Hello,
I have a Fire 5.1.1 rooted and SlimLP installed. When I look at the Amazon appstore, there are certain apps (mostly marked "Kindle Tablet Edition") that I cannot install. On Amazon it says my device is incompatible. I know I can get these apps in the Google Play store. I am wondering if there is anything I can change on my tablet that would tell Amazon that it's okay to install those apps.
Thanks
Other than changing the os back to Fire OS no.
Thanks for the response.
I would recommend just installing the Google Play Store as it has all the apps up to date. PM me if you need help doing this.

As they've got the Slim LP rom on chances are they've flashed gapps afterwards, it's in the installation post for the rom after all. And they even say "I know I can get these apps in the Google Play store." in the OP

You are completely correct, my apologies. I read these posts too quickly.

Hello everyone,
I recently rooted my KF HD 8.9 and installed the Play Store. All is well and most of the apps I want installed without an issue.
However there's one app that I swear by that isn't "supported on this device". Chrome.
I ended up sideloading an APK I grabbed from the web but that's neither ideal and it's not a current version.
My question is:
Is there a way to bypass the "not supported" message via an app like Market Enabler?
OR
Is there another (I'd imagine legal) way to obtain the current APK from an alternate website?
Not sure if this will help you but I'll share my method. What I do is just download whatever app I need to my SGS1 and back it up with Titanium Backup. Then, I mount it to my PC and pull the .apk out of the TitaniumBackup folder and side load it. I did this with Nova Launcher and HD Widgets and so far everything is working wonderfully.

Unfortunately this is my only Android device.
But thank you for the suggestion.

It will not help because it will redirect you into Google play
Apktop.com
Since chrome is free then this is legal

Nope, the 1mobile market app does the upgrade by itself.
It even upgrades sideloaded apps
btw... it will mark the kindle skype app as outdataded, do not, i repeat do not substitute the kindle skype with the market skype.
Can it?
All the swf players said that I need to download adobe flash player plug-in,but I failed.
And I heard that google play store do not supply it anymore?
If someone know how to solve it,please tell me.
My english is not that good, hope I make it cleared.
You can find all the old versions of Adobe Flash here

This is the link to the most recent one for ICS+ http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.69/install_flash_player_ics.apk

Thanks so much that you answered me!
But the first link,it says that,"we're sorry .This content requies Adobe Flash Player, which is not supported by your device................ "
The second link,I can't open it,maybe because my network or sth.
Otherwise,I heard that Nook HD+ do not support any other kind of apps except those from nook or google store.
So,does that mean I have to reinstall the system to make it?
(I can't send any link,so I delete them when I quote.)
Forgot that stock had those restrictions. If you look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994129 it gives advice on Sideloading. Either via ADB or using CWM to flash tweaks.

If you are stock you should try to get it from the Google Play Store, it is there but not available for all devices. I originally was able to load it from the store when I had my tablet stock.

:crying: I do searched and downloaded an app from Google Play Store, but it won't work, maybe my device really don't support it.
I originally want to see if anyone has the same problem and know how to solve it so I won't do any change to my device, because I'm really not good at these tech things.LOL.But I feels like most people turn it to CM10 when they get it.So I think I'll try the method that thread mentioned which artesea offered that link to me.
Thanks for the experience you told me!
(Excuse me for my poor english. )
Did you have Flash Player installed from the Play Store for another device? If so you can install it on this device. I have it on my stock HD+. Click on the down arrow in the Play Store to see your installed apps. Then click on the all tab. Then you scroll until you find it in your list and install from there.

I am sorry that I wasn't clear, but I meant that I had downloaded Adobe Flash Player from the Google Play Store when my Nook HD+ was still running the stock rom. It is still supported in the Google Play Store for Android 4.0.x ICS and previous versions. With that and SWF Player I am able to run the .swf game flow...
On any Android version after ICS you would need to sideload Flash Player, but if you are running stock you should be able to load it from the play store.

@RageAgain when I first got my HD+ it immediately updated itself to stock 2.1.0 and the flash player was not available to me from the play store. I had to flash leapinlar's Extras zip file with cwm to enable unknown sources and then download and install the ICS version from Adobe's archive page. I used stock for a short while before flashing CM, and now I have 2.1.0 on a bottable SD card. The flash player may have been available at one time from stock 2.1.0, but not any more.

