Possible to root Z3 compact running latest marshmallow ? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen a few guides but they want me to downgrade firmware (the guides were from 2014) so wondered if there were any easier ways.
Does it matter if i dont back up DRM keys ?

You need to downgrade to root.
You only need to backup DRM keys if you are planning on unlocking the boot, if you are only going to root there is no need to back them up

start the expanded windows startup menu and choose: disable driver signature under start options... you could just have googled that btw, there are many threads about that topic. but anyways... ^^

Xperia T not rooting?

Hello forums!
Well, this my be a noob-like question, or not, I have no idea. So, here it goes...
My Sony Xperia T does not want to be rooted no matter what method I use. Bootlocker unlock is not allowed, but I have seen many root when they have this too, so it's not that causing the problem.
I used DoomLord's rooting toolkit first of all, to be told by the application that my phone LT30p is not accepted, even though the root includes that phone...
I then used Bin4ry's root with restore, and once again, that didn't work. I was taken to the service menu and had to click on Display, but that didn't work. The rooting toolkit just didn't do anything, just sat there...
Then I tried SRS Root, and that didn't work either.
I have PC companion, and I have USB Debugging and Unknown sources all enabled AND I have the ADB drivers... what is the problem!
This has been bugging me for a long time, I could do with some help!
Thanks in advance,
Joe.
Install ADB Driver first -_-

Thanks man, let me go test this on my laptop!
Okay, new problem. On my laptop, I have installed PC Companion, the device drivers have installed but now, when I try to add adb drivers it will not let me, and when I use the ADB Installer, it is not recognizing my device.

Try disable any antivirus or similar program like that
Don't use non specific ADB driver
I guess, installing PCC it's enough
Btw, I never use any Sony software now
The best ADB driver you can find, by using ADB driver from flashtool
XD
Okay well, I got the drivers working (thanks to you) but...
dom...dom. doooooooooooom!
Still not working. For example, when using Bin4ry's root, I get to the part where you have to sit on service tests>display and nothing happens, and after about 10 minutes, it simply says root failed in console, but device does restart, but is not rooted.

Don't use Binary method
Using Doomlord easy root
What the Build number your current OS ?
Yeah I have tried that, even though it clearly says that the Xperia T can be used with it:
Hi, I recently got a Xperia T and couldn't get it to root.
After messing around I finally got it to Root. What I had to do was use Bin4ry's root method first choosing option 2.
Once that was done, I then had to use Doomlord's easy root. After that was done I ran SU which deleted the version from Bin4ry's root and success, my phone was rooted.
I don't know why I have to use Bin4ry's method and the Dommlord's but I do know the only way to get my phone to root is by doing both root methods starting with Bin4ry's first.
I know for a fact this is the case because I re-flashed my phone to stock, trying different methods, in different orders. The only way to get it to root was to do Bin4ry's and then Doomlord's one after the other.
Tried it, it didn't work for me Thanks anyway dude.

you must downgrade to JB firmware that can be rooted using Binary or Doomlord method
After that, root, install CWM for locked bootloader
Then, follow instruction from the OP ( link above )
Just Google if you need more information
Yes but how can I downgrade? What do I need to do? I have looked for tutorials, I can't seem to find any.

preparing to root device

good day
i have been reading through the forums and various links
i have already tried to root my Sony Xperia Z1 with vroot and 360root, but just before i did that i connected my phone to my pc and it updated to 14.1.G.2.257 so now i have to use flashtool and downgrade to .534
so both vroot and 360root failed so i not sure if they got my IMEI number or not
anyways my current phone is branded with vodacom and along with all the vodacom bloadware, the main reason i want to root my phone is becuse i hateeeee being forced to have apps that i dont use and that i can not uninstall
phone info
device model - C69033
software version - 14.G.2.257
software ID - 1276-1257 R13A
baseband verision - 8974-AAAAANAZQ-10270011-22
i have also read that i may loose the bravia engine
so if i read right the steps that i should follow are;
1. downgrade to 14.1.G.1.534 Commercial/Journalist 1277-1398 with flashtool (as this as per what ive read in the forums already has a OTA update)
2. use this method to root the device Root MANY ANDROID! [Upd: 20.11.2013] - Added Z1 Root
3. Back up TA with [TOOL] Backup TA v9.8 for Windows [20130928]
4. to get rid of the vodacom startup screen i should run bootloader?
5. to get rid of apps that i dont want i use flashtool ?
thanks for the asistance

Not sure what you are saying exactly, your phone didn't root that you are doing it again? make sure you have the phone in developer mode, if not under settings keep clicking about phone until it comes up and says you are now a developer or similar. Make sure you have USB debugging ticked, and then try vroot, worked well for me.
First launch of Titanium backup should ask for root permissions.
ok i got 14.1.G.1.534 Commercial/Journalist 1277-1398 rooted on my phone now
but now i cant update ota to the next version and if i do it via pc i loose the root
but my biggest problem is that now i can not restore my contacts back onto my phone :crying:
got good news i flashed my phone again this time with the C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Central Europe1276-4314_R2A ftf and then rooted with "Root MANY ANDROID!" and then confirmed root and also then was able to OTA to 14.G.2.257 yayyyyy and kept root awsome stuff
also i got my contacts back as i had a .257 backup that i could use to restore them yayyyyyyy

