Multi-room with Chomecast Video - Google Chromecast

I see that Google has released Multi-room sync for the Chomecast Audio. I currently have a Chomecast 2015 (video) that is connected into my home theater. I would like to add a CC Audio to my outdoor speakers and sync them. Reading the Multi-room FAQ it says that the video version is not supported. I'm not sure why since its basically the same hardware but with HDMI out. Are there any custom roms or hacks that make this possible?

[Q] Sending remote signals over HDMI to optimus?

HDMI 1.3 incorporates a function to allow the tv remote to control other hdmi units, called regza link in my toshiba tv, but most manufacturers have their own (semi-compatible) versions.
From what i understand from the tech specs, the optimus x2 does have HDMI 1.3, so i wonder, can i use the tv remote as phone remote and effectively turn the phone into fullHD home theatre system?
i havent yet gotten the phone, and i probably wont get a hdmi cable with it, so i cannot test it myself for several weeks (living on the countryside, miles from nearest electronics store..
No you cant
firstly it doesnt have any implementation of HDMI CEC (doesnt have to just because it have HDMI 1.3),
secondly its not a mediaplayer but a phone running a phone OS - the OS are not designed to operate as a remote controlled mediaplayer using HDMI CEC control or otherwise - and there are no "mediacenter software" you can install to make it act like one.
thirdly its not a mediaplayer but a phone - its ability to play media are limited to certain formats and certain encoding profiles. "1080p" or "FullHD" are not terms describing its ability to function as home theatre system, but simply and only a term for the maximum resolution supported of the supported file and encoding formats. The phone doesnt support all the media formats and variations you would expect from a home theatre system or mediaplayer. Its "1080p" abilities is about being able to play limited Web2 content like youtube video, encoded in baseline profiles - it doesnt have support for encodings in main or high profiles or AC3/DD or DTS audio or mkv or DVD structures or BD structures or HDTV or subtitles or anything else you would expect of a home theatre system
Its HDMI connection is about being able to project the odd pictures and video now and then, but it require video to be encoded in a supported format within the supported specs and it require the control to be done on the phone.
It will never be any kind of FullHD home theatre or mediaplayer replacement.
I'll say it it a bit nicer.
The HDMI connection is excellent for playing video you have recorded on your phone or to use the phone for playing correctly encoded video if you are away at a hotel for the weekend.
Using this phone to play full HD movies as a home theater replacement is never going to happen but clearly the ability for phones to act as a full media server is in the post.

If the Chromecast have Bluetooth 3.0 why we cant listen local music on TV?

Hello, my curiosity of the Chromecast take me to this website:
http://asia.cnet.com/google-chromecast-supports-bluetooth-62221903.htm
Accord to this article the Chromecast supports Bluetooth 3.0, then my question is, why we cant play some local music in Google Play Music for listen on the TV?
Probablly is disable this tecnology but I know this comunity could do the work for add this function.

I didn't look at the article but to answer your question most wifi chips now are made with bluetooth and sometimes FM radio option. Bluetooth as of now is not used on this chip/device.

if we dont ever end up seeing bluetooth active on this it might even be because its physically disabled inside the chip via the manufacturer so even with device drivers on the unit it wouldn't be able to use it.. its happened before sort of a method to ensure that nobody uses something that needs to have a licensing paid for to an organisation or another company.. does Bluetooth 3.0 need to have a license paid per X# devices?
anyways random thought.. who knows maybe it is enabled and an update in 6 months will see it active on the devices via an update.
Yeah, I don't know if there are specific licensing fees but there are licensing restrictions that require an agreement with the Bluetooth SIG to enable Bluetooth in your device.
Either way, this should ultimately be possible through WiFi which would give you much better audio quality. It's just that none of the Android apps support streaming content directly from the device (yet).

