Got myself in a bit of a mess
Had a S-OFF device with bootloader unlocked (using revone).
Was going to sell on, so put back to S-ON, but this was done before I relocked the bootloader (so bootloader stayed at Unlocked). I've now relocked the bootloader using fastboot oem lock.
However wifi is not working (stuck on turning on), as I appear to have ended up with the wrong kernel.
However, trying to unlock (through htc dev), got by unlock_code.bin, I am running the following command;
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
which responds with;
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)... OKAY [ 0.142s]
writing 'unlocktoken'... INFOunlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.004s]
finished. total time: 0.146s
But it is not popping up with anything on the phone, and the bootloader stays at relocked.
Am I stuck, at the bootloader was originally unlocked using revone and now is at status relocked ?
Thanks.

Hi, what boot r u? If you are 1.44 use revone again. The only other thing I can think of is to call fonefunshop to see if they could s-off the device again for you.
I am on HBOOT 1.54 unfortunately.
I don't really want s-off, just the unlocked bootloader.

Just to cover all bases - after it said complete did you reboot the bootloader using 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'?
I had not, I was expecting the phone screen to display the options to unlock ?
Anyway, I tried that, which gives the following;
fastboot reboot-bootloader
rebooting into bootloader... FAILED (remote: loading custom splash failed)
finished. total time: 0.016s
Any ideas? I need to unlock the bootloader as my WiFi is broken. Cannot turn on, I think the reason is that I've ended up with a kernel for a 401.1 Rom but I'm on a 401.8 Rom.
Hi,
if you cid allows try an ruu. If no go then send off to fonefunshop to get s-off. Its got to be worth it to get the phone working again. From personal experience I can say they are fast. Give them a call first to discuss.
It sounds like you possibly went S-on with a custom Hboot. Perhaps the one that removes the red text?

Thanks for the input.
1. I used one of the roms from this thread to return to stock : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471869
2. Comparing the HTC one with the broken wifi to another htc one on 4.2.2, the old difference I can see is in the kernel versions;
- Broken HTC: 3.4.10-g445d072
- Working HTC: 3.4.10-g28df0d6
I don't really want to spend £30 on s-off, if I could unlock the bootloader, I should be able to flash a rom to get wifi working, I think ?
Thanks.

Anyone with any ideas ? Is there anything I can do without a RUU and a relocked bootloader to change the kernel to the correct version for the rom ? Thanks!
One thing I've noticed is the the first screen I see when the phone is turned on is a Google logo rather than the HTC logo. Obviously I've got some remnants of a Google Edition Rom left on my phone.
Am I completely lost without s-off ?

Have you fixed this? I have the same problem. Thanks
FIXED!!
I had this exact problem. Android 4.3 is now available via control panel, software updates. I downloaded via mobile data and installed the update and the phone now works fine, including wifi. Hopefully you have a good mobile data plan because the download is >600MB
Hello, everyone.
So, about an week ago, I posted a thread to ask for your help regarding my broken N6. Since then, nothing has changed(but got worse, I guess...?). Here is what is happening with my N6 right now.
1) It powers up(thank god) but goes straight to the boot-loader screen(I believe this means that my device doesn't have system image file within the device)
2) On boot-loader menu(Start, Restart bootloader, Recovery mode, Power off, Factory, Barcodes, BP Tools, QCOM, Bootlaoder logs), only few are working(Restart bootlodaer, Power off, Barcodes). When I try to perform other than these, it just goes back to main boot-loader screen.
3) I tried to use both Nexus Root Tool kit and manual installation of each image but doesn't work for both of them(From this, I believe that my phone is just BROKEN)
With this happening, conclusion that I can think of is
1) There is no 'Recovery' available in my device(that's why I can't do anything to recover my device)
2) ADB is not functioning.
Only solution that I can think of from this point is that contact Motorola and replace my device(which is what I am currently doing but Motorola has huge problem with their customer service that I am waiting for their answer for about 2 weeks now)
If possible, would there other options that I can repair this device by myself?
I appreciate your attention.
Sincerely.
Adb has no impact on bootloader. What do you mean doesn't work when you fastboot the factory image?

