I know the FAQ says I have to post this to the ROM's thread but I don't have sufficent permission for that.
So this is related to this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/xperiasp-locked-bootloader-lbl-t2947194
I have installed it and set it up, and after I tried to install google play games. It says "error -505". I googled this, found out that this is some kind of permission error, I wanted to try solutions but almost all suggested removing the conflicting app (which is the google play services app and if I remove that I can't install google play games.. nice loop).
I have no idea how to fix this, but one of my friends said something about "libril" (he is unreachable at the moment). I searched for that as well in the aformentioned thread, but no luck.
I know this question really doesn't belong here. But if anybody could even just point me in the right direction, that would be most helpful

xamol,
Sorry for the delay, we have bee busy today. If I understand you correctly, you are using Google Play Store, when you
go to some of the applications like Google Maps, Google Play responds with:
"Your device isn't comparable with this version"
The reason is that Google Play does a simple hardware inventory, saves it to an XML file, this XML file is
queried by certain software vendors. In the case of Google Maps, the Kindle is missing a GPS device,
this is the reason for the error. Now, we have been able to "side load" Google Maps, Latitude, Local, Navigation
and many others, you can take a peek here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36121991 if you need any help, just send us a
message. We have been able to side-load many applications.
I installed CM 11 on my NOOK HD accoridng to instructions by "verygreen". I opened the game requiring Google Play Services(it allows me to log into Google+ account) and when I firstly clicked on Sign In button there was a dialog informing that I have to update my Google Play Services or the app won't work properly. So I went to the Play Store installed the update and after this the game doesn't even start and gives only FC error. Logcat says "The Google Play services resources were not found. Check your project configuration to ensure that the resources are included.". Any ideas what can be wrong? I would be grateful for any help.

My best guesses:
According to searching and the error itself it appears to do with something blocking it from getting a service from google services...
For instance, if your using cm's privacy settings, that could be blocking the app from having access to one it wants.
Another instance, if it requires location, and that's disabled in cm's settings then it may not be happy.
It could be also possible I think that it may not be compatible with cm11 though since you didn't mention the game name, you'll need to figure that out and the problem too.
Addition: Double check to make sure you flashed the correct gapps for cm11.
Hopefully this helps.
My guess would b wrong google apps maybe try flashing correct one for the version of android in use.
I installed gapps for CM11 downloaded from Cyanogenmod Wiki "http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps".
It's a game which I'm trying to develop and it should work on CM11(it worked before adding Play Services).
I also check privacy settings in CM and there is nothing blocking the app from usage of Play Services. Any other ideas maybe?

Oh... well if your developing it then doesn't the results that come up with google search not show you the answer? That's all that comes up after all... the answers for developers and how to fix that very problem.
Nope, not really. I searched the web, but so far I haven't found the exact answer which will be helpful in my situation, although I tried a few. That's the reason why I posted a question over here. I think that's time for giving another try to Google search.
"Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped" on Nook HD CM11
I've had cm11 for a while and I don't know why but every time I open Google play it closes with the message, "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped working". I searched it up on Google and there was a step by step process but in the end I still had the same problem. Every other Google app works like Google plus, Gmail, YouTube, and etc. I don't know if it had something to do with me installing gapps but if someone could help me solve this I'd really be appreciated.
Hello,
My phone (out of warrenty) was dropped in water, so had to change some hardware outside. After which I kept getting play store errors. Many apps would also throw random errors, even after doing factory reset. So I thought may be ROM too need to be flashed due to new hardware. I searched for the Stock ROM (Kitkat 4.4.4) and found one (phone shows 21.11.27.titan.retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03retin). I flashed it (I just had to run a file on fastboot mode - Auto Restore Script.bat). After that I havent been able to install apps through play store. It keeps popping error 495. I can install a few apps at random, but not everything. I did the whole process at least 3-4 times again, changed wifi connection etc. No luck. Any help here?
PS: I am totally a new person to all android related stuff, but ready to learn if right instructions are given. Thanks.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
yuppie, on lollipop now!
@garrittw: your response is a little too late You see, in my desperate attempts to make my phone work, I got it on Lollipop 5.0 (used the files from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...m-1-tweet-rate-thread-add-poll-titan-t2989793)
The end scene is that everything is working on my phone. But it took a lot of time to make it happen. After installing gapps, I continuously got google play services error. The same play store problem persisted too. But this time something different happened. After 2-3 attempts at downloading one app, i got it to donwload. Also updated google play services somehow. It was frustrating though as for every app download I had to try multiple times. Surprisingly amazon appstore downloads were successful. So I also used that to download the ones available there. But I am happy now that my phone works perfectly with all the apps that I need up to date . I am feeling so happy about it, as this was my first stint at android troubleshooting as a total novice
However I still think I will run into the same play store problem whenver I would try to update any app, so I think I will use your patch anyway. Thanks
JJD Edit
Please don't discuss or recommend lucky patcher on xda. Moderaters will not tolerate software that is primarily warez related. Threads get closed because of that. Thanks

