho since it provides good future-proofing of the device.

The 900H I tested ( i made a vid on that ) was hot as hell after 2 or 3 antutubench. Not sure as if it was the final version but my first impression on the Octa was really really impressed with fluidity and speed. However, if watch closely to my vid, u can see the octa will slightly slow down and get hot after a period of hesvy tasks. I wouldnt say it might be at that overheated but I can feel the temp while holding 2 different variants in hands. Well, let see how the octa performs in the future. I might get 1 final H version to test to but I want to get the M8 to test as too many guys claiming the M8 is way better than the S5 hehe.

hi guys, what you think about the snapdragon version now that the nexus 6 has it...i mean is it better to get the s805 over the exynos....because the nexus is like the android benchmark phone ( not performance but support)...so maybe apps developers will support this version more....what you think...
We will have to wait and see the first Snapdragon 805 phone is the Galaxy Note 4 and so far on AT&T and T-Mobile, it's a beast. If your a diehard mobile gamer, there will be lag on GTA: San Andreas on Max Graphics. However other games like modern combat 5 play awesome.

I'd keep the Note if I were you.
The Note 4 Snapdragon probably won't be as good in terms of support as the Nexus 6, but it will be more than good enough I'd guess, based on the volume of support the Note 3 Snapdragon variant got. Plus there's some indication that this Nexus 6, owing to its higher price and phablet size might not get the popularity that the previous generation of Nexus phones got. It'll still be better support wise, but the price advantage the Nexus had is mostly gone.
Hardware wise, I don't think the AMOLED on the Nexus will be as good as the AMOLED on this phone (will wait for reviews). We should wait for reviews I think. My guess though is that the camera, screen, and a few other features will likely be better on the Note, plus it has an S-Pen. The other issue is a lack of a removable battery and expandable storage, so if you are like me and keep a lot of FLAC, you'll have to buy the higher end version (eroding the Nexus price advantage even more).
Keep the Note 4, wait for the Nexus 6 reviews, and go to a store to play around with a Nexus after it comes out.

as far as i know the td version is only for china,
and snapdragon is for the rest of the countries,
regarding speed and performance, snapdragon is a beast its to fast, snappier and gives an awesome performance
and once the kernel sources are released you can expect a hell lot of stable custom roms and kernels for the snapdragon variant,
I know tegra is for China. I got them both from China. I installed international stable rom on both. They are same in all aspects other than processor.

Just keep the snapdragon version, all around better and there's lots of development for the snapdragon version, plus one day you might need 3g, you'll be stuck on edge with the tegra.

Thanks everyone. The reason I wasn't trying to benchmark the phones was that I wasn't at home (no WiFi) and since tegra version doesn't have 3g I couldn't download antutu. Yesterday I ran antutu on them both. Snapdragon got 41000(40991 to be precise) and tegra got 36000.I am keeping snapdragon version.
Thanks again.Btw sometimes the back bottom and home buttons light don't work properly (turn off after some time). Is this hardware issue or what. I don't really have any problem. I just turn them all of from settings. just wanted to know if anyone knows how to fix this. the menu bottom lights work fine .
As we already know that in cpu exynod version wins the snapdragon loses
same here with gpu the exynos version has mali t760 wins and beats snapdragon andreno 450

But you are damned to run Touchwiz. We snapdragon guys are on CM12 and it's getting pretty damn stable already Needless to say it blows Touchwiz totally out of the water in terms of performance, fluidness and overal responsiveness. Ah and I noted 20%-30% faster NAND throughput times, not sure if that's due to Lollipop (ah yeah, forgot you guys are still waiting for Samsung to release lollipop, haha)
BTW, I didnt optimize anything at all, just benchmarked out of the box Touchwiz, as shipped. With tweaking I'm sure it's possible to squeeze out a bit more. I was just merely saying that the benchmark the OP referred to is completely wrong.
Ey, mine is bigger !!
But mine is thicker !!
By the end of the day few more or less frames per second won't make much difference but if you want enjoy Gear VR than only Snapdragon version is supported so far.

One thing to consider is that this article was released june 2014. This is way before it was released. In the article it state the snapdragon has a quad 2.5ghz processor but was reased with a 2.7ghz. If you want to know who's is bigger and who's is thicker you need to test them now and both plane stock roms out of the box.

It works Yeah I've read that a lot here "but I will lose the s-pen when flashing custom ROM". No you will not !! Not sure why people think that, maybe they think that because it's a samsung feature it's impossible to support on a non-samsung system ? Since Samsung is using the linux kernel, they are bound by law to release all drivers. So they did, including the s-pen, so it's supported out of the box on any custom ROM !
All you need to do is download the 'markers' app from the store and after you've installed it, you have an s-pen sketch board, and after that it just works on everything else too (on the CM12 interface etc) , including air support (no need to touch the display).
The only detail that I don't like too much is the pointer itself. On stock it's a small dot, via markers it's like a mouse pointer. However I read yesterday that people are working to change the pointer, it's possible via an overlay. But then again, it's not bothering me much anyway.
