I don't know if this is your issue, but this was a common problem after you inserted the PEN in backwards. If you stick the pen in with the click part first into the phone and try and pull the pen back out it brakes the little sensor down inside the phone. After that phone would never know pen was removed. When I say brakes in the phone I don't mean something broke off and fell out or was rattling in the phone. It just broke internal without any sign of it from the outside. Don;t ask me how I know this but I did get a new phone withing 2 days of my first one.

Huge problem!!!

I recieved my tilt from Amazon roughly aweek ago. Everything was going fine up until not to long ago. The screen stopped registering any screen taps from the stylus or my finger while everything else worked just fine. I reset the unit a few times hoping to resolve the issue. Nothing. THEN I made the big mistake of hard resetting the unit. Now i get to the calibration screen and no further. Anyone got any ideas? Any idea where I can take this to get looked at? i was contemplating sending it to Amazon as defective but ive already flashed the HTC Rom to it shortly after recieving it. Am I completely screwed? Help!!

you could try reflashing the original ROM
Yeah, I tried that shortly after making my original post. Still nothing. I'm curious if the cable for the digitizer came loose somehow (no idea how though) or if it is an actual hard ware issue.
I thought something was wierd when it was working though. When I used the stylus the taps were very inaccurate recently. More so towards the upper hight hand corner of the screen. Calibrated it a few times hoping to correct it but it was always slightly off still. Then it just stopped working all together.I thought it had something to do with my screen protector but after removal was still a no go.
Luckily I am still able to make phone calls thanks to the slide out keyboard. Not sure if it rings or anything when I recieve one though. Still stuck at the calibration screen Any other ideas?
What size star key is needed to disassemble the tilt/tytn II? I may try taking a look inside to see whats up.

If you're stuck at the calibration screen after a hard reset, how are you able to receive calls? Surely the reset hasn't completed?!?
Also, if you have reflashed to the original ROM, and thats now stuck also, then it has least got the correct ROM image on the device, thus allowing you to return it for a replacement.
Still a little confused about how you're able to use it at all though...
i honestly though it wierd myself. after flashing back to the original rom. at the calibration screen if i slide out the keyboard, press the talk button , close then reopen the keyboard, it lets me dial out using the number keys on the keyboard.
I can actually make out the home page behind the calibration screen as the screen reorientates itself.
edited Well I've no idea what just happened but the screen just stared working again out of the blue. My dog jumped on the bed n stepped on it ant the cursor moved. Very weird. Damn I'm lucky. lol Thanks for the input guys. Lets just hope it doesn't happen again XD

I agree, sounds like a loose connection somewhere
Could be grit between the screen and frame
One of my friends had an XDA Orbit and he had this problem. It turned out it was a crumb or piece of grit wedged between the frame of the phone and the screen causing the screen to be permanently pressed at that point. He used some fine implement (maybe a pin - can't remember) to dig it out. If this was the problem with your phone that may explain why it suddenly started working viz the bit of grit became dislodged by itself.
Cheers,
Ashley

[Q] Screen sensor bug. Please help

Hello,
After a month of using Note, I take the bug, that make device unusable. Touch screen press themselves, without of contacting of my fingers in the left bottom corner (near button 'z' on screen keyboard). And it become more and quickly.
But this problem have the "solve": when I connect the phone via usb and charge it, bug falling away. But if I disconnect, they return.
I try a lot of roms and kernels, but problem have not solved.
In the program "Multitouch vis test" i find that sensor take pressure in pixels placed 1108-1109 y and 95-120 x coords. So, maybe I can stop processing of touch sensor in that rect? How can I do that and can I do that at all?
Maybe charging let the screen sensor to be less sensable? Can I do this via programm (or kernel)?
And I don`t understand is it the problem with screen sensor or usb?(usb module is mush sheaper).
Sorry for long thread and bad English.
Thanks in advance, Giggsoff

Maybe you can try this and this
Thanks for links, but it don`t solve problem.
I record video, with my phone. May be it describe my problem

Just saw your video.
Looks really weird.
How long does this bug exist? From the beginning?
your sensor is very sensitive
I got that after month of using (two weeks ago) when playing "Order & Chaos Online", or maybe I start notice that. In the bottom right corner of screen (in landscape orientation) the button, that mean fire, was located. So I press it fast. But I get massages "select the target" when I don't press any key.
I was in hospital, when I notice problem, and it didn't falling away, when I connected the charge. But when I back home, connect there phone to charge it is disappeared. I mean, that it was result of my operations (I open the phone and clean, reinstall os), but it was only because I had connected the phone. Now, I try to use S-Pen, cause it lock touch screen, but it's hard and don't a way out. So I am going to return the phone. It's hard, because I am an international buyer - from Germany to Russia. Intresting thing - when I open my box I see, that on charge was words in Russia (maybe cause in it )
It's going crazy
Returning it back is a good solution, I think.
It's definitely a hardware problem.
Ok, thank you. I will do it next week. Sadly lose that amasing phone for a month or longer, but I shall have to do it.
When I had returned my old Galaxy S it just took 10 days until I got it back, so let's hope the best

