HTC Vivid with Stock ROM 4.0.3
HTC Sense version 3.6
Software number 3.26.502.56 710RD
Kernel Version 3.0.16-gf59f9ce
I had problems with this phone. Every time I updated some app. facebook or most apps after I started them screen was white (phone freeze) and I had to remove battery to restart phone.
Factory reset didnt't help and I unlocked bootloader, installed cwm, got root access and with Titanium backup pro uninstalled most AT&T bloatware, as well facebook, some google apps like google+ etc... And phone for now works ok.
My question is... Can I leave stock rom rooted with unlocked bootloader or that's not recommended?

I just rooted my Nexus One by way of super one click method without any issues. Have root, superuser permission, busybox, titanium backup. I do noot have the open lock when phone boots up so my bootloader is not unlocked. My question is this, (probably dumb but) Can I still nstall the cyanogenmod rom from Rom manager??? I have the paid version of Rom Manager and didn't want to unlock the bootloader if I didn't have to.
Thanks,
Vinny
Nexus one 2.2.2 FRG83G
PS I going to try CyanogenMod 6.1.1
You don't have bootloader unlocked, but since you have root, you can install CyanogenMod using Rom Manager.
It's not absolutely necessary to unlock bootloader in order to install customized rom. Unlocking bootloader is just the "official" way to let you install customized rom
Just got the Bell ICS 4.0.3 OTA and been trying to root for the last hour finally got it and want to share with others. None of the tricks available worked and i tried them all. They all installed superuser but could not update binaries.
I'm not going to bore you on unlocking boot loader etc. or how to get ICS. You can find that here and here.
Once you have ICS and have unlocked your bootloader use "HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit V2.1" to flash WCX's Recovery. One you have that boot into recovery and install "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip", reboot and you now have root. Your might want to get SuperSU from the PlayStore which i think is a better root tool and goes with the ICS theme

Couldn't you just install a rooted rom and be rooted?

Yeah of course but if you want to stay with the stock rom (like me with bell for wifi tether) this procedure is better.
Yeah i'm to lazy to S-Off and find a ROM that works. I really just need CMW and root. I freeze all the bloat anyways so this is much better.
I don't think the Raider will see Jelly Bean and if/when maybe i will need to do the "wire trick" but for now stock rooted is fine.
Dear All
Yesterday I've bougtht thid awesome phone.
The BIG problem was that the phone was customized by a italian carrier (TIM)
I hate carrier customized ROM, so I've formatted to a factory ROM downloaded fro htc1guru website
I've unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and SU.
Now the phone is ok for my look.
I've a BIG question (mainly because do not undenstood the cronology of the HTC ROMs)
Have I installed the LATEST ROM? (Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1, (JB 4.3, SENSE 5.5)
And a last question. I tryed ALL ways to get S-OFF but without success. It is a problem have the phone ONLY with unlocked bootloader, custom Recovery and Rooted ROM? (BUT NOT S-OFF ???)
Thank You in advance to who help me
Best Regards
I installed cm11 on my HTC ONE M7. But after it for a while, I was bored by it and started missing my stock htc sense 6 features. So, I want to return back my stock. I forgot keep a backup of my stock rom and I am having a difficult time searching for the rom/ruu. I used the cyanogenmod's own app to install cm11 so it has only tampered my bootloader. Any suggestions?I have even installed TWRP to install a custom ROM. Can I install a Europe version of RUU and still get OTA updates over my phone?
My phone is useless right now. I will be happy to root my phone as well.
Alvin
Hello,
I had rooted my P20 Pro before and installed TWRP.
Now reset to Stock Rom, no root using stock recovery downloading and installing stock rom.
Gave the phone to my daughter and the Netflix App doesn't show up in Play store anymore?
Phone is still OEM unlocked btw. German unbranded version.
What to do to get back to stock with all Apps showing up not wanting to relock bootloader?

See if it is already installed onto the phone as part of the stock ROM

As far as i know is because your phone is unlocked. I am in the same boat and cant see netflix in the play store. I dont know if we just have to download the .apk to install it or if we need to use a modified version
I unlocked my bootloader yesterday
Huawei P20, EMUI 9.
AND NOW, behold, I can't even start Netflix!
In the same boat here. Netflix app installed but getting an error message that my device isn't supported by the app. Same thing happens with Netflix in a Web browser. No Netflix in Play store. My device is a bootloader unlocked but not rooted clt-l09.
