Root Note 5 Without Tripping Knox - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know i might be repeating a thread but i have to put this out once again in hope that there might be a way to bypass Knox and have a rooted Note 5. I saw this was done on the s6 edge and edge plus with ping pong root, is there anyway to findout how they did it and uf it can be done to our devices ? Thanks in advance guys and sorry to the others for repeating this.

Dont think so. There have been updates that patched the loophole pingpong got around.

[Q] at&t NOTE 3 4.4.2 (nc2) root?

I have the GN3 for AT&T. I received the 4.4.2 (NC2) update a week ago and my phone is stock . All I want to do is root . I don't care about the warranty. I've seen a couple of methods that supposedly work but has anyone successfully got it done and actually retained root access? Or is this a wait it out situation. Thankss.
I don't think there is a root method for nc2 yet sorry

I'm with about 95% of Note 3 owners from AT&T patiently waiting for some root solution for our recent OTA update to NC2.
Like the movie Mad Max world, there's a lot of barrenness out there. There is no root on the horizon.
I read of rumors how other NC2 variants have achieved root, however with our "locked" bootloader, we're very very limited.
I know with our NC2 update, it "updated" our already locked bootloader to some monstrosity that won't alow a roll back.
We practically STUCK! The few root options we had prior to the update, that didn't trip the KNOX flag, are non - existent right now, and who knows if they will ever will be?

This is a very popular device I'd wager someone will come out with a boot loader hijack eventually... If/when this happens we Will have full access to the system. But as far as root is concerned I'm sure it will arrive in time. My RAZR m is not a popular flagship device and it recently finally achieved root.

Yeah it appears that way. It just sucks that I put the update on my phone and it totally wasn't worth it I should have just kept 4.3 then I wouldn't have this problem. I'm going to keep looking and possibly try a few methods hopefully something will turn up soon.. let me know if you find anything!

This "no root" situation is very frustrating and makes the Note 3 useless to me. Just wanted to enter it into the "Smash the Past" contest to possibly win the new OnePlus One phone instead (http://oneplus.net/smash). Would so gladly shoot it through with an arrow from my hunting bow. No, I'm not a hunter, just enjoy target practice from time to time, and shooting this one would improve my aim accuracy for sure! Unfortunately will be out of country in the critical period. Darn! Anyone else would gladly smash the AT&T Note 3, if given a chance of getting another similar phone?

So dumb.
Why would you break a $700 phone for a CHANCE to win a phone that costs $300..? That makes no sense even if you were guaranteed one for breaking the Note.
How about selling the Note and use the proceeds to just buy a One, and have money left over?

It's just the frustration factor for me Would feel so good after all this trouble! I don't think I can sell it as is, I'm on a leaked KitKat version (MLG) with bootloader updated to the latest version, so I can't downgrade, and can't even upgrade to the official KitKat (when I would feel good about selling it). The actual "smash" part in the context comes only when you were selected/drawn to get the $1 OnePlus. But given that they provide you with a 16 GB memory only and there is no possibility to insert an SD card, the OnePlus in this particular configuration would be useless to me. Anyway, enough rambling. If someone hears about even a remote possibility to root this system, please post in this thread, seems like the most logical place to post such news.

so what?
gotta write petition to your congressman about AT&T+Samsung violating cellphone unlock law.

It doesn't matter what bootloader/ROM combo you have, you can always Odin back to stock, as long as you're not trying to go backwards

It seems he is using MLG software with NC2 bootloaders... He can't Odin anything with bootloaders less than NC2. And since we don't have NC2 Odin flashable software, he's screwed.

Yes, but so far nobody managed to pull the Odin-able files from the official KitKat (NC2) release. If you know where to get these files, please share. I hoped that Samsung rep at the local BestBuy could flash NC2 to my phone, but he still has only JellyBean.

Exactly. Bricked my phone trying to upgrade from rooted JB to the official KitKat (long story). Was stuck in a bootloop, and MLG Odin files with NC2 bootloader, prepared by carl1961 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51572014#post51572014) saved me. Actually MLG works very well for me, the only concern is that the eventual future OTA upgrades won't work with it.
I still don't know if Samsung rep with their SMART software would be able to flash the NC2 ROM over this MLG setup. Did anyone know this? The local stores around here (South-Western PA) still have only JB available. Actually last week when I went there, the rep thought that he can flash JB over my system, and I let him, curious to see what will happen. What actually happened was another "brick". The phone would do nothing except to start Odin download mode, showing an error message and advising to use Kies on my PC to restore it. The Samsung rep in BestBuy did not know what else to do and sent me home with a bricked device. Tried Kies, but no matter what I did and how many times I tried to debug the connection, reinstall its drivers etc., it would do nothing. Guess at that point I should go and complain to Samsung that they bricked my phone and demanding the fix. But I just wanted to use it, so I Odine'd back Carl's MLG system. Works like a charm again... Except that I miss root, of course.

vulcanraven6: Any idea if the official 4.4.2 (NC2 ROM) would flash over the leaked (unrooted) version of 4.4.2 (build number ending with MLG), while the bootloaders are already upgraded to NC2 version, with your SMART software? I can't find out if this works or not, nobody is posting such answer, and the local Samsung reps at BestBuy still have only 4.3 on their SMART stations... Would appreciate any info on this, thanks!
Greg
I looked into it. Apparently it can't be done from what my buddy told me but I'm not so sure tell the store to download the file it's In the computer we have had it for a while now unless it's verizon.. if u have trouble or anything give me the number to the store and I'll tell them what to do to get 4.4.2 in their system.