your problem is the use of toolkits. stay away from them, unless you know what you are doing!
your phone doesnt have any rom on it. you can.. 1. flash the factory img via fastboot, like you are supposed to do(not via a toolkit), or 2. unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery then while in the custom recovery adb push a rom, gapps, and supersu and flash them that way. what you did does not give you the right for a trade in.
The two previous posters are correct. You just need to fastboot flash the factory rom and factory recovery. It is fairly simple, if you take the time to read how to do it. There are posts all over XDA for beginners on how to do this. And I cannot stress how correct @simms22 is. Toolkits may seem to make things easy, but when there is a problem, you need to know how to manually fix it. I just personally stay away from toolkits. And I was in your shoes. I didn't know jack about flashing roms and such. Just reading XDA got me to where I am. (and i am still learning!)
Like the others have pointed out, you are fine. You have access to your bootloader screen, this is a Nexus. Take a deep breath. Take some time and read this site about flashing a factory image. Please do it the best way - manually with fastboot commands. If you get stuck come back here and someone will help. It really is easy. Please repeat after me "I will avoid all toolkits from now one".
Start with this and read lots.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Flashing the factory image should still work from boot loader with fast boot.
Follow the second link for manual flashing after downloading the zip from the first link.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
If you run into the missing system.img problem here is the link to fix it:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/12/running-into-the-dreaded-missing-system-img-error-flashing-android-5-0-factory-images-heres-how-to-get-around-it/
This way you can start from the beginning.
Problem with flashing factory image manually.
First, thanks everyone for helping me by providing useful information but there is a problem when I flash factory image manually.
Whenever I try to flash image(for example, 'boot.img', or other images, I always get the same error 'FAILED <remote failure>' and not installed on my device. From here, I have no idea what to do.

i have no idea, but this is a good thread to read and post questions about fastboot in http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/noob-read-adb-fastboot-how-help-t3006500
RIP. What did you do to your N6?
OP how did you install your fastboot. I would assume you did it from within a toolkit. That is probably your problem. If that is the case, please do this. Go here and install the .exe: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#Other
It's big I know it but just do it please.
Make sure everything (SDK) gets installed in a folder path like c:\android or something you will easily remember. This is very important because it is within this folder you will place the extracted factory image files (.img). Place all full unzipped .img files in this folder.
Please follow method #2 in this excellent guide:

One day it just shut down by itself and since then it's like this. I just contact Motorola and they are going to ship me new device with different color(idk y they are still having problem with their stocking their devices in because what I had was Cloud White 32Gb but only model that were present when I contact them was Midnight blue with 32Gb, other options are all out of stock. really wished they had a white color...)
This phone is a damn Nexus, it can't die. It's user error.

Hi!
I'm trying to install TWRP on my P10. I've unlocked bootloader on Huawei website.
Whenever I'm typing in fastboot "flash recovery twrp.img" it goes through and everything says OK
But when i try to "fastboot boot twrp.img" I get FAILED (remote: command not allowed)
"fastboot oem device-info" gives me the same error too and "fastboot oem unlock" gives me already fastboot unlocked
What do you thing "fastboot boot twrp.img" should do? This command isn't allowed because it does not exist.
If you want to boot into your flashed TWRP recovery, you have to enter "fastboot reboot" and press volume up while booting - the USB cable has to be disconnected.
Instead of "fastboot oem device-info" try "fastboot Gevtvar unlocked".
or use adb when the phone is running.
"adb reboot recovery"
you can't go direct from fastboot to recovery simply by a command
Yeah, the command was wrong, sorry xD
Anyway I thinks it's fixed now and I'm able to boot manually to recovery from phone now!
jejeje i was coming here to tell you about wrong command
I have the same problem with FAILED (remote: command not allowed). When I try to install or flash anything I see the info about FAILED (remote: command not allowed). I have FRP locked and I can't enable OEM developing option (it is inactive). I can't relock bootloader, can't instal TWRP, I have only simply erocevery where I can't wipe - only reboot and shutdown device.
I tried do update via dload, hwota - all with defeat
In ADB and Fastboot I can see my device connected.
Does anyone have any idea?
do you have instaled driver for P10, does computer recognice device like P10 ?

Any news? My p10+ it's in the same case
same problem im already unlock but the twr not install what is propper command
Hey guys, for all of you with "command not allowed" problem, you have to check OEM unlock setting on developer options but if you have a greyed out button, you need to flash again your stock room with a tool like dc-phoenix unlocker and bypass frp lock (on YouTube you will find tons of videos regarding this matter). Also, you can check if your Fastboot is protected (frp locked) on Fastboot screen...
There you go---> https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ution-bl-unlockedfrp-locked-fastboot-t3684302
PS READ the post to the END!! don't make mistakes it's really easy and fast. It works!
Hi guys.
I know this thread is pretty old but I'm getting the exact same problem as the OP except on my P20 Pro: I can flash a recovery but not boot one from fastboot.
The biggest difference is that my bootloader is unlocked and I have FRP Unlock, so according to every post I've seen it SHOULD be working.
My fastboot log:
PS C:\adb> fastboot devices
LCL0218415002142 fastboot
PS C:\adb> fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-charlotte.img
downloading 'boot.img'...

