I realize that there are multiple threads on this but my problem is kinda unique. When the phone is powered on fast charging doesn't work, I turn the device off and fast charging is working while powered off. Sometimes it's the other way around fast charging isn't working while powered off and when turned on it is working. I don't think its the usb cable because I have tried 2 different cables. Maybe its the power plug? Gonna try my cousins see if it works when I see him. Till than any other ideas on why this might be happening?
How do you know it's fast charging when not on?
My oem charger went bad after a year and did the same as you description in the op. My bet is you need a new one

It has the lightning icon under the battery. If its not there its not fast charging.

Hello, Im using CM7 nighties and notice that when I charge phone with ac wall charger it comes very hot, like 50C and turns off, I guess, because I leave it and when I back look for charged phone I get very hot phone. Then I need to cool it down to turn it on. But when I charge from my laptop chargin is good and battery is not so hot. Could it be my batery bad or I need to calibrate first it?

Are u using original ac adapter?
When charging from USB, voltage is not that high (half than from ac) so phone does not get as much power as from ac, so it isn't hot then
Sent from LG 2X using Tapatalk 3 Beta
the voltage is the same,it's the current you have to worry about
Usb max 500ma and wall is about 1000ma

I use to have the same issue with some CM10 nightly... but with latest is fine
wall ac charger is not orgiginal, but with GB rom or earlier CM7 nighties there was no such a think like hot battery.

That's probably the cause. When I had a non original charger it overheated too.

is there any original chargers on Ebay? :/
Last night I was sleeping while plugged in wall charger. In the morning I saw the phone was half drained and didnt take charge after 4 am. I thought charger problem. So tried several charger! Didnt work. The LED is not turning on at all! I was on IC and stock kernel. I tried to change to elemental, remove UC, fast charge, disable fast boot and all. Nothing changed it!
When I tried again to make it detect in fast boot, the charger port was ****ing hot!
Any one any idea what the **** I got into?
Probably burnt out the charge port. That happened to one of mine. Can you smell burning from the port? Sounds like a warranty job

I'm using the "fast charger" that comes with the phone, but it seem to charge slower than I predicted. It says 1 hour until full charge when they phone is at 55%.
Is this right?
did you use the cable that come with the phone?
not all microusb cable can do fast charge.

Yes. I'm using everthing that comes with it.
The next question is.... were you messing with the phone while it gave you that estimated 1 hour left to fully charged? If you have the screen on and doing a lot of crap with it, of course it will take longer (this may be obvious to some, I'm not trying to insult you if you didn't know this, just stating the fact)
My experience with it went like this yesterday - note that I haven't even unpacked the factory charger, was using the Motorola Turbo Charger for this "experiment"
0% (phone died over night off charger to make this test)
30 mins on Turbo Charger - 45%
1 hour on Turbo Charger - 85%
Had to take it off to go to work, but those are some great numbers for a charger not necessarily designed for this phone, but the device was in Fast Charging mode the whole time, of course, so it was comparative
Is there some way to turn on fast charge? Because 6hours to fully charge or even charge a lot I don't have.

Use the fast charger that came with it or the Turbo Charger and it comes on automatically, 6 hours was with me using wireless charging which is always going to be slower than any wired 2+ amp charger will do

Lol I plugged into the the stock charger from the box and it said 6hrs to charge (from 0) switched outlet just incase that outlet was wonky but same result. The I said screw it and just figured I use to wireless charger so at least the phone would be near me, low and behold it says 3hrs (from 0). So apparently wireless is the way to go.

You must have had something else going on with the phone for it to say 6 hours on the factory charger....... I don't remember what mine said because I plugged it in, powered it on, and started watching the clock in the kitchen, turning on the phone screen only to check battery levels at those specific intervals I stated! I didn't even touch the device to start anything when I started this experiment, so it wasn't running any apps other than Android system level stuff, but no, wireless definitely isn't going to be faster, despite what the estimated timer said on the phone!

Well it's charging super quick compared to that factory charger. On the factory charger (plugged in right after phone died) went from 0 to 5 percent in about 25 minutes. on the wireless charger right now its gone from 5 to 16 in under 20 minutes. more than twice as fast.
Aslo, I am using the new Samsung wireless charger that is supposed to support fast charging.
**EDIT**
It charges even faster if I plug it directly into the cable for the wireless charger. Now it says 1hr29mn instead of 2hrs.

Thanks buddy, this worked for me. I was having the exact issue as you.:good:
I had this same issue guys. Make sure your cable is plugged ALL the way into the charger itself. Mine was not in all the way and I was getting super slow charge times.
superb battery backup than s5

Make sure the cable is plugged all the way in to the charging brick. If it's not plugged in all the way, even a few mm, it will charge much slower.

I believe the laws of physics dictate that this will happen.
Noticed that the phone when powered off takes forever to charge anyone else notice this?

Mine only fast charges when the screen is off OR powered off completely. Both have easy ways of checking whether it's working. The ticker will appear when plugged in when it's on (the one you've seen a million times) but when the phone is powered off under the battery icon is a lightning bolt icon. That only shows up when it is fast charging. Just tried it to confirm. If it's slow then you could try another micro USB cable. Could be worn out or try a different outlet. There are several USB power testers you could try as well. Good luck!

Hey, no problem! I have been ordering a few chargers for my gf to enable fast charging on her lg g4 since the manufacturer didn't ship with one. Only one of my fast chargers worked on hers. Had to test with all the charging apps etc. so I'm up on all the fast charging knowledge lol! Just a FYI, aukey brand chargers seem to work on all various devices with quick charger tech. I got a wall & car charger for 20 bucks via slickdeals in case you need any extras. Amazon with their code. You do have to order them separately to get 10 off though. Well hope it all works out!
So I just installed elementalX kernel on my Nexus 6 here, and then multirom! Coolest mod ever! Anyways, the question here, is what does it mean by usb fast charge when you're in the aroma installer. Is it an option to turn turbo charge on and off? Or is it something entirely different? Thanks!

its something different. it means when you plug into a usb for charging, itll charge faster. normally, it charges much slower via usb than using a wall socket. so it makes it a bit faster.
Awesome! Thanks! You've really helped me a lot these past few posts! Lol

it wont charge as fast as when connected to the wall outlet, but its still faster than a typucal usb port.
Actually the wall charging is unaffected by this mod. Fast Charge only affects USB pc connection, forces 900ma(sometimes more) draw instead of the default 500ma draw, again, only when you are connected to a pc. Wall charging remains unaffected and will charge as fast as it always did whether you have fast charge on or off.

right.
but i never did say that it did affect wall charging. and not all usb connections will see increased speed charging. but the majority of usb ports will
