Infinix Case - Infinix HOT 2

I bought the gold color phone from Jumia. It pointed me to a gold Infinix case, so I bought the case at the same time. It was practically a no-brainer, since the case only cost $5 USD more.
I've never used a case with a cover before and the cover was putting me off, but it turns out to be no problem. The cover also provides some degree of privacy if, e.g., I'm texting in a room full of people.
Tho plastic and lightweight, the case seems to offer good protection. I've dropped the phone 5-6 times from waist high, and no damage, not even a scratch.
I got this nifty app on the Playstore, Autoscreenonoff(SmartCover), and it works really well with the case. It saves alot of battery, I hardly ever touch the power button now, and toggling is super fast.

The original flip case from Infinix only cost 3.5 USD in my contry hehehe
I didn't buy it though. I buy the cheaper one, 2 USD for jelly case with bonus of screen protector

am waiting for the time when they will release fancy cases for the infinix hot 2....am very stylish when it comes to phones

I only spotted 2 type of case up until now. Infinix official flip case, and jelly case. I think this phone will only have limited option of case due to not too popular like other phone, so only a few company willing to make custom accesories

OtterBox Commuter Case

Nice case for the droid/milestone.

Nice case. I liked my BG case, but the tabs keep wearing down. After the 3rd replacement, I went naked again.
Thanks for the pictures! I want to buy a case for my Milestone, but I'm not sure which one to go with..
I hear Seidio and InvisibleShield are not bad either, would you have any experience with them?
About the Otterbox, does it add much bulk to the device? I like the size of my phone as it is, but I don't know if I'd like it a lot bigger. And how is the feel of the case?
Also, does the Otterbox come with a screen protector? How good is it?
Thanks for your time!
otterbox adds some bulk, but the protection is worth it... really. it IS a little slippery compared to the naked phone, but otherwise I don't have any complaints. hear good things about the Seidio too.
as far as screen protectors go, the one that comes with the case sucks. pick up a pack of these instead. Got the anti-glare ones (hatehateHATE cleaning fingerprints off of my screen all the time), and its been great so far.
screenguardz.com/screenguardz-motorola-droid-cases-screen-protectors-covers-shields-skins-films.html
I did have a I.Shield on my Milestone. I didnt like it. Personally, I like a bulky heavy phone so the combo Otterbox/milestone is perfect (My HTC Touch Pro2 is bigger). I have a Brando SP on my Milestone.
I have the otterbox commuter for my Droid and the bulk isn't too horrible, but the top-right-hand corner of the case doesn't like to stay put on the phone (e.g; It's loose). This is the second replacement, so I'm sure it's a common issue.
I've used both otterbox and seidio as well as some generic branded ones and have to say Seidio feels much lighter. Comparing the protection I'd have to go otterbox as on the inside of the case there is a layer of cushion so I guess that would protect it more. With that said I have dropped my phone with seidio on carpet and it was fine. I'm not using a case atm I find that any case will add too much unnecessary bulk.
I too am using the Otterbox Commuter Case, and it works well for me. It does add a little bit of bulk, but I don't find it to be too bad in exchange for the level of protection it gives.
I had the Otterbox on my Milestone until the top ring broke.
Called Otterbox and they said that it's a design flaw and offered me a new case (they said it will brake eventually) or a full refund. I took the refund.
I'm glad they have great customer service and take care of problems.

I strongly agree with this. My top ring broke as well and I put a call in to Otterbox. The customer service is excellent and had a free replacement in under 1 week. I am impressed...
I usually like Otterbox cases but this one isn't one to go with. It's badly made, not like the other ones

Regretfully, I must agree with you. The replacement I got from Otterbox fared little better than my first one. The weak link is the "ring" around the screen. It breaks far too easily.
Otterbox has usually made decent cases, but not in this case.
I've gone with the Zagg shield instead. I would have preferred the Otterbox, but what can one do...
Anybody got first hand experience of Otterbox protecting your milestone?
I use the otterbox too. Except the size increase the protection really worth it.

