If you want maximum battery life, minimum performance, best stability but less features, stay on gingerbread. If you want balance between battery life and performance, great stability and a few more features, upgrade to ics. And if you want average performance, high number of tw features, but really low stability and average battery upgrade to jelly bean 4.1.2
---------- Post added at 11:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 PM ----------
I'm not finished yet.
Now is for aosp/cm roms. If you want better performance than jb 4.1.2 and the most number of features but low stability and even lower battery life, upgrade to jb 4.2.2 (root box, carbon, slimbean, cm etc).
Now if you want something that is the latest, the newest, the highest optimized performance but is experimental and has the lowest in stability and battery life and highest number of bugs then try cyanogemod 4.3 experimental build (4.3 discussion in general section but locked ROM thread in original development section)
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 PM ----------
So as you can see as the android version number goes up, it becomes more and more worst in battery life. (BTW questions should go in q&a section and please hit thanks if I've helped you) and I'm actually telling you everything based on my experiences. If different ROM with different android versions

I see, well maybe later i will upgrade to ics at least, thanks.
ics is the worst update so far...... even éclair and froyo were better than ics... so either you stay with gb or upgrade to jb..
Well i just plugged my phone onto my pc and it updated it to ics, as far as i tested it, its better than gingerbread, but well i need to test it farther. Thanks for all your suggestions.

So as far as i read, that brickbug only happens with custom ics roms and with specific kernels, i got my update officially from kies so i dont know if this bug still applies to me.And if it applies why does my phone updated successfully ?, im using it at the moment and everything is ok.Which kind of information do you need in order to tell me if this bug exists on my device?.
My updated android version is now 4.0.4
->Base band N7000UBLR1
->Kernel version 3.0.15-N7000UBLR3-CL890184 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT fri jul 13 20:10:47 KST 2012
->Compilation number IMM76.UBLR3 .
Edit: Regarding that "safe kernel" that i apparently must flash since im on ics, i looked up the thread of that safe kernel but i dont know where to look for my specific kernel code, any help here would be usefull.
Edit 2: After looking for my code apparently is UBLR3 and there isnt any safe kernel for that version ?.

Read more and you'll see the brickbug is present on any device with an unsafe emmc chip, all ics and quite probably JB kernels are affected. Keep reading and get yourself fully familiar.

Scratch that, I just saw you said T-Mobile. So I'm assuming it's the D415, correct? If that's the case, explain to me exactly how you installed the ROM. Because I have 2 D415's here(mine and a buddy's), that I tested the ROM on prior to uploading it, and didn't have any mobile network issues. Let me know, I'll keep checking back!

Hmm, sounds like you installed it correctly. Which version of TWRP are you using? I'm on 2.8.5.0, and when I wipe data/cache/dalvik then install the ROM, I have no issues. I just had the time to sit down, and do a clean flash on both of the D415's I have in my possession, and they are both working fine. I'm trying to recreate the issue you are experiencing, but everything is working on my end

jesus flash stock 4.4 kdz and then this rom...its all over this forum
I have tried to install the ROM twice. Both times I get some sort of keyboard malfunction and it won't pop up. I wonder if it could be the gapps I'm using. I like the absolute minimum gapps possible, so which one would work best?
I am using the latest TWRP. I have the latest CM 11 nightly and am on an LG d415.
Edit:
Never mind! Changed the gapps and it works great so far. Just have to see how the battery holds up now!
Great job so far!

Yea, you have to make sure you use the correct gapps package for each android version. For instance, 5.0 and 5.1 use different gapps packages, even though they are both lollipop. Glad you got it working though, hope you enjoy the ROM!

OK...this truly is a great working ROM but it is just rapidly eating my battery. I fully charged it and sat and watched as it fell 1 % every 3 to 4 min where as with cm 11 can listen to 8 hours of spotify and it drops a measly 20%. I even turned off all of the unnecessary things and went into privacy guard and denied the usual culprits (though I noticed some of them wouldn't let me like location and a few others). I did notice the processor jumping clear up to the highest speed and back down to the lowest quite a bit. Maybe its running too hot too much? I really don't know what I should be looking for in that area. At any rate I've switched back to CM 11 for now and everything is working fine so its not my battery...I will try it again as you develope it. Other than the battery problem I'm having its really awesome!

Battery life is pretty bad on all 5.0+ roms for us. Dont know why but it needs fixing.
On cm11 i charged my phone every 4-5days now every day or two...so its really sad
Not for me, my battery life on LP is far better than it was on KK
Wow, 1% drop every 3 min? I'm personally getting great battery life on this ROM. I can easily hit almost 6 hours of screen on time before I need to recharge (which to me is great, considering my nexus 4 struggled to reach 4.5 hours of screen on time) I'm not sure on that one, I'll see if anyone else has horrible battery drain
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile app
Too early to judge but for me battery life is better than on custom KK ROMs (and worse than on KK/Lollipop stocks)
Ok I'm gonna try the #3 version next, but what is a "clean" flash. I usually just do a factory reset and cache/dalvik. Is it something more than that? Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Nope, that's perfect! Most people like to dirty flash ROMs, meaning they just flash the ROM on top of their existing one, without wiping cache/data/dalvik. You are doing it just right though

Flashed the latest build (beta 3), and seems pretty smooth. Video recording is working on my D415 . No auto focus for camera though and my wifi keeps disconnecting (will not turn back on). I have to reboot, then it works for a while, then turns off again.

