Working Root for ZE550KL/ZE551KL 1.16.40.763 / 1.17.40.1106 (not tested on ze551kl)

Hello all zenfone laser ze550kl/ze551kl lovers
As I posted yesterday, I have gain root access to new version .
In order to gain root access for this version, I unlock bootloader with official release of ze551kl unlock toolkit.
Since we have unlock bootloader, so we do not need to patch system file in order to gain root access.
xposed framework version78 patched released by @Shakalaka working well, xposed modules were not working properly in previous version.

In order to gain root access
update your firmware to latest version,

unlock your bootloader by using any official unlock bootloader

connect your phone as usual, run commands to get in fastboot mode
then use command

fastboot boot boot_200007.img
(as image file have name boot_20007).
let process complete & phone will restart automatically.
Now you have working root for this version.

As after bootloader unlocked, we can use fastboot boot command.
Only thing we needed is search for similar working device with & port that for our device.

Yes! At least it's working for me. I've removed system apps, and so far I've been able to under and overclock the device(as far as I can tell)

to apply new update you should completely unroot & flash stock boot, otherwise you may get error.
If you loss your root, then we may try again for that version.

Chance to Android One

I have a question. Is it possible migrate to Android One? I read there is Moto X4 Fi version using Android One, so I don't if it is possible to change the rom on "normal" version

I used this image: PAYTON_FI_OPW27.57-25-2_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Download this file and extract both image and adb to the same folder.
Install Motorola Device Manager.
Now, boot your phone into fastboot, just turn it off and press volume down + power, connect the USB cable and execute the script.
The image are already on Oreo, the script contains instructions to erase userdata, even so, do a hard reset after flashing the phone.
Worked fine here, but do at your own risk.

Thank you! I'll keep this in mind.. Unless it has some interesting ROMs I think I'll keep it stock.. I hope Oreo will come soon here for the europe variant

No, the bootloader remain locked, probably you'll recebe updates, I'm waiting january patch to see.

I just flashed this on my European XT1900-7 and it is working ok.
Although, unfortunately IMS-Services such as VoLTE and VoWiFi (WiFi-Calling) are disabled in this Project-Fi ROM
They are unchecked when opening test menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer.
Anybody has a clue on how to get this working?

Hi, I didn't received any ota updates, I think it's because of the software channel, mine is retbr.

What are the advantages of Android One?
How is the battery life?
The only thing I could find is the AntuTu score, more than 85k points.
That's a huge improvement...

I Have the same problem with my Moto X4 (XT 1900-4), i did flash Android One and all OK, but the software channel is "opencl" . Any idea to change this?

I got..but it have calling issue...u can't either call anyone or received..But using #jio4Gvoice u can solve this prob..as well as It doesn't have wireless sound system option

Rooted 2.09 or 1.15 ?

Hi,
I am currently running the RM3 with the US version of the ROM which is 1.11.
The phone has unlocked bootloader and is rooted.
If I try to update it, it fails...
I tried to install a clean 1.11 so no more root.
I then updated the phone and it succeeded.
But I can't root the phone as I don't have the boot.img...
Anyone kknows where to donload the update or the full zip of the 1.15 US or the 2.09 EU ?

But that comes with a cost : taking the boot.img out of that file, root it with Magisk manager and then flash it does not result in a rooted phone
So it seems with that update, Nubia forbids the rooting of the phone
Or did I do something wrong ?
It worked like a charm with 1.11...

I did flash that...
But the thing is : even though I have enabled USB debugging and allowed my computer, I can't flash easily.
I need to "sudo" fastboot flash...
Maybe that is the problem ?

Updating and preserving root
Here's a tool which might help you, I've never used it but I'm curious to see if it works on the Red Magic 3 because I think that it'd really improve the experience.

I'd love to return my P20 Pro to stock status, which means: lock the bootloader (I have the code), flash the original not modified firmware, wipe everything from the internal storage.
What is the proper (and easy) way to do it? Right now, my installed firmware seems to be frankenfirmware, since the update process didn't finish properly, so I probably need to reflash the full stock firmware.

Hello, the best way would be to use service rom from androidhost.ru and put it in dload folder on otg flash disk. Than just turn off phone and hold power+up+down buttons at the same time, it should update to stock and relock your bootloader

Did you get your device back to stock? I am also looking to return mine to stock. Do i have to do it with the OTG cable or can i do it though TWRP using

Since you are unlocked you have a few options. You can either download and sideload the same OTA via adb in recovery, or you can fastboot flash the full factory image. You could also d/l the full image, extract the boot.img and try fastboot flashing that first.

Sure. Read THIS first. Then go HERE to d/l the correct image for your phone. There are instructions on this page as well. You can also access the OTA images (with instructions) from the menu on the left. Good luck.
EDIT: to avoid confusion, you want to use the OTA images for recovery. Use THIS LINK and read the instructions carefully.
EDIT 2: Make sure you have the very latest adb/fastboot binaries from HERE.

You really can't update via stock recovery without using a pc to side load it through adb. Might as well be full stock with a locked bootloader to take the OTA :good:

Apparently you did not read the instructions in the OTA link above. Without a PC or laptop properly set up with adb/fastboot you cannot fix your phone. A rescue OTA via adb may not even work, so you need to be prepared to flash a full image. Not that difficult but it does require a laptop or computer. You are very lucky your phone is unlocked.

Sure.... Please go back and read my post above, including the links I already provided to you. Step-by-step directions are given there by Google on the OTA download page, those and are all you should need. There are also devoted guides you can find by searching "OTA via adb" or "rescue OTA". I also provided a link above for the latest adb/fastboot binaries. Let's see what you can do! :good:

Dude! Where do you live and what carrier are you using?? At this point I'm going to advise you to STOP what you are doing. You need to READ several tutorials FIRST and get familiar with how to properly flash your phone.
