Nexus 7 review: the best $200 tablet you can buy

it looks very promising and i might get one, but i think its a pitty it doesnt offer a MicroSD slot, that would have made it a must have tablet for me.

High praise from Engadget. I'm not worried about the lack of micro SD since I'm getting by just fine with the One X, and I was worried about it getting this.

i wish the review would have been more in depth.

It would've been if it was an Apple MiniPad.

It meantions a single long speaker is across the rear bottom of the device. Does this speaker only do "mono"? Or is it capable of full stereo?
I'm glad the review clears up the matter of MHL support, it's not supported per an update to the review.

mono only, from what ive seen. which is comparable to other 7"'s.

If you have smarttv with dlna support yes. Otherwise you will need external set box device that will stream your media to the tv

Slimport/OTG

Okay so i've been trying to look up some information about this and i've heard many mixed experiences
If i purchased this cable

Would it be possible to use both slimport and OTG at the same time
One guy in the comments said it worked on his Nexus 7 but would that same method work on this phone
Id love to be able to use my lapdock for something other than my raspberry pi

Anybody at all?

I really don't think it will be possible, from what I've read on Nexus 4 forum.

The problem with the nexus 4 was that the usb port didnt put out enough current to support it but i read that a guy with the 2013 model of the nexus 7 managed to pull it off
I think it really comes down to what the current over OTG is on the G2
I think the nexus 4 only output 300 mA but i could also be wrong
My G2 is currently shattered due to falling off the table so im waiting until i get my replacement to test it myself

OTG + Slimport, Its actually one of the comments on the amazon page for that cable, thats why i question it
If there is enough power to support OTG then slimport should work because i believe that slimport is powered over HDMI

Note 8 as iPod for car head units

Hello everyone !
I have a Honda jazz/Fit and it have a usb port that support iPod.
Is there any way the unit recognise my note 8 as iPod so I can skip music from the steering wheel ?
I also have a pioneer avh4200dvd in my Mitsubishi evo X . Is there any app or any other way to do it ?

Took the leap of faith, ordered one. Got it in about 2 days.
Tested it. It works nearly flawlessly. I use my Note 8 in a 2010 G37.

thanks for sharing the info... ordered a cable and anxious to try this with Tidal "HiFi" offline music via my car's head unit.

just ordered myself one. Unfortunately the blue tooth in my car has a 3 second delay even with my old V20 and now the Note 8. my car is on the compatibility list so fingers crossed.

Received my cable a few days ago and it works well with Google Play and USB Audio Player Pro. Unfortunately for me, when using the cable with the Tidal app, playlists/albums only play one song at a time. In other words I have to manually advance to the next song when listening to an album or play list.
Another nit is that music sometimes continues to play via the phone when a call comes in when phone is connected to Bluetooth in my car.

GPS - I've used it extensively with Google Maps for driving and turn by turn, just fine.

Gavin would u mind to try something out for me please? Since the aod doesn't work with 3rd party apps like whatsapp etc to display notifications on the always on display, possibly apps from playstore like would work? Like always on amoled beta? Reason why this is bothering me that much is the , i am part of few WhatsApp groups for android and also on telegram, so basically I don't need to wake the screen to see if new messages are in, all comes thru aod, its the biggest concern for me goin from pixel over to mate 20 pro, thanks in advance Gavin if u could spend few minutes and test it out, thank u regards Martin

It would be great if you could provide a review regarding the stereo loudspeakers, how does it sound compared to S9+ and the likes? does it have Dolby Atmos settings?

Can you speak about the headphone volume please. I notice people always talk about loud speaker but reviews rarely ever talk about how loud the phone is in earphones as Huawei phones generally seem to be low in earphones just like Sony phones. If this phone is not loud in earphones then note 9 it is

My audio reviews always cover that. Wired. Wireless. Speaker. USB c. Using dacs. And headphones that sound best with phone. Etc.

Awesome, looking forward to it as I have until wednesday to pre order to get the free watch and charger if I go down that route.

Handon Mate 20 Pro today. Overall it is very good but some sides still not good as it should be . But I can buy it for 650-700$ so it worth to try

I think any compatible usb-c to HDMI Dock from Amazon should work just to display on TV. Not sure.