Sure do!
I use one on my milestone, I've dropped it a few times, and although the case itself has cracked etc, the phone doesn't have a scratch on it.
my top ring broke in the first day, replaced it with one from a cheap ebay case, and its been going strong since then.
Also cracked the plastic of the main case, but it was a doddle to fix with some aryldite (I think that's how its spelt), as there is an outer case and an inner soft silicone case. It doesnt look pretty but works well.
I'll post some pics if anyones interested.

do you think i wil be able to ahev my extended bettery on with the case?
I've got this case on my phone right now and can give my 2 cents on it....
It's a beautiful case. Offers great protection against drops but definitely adds bulk. It also increases temperatures a bit on the high end of the scale. ie: if your phone is at 38 degrees with no case, it will be at 40 degrees with this case. but at the lower end, say 30 degrees, you won't notice a difference between case vs no case.
the plastic ring surrounding the screen broke 6 days into my owning the case! I was REALLY disappointed. But then my seidio innocase had the same thing happen.
After a few weeks, the case began to warp in one corner a bit. The heat from the battery getting too hot seemingly is deforming the case!! It's not major, but it is definitely there.

NO, you won't. If you want a good case for an extended battery get the Seidio innocase specifically meant for extended battery.
Overall I'm actually happy with the case despite the problems I mentioned. I feel that if I should drop it, even without that plastic ring surrounding the screen, the phone will survive.
But would I buy it again? No
I was happier with my seidio. Unfortunately I did drop the phone, and the case did break...but the phone was absolutely fine.
http://www.seidioonline.com/category-s/3898.htm
I just installed an otterbox DEFENDER series case on my fiance's ipod touch, and THAT is a phenomenal case. Totally different species than what they offer for our droids/milestones. Too bad they can't make one for us
I have had the seidio innocase on my milestone for a year now and I love it. Dropped my phone a couple of times, but no problem. Still going strong.

I've had mine since September and it's great, no issues.

i used to use a tpu case for mine but it kept triggering the bug report thing by pressing both volume keys and the power button whenever i woke up the phone. i stopped using it and realized i dont really need a case for it. ive dropped it a couple times and surprisingly nothing happened. the back does get scratched but im willing to live with that.
I have a case mate as wel and happy with it!
I use mercury hard gel case. I like the fact that it doesn't cover the buttons and still provides good drop and scratch protection

I've used CaseMate POP case but i think it's a bad case. I don't like POP case. Now i'm using a Momax iCase & it's a great case.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA
I have been using the Case-Mate POP case for about 6 months. It has been great protection and even some added girth for my rather large hands. I have one or two cracks, but that is from me constantly taking the phone in and out of the case to un-brick or flash or something else that would require a battery pull. The other aesthetic note is the rubber around the edge (keeps the phone in the case as well as provides a bit of grip when placed on a table face down) is a bit worn. It doesn't look terrible but its there.
Overall the case is amazing, and people who say its bad had a bad experience with it and/or broke it themselves. Afterall, these are phones and not military grade Samsung Ruby Smarts here!!!
If you want a 100% shatterproof case, wait for the Otterbox case (that was announced last year). This is a great case and has both protection (plastic) and grip (rubber) and adds a bit to the phone w/o losing its sexiness.
I got my wife to be one in pink and she loves it. She has had it about the same amount of time and the only wear hers has is some scratches from her purse (she isn't into flashing roms).
I have a case-mate pop. It's a very sturdy case. The only thing that I think people might have a problem with is that it adds a little bit of 'bulk' to the phone.
I've been using the below Case-Mate Pop for almost a year now. It basically goes everywhere in a outside coat/jacket pocket or cargo pants pocket. Been in the sun, rain, cold and snow of TGWN and keeps on ticking The SNS itself still looks new.
The case is a good firm construction that feels good in your hand and handles a drop from chest height no problem. Only downside is with the tight fit of the case in the beginning. Once broken in, say about 8 mths down the road, the power button area stretches and the corners start to show some wear. This wear and tear so to speak is mostly from taking the case off. These areas get under turned when one puts the case on so you have to flip them up once the case is seated to get the fit
Overall it's a great case for the active outdoor person who doesn't want to worry about destroying their SNS phone/computer investment. Cost $25 CDN
I highly recommend the Seidio Active X Case. I am very protective of my phone too and I feel very safe having this case.
It's very similar to the Otterbox Commuter Case series for several phones. The case doesn't cause much more bulkiness and has a very nice feel imo (to some it may be a little slick). The case covers both the volume and power button but leaves the headphone jack and usb port open for ease.
You can check out reviews on youtube.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Goo...ccessories&hash=item4160a4db1b#ht_2866wt_1163 the best protection ive seen alltho i use platinum case the best one,i bought it on best buy 50$ but its worth it.

