Erisin ES2046B no sound & no iluminated led buttons - Android Auto General

Hi,
I bought an Erisin ES2046B HeadUnit in October and worked great until now.
It has no sound (Radio/Navigation/Bluetooth Phone) and the LED buttons does not light up any more. I did a restore to factory settings and double check the harnesses, but nothing changed.
Everything works except these 2 problems.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
PS: English is not my mother tongue.

I also have an Erisin head unit (2 DIN Android 4.2.2) and as of just a few days ago, there's no sound. Everything else seems to be working fine, but there's no longer any audio output.

1. Does your car has DPS or other external amplifier system? If yes, perhaps your unit does not support it.
2. you can check if *the "illumi"*wire of your unit is supplied with 12V power.

Anyone, please...!

You can ask for some help from the Seller. I believe they will help you solve those two issues.

Audio Out from Main Connector

I believe that there is audio available from pins 27 & 28 of the main connector but you have to place a resistor between other pins to get it to work.
Does anyone know how to go about this?
And is the audio at full level to drive headphones or is it low level?
And do the internal speakers get turned off when the main connector is used?
Any help would be appreciated.
I don't have one yet but the video cable (rca not hdmi cable) should output sound, I think it would be "low"volume tho
I have the rca tv out cable. What exactly do you need to know?
While.it is plugged in, speakers turn off and out put volume is controlled by volume button.

I have read in previous posts that connecting directly to pins 27 & 28 wont give you any audio out. Apparantly you have to put a resister between other pins to tell the Tab to output audio. This is what I'm not sure about. I have just ordered some plugs to do some testing from kineteka.com.
I want to make a lead that will charge the Tab & give me high level audio out.
I recently purchased an 30pin to RCA adaptor. Unfortunately it seems like my ROM (Paranoid Android 2.20) doesn't support it as it reboots the moment i connect it. Which ROM have you guys successfully used to for the RCA connector?

[Q] external DAC

Anyone using an external DAC? Does the Z3c provide enough power via USB to drive a DAC (I assume not) or is it necessary to use a self-powered DAC? I'd be in music heaven if my Meridian Explorer worked with the Z3
I just tried out my HRT microStreamer with the Z3 Compact but the volume wouldn't adjust down from max. I just emailed HRT to find out what the issue is as the microStreamer is designed to allow the host (Z3C) to manage the volume.
I also have the Meridian Explorer but, unlike the HRT microStreamer, I don't think the Explorer works on any smartphone without a separate power source. I'll test and update my post if otherwise.

You need to go into sound effects settings in the Walkman app and untick the box for "Hi Res audio via USB" This alows you to adjust EQ as well as volume via your phone.
I have a Fiio E18 DAC/Amp and it sounds great.

I too have the e18 which I love - but I have two issues using it with the z3c:
1) if I plug it in while the screen is on, I can no longer turn the screen off with the power button. Plugging it in while the screen is off though, prevents this from happening.
2) Once I unplug the e18, the phone gets stuck awake and drains battery. lookig in battery stats, the awake bar is solid, and "android system" starts taking up more and more % as the "keep awake" increases (i turn off screen for 5 seconds, and android system keep awake grows by 5 seconds). rebooting the phone unsticks this.
anyone else seeing this?

Hmm. I think we can conclude from that is that it's DAC specific. Have you heard back from Microstreamer?

1) Interesting. I never noticed but that also happens to me although I can live with that.
2) I havent had that problem but as you know, "Android System" could mean a whole range of things. Is your phone stock?
On another note, how do you tie it all together? The OTG cable is too small to have them back to back because of the Micro USB location on the phone. I have a 2m Micro to Micro cable but its just too big and I can't be doing with a multitude of adapters.

Yeah, #1 isn't too bad, I can live with that. Even #2 isn't *too* bad, I've just been restarting the system once I unplug the DAC. It does seem to be E18 related though, I can consistently get "awake" stuck on just by plugging in the e18, playing some music, and unplugging it. Whether I have "hi res audio over USB" checked or unchecked, whether I plug it in screen off or screen on, etc - it always goes into the "stuck on awake" as soon as I unplug the DAC from the phone. Strange - my phone is stock, unrooted, etc..
As for the cable, yeah - the one that came with the E18 is way to short, and I ended up getting a longer micro<->micro usb cable. WIthout it, I'd have to use the fiio and Z3C "inverted" and at a 45 degree angle to each other just to make it work, it wasn't very pretty, haha.

haha yes - I had to DIY it a bit using one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1099?gclid=CNHa7_q-3cECFY17fgodQ08ATg attached to the standard usb->microusb cable.
Oh and to answer OP - the fiio e18 works well as it powers itself by its own battery - but the alien Dac I have that powers itself from USB, does not work on the z3c. Strangely, it works on my HTC one m8 and iphone 5s..
Haha yes, I have a goody bag full of adapters and leads. It all just adds to the bulk. A 6-8inch Micro to Micro would be perfect.
The E18 is great bang for buck, charges your phone and I also use it as a Laptop DAC.

