Sprint Note5 to Boost. Directions please? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I posted this question in the general / newb friendly section but received no response. Please advise....
Sprint Note 5 to Boost?
Ok so I ran out and bought the Galaxy S6 from boost after waiting years while I had the s3 rooted and flashed TO BOOST. Now a full fledged boost customer I would like to keep boost where I enjoy my $40 bill but want the Note 5.
I noticed the S6 has a SIM card slot (I think), wondering if I could buy a sprint Note 5 and replace the SIM card I have with boost SIM card and if that will work?
Or
Do I need to flash the sprint note 5 to Boost?
Or
Any reasonable suggestions in obtaining he Note 5 and keeping Boost?
Thanks.....

When it comes to Sprint's network, the compatibility is all up to what sprint and boost will allow on their network. The sim card slot Just means it's LTE capable. You may be able to get it flashed to Boost on the 3G network if they don't accept it.

[Q] [q] cheapest carrier on at&t? Prepaid?

Hi, I am thinking of getting the Galaxy Note GT-n7000 international version.
I would like to use the carrier AT&T.
Could someone please, in an organized manner, tell me what I have to do to get my phone to work on the AT&T carrier with data?
I read previous threads and it was all over the place...people talking about APN and etc.
I am a complete Android newbie. I have never owned an Android device in MY LIFE.
So could someone tell me the steps I need to take? and what an APN is?
I am currently using the iPhone 4 with an AT&T sim card on gophone (myprepaidrefill.com) for $25.
I can't get any data with this so I just use WI-FI for data. It is unlimited messaging.
Also, should I get the note after the Note 2 launches to get it at a lower price (or will the price even drop?)?
I am on short of money for a unlocked phone so I am thinking of getting the original Note.
No one.. Really? please help me
Www.straighttalksim.com
I've been using straight talk's att sim for almost a year now and it has been incredible. $45/month for unlimited talk and text and 2 gb data on att's 4G network. Just buy the sim and pop it into any gsm phone and you're good to go. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help you. I've got an n7000 on straight Talk and it's great
Apple innovates and Samsung copies, huh? Tell that to my galaxy note

[Q] Boost mobile & Nexus 6?

Does anyone have the nexus 6 on boost mobile? Or know if it's possible(what will and will not work, if possible) I would really would like to stay with boost. I have a flashed m7 and I pay $35mo for everything and able to call Canada, can't beat that.... Maybe project fi. But I want to use my new nexus 6 while I wait for my invite to project fi. If anyone can shine any light on this or comment it would be appreciated.

Thanks man appreciate you. I ordered mine from Google so I'll see on Monday
Ok called boost and they said they can't activate the phone because it a not a boost phone. I told them it's an unlocked phone not tied to any service. I gave them the meid # but say they still can't activate it. I asked can I get a SIM card with my info. I'll just put it in and see if it works. They said no. Can anyone help or have a work around?

Just forget about boost... They suck anyway... If you're looking for a good deal get Metro PCS... They have everything unlimited for 45 bucks I think... And it's LTE...
Thanks but for the deal have I rather stay with boost and wait for project fi. I just want to figure how to stay on boost with the nexus 6. I'm still open to ideas

Even though boost is sprint, it works a little differently. Most of the prepaid mvnos have set phones that are able to work on the service. If it's not on the list, you usually can't use it. Now you can try activating it yourself online the same way you would with sprint, I think by leave off a certain amount of characters for the imei, but it probably won't work once again, because they operate a little differently. Even though the nexus is unlocked and make for any carrier worldwide, they are still a few limits I'm afraid when it comes to US carriers. And I use to work for sprint back in the day, so I'm not just blowing smoke if you're wondering...

Thanks. I'll just have to wait for project fi. I don't think I'm going to get a better than I have now with any other service

I just ordered a SIM card from Boost, I just told them I have a Galaxy S6 so they're sending me a SIM. I'll try it out and see if it works. I've been able to flash my Verizon Galaxy Note3 with Boost with the help of a thread on XDA but part of that thread was shut down by the MODs. So if the Nexus 6P works with Boost then no need to flash phones. Here's hoping. Will let you know when I get my SIM in 10 days.

