Ive had my HTC Diamond for a few days now and love it!
When I receive a call I can hear the ringtone play but when i answer the phone I cannot hear the person calling via the earpiece. I have to goto loud speaker to hear them and then its really loud.
Am I supposed to hear a voice via the ear piece and if so any ideas on what I can do to ge tit working?
Many thanks.

Just checking, did you remove the original protective plastic layer that came with the phone?
Yes I removed the screen protector that came with the phone in its original state.
I then stuck on the more permanent protector that came with the phone where the cutout whole fits exactly around the earpiece speaker - so I dont think it can be that which is the problem!?
Thanks for replying but I wonder if its just broke?
Just spoken to Orange Customer Care and a replacement handset is turning up tomorrow. Seems like it is broke!
Also it was lucky I rang because they hadnt give me the unlimited internet access that I thought I had signed upto. They had only given me free weekends and were trying to sell me bandwidth at a price! Luckily they changed my tarriff to the free unlimited bandwidth tariff! Yippee!

(lets hope this one is better!)
Hi,
While calling people there have been several complaints that my voice is very low while on the phone has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
Yes, a little bit, then I carry on talking and the other party manages to cope. I was assuming my case may play a little part in the problem, even though there is a small pin hole where the mic is.
My case is the official HTC One flip case... You?

Yes it's the same flip case. hmmm. I wonder if there is a way of improving it.
funny I dont get this even though the case covers the mic at the bottom of the phone.
I mentioned on another thread that there is a fault with every double dip flip case. The mic hole doesn't line up with the mic properly!

Dam. Might have to buy a new case.
The thing is I can see that the hole perfectly lines up with the hole from what I can see.

The case I am referring to with the issues is the flip case and NOT the one with three parts.

Try to record your own voice with inbuilt recorder app than play and see. Check if you have case which covering Mic? Try to see if any residuel trap inside the mic hole try to use vaccume cleaner to suck from both Mic. Or try to talk with customer service number and talk very softly and ask if operator can hear your voice properly?, restart the phone and do the same and check if anything improved? Try to record your voice using camera and check. Hope this all step help

I'm having the same problem, I have narrowed it down to being the bottom mic, When in a call, using speaker phone the back mic is on and people can hear me. When headphones are in again, people can hear me, again though the back mic. But when I take out the headphones, and turn speaker off, people can't hear me, unless I'm talking directly into the bottom mic, but words get cut short. Hearing what it sounds like I'm thinking it's noise canalization going on..

Having the same exact problem. Using the voice recording app - the volume of a recording using the bottom mic is woefully low compared to using a headset to record.
When using the speaker to answer calls - doesn't exibit this behavior as bad due to the other external mic.
Everyone that is calling me is complaining that they can barely hear me and I think it has nothing to do with the carrier, but all to do with the phone.
My partner's phone is also doing this. Every time she answers a call the other person can't hear her and she almost has to yell. She does have the HTC Genuine case but I've tested calls without this on and still the same thing.
It is the Silver 32GB HTC One ordered through Handtec.
I guess you're talking about the official case which can hold up the phone like the case comes with GSIII ?
I saw two thread complaining the same issue in another forum. However, I have a similar case (but not THIS case) and don't have this problem.
why put on case on HTC One? geez
(Don't mean to troll)

e: it was a noise cancellation + hole blockage deal for me. seems alright now
I just tested mine and I can hear myself loud and clear.
people I call tell me it's like I am sitting next to them when I call

I have had other people tell me they can hear me, and I would move the phone and then they would say I'm perfectly clear.
I'm talking moving it a couple inches farther from my mouth. But then speakerphone works fine. I happen to believe it's cancellation taking us out as well.
I have noticed now on several occasions that when i am on a call the person on the other end sounds distorted.
Music through the speakers seem fine its just when listening through the ear piece it sounds bad..
anyone else had this?

If its an issue man, take it back to store where you bought it and demand a replacement.
i have a replacement on the way due to some build quality issues on this one but wondered if this was known to be a problem also.
Hopefully the replacement one will not be one of the early ones that seem to be rushed out the door.
I'm interested to see if other people with the 2014 Moto X are noticing the same thing or if I got a particularly loud one... I've got a pure edition. It feels like every time I get a text or call the buzzing noise from the phone is way louder than any phone I've owned previously.
I'll look into turning down the intensity of it with root (if that can be done later), but curious to hear you guys' thoughts.
Thanks!
I feel mines is just right for me, smooth, just the right of power inside a sturdy body where as my N5 is too weak and my 2013 X is loud and could shatter a window. Yours could be a little loose or it just might be you're use to other devices.

Thanks for the reply... Yeah, I came from the LG G2 and the Nexus 4 before that. Neither just seemed to be nearly as loud or rattle-y. Since I use the vibrate function basically exclusively over an audible notification, I wanted to get a feel for other's experiences.

Mine feels incredibly cheap! In fact it's my number one complaint, there is no vibration really, just a high pitched whirring that sounds like something is tearing itself up inside.

Yep... number one here as well, and it sounds like yours is similar to mine. Shoot! I was hoping for a one off. I'm gonna run into a few AT&T stores this week to see if they have any Xs out on display. Hopefully seeing a few others will let us know if it's a widespread thing or not.

You need to get that checked out, like go to a store and compare another X to yours. It sounds like yours may be defective.
My 2014's vibration is nearly identical to my 2013's in both strength and sound.
I've had several people complain about the quality of my calls since getting the Note 4. I mainly use the speaker phone and it seems that it's very picky on positioning to work perfectly. Sometimes people say they can't hear me, sometimes they say there's a lot of echoing, it's pretty frustrating. I'm coming from a Moto X where I also used the speaker phone extensively and never got a single complaint. Anybody else notice this? Any tips?
No issues here I came from an s5 so call quality still the same for so far
Are you using any case? Are you certain all Mic holes and whatnot are absolutely uncovered?
Good point about the case my wife had a case that affected both call quality and signal
It's not the case, I have the one where the top and bottom mic holes aren't covered at all. The issue is specifically with the speaker phone, normal calls are fine.
Moved thread to Q&A where it belongs. Please post in correct sections, thanks.
