I got my Note 4 yesterday and was trying to connect my car radio (Jvc Kw-V50BT). The phone connected, but when trying to connect the media part of the phone it just doesn't want to connect. I had a LG G2 prior to this phone and it worked fine. I checked JVC and it should work with Bluetooth 2.0 and up. This is baffling my mind right now. I might have to factory reset my phone and try it that way. Any help would be appreciated.
No problems here I use my Ford touch and everything is fine

If it still doesn't work...try another BT source.
Works better with my Ford Touch than any phone previously.

Try reseting your radio... not sure how you do that with your model. Make sure you delete the old pairing.
bt 4.0, which most newer phones have, is very touchy about what it works properly with; I have a bad time trying to stay connected to my vivosmart garmin band, but pairing to my car and plantronics headset works 100% of the time.
my wife has a G3, and has the same issues; some things work 100% of the time, and some others only work occasionally
A2DP Issues
I just got my Note 4 yesterday, and am definitely experiencing some (admittedly minor) issues with A2DP in my Honda CR-V EXL 2012.
When playing music over Bluetooth, I experience the infamous "Galaxy S5 intermittent half-second skip". Also, I have noticed that when playing an album or playlist, if the screen on the phone is off the currently playing song information will not update.
For example:
I am listening to "Gimme More" by Britney Spears on the album Blackout.
"Gimme More" ends, and the next track "Piece of Me" comes on.
The car screen will continue to show "Gimme More' unless I use the forward or back buttons from my steering wheel or dashboard to manually change songs.
This causes the screen to update to "Piece of Me"... albeit with a brief delay.
Very odd...

I finally got it too work, but I had to get an app to help me out. I think it was called Bluetooth Manager or something. I forced it to accept the media and got it working. I was getting frustrated when even a factor reset didn't help.
Yes, I have the stuttering too on my Note 4. What can I do about it?
Note 4 note; note, Bluetooth.

This may not help but.. Got my Note 4 four days ago; had the Note 3. 3 Had 0 problems with Bluetooth; 30 ft. through walls, drops rare, auto connected to my car while I was in the house. Note 4 range 15 feet,, constant drops and fails to connect. Hoping to get another 3 or 4 from T-mobile but that has not happened yet. I'm good carrying both. The 4 makes calls (although the speaker is a downgrade. The 3 connects to all my stuff. just like the old days at work. :fingers-crossed:
This is what I'm using. No issues.
It's not super new. Just a decent deck. But, the rule is the newer the better with flagship phones:
Not sure if this is related or not - I have an open thread about blue tooth streaming issues with my car...
What I have found so far -
My car (2012 Subaru STi) has two methods to pair a blue tooth device... entering the setup through the steering wheel is the only way to save a device for auto connect and play, entering the setup through the head unit lets you save and select a phone to pair, but you must select pair each time you get into the car. If you do option #2, I have the call audio and media boxes always unchecked. - see if your car has a different method for primary user/secondary user blue tooth set up
and secondly, my main issue was that while listening to spotify my radio head unit would say BT-Audio Paused out of nowhere, when in fact, the spotify track still shows playing and the song is progressing.
after lots of troubleshooting I think this may be an issue to spotify itself and not my phone (I am now testing Pandora/other streaming media to see if they do the same interment freeze/odd stuff)
I've also been having problems with Bluetooth devices connected to my Note 4. Previously, I had been using an iPhone 6 and I didn't have any issues with these devices. Now, I'm experiencing connection problems with my Jawbone UP24, my Plantronics headset, or my Jaybird stereo earbuds, and other devices. Once I reboot my Note 4, the BT connection is usually back. But, sometimes I have problems even after I've rebooted the Note 4. If I power cycle my BT peripheral, I'm usually OK as well.
So - my question is: could it be possible that some of my Bluetooth peripherals (like my Jawbone UP24) may be causing some type of interference? Or, do I have faulty hardware?
Older Bluetooth Devices always seem to be hit or miss on the newer Samsung devices that have been coming out. May be its age being the factor, lol. :silly:
Morning.
I am having a problem with my note 4 edge and my car stereo. Here is a little background.
I have a 2012 Subaru STi with the stock stereo and Bluetooth capability. When I had a note 2 there were *zero* issues with the device automatically connecting when I got into the car and resuming where I left off.
When I traded my phone for the note 3, I lost the auto paring feature and had to go to my stereo every time I turned the car on and select my device. ( I did lots of trouble shooting here... stock, rooted, un rooted, different ROMs) and no mater what, I could not auto pair. Additionally, there were often times where in order to play a call through the stereo I had to go to the phone, select Bluetooth settings, select pair voice with car.
Soo it is time to get a note 4. I figure it cannot be any worse than going from a note 2 to the note 3. Boy was I wrong!
The note 4 does not auto connect either.
I use spotify for streaming the music and have the files downloaded locally to the phone. Without rhyme or reason, the music will simply stop playing and my car will show "BT-A (blue tooth audio) Paused as if I hit the pause button on spotify. When I look at the phone, the song is still playing without issue and is not paused as far as spotify is concerned. I then have to hit the back or next track song to resume playing music.
it is very random.. for example, 5-10 seconds into a song it stopped and did this about 10 times. The drive home yesterday would let me get about halfway through a song before this, and the day prior would always freeze a the end of a song.
I have reinstalled spotify, factory reset the phone without any luck.
I know the next step for trouble shooting is to start trying different media sources and comparing (holidays/work have made that hard).
has anyone had issues with their note 4 and their car stereo? I will likely just be buying a new stereo because this is starting to be frustrating.

