Only when some developer actually bought this phone, or the kirin source code is released... if not, we're pretty much screwed... CM projects must have enough critical mass before they are started, and considering the release range of mate s and P8Max is limited to some parts of Europe and china, I would say that we're pretty much F***ed...

Huawei is refusing to release the opensource bits, even the kernel source is borked, so no, no forseable development in the near future.

And just to unroot doesn't help. If you were rooted you need to flash original firmware. At least that what helped me. (I restored original nandroid backup)

The Mate S is an enigma.
After unroot via SuperSU I can install the update manually.
Bootloader and OEM are unlock.
After install I reinstall TWRP and root again.

i got my mi5 yesterday with china rom
tried to flash it to the new (7.3.5) global one today via edl mode and miflash and the operation was failed with error about not enough storage.
now my phone stuck in boot loop and i cant get to edl via fastboot because my phone is locked
any ideas what can i do?
i thought about running the fastboot flash rom.zip but afraid to make it worst

thanks for the answer, ill wait for the battery to drain and will try it. sure i applied for unlock but it can take up to two weeks..
and in their forum i found out that it can be install on locked devices.. :\ anyway why they block the access to the edl??

I guess its because of your system.In their forum its written that you have to do this proccese with an 64 bit windows or you will get this bootloop problem with an not enough storage error.

i applied to xiaomi to get permission to unlock my phone here: http://en.miui.com/unlock/index.html
it took 3-4 days until they approved it.
its very easy to run their software in fastboot (even with bricked phone)
after that i just flashed an official global rom from miui website and it is working perfect now

PRA Device is P8/9 Lite 2017, not P9 Lite 2016 (VNS).
This ROM will only work with EMUI 8 based Device.

Sorry I read wrong. The G6 doesn't even have a working rom and your concerned about kernels already.. Not a single dev owns a G6 or G6 play. The g6+ is lucky we got a dev and that's only because people are donating funds to a PayPal account to buy a device for our dev.