Unfortunately I don't have good news. Boost Mobile will not activate or RE SKU the Nexus 6P device to Boost Mobile since it's not a Boost compatible phone. I'm so upset at Boost right now, because Nexus 6P will work with every carrier in the world except stupid Boost Mobile because they simply won't allow it, not because the phone is lacking in hardware capability. I threatened to cancel service and they said they'll send me a new phone for free. I don't know why I would want a LG Volt 2 when I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 that I flashed over to boost. They can RESKU sprint phones over to Boost, including Sprint Galaxy Note 3 or Sprint Iphones 5 or greater I think. I don't want to flash a Nexus 6P device to Boost because it defeats the purpose of a Global phone and even if it can be done, I don't know if anyone has done it yet.
The only reason I'm with Boost is for their International service, if it wasn't for that I really don't care to be with them. For $10 extra I get unlimited to landlines to a lot of countries and I also get unlimited to certain cell phones as well even though cell phones are not included in my plan, not sure how that happened there but I'm not going to complain.
Also the new Google Voice OBIHAI device is a good alternative for international calls if you buy that device on Amazon and also download Google Voice app on an android cell phone to get those rates, it's 1cent per minute International to a lot of countries. It's also a good alternative for a free house phone in my opinion. I think if enough people complain to Boost they'll make it compatible to Boost.
I read somewhere on reddit that a guy got his Nexus 6 to Resku over to Boost, but when I called them they said that they couldn't do it so not sure how that person with the Nexus 6 got them to do it. Anyway hope that helps.
Screw Boost Mobile
I figured I would just post it here. You can get better pricing with ProjectFi with Google and better service than BoostMobile.
I decided to ditch them and go to ProjectFi with Google since Boost wouldn't activate the Nexus6P with their service.
Better pricing IMHO.

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 on Straight Talk

Hello everyone!
I just bought an att samsung galaxy s6 and had it unlocked. I currently have straight talk service and it is completely horrible! The coverage map shows excellent service in my area. My friends have straight talk service and their phones have awesome service and blazing fast 4g lte speeds. My friends have branded straight talk phones (like galaxy s3 etc). My att S6 is horrible though.
Im sitting beside my friend right now. He has straight talk branded galaxy s3. Both his phone and my phone are both GSM sim phones using the same band and towers. We both installed speedtest app and used the exact same test server. He would go first and I would go when his speed test was finished. My friend got like 35 mbits down and 17 mbits up. I got 1 mbit down and 0.76 mbit up.
I have called tech support about 20 times trying to figure out why my phone is so slow but nobody can figure it out. I have heard ever excuse from my phone needs factory data reset to my phone uses different towers than my friends phones (which one has an unlocked att s4 phone).
Does anyone know why my phone is so slow and my friends phones are blazing fast? Any help is appreciated.
Oh, btw... my phone and my friends phones have exact same apn setting etc.
StraighTalk have 2 different Sim Card, one for the T-Mobile phone and one for the AT&T version, make sure you got the AT&T version, cause if you have the T-Mobile one, the reception is horrible. That happed to me and I order a new AT&T version Sim card from them and that solve the problem.
I do have the att sim card in my phone. I bought the byop kit and it has the tmobile sum still in the package. Tech support also says I have the correct sim and everything is provisioned correctly on their end. I've verified my sim card number with about 4 different techs.

Note 5 (T-mobile SM-N920T) wanting to use on ProjectFi

The Devices contains ALL bands required for Sprint and T-mobile, WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM.
I know that I can not "Activate" The ProjectFi SIM Card on my Note 5, which is why I'm looking at buying a used Nexus 6 off of Craigslist to use for activation, however, a few things I would like to know.
The image you see here is of my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on T-mobile (SM-N920T) with an Unactivated (yet) ProjectFi SIM Card inserted.
On imgur dot com, put a slash and then 7DaTmAg to see the picture
This shows that even without being unlocked, the Note 5 has Signal and decent 4G LTE Connectivity.
What I am asking is:
1) Since this device includes all the bands required for Sprint AND T-Mobile AND can run the ProjectFi app without crashing, and has native WiFi Calling built-in:
A) Will it to be able to handle the Google ProjectFi Seamless network switching between Sprint and T-Mobile?
A-1)Or would it have to be unlocked first to be able to do this? Or would it not do it, either way?
B) Would it support WiFi Calling through ProjectFi?
And C) On an off note, here...If my device gets blacklisted by T-mobile due to non payment (They are just too expensive and not providing the service I need where I live), Would that affect my operational status on ProjectFi's service?