[Q] I'm at my wits end - can't upgrade, can't root

I bought a Sony Xperia Z1 (C6903) on eBay, and it came installed with Kitkat.
I decided I wanted to root the device and install a custom ROM before I used it much, so I followed a guide on XDA and flashed it with the 14.1.G.1.534 build using Flashtool. (I had to install several drivers to get Flashtool to work.)
After that, I attempted to root it using Vroot, but the program didn't work (the error message was in Chinese, and when I clicked the supplied link, it was something about enabling USB debugging, which I had already done.) I then tried Kingo Android ROOT, which tried to download drivers for the phone, but always failed, so I downloaded and installed them manually as suggested. Kingo Android ROOT then did the same thing as Vroot, and told me to enable USB debugging, even though it was already enabled.
I tried reflashing it using Flashtool and trying again, but same issue.
I finally got fed up and tried to just upgrade to Kitkat again using the Software Updates feature in Phone info, but now the phone fails every time I try to update! It starts, enters the Android update screen, and then reboots a few seconds in. When the phone loads again, it says the update failed and asks me to redownload the file. I tried this several times, including leaving the phone off for a while before upgrading, and making sure it was at full charge AND on AC power, but still nothing.
So, to sum up, I can't root my phone, I can't upgrade my phone and I'm stuck on an outdated version of stock Android. I'm really frustrated with this and am hoping someone can help me.

I'm beginning to think this is a driver issue, because I installed several drivers in an attempt to get Flashtool to work, but I don't know how to fix this. I used USBDeview to remove several drivers from my computer. After doing this, I plugged in my Xperia Z1 and it installed "C6903" on my computer, but it also prompted me to install software on the phone screen, but each time I click Install, it doesn't do anything...
I'm about ready to just chuck this phone out the window.
Windows doesn't even pick it up properly anymore, MTP doesn't install, I don't know how to fix this.
Does anyone know how to manually uninstall all of the drivers that Flashtool installs?

Don't know how to uninstall the drivers (maybe in device manager?) but make sure you installed the correct ones from the flashtool drivers folder. The first time you plugged your phone in with usb debugging on, did the phone show anything about rsa keys?

Not to my knowledge, no. :/
I suggest you need those drivers.
Firstly you need to read more. Vroot is NOT a trusted way to root your phone. It send your IMEI address to an ip address in chice for no known reason.
Secondly, there is no need to root on .534 FW, that's the point of downgrading to it. Just install the dual recovery whilst on that FW and then flash SuperSU.zip from chainfires website.
Then just flash a 4.4 rom of your choice.

Well i'm sure if the drivers ain't installed correctly you wouldn't be able to flash anyways so i don't think its a driver problem. try flashing .534 again and turn on usb debugging and plug your phone in with the screen on and see if there's any pop up
Edit: Just saw gregs reply, totally forgot this method but yes try installing nuts dualrecovery

Wow, after all of the various options I tried, the Dual Recovery worked, even when nothing else on my system was recognizing the phone. Thank you so much. I managed to install Superuser too, but how do I flash a ROM at this point? By starting the dual recovery again?
Forgive my lack of knowledge of this, the only thing I've ever rooted was a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, and that process seemed a lot simpler than this. :/ At least, before your method.

Press up button while booting (Sony logo) to get into TWRP to flash roms. ROM threads always have guides on how to flash their roms so just check there for any flashing guide.

I'd like to know this myself.
I have a feeling a flash to an earlier version is needed. I've tried several outdated roots with no joy.
OP you will probably get ignored or told to read a 100 page thread.
Use Easy root for xperia
google it
I know, right! Well, don't download the EasyRoot because afterwards it asks for a key and the website to get it from doesn't even function (unstableapps.com).
i think we may just have to go back to iPhone, or wait for a truly customizable new platform, where you can change battery icons and fully control your device. there doesn't seem a way to utilize our phones any longer.

Newroot newroot newroot!
Guys just go to this thread and download this tool by munjeni. Easiest root unroot you can find. No need to go back to an older firmware n all. Just hit root/unroot and you are all set. Make sure you install proper phone drivers though. PC companion should show that c6902 connected. I had a slight issue while rooting since the phone was not getting detected. Simply reinstall PC companion and you are good to go.

Help root Z3C 5.1.1 or Wifi problem

Hello
ls there any method to root 5.1.1 firmware?. All I want is to have root access because one day my phone cant turn on Wifi and Bluetooth. I tried factory reset, no use. I have just upgraded my Z3C D5803 to 23.4.A.1.264 using flashtool, but wifi still doesnt work.
After tried many way, I found a resolution (haven't tried yet):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/wifi-stuck-t2721643/page12
I need to get into root explorer and do something about it, but after factory reset and firmware updating, I have to root my phone again.
I already tried to downgrade as in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
but the problem is my phone got into bootloop after flash 23.0.A.2.93. None of the firmware prior to 23.0.1.A.5.77 work. It all get into bootloop.
I have been spending days looking for a resolution and now I am desperated with the thought that I can do nothing to fix it. Please help.
There is kingroot if you want to risk it.
But to be honest if repairing the software and/or flashing multiple different roms etc has not fixed this then assuming you have been doing things correctly it seems far more likely to be a hardware problem.

All the details on your phone, including the IMEI number get sent to an unknown server in China.
I would start again at the beginning and follow this guide
You will have to downgrade your phone, but if you use the right files, it is simple.
Once you have root on an older build you can flash any stock rom, I recommend SLIM