Actually I went today to BestBuy and finally they had KitKat on their SMART station. It flashed without any trouble over my MLG system (Leaked KitKat) and now my phone is on NC2. Almost sorry I did this before I could with some trickery start a mobile WiFi hotspot, now on the official NC2 version it does not work at all. Oh well. At least I'm "official now" on my Note 3. Thank you for looking into it.

Great! I'm glad it worked out. I hope we get some type of work around soon for 4.4.2 ... I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Is there still no root method for nc2 official?

Note 4 Rooting?

Hey guys. please help me. I bought a note 4 the normal one (SM-N910F) and have lollipop on it. I'd like to root it but I don't know if this is possible because it has lollipop. Can anyone give me some advice please. Or would you rather suggest me Rooting it or not since it's new.
If you root your device, you active the knox flag 0x1 and lost your warranty, but with root you can do all things like customize your device with a new rom and some mods, and the best option is delete all bloatware.
Root is admin permission.

I would always root the phone to get rid of bloatware and improve perfomance, get CPU control etc.
The best way for me to root it is the CWM or TWRP recovery method.

[Q] Any reason why I shouldn't update to lollipop before root

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm wondering if there is any reason not to update to lollipop before rooting.
I'm on N910TUVU1ANK4 right now and I've been holding out hope for a root that doesn't trip Knox but I'm starting to give up on that hope.
Anyways, this rom had been pretty solid, I've disabled as much bloat as I can without root and am a bit nervous to upgrade but I've now got an annoying upgrade notification and I'm thinking about just doing it.
So is there anything I should know before I update about rooting or even staying I stock and waiting for another root method?
Thanks so much.

Succeed at last "Root Galaxy S5 G900H kitkat 4.4.2 without void warranty, Knox 0*0"
Hello Guys,
Today I did it. Succeed at last "Root Galaxy S5 G900H kitkat 4.4.2 without void warranty, Knox 0*0"
All the guys who are from India & Bangladesh using G900H S5 know it's quoit impossible to root G900H s5 without tripping knox or void warranty! After a long research I done it. I am not a developer. I am just a simple user. I just use some tricks, rooting sample methods to do this.
Please give me some feedback.... I want to know, who want this step by step tutorial....
Here is my Screenshots
Let's Start......
I am not responsible if you brick your G900H..
Don't panic. Its just for my own safety. If you follow my instruction step by step, your job will be successful.
All the download link updated Check it now.
########First step#######
First of all you have to downgrade your rom to kitkat 4.4.2 from below link. Because I didn't try other version kitkat stock rom.
So, download the ROM first.
Download ODIN
OR
OR
How to downgrade from Android 5 to 4.4.2??
1. Download Given Firmware
2. Flash it via PC Odin. (Must be "Run As Administration")
3. Boot your phone into recovery mode and factory/data reset
4. Reboot
#########Second Step########
For security purpose
You have to block/disable knox security. So, download below application for PC/Laptop only.
or
or
Unzip those files and Install it to your pc. Don't run the program.
Then just update the application below link and Unzip exe file and paste it main program file and override the program.
or
or
Your device must be reactivation lock uncheck and USB debugging Check. Now run the program. (Must be "Run As Administration") @@@@Very Very Careful @@@@
It's time to disable Bloatware apps regrading knox security. Do not disable any other apps. Otherwise you will soft brick your device.
Now disable knox security apk given below. Find out and disable those.
1. com.sec.knox.bridge
2. KNOXAgent.apk
3. com.sec.knox.seandroid
4. KnoxSetupWizardClient.apk
5. com.sec.knox.knoxsetupwizardclient
6. com.samsung.knox.rcp.components
#########Third Step########
We are 90% done. Now it's time to root your device.
Download the given apk to your G900H device and install it. Don't run the program.
or
or
Now download Greenify donate Apk from below
or
or
Install this apk and run it. Check knox apps in system apps, they are running or not. If knox apps are running then must be hibernate those apps or again check it by ##Second Step##, knox properly disable or not. Otherwise you will trip your device knox.
########Root Your G900H Device########
Before run the root app you should be enable your phone display timeout for 10 mins and keep the mobile data on. Now run the root app and click the root button. Wait for 5 to 7 mins. Then you see kingroot/kinguser app icon in your device display. Now you are rooted Galaxy S5 G900H kitkat 4.4.2 without void warranty, Knox 0*0.
If you guys want, how to use supersu rather than kinguser I will show it later. Or you can take helps from other genius developers.
From my heart, many many Thanks those genius developers whose references I used.
I kept my promise. I gave full guide. It's my hard work. Please don't copy it to other webs or forums.

Congrats. Quite a few of us are awaiting for the tutorial, if you don't mind sharing. Thanks.
Looks like the OP disappeared on you guys. Anyhow I'm willing to bet he most likely used Wondershare MobileGo. It's a rooting program that roots your device via that program run on a pc. AND it installs SuperSU, not kinguser from what I've read.
To be clear - I do NOT own a G900H S5 so I can't test it first, but if you scroll to bottom of page and read the comments, someone said it works on the S5 G900H as of 8 days ago.

Just got a S6 Active and think I made a mistake

Straight up Question: Is there any way to root?
I just picked up an S6 Active with 6.0.1 on it and was planning to root it and use it for some in car functions that I need root access for. I should have done some more research prior to buying [emoji20] Am I just not finding it or is there no known way to root the S6 Active? I have searched and it does look like there is no solution, but figured I would ask before I sold the phone again :silly: Thanks all!
No reliably known method to root. Many claims, no evidence.

Thank you. I ended up selling the S6 and got another device that I rooted. Thanks for your help.
Well that's just great, another device down the not-getting drain. No root, no way for unlocking bootloader or no new nice LaOS.
