I'm currently using MX Player, is there any other that's better?

tried VLC and seems like they have almost the same features, tho I still prefer MX Player... I guess no player out there can beat the MX Player.
Has MX started supporting h264 mkv again? They removed it about a year ago over ' copyright issues', which rendered the app completely useless.
I always use VLC. Because it supports every codec. Also, it's open source.

Yes, and they got h265 support as well.
And they're completely free, no Ads, Analytics, or any other garbage.
No one is spying on you with VLC.
I always use best player, is very good for me
Only MX player

For quick playback, I switched to VLC.
For movie playback sessions, I once bought ZoomPlayer, having lots of features aiming for this scenario.
Always satisfied with VLC, but is not working on my tablet with cm13...
Using MX, perfectly.

It's definitely VLC.
MX Player Pro is my personal favorite. It's very customizable and can handle anything I've needed it for.
vlc so far
Been a big fan of VLC on PC, but MX Player is real good on Android

Interesting, with such a helpful guy around, live is easy
As I could not find an addon for the media player to accept .avi I switched to Coreplayer. No regrets, but why use 2 programs where one could do the job?
So mr Fruitcake, please expose your sources.

The free playert is nice, but drags along - very low frames per minute it seems
Hey everyone,
I thought this was an appropriate place to discuss the viability of multiple video format playback on the legend. I've been trying out all the different apps that claim to be able to play an impressive array of video formats, but none of them can play a simple avi video file (even though it says avi support/playback in the app descriptions). Most just crash, or the video just doesn't play.
So, my question for you is, have any of you discovered a way to watch avi files, or any other video formats on the legend without flat out converting it to a playable format? (ex wmv, 3gp, mpeg are the ones supported i believe). Post your comments/thoughts/experiences! Not so much a question as it is me creating a thread for the discussion of app development for this problem (not technically a problem), or even integration of this added functionality to our fantastic bunch of ROMs cooked up by our friendly neighborhood devs.
Thanks,
Michael
I think there is nothing we can do about the inferior hardware on Legend. Compared to the N8 and C7 that Nokia gave me, the same ARM11 cpu but the Nokia came with Broadcom GPU that does include hardware video acceleration. It plays 720P with ease.
With rock player I did watch avi files.. (the normal 700mb files)

you can try 'yxplayer' too. it plays large avi files smoothly..

no its doesn't.
It will play .avi files but not 100% smoothly like on pc... but it is playable.
and note: yxplayer is not working for well on android 2.2 and it doesnt work at all on higher > 2.2
yxplayer sucks. Rock player is really the only decent multi format player. Unfortunately doesn't work very well in CM7
I have been using summer player on cm7 and it plays avi files.

Seaman player is the only one that worked smooth for me on cm7 nightlies playing the 700mb files

Moboplayer ... It is free, and with a bit of fiddling plays avi and most other video formats I throw at it.

Any other N1 users trying Moboplayer? It seems like a nice alternative to Rock Player.
It seems that Moboplayer has various codec versions compiled for various processors, see
http://www.moboplayer.com/moboplayer_en.html#download
Anyone have a suggestion for the N1?
Thanks

Best Android Video Player Ever!
Dice player is better it actually can play 720p mkv high profile on nexus one
Still not as good as stock Galaxy S who does [email protected]
Good player on my N1
This player has the best audio/video sync of any of the players I have tried: Real player, Gallery, Rock player. I also find the most lag free play with Mobo for the entire length of the movies.
A suggestion: Mobo could remember where I left off if I have to stop a movie, exit Mobo, and come back later. If it can do this, I have not found out how.
I watched anime a lot and it usually came with H10P encoding , please kindly let me know if xperia Z1 can play the video smoothly? Thanks

You should give us link to try.
I found something on YouTube and if you meant on something like this YOUTUBE LINK then YES it can and it's very smooth.
If you have link for short movie to download, send me PM and I will try for you.

Stock Player can't
What he is asking for is if the Z1 can play Hi10p encoding. This is the latest encoding using 10bits instead of the normal 8bits (you can google for the rest of the features). You can go to doki.co or bakabt.me (BBT usually has larger files since it's full series, but if you're afraid of getting called the P word, everything in BBT is unlicensed in the states) and get one of the episodes there. The episode name will have 10bit or Hi10P or H10P in the name.
I don't watch movies on my device, but I have a few downloaded and waiting to be transferred off. I tried and the stock player and ES media player can't play these videos. I'm not sure if there are any 10bit player in the play store either.
I'm sure Z1 can handle that video but the question is do we have software and codex for that.
I really don't know that - so sorry - can't help here.
Sent from my Z1
Also watch a crapton of anime, Z1 plays 720p Hi10p videos fine using MX Player.
Struggles with 1080p Hi10p, but the file I tested had a very high bitrate and it was streamed from my PC.
Only works with software mode though, so battery takes a bit of a hit.

