[Q] Ordering HTC One from UK (Handtec)

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on the forums, so please excuse any errors or rules I may have broken.
Anyway, I am due for a new phone in the next month or so, and after extensive research I have decided that I definitely want the One over the S4 and the Xperia Z. The problem is that I live in Australia, and retailers here are advertising the One at around $800 dollars (including shipping and whatnot), and I do not really want to pay that much for a phone. Anyway, I have decided that the best alternative is to order the phone from the UK (?), as the phone comes in at around $650 total. I am planning on buying the phone from Handtec in the UK and I was just wondering if anyone has had an experience with this company, and how reliable/easy to deal with they are. Also, apart from warranty issues, are there major problems associated with importing a phone from the UK to Australia? I have looked into network frequencies and the phone should work fine.
Thanks for all the help
I ordered from handtec also. The only thing I am worried is if it get's broken while being delivered or warranty issues. Since I have to ship it back to UK and vice versa and that would take days or maybe weeks before I can have it back.
But about handtec as a company they seem to be reliable to me. And their customer service is great. They answer your queries ASAP mondays to fridays only of course.
Ah awesome, sounds good Thanks for the help, I'll put in my order tonight :good:

Anyone have any hookups at Motorola, can't get my refund.

Hi everyone,
I ordered my 2014 Moto X just like everyone else on 9/16 and the next day I realized I made a mistake and wanted to change from AT&T to Pure version if I could. They said I will have to chat later, and I talked to them everyday till 9/26 when they said they cancelled the order and I will get a refund to order another one since that is the only way to do it at Motorola.
After a couple days, I got the phone even though Motorola site shows it as not shipped, Motorola chat told me it was cancelled and I should not have gotten the phone and I will get refund in a week.
I shipped the phone back, they got it on 10/07 and since then I have talked to them every single day about the phone and they still haven't refunded me or helped me in any other way.
I did find a couple of people helpful but it's not helping. It's been way over a month and I'm out a lot of money and I don't have a phone either. Does anyone have any hookups or contacts at Motorola who can help me out maybe? A number other than generic 1-800 number that would have a better answer than 24-48 hours or 7-10 business days?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Try this number between 8 am and 5 pm CST. White glove level 2 support.

Hope that gets you someone you need.

any swappa users want to build me a moto x?

Ive been having some major issues getting my order to go through...spent many hours on the phone with motorola
They've given me a 25$ accessory voucher that I'd be willing to give to someone who will order my moto x and ship it to me. (WA)
I have perfect feedback on ebay and verified paypal
anyone want to help a brother out?
Can't you just use a different computer like at a library and maybe an alternate gmail account to make the order?
I've tried everything I can think of... I've phoned them since the 9th and spend probably close to 4 hours in the phone...they don't even know what's causing the issue... I don't have another credit card with a USA address to try with... And my code expires Monday at midnight.
Nobody willing to help me out?? Not much risk on your part... You wouldnt have to ship the phone untill you are paid in full....

Im looking for a 32gb pure, cognac leather... Are you saying a few days till youd be able to order? Cause if my current order gets cancelled(likely will) my cyber monday code is only good till midnight tomorrow....
I had a problem on their website as well. The order wouldnt go through all the way. I just used chrome and internet explorer at the same time, and was chatting with moto support as well. (They had no idea why it wasnt going through.) But eventually it went through with chrome. I used moto credit, and it got stuck at the shipping address screen after i got approved for moto credit. Eventually i was able to get to the confirm and place order screen, but internet explorer gave an error with processing my order at this time, but chrome went through.
Kind of a pain, but all is well. I hope you are able to figure it out
Nick
Well this thread can be deleted...
I spent some more time on the phone with them this morning and finally got the order approved.

[Q] Australian MotoX owners, Screen repair advice?

