[Q] CM based roms ringer - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a question regarding CM based roms and the low ringer issue. Was wondering if that was ever fixed cause that was the only thing keeping from running those roms. TIA.

[Q] Hack to increase in-call volume?

Is there a way to hack the in-call volume on my captivate? Sometimes its barely loud enough to hear what people are saying.
Well...aside from the great advice already given, there is a method but it does not survive a reboot.
Use sgs tools to get into service mode using secret codes, then choose 5, 1,1, 1. Adjust volume settings there.
FYI, I have noticed that Firefly 2.1 has the best earpiece volume for phone calls. I have tried numerous other roms based on JPY, JPX, JS3, but Firefly is a 2.2 based rom not 2.2.1. It still works the best and I am using it with the Glitter Balls Kernel. Had to patch the mounting fix to mount the external SD Card though. You can find it here.

I am guessing that there is something different in the codes for the I9000 based roms that is not quite compatible with our cappys whereas the Armani Rom used for Firefly is compatible. Just my two cents.
JS5 + Hardcores latest has a nice call volume.
I agree -- the volume also varies greatly based on how good or crappy the other person's phone is.
As pointed out this should be in Q&A as not android development.
Thread moved.

[Q] Cyanogen Mod ROMS: notifications/alarms and A2DP

I am finding that no matter which version of Cyanogen's mod I use, either the official release, or one of the variants, they all have a similar issue:
When using my A2DP head set, all notifications and alarms will only play over the headset as long as it is connected. I have selected in the Cyanogenmod settings to force all notifications, ring tones, alarms over the speaker, but it does not seem to apply to A2DP.
Does anyone have similar issues, and has anyone found a solution if they have experienced this issue?
John
I can't be the only one having this issue. Its not there in stock and not there in MIUI.
I so much prefer Cyanogen roms though, minus this one issue. The ringtone also gets played over the bluetooth.
Its not an issue of turn off your bluetooth before you go to bed. Its also an issue of I can't hear my phone ring unless my bluetooth is on me.
Idiot, wrong section....
I see. Well thanks for the constructive post then.
And you're saying this behavior does not happen on stock roms, only cyanogen?

That is correct. Stock roms and MIUI roms do not exhibit this behavior for me.
that's a tough one. it will be hard to get the team to recognize and look to fix this discrepency. i had a similar "complaint" and i tried to go thru the code myself to see about fixing it. but your issue is way above my skill level so i dont knwo what you could do.

cm9-based roms' speaker don't work

the cm9-based roms' (owain, nova, pandroid) sound is EXTERMELY small and broke that even l can't hear the sound
except incall sound and earphone sound (i mean while i jacking my earphone, earphone works fine)
i don't know the reason but i'm sure this isn't any installing problem
CM9 ROM for O2X tend to have lower volume than stock, but not so low as to be complained. I have tried all ROM above and never experienced that.
Maybe something is wrong in your configurations..maybe some app is limiting it.
Or it maybe hardware problem of your speakers!! If you still have warranty, contact the supplier. (Flash stock ROM/unroot before that!!)

Have you checked it after wiping everything and flashing the ROM but without restoring the data? It can be some of you setting that makes sound off, and that specific setting data is recognized in Domination, nova, paranoidandroid but not in stock and other CM9 kangs.
Its a weird problem as actual sound drivers have nothing to do with ROMs. And there is no similar complain in ROM thread either. I guess you just have to work with working ROM and try above ROMs after they get an upgrade.
i have noticed the same. early builds of cm9 the sound was fine (unlocking screen selection etc).. the further on we have got the sound seems to be getting quieter.. only fix i seen was in qwians builds they had a system volume slider in sounds this helped alot with sound. not as good as stock but better than normal cm9..
hope this helps
Im experiencing quite the opposite, cm9 roms seems to have louder sounds compared to cm7.

[Q] Call Quality with Alternative CM10 Kernels

I am a long-time user of CyanogenMod, but I have never flashed a non-"stock" kernel into CM until recently. I tried the Devil and Semaphore Kernels, and while performance was excellent, my Captivate's speaker is problematic with both of them.
First, the speaker is extremely loud regardless of how low I set the volume. This volume issue does not appear when the speaker is disabled.
Second, when I activate the speaker, the person with whom I am speaking complains that I sound "distant and tinny," possibly with a lot of reverberations. This is not the other person's hearing him- or herself. If I disable the speaker, regardless of whether I actually move the phone toward my head, the problem seems to disappear. They can hear me clearly.
Re-flashing CM10 fixes both problems. I have not modified the default settings introduced by either non-stock kernel. Could these issues be due to audio tweaks introduced in those kernels? Does anyone have any suggestions for me if I would like to continue using one of them?
Thank you!

Volume hack possible?

I've asked in the aicp thread but no answer so far, so maybe here i'll ask again:
Is it possible to increase the in call and speakerphone volumes for lollipop roms?
Have googled it but seems like all the solutions are for kk roms.
Hope its possible, The aicp rom is working great but the volume is a bit of a deal breaker for my dad.. Poor hearing i'm afraid.