Got the Z3 Compact working with Fiio E10 but NOT the E10K (not enough current). All internally powered. The E10 is driving an old Sennheiser 565. It just works. And, of course, turn on the Hi-Res USB audio setting.
Note: I had to try a few USB cables until I got one that works. Don't know why.
Though not exactly a DAC, I have used the Sony PlayStation elite headphones with the rumble feature with the z1 compact, z2, and z3c. It uses a USB dongle of course and all the features including virtual surround and rumble work. I have a cheap $2 USB otg cable I purchased off of amazon.
Fiio E07K
Using a Fiio E07K. It has it's own power so doesn't have to rely on current from the Z3C. Have used it with the stock Walkman app and with USB Audio Player Pro with no problems.
I've tried the Audioquest Dragonfly 1.2 usb DAC. Works, but the intenal volume control of the DAC cannot be managed by the phone. Hence only 100% (nominal) output volume is supported, which renders my DAC useless when using it with IEM earphones (much too loud).
I have also tried the Dragonfly 1.2 on my new Z3 compact using the Walkman app. Same here
unable to adjust volume from the Z3
using a Y OTC USB cable. Plugging the charger cable into the female micro USB does not charge the phone
Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be? Phone, Walkman app, Dragonfly? Would be great if this could be fixed. It used to work flawlessly with my old Samsung S4 using USB audio player pro.
I got pioneer xpa 700 and my z3c, is it possible?

Pioneer xpa 700 is made for ios devices only, this amp is a badass i really like how its made... the design, the feature, its a customable amp, i do some research that z3c can drive this amp as an android, because z3c has a feature via "micro usb sound setting option". And now guys is it possibble that this amp xpa 700 is compatible with z3c as an android? Using the via "micro usb" sound feature?. i do really appreciate your response guys. Thnx all have a nice day

Static Noise with joying 5.1.1 double din vw radio

Hi,
I recently bought a Joying Radio for a VW, it is a 8" touch screen and so far seems to work, I only have a really annoying problem with the noise. When I am not playing any music, the speakers emit a static noise, the volume of the noise never changes even if I turn up the radio. Since I am not always listening to music, I would still like to fix the problem. I read and the Sticky thread something about ground loop noise, but could never find an explanation to it. Maybe someone of you can help me
Also my weather app doesn't seem to work, if someone has any ideas
Thanks in advance, if you need any other information for solving this problem, let me know
How loud is it?
A very low static sound is common on these units. I have it both of mine. As you noted, thankfully the volume of the static does not increase with the volume so I really don't notice it when music is playing.

You can try:
- linking the metal case of the unit to ground wire;
- shielding harness wires, as better you can

The noise is not that loud, you only hear it if you are not driving and have nothing playing.
Is the ground wire already included in the VW cabling so that I have to pull it out of the harness or do I have to run a cable myself?
As for shielding I assume I can just take some electrical tape or is there anything else recommended?
Thanks in advance!
Hi kaitzo,

Hey, thanks for the reply, I already noticed that when I pull out the radio cable the noise is gone, so I am gonne give shielding it a try If that doesn't work, I will try connecting the ground wire.
I'll let you know if it helped solving the problem