Hi guys , i guess its one of the common issues that note 5 users are facing , but i believe my situation is the worst !!
yesterday i have fully charged my note 5 then i slept, and when i woke up today i have touched my phone and it was very hot !! kinda 80c, checked the battery and god ! it was 13% !!!
that's very very weird i mean !! in 7 hours my phone spent 87% of the battery life !!! can anyone please help me ? :crying:
I had similar issue with my phone recently. I installed the latest OS available and now i lose 30% or so battery just letting the phone sit over night. with no notifications or background apps.
Based on which software? The new OK6?
If you tripped knox you cant use the stock kernel even if you have stock firmware. It will not go to deep sleep. You must use the different kernel.

Correct. But you can use one of the modded kernels. There are several in the Android Development thread.
The rooting thread makes it clear that you have to flash a modded kernel after rooting

Two main options I would suggest: flash Dr Ketan's L8 ROM if there is a version for your model. It has none of these issues.
Or have a look at the last few pages of http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/how-to-root-note-5-t3205073 - there is an issue with super su 2.6+ and no deep sleep. @drketan is trying a fix which is in that thread.

No - it has been reported occasionally. If I remember rightly one of the causes is a defective image file for Briefing but I may be misremembering.

Can you elaborate more ?
I'm also having this issue. I've flashed stock and wiped data/factory reset but I'm still having this issue. Is there any way I can fix this whilst staying on stock? Also, yes I've already tripped knox.
it is not occasional. Its in the every kernel code on the note firmwares. I linked a post on previous page. If you read it you can get it what I mean. Its samsung side issue and I dont belive its fixed ever. Kernel looks the knox flag and If its tripped makes some memory parts unwritable and when is the boot done try to flush the cache and in the boot process this places maked not writable. Kernel try it over and over again and that is the cause of no deep sleep issue. So it will happen all the note5 variants. Even if you go full stock there will be deep sleep issue once knox tripped. There is no way for the bring back knox to untrip too. I blame samsung on this one.

Samsung might argue it is not their issue and thus they are not fixing it. The Stock Kernel is meant to work with unmodified phones only with Knox=0. Once the Knox is tripped, it is not going to work anymore because they are marking some directories as read only for security reasons if knox is tripped - I would say do not wait for a fix from Samsung so either use a custom Kernel or use a fixed stock kernel on this site from @garyd9 if you want to keep some of the hardware functionality.
Hi guys
I have question, i rooted my phone ( note 5 ). But i regretful , so flashed official rom again(4 files rom) .now everything is good but i have a big problem. My phone have a lot of battery drain in standby (2 hours =10%) and my android system with android os always stay awake and never go to sleep .now i want ask you if samsung release android 6( marshmallow) for note 5 and i update my phone with OTA to android m , my problem ( battery drain) could be improved or solved??? Pls guidance
Tnx
Change to 2g only
I chenged to 2g but still have same issue. Its a bug , maybe solved with android m
I am experiencing the same thing on a different phone (Alcatel Idol 3). I changed from LTE > HSPA+ and the issue still occurs, just a lot less frequently. I thought that it had to do with reception so I started changing my phone to airplane mode and connecting to WiFi when I went to bed. I thought that solved the issue but I had substantial battery drain less night which proves otherwise. Much less frequent occurrence fwiw but still not 100% resolved

I have no idea of Android 6 update will fix your issue.
All I can suggest is to re-root with a kernel patched for the deep-sleep bug. A kernel such as my SkyHigh kernel.

Follow these steps to stop idle high drain.
On your GPS and select only wifi and Mobile network and off GPS.
Than go into lock and security and other security and than device administration and off all. It might save high idling drain. And syc should be off so that it can't auto syc. Android beam, nfc all other are also at off.

Root with stock ROM is very much liveable for me after applying the deep sleep fix (working perfectly for me):
Deep Sleep Fix - APK
I was having no deep sleep after root, applied this fix & am now getting ~75% deep sleep.
If you don't want to go the APK way, you can meddle with the system yourself (haven't tried this myself though):
Deep Sleep Fix - Manual Way

Precisely, deep sleep does help a lot with battery drain on stock, rooted ROM, see the fix above.
I updated to 6.0.1 it worked well with some laggs, but yesterday a message from System UI in the notification bar said your Device is Heated alot we'll reduce performance, Screen Brightness and will block charging from then i tried alot but my phone is not getting charged please help {SM-G900H}
please help:crying:

This update 6.0 is sucks if u ask me..
I tried the update several times and everytime i go back to lollipop 5.0 .. why? Heating, poor battery life, LAGS !!, slow charging compared to lollipop, my fav app (Mx Player) doesn't work well on MM..
Maybe it's not meant to work on old devices :/
Well, it's best update since android 4.4,
Battery is awesome, performance is good, all smooth.

MM is much much better than KK or Lollipop
Battery life increased a lot
And till now I did not face any heating issues
MM is butter smooth on my s5 G900H
Try going to stock recovery and clear cache partition and data
And then flash stock rom
Sometimes it might be a problem with your country rom
If problem still exists
Try flashing any nearby country's rom of your model number

I already did dumbass. That's the norm when installing/flashing a newer Android OS Build.

I already did those. Based on my experience with stock roms, performance varies with region. I tried nearly all of the firmwares from other regions, but they all have the same issue, some are even worse.

I also did, except for CyanogenMod which I never liked.
But yes, still the same results.
Retards 6.0.1 is 100% better than lollipop