Good to know, and yes I have on CM 10.1/2 and other previous devices had to do the Adobe archive sideload...
Thanks to all of you guys!
After several days struggling(not that bad actually),I just nailed the ADB thing.Though still felt known little about it.
Anyway,I can play my swf file now! I was so happy that I want to cry!!! TAT
I made it !
It's all because of you!Thank you guys so much!
I cannot post in the developer forum yet, so I ask here instead:
I have done the installation as usual (full wipe, and also installed slim gapps, the latest release).
For some reason I don't have a Google play in the latest Slimkat.
I cannot setup google account, and Gmail and other google apps refuse to start.
Something strange during first start-up: There was no guide to configure the phone as it normally is. It just went straight to home screen.
I have done full wipe again, and reinstalled everything, but the same issue. No google play.
This is not my first custom rom, I have had previous slim versions installed, and before that a lot of other custom roms, so I think I know how to install everything. Before this version I had the previous beta of slimkat installed.
Any suggestions?
device not supported...
I tried to open some other google apps, as well as the browser. Either they close directly, or show a message that my device is not supported by google play services.
Back to froyo, and now it works
Returned back to gingerbread and flashed slimkat again, coming from CM10, etc... yeah you know the deal...
Now it seems to work fine with google play

Glad you got the playstore working again . When I have had those kinds of problems sometimes reloading the most current versioin of Google Apps will help too.
Edit: I mean 2nd gen (one with hdmi and camera)
I'm a bit confused with this. I have one on the way, but I'm concerned it will have been updated to the latest firmware. Are there downgrades available if it is locked down, or is it just not an issue with the latest firmware?

I started getting that on 2 kf hd 7" and 1 kf 8.9 that were rooted and updates disabled about 2 years ago. I was on here trying to remember how I rooted it in the first place to restore it.

Hi, first thread and all that - so just a quick question:
Often when I click links (on websites) in Chrome to apps, it wants to take me to the Amazon app store when the link I clicked is supposed to go to the Google play store. Is there any way to change the DEFAULT app store so it always follows the link to Google play rather than Amazon apps?
I rooted my Fire btw (I think so any way - I followed a youtube tutorial to download a few files to install google play), sorry for lack of details rooting is new to me this is my first Android device.
Thanks for any help

I'm not sure which app controls that, but I have most amazon apps frozen with titanium backup pro, and now play store just opens

Thanks. I'm not aware of the titanium backup pro, will it conflict with anything else or do anything that can't be reversed?

There is a couple of options
Free;requires PC/Mac/Linux and root Adb Shell Pm Hide as much bloat and amazon as you can by k3ll0gs
$5.99:App no pc needed, freeze withTitanium Backup PRO Key use app list in
5.0.1 Bloatware & other Safe to remove Apps
both methods have the same result, the app stops running, and can be restarted if needed
as long as you don't stop a system critical app
There are free apps that can freeze other apps. Are they not good in you opinion ?

I installed one of the app freezing apps from google store, but when I tried to freeze an app (the amazon app store) it said I need root access. So obviously I hadn't rooted it, just installed the google play store (never had an android device before so rooting and it's terminology is completely new to be sorry). I followed a tutorial on youtube (I think it was a rootjunky video) and thought I was rooting the device, but obviously I just installed the google app store.
I'm not a techno-virgin, but I think I need to do more research on rooting and see how easy it is to reverse etc, so thanks for your help, but for now I guess I just have to deal with getting defaulted to the amazon app store.

Basically there are two ways to root, right now
Modified Boot.img
Amazon Fire 5th Gen 2015 Root by Awesomeslayerg
Root Video With Launcher changing Instructions by Rootjunky
Custom Recovery Method
[Video]Install SuperSu using a Custom Recovery
Unrooting is can be done from the supersu app that is installed in the rooting process, but unrooting is different than returning to full stock.
To restore full stock see [HOWTO] How to restore firmware on your device + Amazon Firmware by Awesomeslayerg

It would be nice if it was that simple wouldn't it ytsejam! Unfortunately all that does it turn off being able to open ANY external store links, it doesn't then redirect them to the google play store. It would seem the ONLY option is to root your device.
Hi,

I am looking for the same information.
Previously, you just had to Rename /system/app/MarketIntentProxy.apk to something like MarketIntentProxy.bak and you would be able to have apps launch Google Play Store.
On 5.3.1, the apk is not in /system/app/ or may have been renamed?