Was there a change from functionality from the note 3 to note 4 regarding Bluetooth? If the autopairing is the issue, I understand that. However, once connected, I cannot figure out why it hiccups and stops.

Interesting. Man this was unexpected! Thank you very much for your info. I guess I figured this was not a Bluetooth generation issue since it still pairs when I manually do it.

so many changes it not worth buying a head unit cause you still gonna need to modify the phone with the new files as long as it does not need new hardware. if your note 3 worked maybe see if a dev is willing to downgrade ur bluetooth or teach ya what you need to move around.

Well I think a new head unit is in the future regardless, the STi is fast but lackluster with comfort features such as sound. Would it be safe to assume that any mid-top shelf head unit would be compatible? I have looked at a few, they do not seem to state a Bluetooth version with them.
I may just go toy around with some at the store and decide from that.

Have you tried using your phone with another bluetooth device example a bluetooth speaker etc?...The reason I ask is I have hands free bluetooth with my 2014 Nissan Titan, it worked fine with Note 3 I had previously, connected with no issues but when I received the Note 4 for some reason it would disconnect from bluetooth. I than decided to pair my wireless bluetooth speaker I use to listen music from my phone and it didn't work. So I had to get a replacement Note 4 as bluetooth was the issue on the Note 4 as it didn't work, so you might have the same issue.
Damn... i think you are right. Does the new note 4 work fine with your car? I jus thooked this up to my A33 bluetooth speaker and it does the same thing... cuts in and out, plays weird and not right. I already paid 25$ for the screen protector to be applied... im going to be pissed i have to return it.
Did you get a new device or refurb?

To throw another variable in the mix...
I have no issue with streaming Bluetooth Netflix to my Beats headphones... with spotify messing up with my car and blue tooth speaker, perhaps it is a spotify issue.
I will get another streaming app to test out.
How could it work with my headphones without issue, but not with other devices and result in a hardware problem for the phone? This is now making me think it is more likely an issue with spotify