Yes I just resurrected the heck out of this thread!!!
Did you ever use your note 5 on fi? I am contemplating it but need a little confirmation add I have not been able to find any solid info of if it users sprint as well.
No response, huh? I have a N920T that was on T-Mobile but just cancelled the service. Currently using hangouts to talk while I figure this out.

This thread sure wants to stay alive. I can answer this to some extent, however. I used my Fi sim in my international unlocked Note 5 for a bit as a test. I have a Nexus 6p so I activated it using that phone since I'm pretty sure thats the only way to activate the sim the first time. I also force switched the phone to Tmobile before removing the sim and putting it my Note 5. I used it for a few hours and data was fine as well as calls/text. I have no experience using it as a long term solution so I can't guarantee it won't stop working down the road, but it worked for me for an evening.
I would think the sprint note 5 would work best on this service but I've never seen anyone mention it in the sprint forums.

N950N Note 8 256GB working on at&t

SO I picked up a 256GB emperor edition from Korea. It is Confirmed to have every single LTE band that AT&T uses. I put my sim in and only get 3G not 4G. Called at&t and they said they need to re-appropriate the IMEI for the USA as it comes up as a 2g/3g phone because the SKoren SK telecom IMEI assigned to the phone is different in the USA. IS that True? Anyone know how and if I can get the Phone to work on 4G LTE on at&t or do I have to hope they get it right? I paid $1400 for this phone I don't want to use a 64GB version I have been waiting to have 500+ GB on a phone for so long.. Any TIps? Hints? Recommendations?
EDIT: for those reading this thread for the first time. As of 10/9/17 I was able to get good LTE speeds as well as WIFI calling and Video Calling on my N950N note 8 Korean Exynos model. In a nutshell here is what I did to make it work.
Flash nemesis n950F rom to my phone.
Flash AT&T CSC to the phone using the CSC tool and you do have to modify one line (user RED FLAME) has this in the CSC thread.
Call at&t and give them the IMEI of a VOLTE wifi calling/video calling capable cellphone (I used my wifes S8+ - and yes you can DOUBLE USE IMEI on the same account)
I also did one other thing - Check page 14 for that information.
I just wanted to give a synopsis of this thread so new N950N and at&t owners don't feel like they are wasting their time searching XDA and google. I only wish other people did this when their problem is solved so people can easily see they are not in the wrong place and don't have to read tons of pages of stuff.

Hi.
There is a thread somewhere here they were talking about similar problems.
What you where told is essentially correct. Though they also said that they needed a new sim card, too.
Hope this helps. Still waiting for my Note 8.
Too bad those devices do not have the CDMA bands...
I have the same model and same problem but with softbank, though softbank has been less helpful.. i read someone flashing a different csc (if its the right one) will "unblock" the phone? Would any exymos model csc work?
My roaming menu is also greyed out... not sure if that is related.
I think you just need to give them the IMEI and have them set it up for LTE in their system, since they don't by default allow LTE on bring your own devices.
Did you change the apn? I have the same phone on tmobile and i changed the apn to the tmobile apn and i have no problems with the phone.

Just a quick comment - I think you mis-spoke. ATT Does allow LTE on Bring your own devices. I have been using G955F variants for the last 4 years and never had to do anything other than put the SIM card in for it to work. HOwever, LTE Enhanced Services are not available on Bring your own Devices. This includes HD Calling, Wifi Calling and Video Calling. BUT, LTE will work.
I don't know anything about the Korean Model so I hope the OP is able to get things straightened out - but other variants have always worked on ATT - including TMOBILE PHONES and international variants as well.

