But... Android 4.4.2 is already rooted, isn't? :weird:
Try to uninstall Samsung's drivers and reinstall it
Odin must recognise your device if it's still alive.
Which ROM are you using? and which file did you flash to root your device?
Try adb reboot, or adb reboot recovery
Only use proper root.zip only. Otherwise phone will damage.

now my phone is bricked (Expensive stone) because my usb debugging is off and the odin do not recornize my captivate in downloading mode!!
What i can do now? How i fix debugging ON that i can flash my phone again to stock etc..
USB debugging has nothing to do with it.
you need to get ODIN to recognize your phone. sounds like driver problems
I install odin drivers for captivate 32bit and my windows 7 don't recognize my phone, also odin do not recognize.. i test Downloading Mode.. Is usb debugging off or on with Downloading Mode?
also sdk manager installed with google samsung drivers..
Anybody else that having this recognize issues with windows 7? what to do that recognize are working
In CWM, check to see if you have the option to Root. If you do, apply Root and try flashing the rom again.
I had similar issues with 2 roms with similar errors and I had to apply root in CWM and re-flash and it went trough fine.

USB DEBUGGING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DOWNLOAD MODE!
usb debugging only has an effect if you are ALREADY booted or currently BOOTING beyond the splash screen. it doesnt matter for download mode...period.

this is one of the most ridiculous things i have read today. root also only applies to the OS....from within recovery or download mode, you arent in the OS...so root doesnt mean SH** within recovery

Don't be a dip****,. I was stating my experience.
From stock 2.1 I could not install Continuum v4 in recovery and got a similar error for E:/
I had to flash a SpeedMod based kernel in recovery and root first before the rom would go all the way trough to flash properly!
It only happens to certain roms...other roms can just flash in recovery from stock no problem without rooting first.

This statement thus proves you have no idea what you are talking about. When you understand how a Rom flash works, then you can come back to the discussion. In the meantime, try reading an update-script or 2

You said that you installed the 32 bit drivers for windows 7? Unless you are running a netbook or installed Win 7 on an older computer you probably need the 64 bit drivers. Most newer laptops these days are 64 bit OS. You can check by right clicking on "my computer" and selecting properties. It will say whether you are running 32 or 64 bit.
I also recommend downloading kies (samsung sync software). You can get it off the Samsung website under downloads. Once it's installed and opened, under tools, you can select install drivers. Go through that process and then close kies (make sure it isn't still running in your system tray), open odin and try to connect in download mode again. Don't forget basic troubleshooting like trying a different USB port if the first one doesn't work the first time.......
Hi everyone
So here it is : No program is able to recognize/detect my Galaxy S i9000M (Bell Vibrant) when it's in download mode, so I can't flash any ROM. My phone is currently fully bricked and unusable. I cannot access to the recovery mode with the three-button thingy or by "adb reboot recovery"
I bricked using Odin 1.8, trying to flash a 2.2 froyo stock ROM from Samfirmware. The flashing went ok, but it failed to reboot. Actually, the screen was turned off and nothing was happening. I figured out it was fully bricked so I made a USB JIG, it worked. I can access my download mode.
I connected the phone to my Windows 7 computer and used Odin to flash back to 2.1 Eclair, with a stock ROM from Samfirmware. It failed (I don't remember the error message, it was a couple days ago...).
I tried with Heimdall Frontened. It had a problem uploading the .pit file, so the flashing didn't work.
Now each time i connect the phone to my computer, Windows (and Heimdall frontened and Odin) doesn't detect it,which means that I can't flash anything on it even though it is in download mode.
I have tried reinstalling like every driver on earth, still not responding.
I tried on another Windows 7 machine and on Ubuntu, the device is not detected.
I tried with different USB cables, nothing happens.
This is my hypothesis (maybe silly) : Could the problem be the Download mode being corrupted?
Whatever... I could use some help from you guys.
Thank you,
Sam
I had/have the same problem.
I installed the Samsung Kies and now my computer recognize my phone again.
But I have still no idea what I need to flash to make my phone working.

That is strange... I tried installing Kies and it didn't detect the phone. And you could just flash any 2.3 stock ROM with Odin I guess.
Hi There,
I am trying to use the general adopted approach for flashing CWM onto my Galaxy S, that is:
Download the correct CFRoot file, Download Odin, Boot the phone in Download Mode and run Odin..
I am unfortunately stuck at the last stage - I have booted in download mode only to find there is no USB connection and therefore Odin will not detect the phone.
My phone boots into Recovery Mode 3e
I have the following:
A Galaxy S running 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXJW4
A CF Root TAR File: CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS
(I believe I have the correct matching file please can someone confirm this for me??)
Odin v1.85
Odin v3.07
Samsung Kies Uninstalled
the Devguru Samsung galaxy S drivers for windows 7 x64
I have tried:
Running USB mode - Samsung Kies, Mass Storage
Enabling USB Debugging
Running Odin in Compatibility mode for windows xp
What am I doing wrong here?!

Try odin 1.3 and when you enter download mode and connect to PC .. if odin is not showing the phone being connected, make sure the drivers are properly installed by going to device manager of your windows..

Thank you both for replying
Unfortunately none of this has worked
I have now tried Odin 1.3, 1.85, 3.07 No joy.
I have tested the drivers I had and removed and reinstalled the link you gave me - on both occasions the phone does appear in device manager as 'SAMSUNG Android' but odin completely fails to detect the device until it's powered on and out of download mode.
Any idea?

Try to use different usb port on pc. To pull out, push in cable in usb port while phone is in download mode and Odin is started. Try another usb cable.
P.S. what did you do that you got non booting system?

Why didn't you read CM 10.2 thread? It is written that it has black screen on recovery.
Try with Odin again, try to pull and put back usb cable. You have Windows 7? Does it show new hardware at all?
You have used Odin before? If not look for some guide on youtube. Maybe you miss something.
Try with ODIN v1.85 and ODIN v3.xx
Do you have any PC activity when you get to Recovery? I read that it just has black screen, but it is functional. Maybe ADB shell is working, so you can flash CoCore over it.
You can try to install this on PC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105707
There you have adb shell, and with some commands you can install kernel. After that you can reboot to Recovery again and you will have working Recovery (but still non booting system). Next step is to download some JB stock based ROM and to push it to sd card (you can use that Total commnader in link I gave you). After that just install ROM and it should work.
I am at work now, so I can't help you in details.

Read rest of my post, I change it.
If you can't handle it - find someone that has more knowlage in Android to help you (that can do it for you).
Uninstall Kies if you have reinstalled it and remove any samsung drivers, do a registry clean on Windows with CCleaner (you can find it with Google), reboot pc then install this usb drivers, reboot again and try if now the phone in download mode is recognized on Odin (firstly powen on in download mode then connect to usb)