And another thought!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnYFs6OpGGs
Shows some interesting ways to mess with my car's stock head unit. One of the comments mentions there are two ways to pair a Bluetooth device and only 1 is meant for the owner which includes auto connect. I am going to see if that is my issue and post back!
Anyone else haing issues here with bluetooth? I can connect to everything bluetooth, wireless speakers, car, headsets, watch etc. The only thing I can get to work reliably is the headset, everything else randomly cuts out or has issues. For example both cars have bluetooth for phone calls, one has bluetooth for media, I can get both to work for a short time but it either 1. Cuts out and reverts back to phone, freezes the system in the one car, or jumps back and forth between the 2. Similar results when connected to bluetooth speakers, can get it to work for about 10-15 minutes then nothing, phone shows it still connected and playing music but no sounds from speakers. LG G Watch R also randomly looses connection. I'm beginning to regret my switch from the S5.
Anyone having similar problems or a fix?? I really want to keep the phone but not sure I can deal with this flaw...........
I have no such issues with the bluetooth. I can tell you that I had bluetooth issues with one of my other android phones. I had to get it warranty replaced. My suggestion is that you get the phone replaced since its brand new.
Mine has been fine so far. I just wish that android was more like apple, as much as I hate to say that. Both my S6 and M7 will play phone audio fine when in a call, but to use maps I have to turn the radio to Bluetooth mode. Makes it kinda boring to ride with no radio just to get turn by turn nav.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
I haven't had any issues with my smart watch (moto 360) but I have had some weird issues with my car's Kenwood media deck. The phone will connect to the unit, but 75% of the time no sound will come from the speakers on the first try. Sometimes just waiting about a minute does the trick, other times I turn BT off/on and it'll work fine the 2nd time. However because I haven't had any issues connecting with my watch, ear piece, or laptop I am willing to bet it's it an issue with the Kenwood and not the phone.
Thanks guys. Don't want to have to warranty swap it but looks like that's going to be my first step.
I use BT at home daily for listening to music and netcasts. I have a couple of different BT speakers as well as the awesome Panasonic Link-to-Cell phone system for those who have dropped their home hard-wired phone lines. I also use BT constantly when I am in my car.
With my LG G2, BT connection was seamless and immediate, all the time, for years now. It connected to multiple devices as soon as I walked in the door and with my car audio as soon as I started my car.
With the N5, it always needs to be re-paired manually - especially at home where there are two devices waiting to pair with it as soon as I come home. It'll pair with the Panasonic phone, but when I select a speaker, the N5 disconnects from the Panasonic and then I have to re-pair with it. It will work once I spend a moment managing connections. In the car it often pares immediately, but sometimes not.
Another observation is that the N5's BT range is short, and it will drop if a line-of-sight gets interrupted momentarily.
In an attempt to fix, I have wiped the cache for both Bluetooth apps that come with the VZW N5 - that didn't help. Then, I wiped the system cache, also no dice. I wonder if this is carrier-dependent (I am on VZW) or something to do with older BT devices and the newer BT protocol that the N5 uses. I've read that the N4 has similar BT issues.
Overall, it's usable, but not as good as my old G2. Anyone else have these issues? Fixes??
This issue persists to this day. I can accommodate it with some manual intervention when I want to connect to my BT speakers.
Looking to get a BT 4.x speaker to see if it's just a BT version issue.
I only use Bluetooth in my car and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. Always connects as soon as I start the car and never drops the connection or anything. It syncs my contacts and everything just fine as well. I don't use Smart Lock however. Maybe try turning that off?

I think that's the case. For some reason samsung's 4.1 Bluetooth protocol is not backwards compatible. Ever since the s4 Bluetooth meta data has stopped working in my 2012 Mazda. Works fine with my N5 (nexus 5) and my LG G4. If I had to bet I think that's the issue with you. I could be wrong. Just thought I'd share.

Note 5 always works with my car, does not drop or anything but it has an unstable connection to my samsung gear circle headphones. I believe it is the 5.1.1 update, because they work with my wife's note 3 just fine and they used to work fine before the 5.1.1 update.
Did you ever resolve your issue? looks like some are successful after getting their device replaced and others are not and say the problem comes back. All seems to be related to the 5.1.1 update..

Thanks for writing. I found out that if I disable wifi, it connects a little better, though not as good as my wife's phone, Note 3 (my previous phone)
I tried to find ways to change the frequency it connects, but google was not helpful. Maybe some of the experts here could be helpful, I do not know.
Anyways, I tried to connect to our smart bulb yesterday. It would pair, but would never connect, wifi or not. On the other hand, the Note 3 connected to it immediately.
They keep updating the gear circle software but it is the phone fault, since gear circle is able to connect to my laptop from even another floor!
It's not the BT device... I have terrible luck with expensive purchases and my note 5 was no exception. I upgraded from a galaxy S relay (love keyboards) and about 1 month later my Bluetooth stopped working from all through my house to needing a DIRECT line of sight and max range of about 2 feet. Netflix, hulu, audible all pretty much useless with this issue.
I returned it and got a new one (not referbished) and I noticed a slight lag in key strokes. About 2 weeks go by and the bottom half of my screen is going haywire. Trying to scroll a Web page and it would click everywhere. Typing like I am now would result in 100s of extra letters I was never close to pressing. I returned it and got a referbished one and same thing... my 4th one which I'm using to type this just started doing the Bluetooth thing and I'm so mad.
It's not the Bluetooth device because I tried my old Plantronics I used for 5 years, my new Plantronics, my car, and these weird speakers that have water pumps in them and the issue was the same. I love this phone but it seems to hate me...