Try this:
Settings > Apps > swipe until you see category "all"
Search for "Google Play Store" and clear data.
Search for "Googe Services Framework" and clear data.
Now open the play store and try to install something.
If you still get 495 go to Settings > Accounts and delete your Google account. Restart phone and add your Google account. Should be fixed.
tried everything on 495, no luck

I had tried ALL the suggestion on the internet for 495, nothing worked. Even flashing multiple versions of systems dint work. Still get 495 at times with the 5.0.2, but works when i try multiple times. I also tried different wifi connection, no luck there too
Gee, I cannot wait until all the senior members rip me a new one and say "if you'da just searched _____ you'd find it" or something similar I'm not THAT dumb, I DO perform some research to the best of my ability, but not all the time do I find exactly what I'm looking for, so please, just save it for a rainy day people...
THE QUESTION THOUGH:
Through XDAs homepage I noticed there's many posts for APKs being released for apps (mainly through APK Mirror)
What I am trying to find out is:
1) Since most of the APKs I am interested in are just more current/updated versions of their Play Store counterparts (ie - Facebook that I have currently is version 33.xxx.xxx downloaded from Play Store yet version 35.xxxx is available through APK Mirror) do I have to manually keep sideloading APKs in order to update these apps or will they self-update somehow?
2) Spotify is another example I have in question - if I uninstall it from my phone (nexus 6) then download and install the APK from APK MIrror does Play Store register that I have it installed on my phone and list it under "My Apps" and update it when the Play Store version that's available surpasses my sideloaded APK version?
I appreciate all your assistance.

first off, questions go into the q&a/help section, not into the general section.
if you install an app not from the play store, then you have to keep updating it that way. only if you install through tbe play store will the play store see your app, and let you update it.

You could just say "I've searched and couldn't find an answer" rather than being confrontational.

If the app fingerprint matches, it will show in play. It probably won't let you update it though. For example I bought office suite pro from Amazon. It shows me that its installed in play but I can only update via amazonm
thank you.

I suppose beginning my question as I did was indeed confrontational, however, I felt as if I needed to because there's ALWAYS someone there to make people feel like garbage for asking questions and since I'm new I felt as if I needed to defend myself beforehand.

And unfortunately they are right most of the time though putting people down isn`t intended i`am sure, thats how you experience it. You turn to people with a question who read up and aquire some skills during time and you defend yourself by saying i`am new here and did almost no research to find the answer to my question. You cannot tell me that on the WWW there isn`t an answer too your question

Here's a question along those lines - You update say GP Maps thru apkmirror. That's the same sig as in the store, my question is if one "pre-loads" it from the APK by sideloading, and it shares the same signature, why later on would I receive another "update" within GPS for it for the version I already installed by APK?
That would lead me to believe the sig's are not exact.
Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.
