I changed the gallery app through the camera app to the google photos app and I want to change it back to the default gallery app but I can't seem to change the default setting. When I click the gallery button on the right bottom corner of the default camera app, it sends me to the google photos app. I tried resetting the defaults for the respective apps but to no avail. Any suggestions?
Go into settings/apps. Then find the gallery app. Select it. And under wipe cache, there should be an option for "clear defaults".

Stock Captivate 2.1 Éclair. ADW launcher.
I had an app freeze up the phone. Had to remove battery and restart. Now the Master Bar (or whatever it is called) at the bottom no longer has the Apps icon in it! The other two are still there.
I now have no way to get into the primary apps list--can run only those that have shortcuts on the home screens. I cannot find any way to get the Apps icon back.
Help, help help please. This is a major fail.
Make sure your desktop is unlocked first ...
tap the screen, hold, then select "launcher actions" -> open/close app drawer
you should have a link to open the apps.
then you can drag and drop the link to the dock.
Or enable the awesome option in adw settings that let's you swipe up anywhere on the screen to open the app drawer.

While on your homescreen press menu -> adw settings -> general behavior -> swipe up actions, and select open close app drawer.

OK. Cancel this question.
Out of the clear blue, it reappeared, but this really scares me. Had it not fixed itself, I would have had a serious deficiency in the phone.
except, previous shows a method (thanks) to recreate the icon, so it would not have been fatal.

Ooooooo...I like this one. Thanks.
Any other nice tricks/settings?
I just noticed an icon in my app drawer called "Take Photo".
When you launch it the stock camera pops up. What is unusual though, is that the small square in the bottom left of the screen (in portrait mode) that usually shows the most recent photo taken is blank. And, if you press that button it doesn't show any photos.
If I launch the normal camera app, the recent photo is shown in that square...
Has this icon always been there, or did another app install it?
It doesn't appear in the list of apps in the app manager.
Thanks,
Rich

You have FriendCaster Pro installed that adds that icon to the app drawer.

It's probably a facebook shortcut icon.
Thanks. Yes I do have Friendcaster installed. Why do all of these apps keep adding extra icons.
At least the recent FB update removed the extra camera and messager icons when they realised people don't like redundant icons.

So here's what to do if you can't find a Sony App in the App Drawer or Settings menus;
1. Open Settings
2. Select Apps Menu
3. Scroll Right to "All Apps"
4. Hit the three dots in the top right hand corner
5. Press Reset All App Preferences
6. Go into Xperia Launcher
7. Open App Drawer
8. All missing apps should now be there again!
Seen a lot of Sony staff telling people to reset their phones when they have this issue, in fact there's no need to do that. Try this if it helps then I'm glad!
I guess you don't need to "reset all app preferences". Just reset the launcher that you are currently using e.g. Xperia Home, Nova Laucher and etc.
It's to do with the app itself not the launcher so resetting the preferences shows the app again. The launcher is an app in the phones way of thinking which is why the phone asks you to reselect the default launcher you want to use.
I've seen the ability to delete pictures from the camera gallery simply by sliding to right and swiping up or down to remove the picture. On my Moto X when I slide to the right to open the pictures I've recently taken with my camera I get a prompt that asks me "Complete action using" and lists the Gallery App or the Photos App. Does anyone know how to get rid of this prompt, I just want to be able to take a picture, slide to the right, and with a quick swipe up delete the picture. Thanks.

Yeah that worked, well that and also zooming out to bring up the "card style" that lets you swipe away the pictures
Thanks.

you sound new to the android world, so a helpful FYI:
whenever you install an application that does a similar function to another application, android will ask you what app you want to use and if you want it to be the default app for that function (once vs. always). you can always clear these settings in the app settings menu.
example: if you download firefox, android will ask you if you want to use chrome or firefox.
I was wondering if there is a way once I take a screenshot and it's in the notification shade and hit the edit button, who do I have it open in Google photos instead if Samsung gallary?
Is it safe to just disable Samsung gallary ?
Thanks

screenshot edit
You can download a good software from google playstore for the screenshot edit.
To download Google Photos app and set it to let photos be open in by default in the Settings

It opens as defualt for pics. But not the notification shade right after screenshot. Always takes me to Samsung editor
sorry if noob question.. is there any way to allow screenshot taking by only pressing the power button ? Pressing both down key and power button together for 2 seconds is too tired. That xposed module APM+ seems not working here for such function ?