Yes, leaving the antenna unplugged solved the problem for me, since I will be listening to Spotify most of the time anyway it might be a solution. Nevertheless, I will try to fix it even with the Antenna plugged in. Trying the ground method next, as shielding didn't help. I also found that the VW connector and the antenna connector which was included with the car not join each other all the way, so it is always a bit loose, but even with force I can't completely join them. I will let you know if I succeed.
And??
And after all you find a solution??? I’m with same issue
Having Same Issue
Hello there,
Sorry to revive this thread a few months late, but I am having the same issue and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas to fix it. I installed a Ownice C500+ radio head unit into a 2015 Nissan Murano. Everything functions perfectly and works great - expect for one thing. Whenever the volume is on, there is a very faint staticky sound in the background. It never changes tones or volume. It just always stays at the same pitch and doesn't go away. Aside from turning the sound all the way off, the only time it doesn't do this is when I switch to the radio - then the hissing disappears and all is perfect again. But if I am playing music via USB/AUX/Bluetooth, etc, (or if I just have the volume on with nothing playing) the hissing noise is always there. It is faint and hardly audible, so during driving it is no problem. But if, for example, I am listening to a soft song while stopped at a red light - then I can hear it and it is annoying.
I have tried to change the amplifier gain in the head unit because I figured that is what is causing the noise. However, it does not seem possible in the Ownice unit. The sound equalizer does not have "gain" as an option to change, I checked into Advanced Settings as well, also tried engineer mode on Android unit, plus downloaded some equalizer apps but nothing has fixed it.
Any idea on what is causing this and what I can do to fix it? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thank you
Same here

I did find a solution that essentially makes the problem almost disappear. If you have an Ownice C500+ unit, go into Settings, enter 1260 as password to go to hidden settings, enter the volume area, make all of those values as low as they can possibly go. Some of those will be in the negative. When you reboot the system, the sound is essentially inaudible and that solves the problem.

the most obvious problem is a rustling metallic type rustling noise, which is heard when there is processing from a USB device, both pendrive and USB dashcam ... someone has had this problem, because it is very annoying

Volume too loud on lowest setting.

Ever since I installed my head unit I've been trying to figure out how to lower the volume below the lowest setting. It's way too loud even on the lowest setting. I've switched from the factory rom to Malaysk and the problem is still there. Even with all the volumes set on 1 it's just too loud to enjoy.
I've tried apps such as fine volume control with no luck. Does anyone know of a way to correct this? Perhaps editing one of the system files?

There, on Last tab, is also some option Amp or something. I'm not sure if it also controls global amplifier but you may try.

It sounds like it could be to do with the audio on your car - what car do you have and what sort of set up, do you have a factory amp for instance and if so how are you connecting to it ?
Malaysk solved the issue. Under factory settings (password 126) there's an audio tab where I was able to lower everything.

Didn't know Malaysk replied to your question in his thread.
Anyhow, this question is better to be here in general thread as it is not strictly related with Malaysk ROM. So other people could more easily find solution if they don't use that particular ROM.
Did you tried AMP option? I never get what it is for (changing that value does nothing for me - but I though on some other MTC type than mine KGL it may have some function).
What settings you are using now? I believe (if I understood Mal's Russian post correctly) he suggested to set all levels to 0. You did that? (of course I could try myself but I'm bit lazy and I'm not in car right now so I'll appreciate if you share your experience)

All MTCB head units with later MCU updates have the AMP function, not just KGL, other functions are the same across all manufacturers too.

But what that AMP function is for? I tried to set different values but havent noticed any change in volume levels.
Also, I noticed something strange. When I set audio levels (on Audio tab) to 0 - my SWC next/prev buttons stopped working in radio (to change preset stations)! After setting values to 1 (was 10-15 originally) and redefining SWC setup, it works now again...

I would assume for sdjusting the output levels for when connecting to some OEM amps.
I ve not tried it myself yet.
Hello,
I have a stock amplifier on my car and I had the same problem. The seller told me that is plug and play but is not. The audio output is amplified (and it should not be if having a stock amp on the car). Going to factory menu and setting the amp level lower will help but not much.
I have solved the issue by using the Rca speaker outputs (witch are pre out audio). I have cut the wires for speackers in the main connector and soldered the wires from the rca connectors. Now it sounds realy good, no background noise, it's perfect now.
The conclusion is : if you have a stock amplifier on your car you must use the rca outputs (not the speaker outputs, they are amplified).
For reference : I have a 2010 Mazda 6 with factory Bose sound system. Head unit : Klyde 6 quad core and HD version.