Wierd Stuff

K have a AT&T Note 3 MJ5 baseband version. Well one day while sending out a text, the menu kept popping up. I closed the message app out and still the menu for the home screen continued to pop up. I checked the accessibility setting and everything looked fine. But every app i open the menu or the haptic feedback continues checked or not checked. So i rooted and installed safstrap and install several different roms but still the same thing. Its really bad when the keyboard is pulled up to send a text or write an email and also when its on the charger fully charged the device works great, but once its unplugged and a little bit of the battery is use this thing goes nuts. Stuff just popping on its own. Anyway thanks in advance for any input. Thanks million.
It sounds like your capacitive menu button is constantly being pressed. Has the screen been replaced by any chance? I'd revert it back to stock and have it exchanged for a new one.
Thanks 440bro for replying, to answer question is no, as far as i can tell it has never been wet nor dropped to the effect that it would cause all this wacky stuff. Most of the time when i have the keyboard up for texting n emailing, the menu pops up n down or ill have to hit the return key. But as long as i have it plugged in charging or the battery is 100% it is useful. I'll make a short video and post it some time today i hope, Thanks 440 for the input

I asked if your screen was replaced because the menu button is a very thin ribbon cable attached to the screen. Someone who's not careful could cut, or damage this part when replacing the glass. If it was pinched it could act like it's constantly being pushed. Maybe your phone was assembled on a monday morning by someone who was hung over and damaged it lol!
Even if you aren't the original owner I would walk up to an att store and ask for a replacement since it's still a new device.

Do you have a protector that over laps the top edge of the display? It is possible the lip on the protector is actually extending into the contact area of that button and causing it to think it is being pressed. If you have a protector or bumper of some sort, remove it and see if you still have the problem.

Revert it back to stock. Make sure there's no custom padlock symbol. You'll be able to swap it at an at&t dsc center no problem!
Sounds good thanks for the help 440

Glad to hear they swapped you. Thanks for reporting back!
I swapped a Note 2 that I'd upgraded from. For some reason it kept getting the black screen of death (basically locking up). I reverted it back to stock and removed root. Had NO issues even though it was upgraded to 4.3 before I rooted it. No Knox trip or Custom status.
And thats a weird and to spell wierd?
After working in a sprint repair center for many years I saw this issue with the Galaxy S2 line constantly. An lcd replacement fixed it up.

S Pen not working

After I accidentally inserted the S Pen backwards, but later on managed to remove it successfully, the S Pen is not working.
It can still be detected, ie triggering Air Command or screen off memo, when I was removing it whilst it was stuck, but after it was removed it does not trigger the Air Command, and the worst part is it does not interact with the phone in anyway, not even as a stylus. :crying:
I only got it for a few days, and really hope you guys can help me solve this issue. If not I will send it for repairs and hopefully get it fixed for free or low cost.
Hi,
I have a similar problem after accitaly insert in wrong way.
The S pen work, but there is no detection anymore.
I had to remove every detection in settings, but I still have some notification about S pen removed.
(you can trigfer air commands by double click S pen bouton)
I would like to know if someone did repaire the sensor?
There is a switch inside the phone which you have broken by yanking out the pen after it was inserted the wrong way. There are videos on YouTube that explain it in detail.
Yes.
I would like to know if someone did repaire this switch, in a Samsung repair station?

spen working method
You can actually use the spen by going into settings, spen, and than turn off S pen power saver mode
My spen first began to get less and less responsive, i.e. I had to push hard for it to interact with the screen, and now it completely stopped interacting with the screen.
no idea dafuc is going on!
My phone won't detect my pen. It works though
I got mine stuck, removed it by inserting a bit of paper and now it doesn't work and it doesn't detect lol. fail.

First try to.change you tip with a spare one from the box. If the problem remains do a software reset . If none of this solve your problem then search with google for spen sensitivity. There is a metod to fix this problem.

Before you do resets or return it, restart it and if that doesnt help do the volume up + PWR button for 5 secs when the phone is on. If neither of these work open up the SIM card port and above the sim card slot there is a white button, get a pin or something and hold it for a few seconds. If this also doesnt workdo a reset via PC Companion and lastly if this does not work just go back to the shop and tell them whats happening and they will probably give you a new one if its only been 4 days

@lastsamuraial
Try these to see if your proximity sensor is working or not.
1) Dial this in your phone dialer:
*#*#7378423#*#*
This will take you to service stuff. Next, go to:
Service tests > Proximity switch
Move your hand or anything over the sensor which is located to the right of "SONY" on the front of your phone. It should go "On" when it detects something and "Off" if it doesn't.
2). Another test you can do is found at:
Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Ear Proximity
This will also test your sensor.
Thanks to all for your help, but i send it back and a new one is coming.
You can also use Z-Device Test from the Play store to test just about everything on your phone.