That's probably what I meant. I haven't been an AT&T customer for many years, and have been with T-mobile for all my smart phone career, and they don't require any special setup on their end for VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, etc as I can confirm with my Korean Note 8. After somewhat jankily switching CSCs with a modified script that was originally made for S8 and 8+ phones I definitely have VoLTE and probably have Wi-Fi calling working without any communication to T-mobile.
Waiting on at&t now.. to see what happens.. SPEC for SPEC this phone is exactly the same as an at&t phone. It has every single band, not missing a single one. If you put the specs side by side there is ZERO difference. I changed the APN - there are 3 at&t choices. One gives me 3G the other 2 do not work. SO waiting on at&t to re-appropriate the IMEI to register as a note 8 on their network. I had not idea it was going to be this much of a pain in the arse. I was told by a few sellers, pop in your sim and your good to go. I did need a new sim since my note 4 sim did not fit in the note 8, so They gave me a new sim. I put the sim (using an adapter) back into my Note 4 until they change over the IMEI and the new sim works just fine on the note 4 - all my video calling, wifi calling and tethering work fine. So hoping I do not need to return this phone and use a 64GB model. I wish samsung would just release the 256 here on at&t like apple is doing with the iphone X. I would pay $1200 for it no problem. (and since the iphone X is $1149 with 256gb - I am sure samsung would do $999 or $1099 to undercut apple. But Samsung is going to epic fail and never give the US customers what they want.
Hi there, I would also like to have the Emperor's edition, and use it in Canada (Bell) and USA (T-Mobile or AT&T). Is N950N the correct model number for this edition? Does it come with dual sim? Thanks! So far I found an Ebay seller from Hong Kong with F950FD which looks to be 256GB Duos - I'm wondering what the difference is with N950N and whether I will have an issue with region lock?
Thanks for any comments...

No, I was using it on a HTC10 and previously on a Note 4...
Totally DIsappointed... No way I am keeping this $1300 phone for how crappy it is on At&T.
They Finally Updated the IMEI so that is shows up as a next gen smartphone on at&t network and I get an LTE logo. I set my own ACCESS POINT as well as used all 3 that showed up automatically. ATT Phone, ATT NEXTGENPHONE and ATT UTDATA (Nextgen) + I did what was recommended on att.com for bringing over a phone that might not get the access point which was the same settings as ATT Phone - all of them gave me LTE on my bar and showed AT&T as the network. Every single LTE Band on this phone is the same as the official ATT note 8. Yet on my speed test I couldn't get better than 4MB/s down and 1.56MB/s up, my note 4 (pop the sim card back in there) even with 1 Bar on my phone I get 42MB/s download and like 10MB/s Upload.
IT is too late to call at&t tonight but I am extremely disappointed. I have wanted a phone with 256GB of memory for like 2 years now, and to have MicroSD expansion for just MUSIC (NOTHING ELSE).
If At&t can't get this note 8 to perform exactly like a at&t version would, then I either going back to my Note 4 or Perhaps the US Samsung unlocked version (which I already have but is not opened as I hoped to sell it and make a few hundred on it to make up for the $1300 I spent on this Emperor Edition.
Any advice?
Anyone want to buy it.. I paid $1299.99 Shipped from NK. Instead of returning it - if anyone wants to buy it, id do the same thing $1299.99 shipped anywhere in US or Canada. Perhaps it will work better on another network...

tl;dr - Under Settings->Connections->More Settings there's an option titled Reset Network Settings and, i had to use that on my Korean, Note Fan Edition to get LTE working.
more detail on how i got VoLTE and HD Voice working.... i grabbed an ATT (Snapdragon) S8+ CSC and manually applied to the FE. To get HDVoice and VoLTE working, i called ATT and told them i was going to use my (no-longer used/retired) ATT Samsung S7Active with my cell number. this step was a must to get VoLTE working. once they associated S7Active IMEI with my cell number, i rebooted the Note FE and VoLTE was active. i occasionally receive calls and the HD Voice icon appears on the dialer screen; i assume the other person is calling me via Wifi when i see the icon. Video calling and Wifi calling haven't worked for me on none of my international devices. once i got my UK note 8, i applied the same CSC content (after rooting my device), i inserted the same ATT sim used in the Note FE, reset network settings and VoLTE and HD Voice (when receiving calls) still works.
I don't know about the Korean model, but here is how you get Volte on ATT on the Note 8 F model. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73851525&postcount=308 After you slightly modify the zip and flash this, you must call ATT and give the friendly customer service person the IMEI of a phone purchased from ATT directly that is roughly equivalent and had Volte and wifi calling features. I used an old S7. ATT will NOT accept an IMEI of any phone not sold by ATT. Once they put it into their system, reboot your Note 8 and whala - wifi calling and Volte work perfectly.

Kind of a NOOB when it comes to all this. I haven't flashed or done any phone hacking in a few years (my s4 was the last phone I really played with).
SO I downloaded the CSC Selection V1.2.1 on Android Filehost
I honestly do not know what to do from here.
Thanks.

did you try resetting network settings to at least get LTE going? Under Settings->Connections->More Settings there's an option titled Reset Network Settings and, i had to use that on my Korean, Note Fan Edition to get LTE working. Or are you good to go on LTE?
