Replaced screen, now proximity sensor not working - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just did a screen replacement on my wife's Moto X 2014 and now the screen is dark during calls no matter how the phone is held. I read on line about this being a common problem with a screen replacement on the original Moto X; if the gasket around the proximity sensor is not replaced during assembly, but nothing on the 2014. I will be taking it apart again and looking for anything mis-aligned. Just hoping someone could tell me what to look for if this has happened to them.
FWIW, I did a full screen replacement with digitizer and frame.

I had the same problems, the replacement screen had darker hole, I need to open and clean/scratch the hole

Can you tell me more about what you did? Just took it apart and everything looks OK. The new screen has a frosted window with a black line down the center. Is this normal? I don't have the original to compare. I cleaned both the window and the sensor, and still not dice. Of course it is always possible that the fall broke the sensor also.

[Q] Opening the case

I've have read that you need to pre-heat the S2 in order to open the case. Does anyone have any idea what temp is required?
Hi. I've also been looking for answers about how to open tab s2 back cover as I have a primen with a bump that appeared next to the power and volume buttons. So I would like and try to open it in order to see if something went loose.
I haven't found any information or tutorial about this....

Opening the case on an S2
I've read many articles about the difficulty of opening the case on an S2. Everything thing from a "special oven", to an expensive heat gun, to a special "bean bag" from Ifixit that you heat in a microwave. Just to let everyone know, I succeeded using an ordinary household steamiron.
First pressed the iron along the top and one side edge and used a single edged razor blade like the ones in a "box cutter" tool, to pry up the corner enough to insert an exacto knife. Then heated the entire top edge and ran the knife down the edge with the tip inserted about 3/8ths of an inch. Placed playing cards in the openings to keep from resealing and then did the same with the side edges. You have to be very careful using the knife along the bottom edge because there is a ribbon cable about 2" in from the side with the Samson logo, on the T810. But with the other three edges loose, just heating the bottom edge should allow you to lift the entire screen off, being careful not to damage the cable that attaches it to the tablet.
Also, I'd advise strongly that you have a "tempered glass" screen protector, not a flimsy "film" one, to add structural strength to the front glass to lessen the chance of cracking.

LCD display replacement for MIDO

Hello there,
I need to replace my LCD display. Does anybody can tell me where to buy a compatible LCD panel + frame, possibly original at a competitive price?
I own a Redmi 4 Note global snapdragon. I'm based in Italy.
Thank you,
Davide

You have to be very lucky to receive a well glued frame. Even if you buy from the same supplier a lot of screens some of them will be terribly glued. The problem is that there are almost no edges at right and left so that it can be properly glued and backlight doesn't pass through the front glass and the frame. It might be fine if you test it first but when you're done with the replacement and it's time to put the back cover you will realise that it stretches the frame alot so if it's not properly glued you will have problem. My suggestion is to get separately an lcd and a frame and glue them by yourself with this glue https://m.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...C1.A0.H0.Xb7000.TRS0&_nkw=b7000+glue&_sacat=0 . Also compare the lcd flex cables of the new screen with the original broken one and if you find exposed connections just transfer the yellow duct tape from old screen to new (you can use regular electric duct tape as well). Finally transfer the white paper at the back of the buttons backlight to the new screen, that will make the button backlight to appear correctly, most screen replacement don't have that paper.

Seems to be quite challenging... And the outcome more likely mediocre.

i replaced 2 screens with screens (plus frames) from this seller:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...-Frame-Assembly-Redmi-Note-4/32800302529.html
Maybe i was just lucky, but the panels are really good. Only the button lights are a lil bit darker than the original ones (still very usable). And i ve ordered a lot of display on alix, sometimes you get ****ty ones but these panels were solid!

Thanks for the feedback. It seems that buying on Ali can be disappointing. I was wondering if you know any other websites where to buy original spares.
Thanks again.

Blue line

Good day.
Does any one experience anything similar? My phone is a few days old, the blue line is on the middle lower edge. In real life sometimes seen even more. It is especially visible on darker backgrounds, locked screen... Do you have any idea, what that would be? Thank you.
Edit: cannot add hyperlink...

Don't have that on mine at all but there were a few other posts mentioning this thing, all of them with the blue line at the bottom. It could be a panel defect or it could be liquid damage seeing that it always appears on the edge close to the usb-c port. Never spray or pour liquids in the usb port of a non-water resistant phone because it most likely will affect the screen edge that's closest to that opening. It looks a bit too clean to be liquid damage so you should definitely try to return it or swap it with another unit, It's not a common fault and will most likely bug the hell out of you.
Thank to you both. It was totally new and sealed, so I think it is more like a factory defect. Returning it will be a hassle, since I bought it from the aliexpress (China to Europe). Will see how will the dispute go.
Thanks again!
This is my post, I had the same when I bought it

Fortunately I had less than 15 days of buying it, I open a dispute & after many evidences I had a refund of 10% because I didn't send the phone back & everything works fine. I still having it but it is less noticable and it is only appreciated under the sunlight and with black background.

Screen goes black when calling or getting called

Hi.
I got this phone about 5 months ago, and i was not regularly using it to make phone calls... but unfortunately now i have to, since i smashed my main phone.
Anyway, it worked perfectly until last week.
Now, whenever i get called, or i'm trying to call someone, the display goes black. I cannot see who's calling and cannot answer the call, unless i drag the drop-menu (usually notifications are displayed there) from the top; and if i'm the one trying to call someone, the moment i press call the screen goes black and cannot use the phone until either the person answers and then hangs up, or i have to wait for that robot to finish it's speech ...
Games like CoD mobile and Lineage Revolution work fine, but i need to be able to use the phone now (
This morning i whipped the device clean, but it still does the same.
Please help.
Thank You.
I had the same problem turned out to be the glass screen protector I was using, if your using one take it off and try calling someone.

Do not buy the tempered glass screen protector from Nubia for the 3/3S. Customer service has admitted it interferes with proper operation of the proximity sensor.

Hello, thank you for your contact. After attaching the tempered film, it will have a slight impact on the proximity sensor of the mobile phone. It is recommended not to paste the tempered film.

Question Broken "REAR DISPLAY"

Hi,
It seems I have a very peculiar problem at hand as there is absolutely no info about it anywhere. I happened to drop my Mi 11 Ultra from about 6 feet height and it landed with a thud with the display facing down. Luckily the display survived. No crack, no damage nothing but then came the shocker. Somehow the rear display has cracked. The glass protecting the camera lenses and the rear display itself is fine but the rear display has a few cracks and it has become dead.
I quickly checked the rest of the phone, everything's just fine. Now I did not think that replacing the rear view display would be such a big problem but when I contacted Mi Customer care via Online chat, they said that the rear display can't be replaced in India!
I saw a couple of teardown videos of the Mi 11 Ultra and it seems that the display is molded/sealed or embedded into the ceramic back. So technically it seems to look like as if replacing the ceramic back means the rear display will by default come with it.
Can anyone please confirm this? Mi Customer Care seems to be useless. Need your input guys. I will be really grateful. Thanks!
