So, 2 months ago I sent my phone off to be repaired after being water damaged, they replaced the motherboard all was well. So Locked Bootloader, no root.
2 weeks ago my phone was simply sitting on my desk when it decided to power down (at 80%), nothing would bring it back (no signs of life). I tried plugging the phone in etc. So i sent the phone to get repaired again, and surprise surprise, it worked perfect for them no errors found.
Recently received my phone back from the repair shop, turned it on (power cord plugged into PC) worked fine until i went into play store where the phone died completely again., tried hard restart, little yellow square restart button etc etc. Following advice from another forum I left my phone charging for 12 hours (no lights / vibrations) with no luck.
A couple of minutes ago i tried (because why not) to power it on, while unplugged it booted up fully, at this stage i saw it was at 13% battery and have it currently charging, with the amber light on and phone operational. Although i am still worried that going back into play store will crash it again.
Any ideas on what this is or how to resolve it?

Howdy,
So I flashed my phone to cm4.2 last weekend and everything has been quite dandy. But I now I have a problem, and I kind of doubt its from the cmod because that was a week ago and this problem happened yesterday...
Yesterday I was talking on the phone until the battery died. Then I rushed to my charger and plugged it in. I tried to turn it back on but it would not. It goes to the G1 screen then to the CM boot animation screen then the screen turns BLACK! IT will not stop doing this. I have to keep pulling out the battery. Last night I even pulled out the SIM and battery for a few minutes. Then put them back and tried again. Same result. I charged it fully last night (while off) thinking that might help. This morning after the LED light was green I tried again to reboot the phone.. Also sometimes the phone will do this reboot sequence after I plug the charger in, but it still goes to the blank/black screen... awww..
I am really hoping I do not have to wipe the phone and start over again with my apps and stuff because I have not really found a great free backuper and have not backed up within the last few days. I can use home+end call button to get to the bootloader (right name?) screen. However I am REALLY hoping I do not have to wipe.
Any solutions? I tried searching but could not find an answer..
THANKS!! This is basically terrible timing too because I leave on vacation tomorrow morning and will be needing my phone.
Got the phone just over a year ago so it's just out of warranty.
The phone recently started turning off, forcing me to remove the battery in order to restart it. This occurred when I turned the screen off (power button) and left it off for more than about 20 seconds. This was obviously a massive pain in the ass, so I decided to s-off, root, then put custom firmware on it.
So I plugged it into the computer and was just downloading all the required bits, and I got a phone call. I picked up, talked for a bit, then when I hung up I instinctively turned the phone screen off. I then left it for about half an hour until the downloads were done (HTC Sync downloading at 40 kbps >.<) and then went to turn it back on. Of course it had offed itself.
So I went to pull the battery out and do the usual -- to no avail. I tried outing the battery, plugging it in, then putting the battery back in (as read from a random Google result) and nothing.
TL;DR:
Here's the status:
Phone began doing the seemingly standard random turn-offs that require a battery loop.
After a week or so of this, the phone stopped coming back on.
And it will not give any sign of life (No vibrates, no lights when plugged in, no PC response)
Phone has never been dropped / watered
Tried different leads / USB - power adapters
Battery was at about 80-90% at the time of offing forever.
Tried with SIM Card in and out
Tried with MicroSD card in and out
Is this **** bricked? I wanted to wait for the Edge to come out before I upgraded; I don't want to end up with a Sensation or something.
Any fixes?

Sounds like your phone just died.
Another explanation is you have something loose, you should open it and check .

I'll take it in the an Optus shop today and start yelling abuse, maybe that will get it fixed. Worked on my old Legend. If that doesn't work, I'll open it up and have a look.
Yelling didn't work, they just tried out the phone on all their chargers and it failed.
So I'll open it now.
OK here's a picture of the USB charger bit. I can't post external links, so I'll attach it.
It looks okay... is this what I should try replacing? The USB thingy?
BTW, I unplugged everything then plugged it all back in, so nothing's loose.
Hey Andrew, I sent you a PM.
Struggling with the same problem...
Just made a call from my phone. After the call the phone seemed to be stuck on the call screen. I didn't think anything of it and left the phone alone. When i tried to use the phone again, there was no screen and the phone was not responding. I tried to re-start the phone by pulling out the battery but it won't switch on. You people seem to have the same problem. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Just a suggestion, but have you tried removing the battery and powering on with the charger connected?
I guess this would help resolve whether it's a battery/charger issue.