Quick question, do you have android 5.1.1 or 6? I still have 5.1.1 and thats when it started with the problems. It was all fine and dandy with android 5.0.
My wife has a Note 3 with 5.0 and the same headphones are just fine with it.
I have been waiting for android 6 to see if it works out.
My Note 5 upgraded itself to Android 6.0 and all my bluetooth problems are solved magically. I cannot believe how they can manage to screw up things for so many months and we have to wait for the new OS to have it solved. For Samsung Gear Circle none the less. I know I am not buying bluetooth watches or anything in case they screw up bluetooth again in an "update".
Which is your favorite color phone case?
After watching a few YouTube videos I now understand that the dual feature of the Note 8 Bluetooth has nothing to do with Bluetooth 5.
From what I've learned, Bluetooth 5 is simply a combination of Classic Bluetooth (2 & 3) coupled with Extended Bluetooth (high range with lesser throughput), which does NOT mean you can expect to crash n your speaker in the house from the garden.
In other words, for the DUAL Bluetooth feature on the Note 8, it would appear that there are in fact two separate BT reciever / transmitters.
Can anyone verify this?
Also, if this is true, how likely will it be that either a software update or an app will be able to take advantage of this, and split stereo channels to two separate Bluetooth speakers, thus giving true stereo sound in the home?

Why I don't know, maybe it does have two BT chips in it. I'm going to guess it does. The delay sucks though for sure.
Meh... I'll take any answer I can get at this point just get the discussion going. Can't believe this hasn't been a major discussion topic yet, and I can't find anything about what I'm asking on the web.
The delay can be remedied by changing placement of the phone between the devices. In other words, from what I've read / heard, no matter how different the two speakers are, there's a theoretical distance between each one that is the ideal placement for the phone where they'll be no lag between the two. I've done this in my own house. I relocated a small table in the foyer to get optimum placement between the dining room and living room speakers.
I have yet to try this with identical speakers to check if midway between them is ideal placement for the phone.

My problem isn't the latency it's the dang volumes. Even with the setting. Can't think of it as I haven't tried in a while. But one of my speakers are as quiet as can be the other is blazing loud. I could never get them to even nearly match...
Surely it's only got one Bluetooth chip just allows more than 1 connection.
No different than having your speakers and a watch connected at the same time 2.
Just 2 audio streams at once
What hasn't Bluetooth allowed more than once bt device gonna had before as long as they used different profiles
I have several speakers, and also two of the same model by the same brand, and until now, I could never get then to play at the same time.
Maybe I should just bitter the bullet and buy a system that splits the stereo channel between two speakers after.
Dual Bluetooth feature means that you can connect with two Bluetooth audio devices at same time and music on the phone will be played simultaneously on the both devices. Left audio channel on the first connected, Right audio channel on second connected.
Switch "Dual audio" via 3dots Bluetooth menu.
Only first device can control (pause/play/next/previos) phone's player.
There is no need both devices to be same brand/model.
Bluetooth version of devices is also not important.
All version are backwards compatible with previous versions. So if your phone is v5, first speaker v4, second v2, so all communications will be on v2.
Even v1 Bluetooth support up to 8 devices multiple (serial) connections. One phone connected to 7 others and gaming multiplayer (Nokia N-gage) . But just now manufacturer deside to make two (audio channels) connection.
ChoSmile, I'm failing to understand...
Are you saying they are already separated into left and right audio channels??
dual Bluetooth has nothing to do with channel separation; all it does is allow 2 devices to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth at the same time, listening to the same exact audio stream

I play music through poweramp to 2 phillips bt speakers that can connect together anyways. But it's a pain to connect them like that so I just connect them with the dual bt the phone uses. I know what your talking about with the delay so right away I figured out that after they are paired and music starts playing (delayed of course) I simply force close poweramp, go back in and hit play and..... No delay
I'm using 2x Sony Srs-XB10s which natively support stereo pairing themselves, and I dual audio to a Marley with a cheap iPod dock, bluetooth adapter.
There's a ~1s delay from the Sony's when they're in native-stereo mode.
There's ~0.3s delay when they're attached singularly over Bluetooth. This fluctuates, but usually grows to ~0.8s over 2 minutes, then resets.
It's upsetting the audio can't be delayed per-device manually.
I love the technology though and it excited me I could in theory have 5.1 with this solution (Marley is almost a 2.1) but alas it's not mature enough.
Keenly interested in the progress of this feature! Saves the manufacturer having to implement it, though Sony's, despite the bigger delay, is very very simple and obviously there's no delay between their own 2 speakers.
