Since I'm still on the 1.31.405 rom its still easy to root for me, but I would like to keep the stock rom (I really need a stable ROM and fm radio) is there anyone who can give me the stock 2.05 rom with root?

Did you root this yourself or just got it from google?
Cause I really don't want to screw up my phone by flashing a faulty rom that someone just randomly posted on the internet.
Or isn't it possible to brick a phone just by flashing a faulty rom?
No, I havent rooted it. I got it from this forum. If you search you may find the actual thread. Maybe Blayo......cant be sure. I havent flashed it yet.

seriously? I've tried searching before posting, quite a lot actually never found a threat, neither do I now :s
But if it's from xda it'll be safe I guess
search for arzme in members list and then all posts by him and you may find the thread and confirm its validity yourself.
i have downgraded my legend because i wanted to root.
But i think that i dont want it anymore.Can i just start this and then i have 2.05 again.
for this i dont need root right? because i only have downgraded.
I've just tried it, when I booted it for the first time it said something in chinees or tawanese I don't know. It also doesn't have dutch
Anyone who knows a rooted 2.05 rom which has dutch?

Sorry, noob here. I googled how to root my Captivate. I found the wiki, which points to the thread in the dev forum here. However, the download link gives 404 and the thread is closed. Help!
Also, would appreciate pointers to info on:
- the best way to back up my phone before installing SRE,
- how to tell which firmware I have.

The thread was closed by OP request. Keep an eye out for his new thread and updated rom. as far as the info goes I would read the stickies in the Development forum. I can answer the firmware info. Go into settings...about phone and it will tell you at the bottom.

Best way to backup is titanium backup- pay the $4 donation to obtain a license! You can perform a "batch" (one button) backup/re-installation with the full version.
I try to keep my phone pretty basic as I'm tinkering with it.. makes it so much quicker to get back up and running!
I still have and am currently using the 1.3.1c update if you'd like me to send it to you

Thanks for the info everyone. I have had my Captivate for two months now and decided it is time to root it. SRE looks like it has most of what I want to do with it bundled in. Bad timing I guess, but I can wait a few more days.

there are a ton of guinea pigs....a lot of us have been running it since friday....
its working great...and it now has HSUPA in it...
*#1234# from the phone will show you the firmware versions.
I updated the Wiki to reflect all this info as well.
If you still have this version i would love a copy. Tried Cognition and had bugs - 1.2.2 was perfect and from what i understand 1.3.1 was very good too.
I have 1.3.1c on my harddrive (along with 8GB of Android related stuff), if you really want it.
If you still have SRE 1.3.1 on your HD I would love to have it. I still have use of Eclair and this rooter sounds the best.

wow! this is an old thread. if you are gonna root and mod the phone why not upgrade to 2.2? i understand wanting to stay stock but why 2.1 stock with an antiquated mod that is not likely available because noone has requested it in 6 months or more. there are kernels with color fix and voodoo sound and roms galore? if you want a good stock style rom i would root and backup the apps and install andromeda. it still has a few samsung apps and a stock look but has all the features you could want.

Yeah, I hear ya. I wish I could be in a 2.2 ROM. I've gone through most of the popular ones, Darkys, Cognition, Serendipity, Dragon, Paragon, Andromedia.... My issue is that all 2.2 ROMs seem to cause tons of FCs and after a lot of troubleshooting and debugging have come to the conclusion that its due to something in the RAM that is being triggered by 2.2. That there is some sort of memory leak (which I figured I would have read about by know) or faulty hardware.
I originally thought it was the VooDoo lag-fix, but removed that and still have the FCs. I am fighting with AT&T/Samsung to get a replacement but since I got the Cappy the first week it was offered by AT&T (and therefore had months and months of usage before being able to get 2.2 on it, and the related FCs) there is an issue of warranty. I am pretty much refusing to pay any fees.
Soooo, until this is ironed out I still want my phone to partially make me happy so I was using UTC 0.2 and was wondering how SRE would work.

You obviously haven't searched hard enough, there are a number of great stable roms now, as well as guides and tutorials on how to flash...search and look again

That's true, there's some custom rom available for your phone model include BenzRom of course. Just go to development section, you'll found them.

Be careful, your phone model is I8190N. Check again if the custom rom is for your phone model.

I tested it and it is great, it is for your phone which you can even see in the quote you posted.

Not only N920K, but hope someone can make a custom rom with working calling audio for N920S also. Both models is korean variant and both suffer with the calling audio (no sound at all) during calling.

You know what is problem? I can provide a ROM but not possible to update frequently. Once there is no regular update then some user push badly and never understand developer and keep spoiling thread..

We just need major updade, not frequently and quick update like international.
If you are only option to have custom Rom, I'm pretty sure they will not complaint, just praise you and your hard work.
N920K, N920S and N920L can share same rom, just different modem, bootloader which dev will not touch on any Note 5 variant
Devs shouldn't have to bother with different modem, bootloader, we the user can easily find that ourselves plus a dev has enough on their plate when creating a custom ROM.
There are a couple of Note5 ROMs available for which you're searching here on XDA.
The problem is some people don't bother reading and/or researching for their smartphone.

I will provide only one kernel on which ROM is based on. Users either use that one OR select custom kernel.

Atleast I tried to flash 3 Roms included Dr's N920C/I/G on my N5. I found that they have only incall sound problem, all other I saw work fine.

Let me download it first. If I could find audio fix then it will be better as you may get updated with international ROM
I will check and send you fix if possible. Meanwhile do flash my ROM L4 and make nandroid so anytime you can test fix.

I made my nandroid backup/EFS once I rooted and made some optimize/tweak on stock one. I'm willing to test any fix, any Rom you send/pm me.

Good news for N920K/L/S users. I have made call audio fix and reporting working fine. Still needs few test to perform. Stay tuned.

Have you found a good rom yet if not i can only give you the name of the rom cos i didnt cook the rom myself try google sm-n920k genius rom ok, it should be in samsungviet or something like that i send you the call audio fix tomorrow ok im not next to my comp atm sr

I just inherited it from someone else, it is not my main phone, so it will not be hugely catastrophic if I ever brick it.
What do you think you can do with it ?

sorry, but this ROM didn't make it
and I have DISCONTINUED it
because I got a LOT of errors and couldn't make it work properly