Chromecast with Projector and Audio Extractor...no audio

I have a home cinema projector with no audio out, so in order to make my chromecast work I bought the J Tech DHDMI Audio Extractor. I've seen this exact model discussed elsewhere online, so as far as I know, others have used it successfully with Chromecast.
So my setup is - Chromecast into the IN of the HDMI Audio Extractor. HDMI cable OUT to my projector. And Optical Audio OUT to my sound system.
The problem? No audio.
I tried the exact same setup with my PS3 instead of the chromecast, and it worked - video and audio, with the exact same hookup. So the extractor works and the cords are fine.
I've tried all 3 audio toggles on the Audio Extractor (Pass-through/2.1/5.1) and none work for this.
I've tried multiple reboots and factory resets to no success.
I have heard that the ChromeCast tries to be smart about it's A/V capabilities, and there is a chance it may be looking at the HDMI connection, seeing that the projector has no Audio capabilities, and giving up, but I don't know how to attempt to reconfigure that, and there are certainly other people out there who have made my exact setup work, and I can't imagine what they are doing differently...
This theory does have additional evidence: When setting up my PS3 I had to set the sound set up to "Manual" rather than "Automatic" - in automatic mode, the PS3 said the HDMI connection had no audio capabilities. However in Manual mode it seemed to pass through audio just fine. I wonder if the same is happening with the Chromecast, only it's too "smart" to just push the audio through?
To test that theory I used an HDMI to VGA adapter to try to get VGA into my projector, but had the exact same result.
Finally, I tried to configure the Chromecast with JUST the optical audio out from the extractor without video so that it wouldn't try to guess what the audio was, and then hooking up the video after. Same result. Tried turning the projector/audio extractor on and off a bunch of times too..
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you can borrow an HDMI display/TV that has audio, you can try hooking that up first, booting the Chromecast to get audio, then do a hot-swap. That might work, but if it does, it's only a temporary solution and proves your theory that Chromecast is inspecting the audio capabilities on the HDMI side.
HDfury2 works well for me with its built in audio breakout.

Yeah, I think that's got to be my next move if only to make sure the Chromecast is not a lemon.
In case you don't end up getting yours to work. This is what I use to split the audio and use the chromecast on my projector. and it works flawlessly.

The latest:
* Confirmed Chromecast sends audio by hooking it up to a regular TV
* Tried to hook it up to projector through HDMI->VGA connection and still no audio
* Found out that I'm not the only one having Projector-Chromecast-HDMI splitter problems: (I can't post links but go to the AMazon page for the product)
Ugh. Who wants a free Chromecast? I just don't see this working out for me...
So whatever adapter is used must report audio capabilities. Like I mentioned, I have HDfury2 and get audio fine. The one @Znomon mentioned is cheaper though. Then again, it's still close to the cost of a Chromecast, so...

Sorry u can't get it to work if u really want to give the chromecast away I'll take it been wanting to try one out.
Hi. I just registered to this forum to say that I am able to do EXACTLY what you trying to do.
But the trick is the "guy" i'm using. It's a chinese cheap HD Converter that splits hdmi audio into RCA output and hdmi video. I know that I have not that special audio since it is turned on a rca output, but it works.
I bought from a local tech market. And the first one I bought did not work and the difference between them is energy source (the first had not).
Good luck and keep persistent.
PS: If you really want, i can buy one for you here in Brazil and send you by mail... but the postage will cost more than the converter!

So there is no way to hack the audio without other hardware (splitter)? I was hoping maybe bluetooth can be a solution?

Sorry, need hardware to extract it.
Bluetooth, even if you managed to get Chromecast's Bluetooth enabled, paired and sending audio, wouldn't be good because the audio stream would be delayed, unless it also delayed the video stream too but even that would probably not guarantee lip sync.
I'll take it
Deancommie, I'll take it off your hands. I'm a school teacher, so free is the best price.

[Q] How to enable USB Audio streaming?

