Nexus 6 5.1.1: Stuck In Boot Animation After Rooting - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Nexus 6 stuck in boot animation
I've searched but was unable to find anything to help. I am a noob to rooting. The other day I rooted my Nexus 6 using chainfire. After I installed an app I wanted. In order for the app to work I had to reboot. I rebooted and now the phone will not fully reboot. It gets stuck in the floating dots. Anyway to fix this? I'm on Lollipop 5.1.1 T-Mobile. Thank you.

what app did you install? thats a very important question..
you can always go into your recovery and wipe data, which will let you boot, but you would have to reset up your phone after that.

I installed 'Inversion UI Layers' and 'Layers Manager'. Both from the Play Store. Is wipe data a adb/fastboot command?

yes. in your phones main settings, backup and reset, press the factory data reset(but you cant do it because you cant boot up). you can flash twrp for a one time use only, btw. instead of flashing it permanently. use fastbboot boot recovery recoveryname.img instead of fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img. after, it will disappear and go back to stock recovery.

[Q] 4.4.2 CM11, return to all stock?

I have an HTC One on sprint, running a CM11 nightly. While I liked it for a while, due to business aspects, I need to go back to iphone. I am just gonna trade someone I know for my HTC for their iphone. I guess what i was wondering is what is the process of returning it back to stock? They still want root access, just not a custom ROM. I'm S-ON, HBOOT 1.56.000, Radio, 1.00.20.1100, and OS 4.06.651.4.
I'd like a step by step process hopefully (not an expert on androids, more used to iphones). But i do have some experience with cmd. I was also wondering if I turn it back to stock, will i lose all of my data (contacts, photos, etc.) I know you lose apps, but when I flashed to CM11, I backed up with TWRP, and then had to use CWM, so i couldn't restore my contacts. I do have a backup of my original ROM before i went to CM11 in TWRP, but I had to flash to CWM, so I'm not sure if it's still there.
Also, if they wanted to keep the CM11 on it, would there be any problems switching phone numbers and whatnot on it? I'd assume not because it still has an IMEI, but just wanted to make sure.
Find a flashable zip of twrp and if you didn't delete it ur backup of ur stock rooted should work...u have to have Sprint base Rom to swap phones so NO cm11 will not work when you go to trade phones

I tried to reflash twrp. It wouldnt work. it wouldnt recognize touches.
So if I want it all stock, except for root, can I use an RUU? I know it wipes everything, but better than nothing. plus i could sync with htc manager and get everything i had back.

what version of twrp did you flash, should be 2.6.3.0 or higher. thus the touch problems, you don't need to ruu.(openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7wls.img)

I used that originally i believe. So if I re-flash my recovery to twrp, I can restore from my back up, even if I was rooted? and would i still have CM11, or stock sense?

tried to no avail. I tried and it was stuck on HTC logo for 15 minutes. I reflashed to CM11, and im downloading the RUU now to completely wipe/restore it. Unless i did something wrong? I erased cache using adb, then booted up, restored my stuff, and it said successful, but it was on the htc logo. I tried again to the same thing. then i reflashed cm11 and it worked. did i forget to do a factory reset before i restored everything? it said it wiped stuff before it restored it.

after you erased cache did you flash recovery, then reboot recovery and restore a backup
when you are on the htc logo hold the power button down til it reboots and see if it goes past the htc screen
you don't have to factory reset to restore a rom just hit restore and select the backup

Get into bootloader mode and flash back to stock system. Be sure and boot into recovery after you flash stock system and then wipe the cache. Then reflash the image you want using mofo. Then wipe the cache after you do, then boot into system.

Are you sure the stock system images is flashing? What image are you flashing?
Also, I don't know what you mean you can't get to the wipe cache screen - it is recovery. I have all of the instructions on how to get into bootloader mode and flash back to stock as well as getting into recovery here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/noob-guide-rooting-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3097375
Also, if you are having trouble flashing the sparsechunks from RJ's site, then you can download the fxz and flash the single image system.img using mfastboot.

OK well there are special instructions on what you need to do the first time you flash an image with Xposed. Both ClydeDroid and mikeoswego have those instructions in their OP with the links to the images.
I've flashed both of these files from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...mages-mofo-t3100601/post60537982#post60537982 and I still get stuck at the M logo.Wiped and didn't wipe cache and still nothing :/

So to summarize - you are back on stock and everything works fine? But when you try to flash an image via mofo.exe, it never boots and instead hangs on the M?
That sounds to me like your image is corrupted. I would re-download the image.

Be sure and wipe cache after flashing and let it hang at the M for awhile too before you conclude that it is not going to boot.

Woot.I have root again.I guess it was a dead file. Thanks

Please help with endless boot loop animation.

My phone was unlocked and rooted but running the factory 5.1 ROM. I had a 5.1.1 update this morning but it erred during install. I removed the root using Kingo Root and that's when the endless boot looping began. It appears as if my phone now both locked and unrooted but won't complete the boot process.
I tried unlocking the phone again using Nexus Root Toolkit but it tries to boot the phone, so I can turn on USB Debugging maybe, which doesn't work so I can't find a way to unlock my phone at this point.
I tried flashing a factory image using Nexus Root Toolkit and get the below errors. Nothing changes after completion.
TWRP will not install, I assume because the phone is currently locked.
Can somebody please give me some options to try? I'll do whatever works. I don't mind stock rom, I don't mind a custom ROM. Anything that works is OK with me.
I would love to get TWRP on there if possible.
I think my first step should be to get the phone unlocked again but is there a way to do it with a phone that boot loops constantly?
Thanks.
Also, doing a wipe and reset in recovery didn't help at all.
If fastboot format userdata and cache doesn't fix it, there's nothing you can do.
This is the image I get when I try to unlock using Nexus Root Toolkit. Obviously the boot loop starts and I'm unable to complete the unlocking procedure.

Think what you will. But the answer is no.
I have two options in recovery; Wipe Cache Partition & Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
I've done both and it still boot loops.
So this phone needs to go in to the shop for service?

fastboot format userdata and cache is your only option.
It appears that the boot loop is still present after fastboot formats.
There is nothing else I can try, correct?
If not, I'll take it in.

Stuck on boot animation after ****ing around with layers (SlimLP)

Flashed SlimLP and had been succesfully using it for about a month before I decided to **** around with layers (Evolve and Commute specifically). When I reboot to apply it got stuck on the boot animation, I left it to charge overnight and it was still stuck in the morning. Tried wiping the cache partition but don't want to do a factory reset if there's a way to salvage it (nothing too vital, just pain in the ass having to reinstall all my apps, etc.)
Total noob to flashing and ROMS, etc. No backups that I know of, not sure if there's a custom recovery. Only found the Amazon one and Fastboot mode.

You are lucky you can still access the stock recovery. If your device had 5.1.1 then reinstall FireOS 5.1.1 via stock recovery. From that point you can re-root & reinstall your rom + apps & stuff.
Be thankful you're not bricked & don't screw with layers if you don't have a 5.0.1 device. The Fire does not play well with many layers.

It seems you're problem is installing TWRP and not Xposed, therefore you need to search in your fone's forum for answers as to how you can install TWRP. When you succeed in doing that, come here for problems about Xposed.

Odin mode is download mode, you should figure out how to get your phone into recovery instead.
And in lieu of twrp, you can flash the xposed zip with flashfire from the play store.
