When I go into "Pro" mode in the camera nothing wants to focus. In the other modes it is just fine.
Am I missing something?

You have to manually focus. Click on "Manual" (on the right side) with an icon of a flower and mountain.

Everything seems to work except the exposure settings. It is only enabled in video camera mode. Anyone have this?
Get 3 more posts here and say this in the serendipity thread in the Development forum. Or maybe youll get lucky and have mikey see this, he reads here sometimes.
yup just the more posts haha

I just tested mine in a dark room with the computer screen, and it lightens to pick up the room light and darkens to capture the computer screen - all this with serendipity 5.7 (or else I wouldn't be posting).
So it isn't the ROM, for me. I haven't done anything with the camera except flash the video camera fix app - that was just supposed to fix the auto focus on video. It works now. Maybe it worked before too.

Tell me if you can select the exposure icon (+/-) below the timer on the left in camera mode because I can't select it.

I'm having the same thing hadn't noticed though... i think it's a wonky setting somewhere.
See if you have anti shake on... if it is it removes the exposure settings.

Problem is after you uncheck the option that disabled the feature that the -/+ does not come back as it stays greyed out.

Not true.
FYI, auto contrast also kills it.
Sent from my Captivate.
I see it is now fixed in the new version. Nice work!
Superior auto is ridiculous taking pictures in 8 Mp instead of 20 and going to insane ISO producing Noisy pictures with low detail, going to "Manual" and setting ISO to 50 helps a lot, so i am shooting only on Manual, but here is the problem - when you start camera it always go to auto you should switch it to manual manually it takes time and you can miss the moment.
Is there a way to force camera app to start in Manual mode directly?
Developers please help!
Nope, only way atm is by making a shortcut and launching the cam through that

Do do a shortcut to manual mode you just long-hold a page, just as you normally would add a widget, and then click "Apps" -> "Shotcuts" -> Camera. Then you can choose a camera-mode.
I found the settings of google camera that give the best HDR+, portraits on Nougat/Oreo Exynos devices. Compared to stock camera, GCam gives better saturation levels and detailed images. HDR+ parameters don’t hugely matter what you choose, and is all personal preference. A higher amount (very high in my case) will take a longer time to process.
New settings attached below. Clean Install is always recommended.
Mod8.3b_IDan_v3.2.9_Exynos.apk
3.2.9 Features
-Fixed black level back camera for Samsung Galaxy A8/A8+
-Attempt to fix OIS
3.2.7 Features
- Fixed black level front
- Enabled OIS by default
- Added saturation options in Advanced HDR+ settings
3.2 Features
- Dark Theme for settings.
- Now you can select the path where to save the photos (doesn't work on sd card but probably can work with some xposed mod).
- Removed all the snapdragon toggles. The app will know when apply that settings.
- Removed custom denoise param and other settings
- Now the app will restart every time you go back from settings to the viewfinder. This means that you don't need anymore to restart the app to apply settings
- Now there are three gestures in the viewfinder:
1. double tap on the black area it will pop the exposure menu directly
2. long-press on gallery and it will open samsung gallery instead of google photos
3. long press on the switch camera and after the restart the viewfinder brightness will be set to maximum
- some minor changes
Gcam Tool v2..32
-Prevent flipping of front camera photos
-Choose which photos you want to move
-Select custom source and destination folders
-Batch move multiple files
-Option to delete the sub folder created by Google Camera
Download

Nice.. I couldn't get that movement correctly to slide it to get lens blur
But it seems to be a old version without the original portrait-mode. They are working on it and posted versions that are working for snapdragon but not for the exynos right now.

Not at all, Live Focus is infinitely better than lens blur. Lens Blur can't detect edges for ****. The problem with Live Focus is it requires adequate lighting for good processing. Lower light tends to do about as well as lens blur, for me at least.
Also Live Focus is fantastic as generating a gradual bokeh across the ground or a wall, it's way more natural. Lens Blur can't do anything like that.

I agree that but lens blur and live focus are totally different in work. Lens blur is a good replacement for devices like S8, S7 etc.
There's a new version that supports Portrait mode, and is working on Snapdragon variants... I've tried, but can't find any setting to work.

For me, the Google app is more natural than Samsung. The Samsung looks more artificial. Check by yourself. I installed the app as in OP. No problems at all.
Is this possible via the stock camera app at all or I need to look into Filmick (or other 3rd party apps) for such features? Auto focus and auto exposure adjusting constantly when shooting changing scenery/lighting can be a real PITA. Cheers
You can use the pro mode to focus manually and get a fix exposure.

Aaargh... I had thought of that so I had looked in Pro mode but didn't see any relevant video settings (or so I thought). Now when someone tells you it's there it somehow extends your awareness and voila, there's a camera icon on the top right corner that, wow, switches to Pro mode for video
Thanks man!
Is this camera icon shows up when you are in the pro mode? Or where? I can't see it.

haha, glad I was not the only one to whom it wasn't so evident!
Enter Pro mode, to the right you see the normal "Photo shoot" button, above it there is a camera icon, hit it and the button changes to "Rec" button and you are in Pro Video mode.
Haha, I found it, thanks man

Hi! You can do that. open camera>Settings>Enable the object tracking option.
Hello lovely people.
I am having issue with the Supermoon Mode in camera.
1. If you see the screen record in Supermoon mode, the moon looks ok. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GBVWsXWr2j7zOVYTvWf72I1bA8gpJP56/view?usp=drivesdk
2. But when I capture in Supermoon mode, the result is a blurry mess, as you can see in picture 2.
3. I tried with pro mode and the result is somewhat ok but you can see lots of artifacts. Not as clear as Supermoon Mode.
4. The other day I tried to take picture of Half moon in "Supermoon" mode. As you can see the result is really good.
So what is going on I really don't get it. Any help?

Did you mean, Clicking on the moon to focus, then at right side of The Focus Square Icon - using the slider to bring down Exposure? Because otherwise I don't see any Exposure Edit option in Supermoon mode.

I didn't turn down the exposure. Just point and shoot in Supermoon mode. Look at the amazing result. I guess there is software bug when capturing in full moon.