Lol, thanks, but this is the purpose of the RCA outs, this is what they are for !!
The amp volume in factory settings is a new addition, probably because some OEM amps dont connect to the OEM head unit via RCA, they connect via the speaker outs and the amp wire triggers the OEM head unit into "low level" mode, basically simulating RCA by only slightly amplifying the signal.
În my case with amp level set at minimum (25%) the sound was still to loud plus a buzz when no sound was played and also very poor sound quality.
The only control for the amplificator output sound level is the amplifier level menu that has only 3 options (25%,50%,100%). At 25% was still to high, and beacuase of the reamplification I was getting strange buzz at low or no sound played.
The other settings with numeric values adjustable with +/- buttons for system, radio, bt, and so on, are not actualy volume controls. Theese are gain values for each module in part (system Board, bt module, radio module, TV module, etc...) and they have to be corelated otherwise when switching between apps the sound level will be different. For example if listening to radio and if receiving and answering a call while listening radio, the conversation would be to loud or to low comparing to radio sound level if gain levels are set improper.
Regarding the wires, in my case the seller said is fully compatible with my stock amplififier and is "plug and play" and it did not provide any technical documentation, only some basic wiring diagrams. It did not provide the type of each output (amplified or not amplified) and since I have told them I need the stock amplif compatible version (they was asking for this info in product description on their website) I was expecting to receive a device without the integrated amplifier (they needed 2 weeks to build it)...
Therefore I think now you can see my confusion, and I'm sure i'm not the only one in this situation. That is why I share this information here.
And this is not the only hardware issue I have had. There is also static noise on the radio if no sound is broadcasted on the radio station (between 2 songs for example), witch I have also fixed very easy, but this is a different story .
Best regards!

And one more thing : Never ever pass a amplified sound signal through a second amplifier. You risk to burn the second amplifier or the speakers or both. Also you will amplify the background noise with the second amplifier resulting in bad quality sound. Also electrically is not a good ideea beacuase of the input/output impedances (a amplifier input is designed to receive a low power and high impedance signal).

The standard method of connecting an aftermarket head unit to an amp is via RCA, there is an alternative for systems like yours - you can buy a converter which "de-amplifies" the output from the speaker wires (using potentiometers). Your seller was correct - the unit IS compatible with your car - you use the RCAs or buy the converter, this applies to these units and indeed ANY after market head unit, Android or not, I m afraid that your assumption was incorrect - no one builds a head unit minus the internal amp, they just fit it with RCA outs which bypasses the internal amp.
I know you shouldnt amplify the signal twice, but try telling that to some OEMs !
Yes I see your point of view and is correct but when I asked the seller if the audio out from the main connector is amplified they said No and I only have to connect it to my car directly and not use the Rca connectors. That was wrong. I had to cut and solder wires witch this makes it no longer "plug and play".
I have read a lot on the Web and there are many that they even do not know that they have a stock amplifier in the car, and since the seller can provide bad information people can very easy damge their systems. So I just want to make clear why the sound can be to loud and what can be done. Limiting the amplifier volume in the Hu when using a second amplifier I see it as a improvisation and it should not be done. Many of the cars that cought fire is beacuase of electric improvisations leading to wires overheating resulting with fire .

Malaysk solved the issue. Under factory settings (password 126) there's an audio tab where I was able to lower everything.

Which setting allowed you to lower audio of apps and radio? Was it system?

How to force audio to play with front speaker?

As the title saids. The reason to do so is my phone "thinks" that an earphone is connected, but there's actually no earphone connected. Now all the audio are played with the "earphone that doesn't exist", that means the speaker won't play anything other than alarms.
I searched for solution, and found an app called "headset toggle" on Google Play. It allowed me to play music with the back speaker, but that's useless. What annoys me is that when I receive a phone call, the audio is also played with the "earphone that doesn't exist". I wonder if anyone knows how to force the audio in phone calls to play with front speaker.
Btw I'm using cm12.1, so I do have root. I've also tried flashing different roms, even stock rom to see if it's a software issue, unfortunately it's not.
Also I've found a "front speaker only mod" here but the download link is broken. If anyone have downloaded it before can you share a copy to me?

Thanks for the reply. I tried that app, it did what I want to do but it requires a ram consumpting background service. Please tell me if there's any other methods that doesn't require a background service. Thank you!:fingers-crossed:
Please, anyone knows a less ram consumpting method?

If i were you should buy earpiece jack i think. Mine was broken too and i live with that broken jack for 1month and ordered a new jack, repaired it and everything is working like charm. Still using it about 7 months and no problem.
Its so cheap on Aliexpress.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I wanted to see if there's any software that allows me to switch between earphone and speaker mode. The phone could still play sounds through earphone after I plug one in, but it thought I still have an earphone connected after I remove the earphone.
Didn't quite understand what's an "earpiece jack" btw. Did you replace the whole earpiece of the phone?