Hi,
Im hoping for some advice. I have a MotoX 2014 from UK MotoMaker. I live in Austrtalia.
Yesterday I cracked my screen. I contacted Motorola Australia about organising a repair/replacement. I've seen people talking about a first time, $120, replacement? They said there is nothing they can do as I bought the phone in the UK. There Australian service centre could take a look, for a fee.
Before talking to Motorola UK, I was wondering if anyone from Australia has had a repair done on a Moto X? How much did the screen repair cost from Motorola? What other phone repair shops would you recomend?
Thanks for any help,
Michael
Just wondering how you went here Michael I am in a similar predicament?
Cheers
Hi mate.
I got a few quotes from local repair shops, the only one that was confident that they could get the part was http://www.aussiemobilephonerepairs.com.au
It cost me $220, and they organized all the postage etc (they are in Bris, I'm in ACT). This was the cheapest quote too.
New screen looks great, only issue is that the adhesive on my wood back is now a little loose in places, so it pops up and doesn't sit so flush anymore. Not a huge issue, i could fix it with glue!
Good luck mate.
On a side note, I now have another issue I'm trying to resolve! For a "Global" company, Motorola certainly make it hard to get help!

[SOLVED]Help with Moto X Warranty

Okay guys,
I have a 2014 Moto X that I bought brand new at best buy about 7 months ago for cash when my phone broke and I wasn't eligible for an upgrade or had insurance. Now it's suddenly not booting past the little globe animation. I've tried various ROMs, kernels, flashing it back to stock, you name it and no matter what it just won't boot past the damn globe.
So I go to the Motorola site to start the warranty replacement process.... They can't find my device on file whenever I enter the IMEI/MEID and request a copy of my receipt... Which I cannot find. I tried contacting Best Buy thinking they could pull the receipt by the IMEI but according to customer service that isn't something they can do since I paid cash.
Do any of you guys know who I can contact about getting a warranty replacement? My carrier (sprint) doesn't want to help me since I bought the phone with cash outside of my contract and claim they can't verify the warranty term because of that, best buy won't give me a receipt since I paid cash, and Moto won't help me without a receipt. I'm at the end of my rope here and would really like to get this phone replaced under warranty and not have to pay more for the replacement than I did for the original phone (the supervisor in the cell phone Dept discounted it to $49.99 just to get rid of it)

Without your receipt, there is nothing you can do. When you pay in cash it's important not to loose the receipt because there is no record of when you purchased it other than the receipt they give you during the purchase. Sorry but you will have to pay for the repair yourself since you don't have a receipt.

Yeah, that's what I figured was going to happen. I know I didn't throw the damn thing away, I just have to figure out where I left it. It's frustrating that best buy can't look it up by the IMEI though... Or rather, I KNOW that they can and they just won't. When I worked for at&t, we had incidents involving warranty claims where someone would scream and yell about their phone only being six months old but they bought it at best buy with cash, and we were able to call them and have them look it up by the IMEI (most of the time it was a few months out of warranty and the customer knew it) but when I said that on the phone, BB customer service said they've "changed their retail system since then", which I know is a load of BS, they just want me to come buy another phone.

I used to work for best buy about 6 years ago. They can't look it up by IMEI. The EMEI is not connected to the receipt. It's not that they don't want to, they really can't.

I know this is a bit of thread necromancy (not too bad since it's only a few months old) but I've resolved the issue just in time.
I thought I had lost or thrown away the receipt, but it turns out I had apparently used it as a bookmark for a book I was reading in a doctor's office the same day I purchased the phone and I just decided to finish the book yesterday, took it off my bookshelf and TADA! THERE'S THE RECEIPT!!
I've taken a picture of it and was able to finally proceed with the warranty process and just received an email from moto telling me that my claim has been changed from "on hold" to "open" after being reviewed.
The purpose of this reply is twofold; 1) so I can definitively say that you cannot get a warranty claim through moto directly for no-contract devices without a receipt if they were purchased through another seller rather than straight from moto because they do NOT keep any sort of records that tell them whether or not it's still within the warranty term beyond the manufacture date, so if the phone was physically assembled more than a year ago, the warranty claim system will automatically tell you to provide proof of purchase, and 2) so I can mark this thread solved in case anyone else loses their proof of purchase and searches to see if there's anything you can do (there isn't) if you paid in cash
Whew. My warranty ends 7/17/2016 so I found it just in time!

Late reply, but THIS is absolutely correct. Though they used to be able to about 7-8 years ago, they have indeed changed their inventory system to having some sort of internal identifier. I've found the receipt, and it has a bunch of numbers for the device, but none of them are the IMEI,HEX,MEID, or even the retail SKU from the original box. There's literally nothing, when looking at the receipt, that would allow them to look up that particular sale just by providing the box.