Have you try this command fasboot reboot recovery_ramdisk?
I get:
PS C:\adb> fastboot reboot recovery_ramdisk

with "fastboot boot recovery_ramdisk" I get
error: cannot load 'recovery_ramdisk': No such file or directory
I sorted out my problem from a different angle so I no longer need to boot to TWRP from fastboot. Thanks for your help!

This was quite some time back so I don't remember all that well, but I think I just used the built in Huawei recovery, erecovery, to restore my whole phone and then I was able to reinstall my custom recovery and boot to it normally. I can't guarantee this as I don't remember the whole context of this. Using erecovery I didn't lose my locally stored files, only my apps and app data. Hope this helps.
what I have done is this:
Rooted phone
Installed TWRP
than I updated (stupid)
Lost root than I wanted to install Custom frimware what didnt work
Factory resetted phone, phone doesnt boot anymore now.
I can only access fastboot but I can not get fastboot to work on pc installed many different drivers just dont work.

Every two or three days people report here they bricked phones by forcing update or Factory reset (or relocking Bootloader) from custom or rooted phones (or by having TWRP) - one must first go back to the original stock firmware he had, before upgrading/resetting/relocking...
And this thread will also not help to somebody else -
since 'somebody' will not read (before bricking the phone) ;(

Do you still have TWRP - use HWOTA to flash stock
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787156&postcount=3
If you have no TWRP but Fastboot is showing Bootloader unlocked, you should be able to flash TWRP.
If Fastboot is showing Bootloader locked but FRP unlocked, you should be able to unlock Bootloader.
But if there is no more TWRP and Fastboot is showing FRP and Bootloader locked - maybe DC Phoenix can help you

Yeah, this is not adb/fastboot drivers problem but a fact that you either did not keep OEM Unlocking or it locked due to your procedures. But you have no system to boot in and to unlock.
Is TWRP still on? Press and keep pressing Power until phone shuts down (from Fastboot).
Try to boot to recovery by keeping pressed Vol + and Power -- if it boots to TWRP proceed by HWOTA as above.
If it boots to eRecovery instead, maybe you can try Factory reset (although, I don't believe it will work)
If you don't have recovery anymore (and you have no system and FRP is locked) then you really bricked the phone, you should pay for DC Phoenix and try to unbrick

Which (full name) build it shows in About?
Can you enable Developer options - then why cannot you enable USB debugging?!
You must first enable Allow ADB debugging in charge... and only then USB debugging -otherwise USB debugging switches off

Cannot get into any Recovery I can boot to OS
Hello guys.
So, I recently bought a new phone and thought "let's try rooting my old one" and tried it on my G7+. I ended up not liking out it turned out (Netflix DRM, Vanced didn't work properly, etc).
So I reflashed the stock ROM and put the comand fastboot oem lock.
The thing is, after I boot the device again, all the messages still appear, like Your device has loaded a different operating system" and below that "ID: " (blank) and I also get "Verity mode is set to disable".
The thing is, every tutorial I come across to relock the bootloader(regular G7, G7 Power, G6, etc), says that when you enter the command "fastboot oem lock" two times, the message that you should only flash signed images, does not appear. I instantly get the state flashing_locked, and I can't continue flashing the stock firmware like every other tutorial shows.
In short, once you enter the command "fastboot oem lock", it's locked for good, and you can't do anything unless you unlock it again, starting the whole process again.
The problem is, even with the bootloader locked again, my device still shows as "insecure", Netflix is nowhere to be found on the app store, and the state of my device is not certified.
I wouldn't have unlocked If I knew it was going to be this difficult to get it back. Selling it now would be next to impossible.
Here are some examples of the errors I'm getting:

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Did you ever get this sorted ? I have the same problem on my G7 Plus. I unlocked, then loaded Lineagos, but then decided to go back to stock, I used LMSA to rescue the phone, but still got the warning and boot time "Your phone has loaded a different OS" and I can't use GPay. I tried the fastboot OEM lock (worked) and fastboot flashing lock, but I still get the warning and I can't use GPay.
I think in my case the LMSA rescue didn't work because I was originally on Android 9 and the rescue took me straing to Android 10