Best Buy Branded Platinum

So I picked a platinum case which seems like a re-branded Seidio, so it's not a bad case at all.
I have a concern and I did do some googling on Cell Phones and Flash Memory with magnetic fields. I've always been a firm believer you don't mix magnets and electronics. Everything I've read says it won't hurt anything with the flash memory nor the phone itself. My personal experience says otherwise. I had a magnetic pouch for once my for Samsung A990 and it caused weird screen discoloration when removed from the case. I also have had experience with another device and magnets. Two difference cases I bought for my Acer A100 which ended causing issues as well.
So really is it a good idea to keep a case with a magnet powerful enough to snap to my fridge around my phone?
Plenty of folks around here have been using a Platinum series or Surface since the day they came out without any ill effects. I've got a Platinum series case and I use it frequently, but I'll admit to using a TPU or folio-style case more often than not at home purely because I am very, very mildly concerned about the magnet. That said, it hasn't caused any distortion on my screen or anything like that.
Not an issue. Make sure to turn off under s-pen setting pwr management pen detection (when s-spen is in a holder or not) to avoid any issues with magnet interference.
Btw, I just got Seidio CONVERT which is Surface/Platinum with an extra protection shell on top of it. Just tested it out, took a ton of pictures, and will post a detailed review in a day or so. VERY IMPRESSIVE case. Defender was rushed in with lots of design faults. This one is a design perfection! And actually already sold out at Amazon where you can get it for $55 (which is actually 2 cases in a package, Surface and Convert kit on top of it). But anyway, expect a detailed review!!!
It really depends on the type of magnet and its strength if it will hurt electronics or not. I can't remember which ones are safe to use off the top of my head but a quick google search should turn up the answer. I know they are more expensive than a regular magnet so most (all?)cheap cases don't use them, but mid - highend cases *should* use them. I think it's a special kind of low strength neodymium magnet that doesn't effect electronics, but I'm not 100% positive on that. The magnet should be just powerful enough to hold the weight of the closure shut against gravity, but not strong enough to hold the closure shut against the weight of the device + gravity. So definitely no refrigerator magnets unless they are only designed to hold a sheet of paper and anything heavier will drag it down to the floor.
I like to break stuff!
Thanks! After my post I did a little more digging and found that some people seem to believe there is a dead spot with the spen even with the Seidio. I did my own experiment and noticed that the magnet is strong enough to hold a precision screw driver against it while I jiggled it. The screen responded to the magnet when held right up against it. I realize that I am not going to be holding it next to the screen daily or holding screw drivers. I ended up mixing the cheap Verizon cover with the holster and it seems to work well enough. I only planned on using the holster when I wear jeans anyway. plenty of room in dress pants.

I have a leather holster with 2 magnets that hold ot closed but the part where the phone is is shielded from the magnets by a sheet of aluminum sewn inbetween the leather panels. They also sewed one in the back panel as well to hold the shape of the holster as the leather is really soft. It makes a damn good holster, look and feel of soft leather and strength and protection of an aluminum box. And the aluminum doest affect signal as it actually has an antenna booster built into the aluminum plates. I actually get better signal near the holster. Although I can't remember where it came from since my dad originally bought it for the og note then ended up ordering a handmade one for like 200 $ and gave me this one. It has a sort of woven or carbon fiber texture to the leather. I'll get some pics of it later. The one issue it had was the belt clip wasnt riveted in so it came unstitched after a while of pulling it on and off, but I actually prefer using the belt loops on it now as it doesn't stick out as far anymore. Under a tshirt you can't even tell its there.
I like to break stuff!
Ive been using the best buy case since I got my note. I dont notice any spen interference. But I also only use the spen every so often.

Are cases really necessary for the Note 2? Share your experience

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.
For the love of god get a case. I have a cover for that it a back plate with a leather flap that goes over the screen, and a screen protector. My wife has a full case for hers.
I dropped my. Screen smashed. She drops hers a few times not one scratch.

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

It's a nice real world example.

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com

If I had to choose between those two I would choose the Spigen, but i personally use a cheap $3 tpu from amazon and it works great from impacts and is minimal....cruzerlite makes nice ones too....hope this helps
Definitely stay away from the otter box case. The space between the screen and the protector drove me insane - I could feel it and hear it every time I touched the screen. Took it back and went with a cheap but protective tpu case
The ballistic looks to be better for drops, but I say a tpu with a decent lip is good enough for regular drops as seen here. A diztronic case is what I'd go for. Putting on a screen protector might help a little if there's rocks where it lands..
Get a Ballistic Aspira. It's thin everywhere but the corners, and they protect it pretty well.

Slim armor has solid feel and could take a pretty good drop, not much lip to protect glass screen though, i had the ballistic case on my nexus 4, very bulky but very protective, major lips for extra protection as well, only issue i had was sometimes accessing my notification bar and PIE controls due to the lip being in the way... very nice case though
