I have a Nexus 6 bought directly from Motorola but with a T-mobil sim from my
last phone. I'm running the MRA68K factory image of 6.0., and have never been
offered an OTA update.
Let me tell you what I THINK I know.
Although MRA68K does include the T-mobile band 12 and wifi calling feature,
for some reason T-mobil was not happy with it due to some bug revealed
in testing. MRA68X is the release they are happy with, and is what T-mobil
users running 5.1.1 are getting OTA. This OTA is not usable for phones running
any of the 6.0 release. There currently is no factory image for MRA68X.
Here is what I don't know:
- Will MRA68X be eventually released as a factory image.? Usually that comes
before not after the OTA. If not it would seem the need to flash a 5.1.1 image
to be able to take the MRA68X OTA.
- Is the T-mobil specific release a one time thing, or will there be a sequence of
T-mobil specific releases as in 5.X?
- I presume that when the phone checks for an update it bases it on the carrier's
SIM. Just curious, is it Google downloading the update but subject to the carrier's
instructions?

I have run all the MRA builds (K, N, R) on T-Mobile and they all support and have fully functioning WiFi calling, Band 12 support, and VoLTE. Not sure what's specific about X but I decided to switch to it just because it's "official".

For X I flashed the factory ProFi 5.1.1 then sideloaded the 48I to 58X OTA.
T-Mobile and ProFi will both use X.

I don't see where it says *only* L releases get the update but it may just be a matter of semantics.
"To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:"
^^^ I take this to mean that you must have at least L to get the update. If you are on M already then you still meet that requirement. That's just my thoughts though. Dez is always in the know and that's what he said. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I noticed that your signature says "Nexus 6 rooted". If that is in fact the case, you will not be able to install any OTA. Neither via sideloading nor "over the air". The installer looks at the system file, and if there is ANY change from stock (including being rooted), it will abort the install. I've had it fail, even with a couple of apps frozen.
It looks like the document
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18109
has been updated. It now list MRA68K as eligible for the OTA to MRA68X. Earlier
it just listed the L* releases.

No, the last version is 4.4.3 and if you really need to update (there is no reason to do) first install a retail version firmware for your X model. (If there)

First, the person who answered you should have asked which device you are using (model number), and who your carrier is.
Second, the majority of us here don't recommend that you flash another carrier's firmware to your phone. Many things can go wrong, and if you ever revert back to the correct firmware, you have to use extreme caution to make sure you don't flash an OLDER firmware version to the phone, which can brick it!!! If you choose to flash a different firmware to your phone, do it at your own risk. You could end up with a paperweight.
Third, both the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 updates are very MINOR updates. It isn't worth bricking just because you aren't patient, simply to (possibly) get another hour or two of battery life or a few small bug fixes.
I highly recommend that you simply be patient. Your carrier WILL release 4.4.4 eventually, and at that time you can simply take the over-the-air update assuming you haven't modified your /system or flashed custom recovery.
the update won't be noticeable to the users. it is bug fixes and a few tweaks. better to wait for 5.0 to come out

Slight correction... that is NOT the complete firmware list.
That site contains a copy of any SBF found or leaked... Sometimes it takes weeks after an OTA is pushed before a leaked SBF of that version is found and posted (think ATT 4.4.2)
They are "leaks" in the fact that they are not meant to be released to the public. As for how they "make it out" to end up on that site, well that is a different discussion that I don't want to get into.
That site is neither owned, operated, nor supported by Motorola.

also if you have had a locked phone PREVIOUSLY but unlocked it later, and you are using a carrier thats not the orginal one, I think that could also factor in as to why you are not getting updates. For example, if you had a moto x for ATT and you unlocked it to use for TMOBILE, you might have a delayed update or in some cases no update at all. Just my 2 cents.

It does not matter that your phone is unlocked. This is totally unrelated to receiving updates. Just FYI, NO ONE with a Moto X has received 4.4.4 yet (except MAYBE soak-testers). Only a handful of carriers are on 4.4.3.
The 4.4.3 upgrade was CANCELLED do to a bug being found, and instead, all the variants that hadn't released 4.4.3 are going to be upgraded STRAIGHT to 4.4.4 (skipping 4.4.3 entirely).
I don't think you understand just how much testing has to go into these upgrades before they are released.
Here is an EXCELLENT article that should explain it for you. The part you are interested in is called "The Big Hold-Up"

It'll update just fine with a unlocked boot loader. If you are rooted tit won't take.

They're not US only. Its just they're the only US carriers that can use that particular update...its the generic update. Other US carriers (namely TMO and Verizon) have their own specific updates. That's why the generic update can only be used by the other US carriers.
Received an update notification for my n6 in Canada. Being rooted and running a noon encrypted kernel had to skip the OTA. Fastboot the sprint/USC factory image last week and haven't had an issue.

All nexus 6 ROMs will work on all nexus 6 without issue. Just Verizon and TMO users will lose features, hence that Z build saying USC / Sprint only. Actually its not USC / sprint only. Its USC / Sprint only in the US, and everyone everywhere else in the world
I'm on the o2 UK Network and running android 5.1 LMY47D it's asking me to update to 5.1.1 but I don't know if I should because the only 5.1.1 ROM's I've seen have been US Carrier Specific, not sure what to do, help?
You wouldn't be offered the update if it wasn't relevant. The ones on the Nexus Factory images website, suggest they are US carrier specific but that is not really the case. The difference with some Nexus 6 in the US is that the carriers must approve the updates before they are rolled out. When they say Sprint / USC only for example, that means out of the american carriers, only they can use this build. Most of the updates are international generic. So yes, update

Yes it does. Every single factory image works on every single Nexus 6. The reason it is marked up as this is the latest updates for T-Mo and Verizon add carrier specific things like WiFi calling and better VoLTE respectively. So the recommendation is if you are in the US, those images are for SPRINT / USC only.

Hi,
I have a few questions regarding updating my T-mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T)
And have not yet received the 5.1.1 update I'm on 5.0.1.
So if I do this manual update will my warranty remain?
Is it safe?
Will my phone still be official stock?
Will I be able to use automatic updates in the future?
Thanks.

T-Mobile has not received an update to 5.1.1 for the SM-910T. The only phone that has 5.1.1 is the SM-910T3 which has different hardware. Be sure you know which phone you have before you even consider upgrading.

Wow didn't know there was a difference probably why I kept getting Auth failed and gave up
T-Mobile has the update for SM-N910T, they just haven't released it. Samsung gave the update to the carriers. Sprint is the only carrier to release the update to the public OTA, to this date. Like Alkali said, SM-N910T3 has 5.1.1 and that's because the phone is a revised version and was shipped with the latest. As far as I know, you can only get the T3 from a warranty standpoint. I could be wrong.
That's why. I haven't done it lol I'm on jump and getting the note 5 trading my note 4 in. I figured it will tick them off that my phone is on 5.1.1 probably be like "how did you get this build?"

What's wrong with Sprint, why didn't they release the new update? The unlocked device was updated almost a month ago, which means the software was sent to Sprint! How can we figure out when will Stupid Sprint release that?
The carrier devices are always 2-3 months (if I remember correctly) after the unlocked devices.
That much?
As per the tweet by Mo Versi (VP of HTC) we should be receiving on Jan 4th. Most of the time, things got delivered on the date he announced. Hoping for Jan 4.

Unfortunately the RUU downloaded from HTC website won't work with my factory locked original phone, what the f.
After reading the webpage carefully, using the RUU from there to program will erase all the data on the phone, so I don't know if that's what I want. I'm just becoming too lazy to deal with all of these