Hi everyone,
Is there a way do enable the USB Audio streaming on the HTC One m7?
I know from factory HTC doesn't allow this (don't know why) but I need it in order to be able to listen music on my car (with Gromaudio kit).
From Gromaudio website info:
Android
USB Audio Streaming on Jelly Bean and up Android phones, without AALinQ
USB Audio streaming (without AALinQ) is supported as long as Android phone is running Android 4.1 and above. Most but not all Android 4.1+ phone support USB streaming due to the way some phone companies leaving this feature out in their version of Android.
You will have to enable USB streaming using a config file. Check the instructions on the forum.
With the config file loaded, any application on the phone (i.e. Pandora, Spotify, Navigation, etc.) will have its audio redirected through the GROM in clean digital audio. There will be no track control though with any of these application also if stereo supports text, song info will not not be displayed (on AALinQ the text is supported.)
Please note that with the USB streaming config file loaded AALinQ will work just like other applications with no track control or song info. If you would like to re-enable the AAlinQ controls and text, you will have to either reset the GROM unit by pulling white connector to disconnect power from it or load another config file to turn it back on which would be config file with gromusb2.cfg with a= 1 instead.
Known limitations are: HTC phones are not supporting USB Audio streaming. Other phones, including Samsung and Nexus Android phones, do support USB streaming.

Unfortunatly I dont think it possible, I tried the same thing, messed about for days trying and ended up just buying one of these, I guess it HTC's way of just making a little bit more money, I even tried car mode, that didnt work either, I started with a 1 meter long 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, but that just got in the way.

Well with Grom it works to listen music in the car if you use their AALINQ application from Google Play.
But you need to apply a config file and so on. But I'm not able to stream music from other apps like Youtube, Pandora or so.
But with other phones like Nexus you can do all these because the USB Audio streaming is enabled on their phones.
Not sure why HTC decided to have this feature disabled.
I've thought while having the device rooted might be a way to enable this.
Solved!
I managed to solve the issue by using pure Android Google Edition ROM for HTC One M7.
With this ROM the USB Audio Streaming is working, I can have sound in my car (USB Digital sound via Grom interface with steering wheel control) from whatever audio application I want from my HTC One (Poweramp, Pandora, Youtube, etc ..)

Are you by any chance using Lollipop? I think USB audio should be enabled on Lollipop on all devices. Not sure about the Sense version, can anyone confirm this?
I already tried with Sense version and Lollipop, the USB audio streaming is still blocked with that ROM.

[PLEDGE] $50 for Xposed to hack audio to Bluetooth from Android (not from TV)

$50 bounty to a dev who is able to create an Xposed module which hacks the audio so it goes to Bluetooth on the Android 6x & 7x devices (phone, tablet, etc).
Yes, there are other ways to get Bluetooth audio, such as adding a Bluetooth device to your TV output or using an HDMI audio extractor box.
That's not what this thread is about, so please be courteous and keep those discussions out of this thread.
This thread is about Xposed and hacking the audio so it goes to your Bluetooth connected devices in Android. Must work for all casting, such as BeIN Sports app, Netflix, Youtube, etc. etc. etc.
I will update the pledged bounty $$$ amount if anyone else wishes to pledge to the cause. :good:
impossible since none of the content actually goes through the Android device and streams directly to the cast device.
[edit] Only solution for you here is to screen cast to the cast device and then you can use a blutooth speaker since the content is on the Android and playing on it.
Didn't get it clearly... Is it to route your phone audio thru Bluetooth... It's happening already...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA-Developers mobile app
The problem is Android device cant act as a sink. So even if you hack the chromecast you also have to hack the mobile device which is quite hard.

The issue here is that the content being casted is only available on one unit unless you screen cast.
CCast gets the content it plays directly, it doesn't go through the Android device that started the cast.
So the only way to get the audio from a casted app to display video on the CCast but play the audio through the Android device is to play the content on the Android device and cast it's screen to the CCast...
But the compression used to screen cast is rarely able to keep up with what you need for playing your average video (It will stutter and grab frames) and even if you manage to get smooth video it's next to impossible to get the audio to sync with the video.
the CCast is not designed to do what is requested.
The best way to do this is to use an old Full Android device with an HDMI port, running something like Plex or Kodi you can target content and pair a BT Headphone or speaker to.
I do something similar to this with my old Xoom.
You can also cast audio through your usb too. Plug a usb wireless sound card and it will work. In anyway, even if you cast the audio from BT it wont be sync. Because both wifi and bt they are buffering so it wont be sync.
Also I couldnt get it clearly whether if you want to stream from chromecast2android or reverse.