Today I'm going to shortlist some Music Players and Video Players which are supported with Nexus 6 and device with running Lollipop and will also discuss pros and cons of some of them
Music Player:
1. Power AMP: This is the most balanced music player available till now. It can deliver the PERFECTLY BALANCED BASS The equalizer is much effective. Another advantage of it is that it has many themes to choose from. Some are paid and some are free. It'll fully compatible with lollipop so there will be no crash of the app. And it's dirt cheap. You get 7 days of free trial and then you'll have to purchase the unlocker
Link: 1. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer
2. Full version unlocker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer.unlock
2. JetAudio Plus: This music player is mainly targeted towards the common people who is not too much serious about the audio but it doesn't mean that it's bad. It's the second best music player available on google playstore. I'll always ask everyone to purchase the plus version as this music player is not that effective with the two plug-ins it comes with (plug-ins are available to purchase through IAP) which are AM3D Audio Enhance and Bongiovi DPS. AM3D is a great plug-in which actually control the audio out-put of your taste and with Bongivoi DPS you can switch between different headphone's audio drivers. Though it's costly but it worth the price tag. Last but not the least, if you're using Pebble SmartWatch then it can be great addition for you because it has Pebble watch support
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jetappfactory.jetaudioplus
3. Google Play Music: As a free music player it prove itself as a great musicplayer, always
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.music
4. Musixmatch music & lyrics: A great music player with material design and tinted statusbar and great for those who want the Lyrics of their songs. Please note that for lyrics, the meta data of the audio file should be correct or else it'll fail to show the lyrics.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.musixmatch.android.lyrify
5. Neutron Music Player: This is a balanced music player. It can deliver very balanced bass. Worth trying
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neutroncode.mp
Other:
Player Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro
DoubleTwist Player (New): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayer
Video Player:
1. VLC for Android beta: Don't go by the term 'Beta'. It's a beast while playing video. If your device is capable enough to run the video file, it'll make sure that the video runs in buttery smooth FPS.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc.betav7neon
2. MX Player Pro: It's a great video player with all video format supported. get the pro version to remove the add and some pro features
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro
3. KMPlayer: Another video player with all video format supported
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kmplayer
PS: To test the audio out-put through headphones I've used AudioTechnica ATH M50 and Sennheiser CXC 700. Please note that audio quality mainly depends on the audio driver (hardware based) of your device and also on the out-put device you're using, such as headphones and portable speakers.
Please do press the "Thanks" button if this thread has helped you

And also try JetAudio Plus. It'll never disappoint you. But you'll have to use this with those 2 plug-ins
Why you show no love to playerpro... lol

Thanks for the helpful information.
Also worth noting is that yesterday I needed to play an MKV video file with AC3 audio and MX Player did not support the audio. I didn't download the pro version but it looks like this is a known issue with MX right now. VLC worked flawlessly. So looks like for the time being VLC is the go to until some plugin support gets worked out if you have need of AC3 playback.

It isn't a known problem, MX Player was forced to remove the AC3 audio codec due to licensing problems. To workaround this, download the custom codec.
See, http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...c3-and-mlp-audio-codecs-workaround-available/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/mx-player-custom-codec-dts-support-t2156254
and then your mkv, AC3 audio videos will work the same before. VLC is great though. It's my go-to player on the desktop but on Android, I prefer MX Player.

Didn't know that. I'll have to check out the workaround because I'm in the same boat, like MX Player a little better than VLC on Android but they are both great.
I can't believe nobody uses Shuttle player, I hardly ever hear it mentioned...by far the best music player to me, great UI, nice eq and sound quality, gapless playback (which is huge cause I listen to a lot of live music), no ads, very smooth...

VLC is the best so far. As far as I know MX player had to terminate AC3 codec due to some license codec.

Did you actually listen to the sound, or just look at it? Not great to look at but side by side with any of the others it blows them out of the water sound with sound quality. I don't work for them or anything, I'm just impressed with how much better it sounds. I'm mainly concerned with the quality over bluetooth in my car, so maybe with headphones its a different story.