I have a similair issue i was flashing a rom and my phone decided to turn off or was restarted by the rom update utility and never came back on now i tried it connected to a regular power charger and usb to my laptop and it wont recognize anything. battery was fully charged when i was flashing the rom can the incredible s power on with no battery? and if mine can't and wont be recognized by pc is it toast?
hello my friend, recently i got my phone out of my pocket. i realized it was off. i tried to turn it on but nothing, then i pressed the off button on the back and it went on. stayed on for a couple of minutes, then the it frozen, the screen faded and it went off again. i left it the whole following morning charging, when i came back it turned on, stayed on for a couple of minutes (a little bit more of the previous time) then again same thing. if i charges it has a red light (sign that it is charging) if i disconnect the charger and try to switch it on it flashes 3 red light then it stops, and then again three red lights. i tried to charge it via computer but it wont be recognized, i also tried volume up and power button, volume down and power button, and the off button on the back. at the service center they say it cannot be fixed because it is out of warranty since the screen as been replaced by unofficial service. after a bit of charging it turned on today, but soon went off. i need help, i would at least want to know what the issue is. thanks a lot. ps. i can manage to let it work
Maybe try using flashtool to flash software. Don't wipe anything except maybe cache or so. See if that works

i flashed an old backup a few days ago, this backup used to work really well but i have been having this issue since more than a week and it gave me the same problem also with this backup. now i have wiped the chache via cmw. i will wait untill the phone gets to 50 percent of battery, then try to use it without the charger. i'll keep in touch

i wiped the chache . it worked for a couple of hours, then it went off. now when i try to charge it it shows no signs of life at all. does someone know if this could be a hardware issue? like the battery or something
I have 3 Droid 4 phones. Phone 1 I got from Verizon. Phone 2 I got when Phone 1 lost it's digitizer mind. Phone 3 I got off ebay as a backup phone. Phone 3 became my primary phone that I used all the time. I got Phone 1 repaired and it became my backup phone. Phone 2 stopped doing anything. One day it worked fine, the next day it would only charge a battery and show the green LED, it wouldn't turn on, and as of 2 weeks ago, it won't even do that. I have several batteries and tried swapping out batteries, none of them turn on the phone or even get the LED to light up. I put it in a box and forgot about it until this morning.
Last night I set the alarm to go off on my Primary phone. it had 15% charge. When I got home I put in on my lapdock to charge. This morning my husband woke me up, I"d overslept because the phone was dead. I thought that was odd because the lapdock has never failed to charge a D4 before. I checked it and it was fully charged. I pulled out my backup phone, loaded the SIM and SD cards and life went on. This afternoon I started troubleshooting the dead phones. Lapdock charges the backup phone perfectly. I pulled the battery out of the primary phone and loaded it into the backup phone. 0% charge. I charged it up to 30%, and while I waited I put the backup phone battery that works and has a 30% charge into the primary phone. Nothing happened. Tried the Power + Vol Down reboot trick, nothing. Plugged the primary phone into my laptop and the lapdock, nothing happened. And when I say nothing, I mean no lights, no green LED, no screen flashes, no moto logo, nada. It's like I'm trying to get a phone to turn on when there is no battery present. So I pulled out the other phone, the one that wasn't working before, and realized they both are dead in the same way. it's like neither one is getting power. All my d4's are stock, i haven't gotten around to rooting them to run SpiritFM yet. I will be ordering a few new batteries. I"d like to give one of these phones to my little brother, if I can get it to work. My questions are:
Is this type of power failure common on the D4s or am I just unlucky with these phones?
Is this a hardware malfunction?
Is there anything I can do to attempt to resusitate these 2 D4s?
Is there a way to charge the batteries without using the D4 to do it?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
My phone suddenly stopped working a couple of months ago. It would not turn on or charge, neither connect to a computer.
I left it a service repair shop, they said it was firmware - I did not approve the service, and they returned the phone in working condition - I guess they opened up the phone and disconnected and reconnected some flex cables.
So the phone was working, and another day, I drop it on the floor. Nothing broken from the outside, but the phone was dead again, same problem: not turning on or charging.
Left in a service repair shop again (a different one this time), this time they said it needed a battery replacement, but because of the pandemic they didn't have one to replace it, so the phone was returned. And again, in working condition.
So it was working for a couple of weeks, when finally, out of the blue.. stopped working. Dead, not turning on or charging. But I didn't give it up, and tried from time to time to put in a charger...
And there I was, with the phone not charging, no led, no nothing. But I drop it on the floor (tried to come out of mute on the conf call I was in), and boom: phone is back! It's charging now, back to work.
So I assume there is something on the hardware that is making my phone dead. Is there anyone that have worked on phones that could know? Is it the battery? Is it the battery cable?
And it stopped working again. There seems to be some loose part inside, so I will open it up when the tools arrive from AliExpress, and will glue / check every connector.
do y find any solution? my mi9 stop working days before and it doesnt open
