What happened to the in Forum search bar?
Is there anyway to test the hardware on the G925A?
My phone is encrypted, running ATT Stock 5.1.1. I've done a factory restore and restart every couple of days. After the OTA update to 5.1.1, a box pops up saying android is starting apps every time I cold/warm boot the phone and it takes longer than I remember to boot now. There are times when it just wont open some apps or the app will open and immediately close, without an error message. It doesn't respond to swipes to unlock at times. Sometimes I hit the home button to wake it up and the screen will turn on and immediately off again. Same thing happens when I wake it using the power button.
I can't help but to think that the issue is hardware related.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.
I've got a stock Bionic and noticed recently that the home button, when pressed, causes the screen to flicker but never go back to the home screen. This gets "fixed" sometimes if I pull the battery but not all the time. Also, my search button doesn't do anything when pressed either.
I'm confused as to what could have happened to cause these to buttons to stop functioning. I've tried a factory reset as well and that didn't work.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be and/or what I could try to fix these issues?
Thanks!
This happend on my eris and I had to reflash the stock rom to get it to work again. Are you rooted?

Nope. I haven't had a chance to sit down and root the phone.
I was tinkering with the phone and I noticed one thing...if I disabled the pattern and pin lock (I tried it w/both) the two keys would function correctly. When I enabled the lock again they stopped working....weird!
Good evening.
I just can't take it anymore. After updating to Lollipop 1 month ago, at least once a day my phone freezes completely and I can only reboot it.
Most of the time, it happens when I unlock the phone to answer a whatsapp message. When the chat appears, the phone stop responding. It also happen in random cases, but usually just after I have unlocked the phone.
If I press the lock button, the screen goes black and never turn on. If I longpress the button, the screen to reboot or shut down the phone shows up, but not the background or any other app.
After upgrading from Kitkat, I did a factory reset from the menu. With KitKat this Z3C was the best phone I ever had, but now I hate it.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Nobody? Maybe have I to install again Lollipop?

I have exactly the same issue. It happened 3 times in 2 weeks, not so often but still annoying. I bought the phone two weeks ago and it was already with lollipop...

I've discovered that going in full screen mode with power toggles widget I can enter the settings and do whatever I want, but as soon as I exit (even if I just pull down the notification drawer only) it goes back with black screen and only the back key, which is not responding.
Is a Lollipop bug or should I send back the phone to the seller? Factory reset could help, even if it was new?

Hope this helps you out.
As post topic says, my SGS5 Active, has a black screen issue.
The first time it happened, I had received a call and when I got off the phone, the screen would not turn back on.
Download mode was accessible but not recovery mode. And as I've come to believe, if you can get into either one, the phone is still saveable.
So I got into download mode and used Odin to flash the Stock ROM I found on sammobile for my G870A.
I had already used ota to go to 5.1, this took me back to 4.4.2. Which is fine by me.
So afer flashing, phone worked for sometime then for the remainder of this day, it would happen randomly.
It seems if the phone goes to sleep, or I press the block button, or I get a call n the screen goes off during the call, all these things prompt the problem to occur, or a restart with a bootloop or a restart with phone coming on but screen inactive.
Some random times it just happened without warning.
I tried fixes but they all seemed to only work temporarily (removing SD card, still happened while in safe mode, the removal of battery, holding power button for a min, then leave it for 5 min did, etc.) all temporary.
The only sorta permanent fix I've found is keep screen on permanently, but I don't intend to keep that up. Don't want a screen burn.
You know, let me skip to my question.
If I root my phone and put on a custom rom, is it possible this will fix it?
Or for that G900 Nuance back to stock rom which seems popular, that will brick my model correct?
I thank you all in advance for any response, helpful or otherwise, and for taking time to read and respond.
I sometimes miss the simpler days with my Infuse and S2.

Anything is worth a shot, but this sounds like a possible hardware issue. Is the phone still under warranty? If so I'd return it.
Wait, he said he took OTA to 5.1. Is this even out and if so would the 5.1 bootloader be his possible problem?
Hey guys thanks for responding, here's an update.
Issue stIl occurs whenever the phone goes to sleep or randomly when I press the lock button, but I've applied a temporary fix that last for at least a day or more.
I installed No Lock, which supposedly disables my Lock button, so now when I press the button accidentally, it doesn't actually lock, just turns off the screen.
I also installed Stay Alive, it keeps my screen on.
@Sgt.CM
Well I had Odin back to stock 4.4.2 and phone upgraded to 4.4.4 on its own, tho I kept denying it. It's currently asking to upgrade again.
Not on warranty, bought off swappa, need to contact owner if this issue was known.
I'll probably end up rooting it soon. It's really annoying.
This issue has been driving me mad for the past couple weeks. I'm at my wits' end and I need some expert help to figure this out. Please read this post thoroughly to understand my situation, as this is not a simple matter of uninstalling some apps.
When I first got my Note 9, the screen lock button worked perfectly. The screen would immediately turn on when I pressed the button, and it would immediately turn off when I pressed it again. However, once I got the Android Pie update, the screen lock button stopped working properly. The screen still turns on immediately, but there's about a 0.5 second delay after I press the button to turn it off. It's a relatively small issue, but it's enough to bother me.
I attempted to fix this by performing a system reset. But this did not help. In fact, this issue is still present even before completing initial setup of the phone.
When you perform a system reset, the first screen you see when your phone restarts is the welcome screen. It contains a "start" button that you press to begin setup. On this screen, the lock button issue does not happen. My phone locks and unlocks correctly. On the next screen, you connect to a wifi network. After connecting to a wifi network, the lock button issue becomes present. In other words, this issue with the lock button is present before I even start using the OS, or install any apps, or really do anything at all. It seems to be triggered by connecting to a wifi network during setup.
So I figured there must be something wrong with the firmware. So I used Odin to flash an earlier firmware version. This did not solve the issue. I even tried installing an unlocked firmware version, on the offchance that my carrier (AT&T) was doing something weird. This did not help either.
I have no idea where to go from here. I thought that a system reset is supposed to completely wipe everything from your phone, so that it behaves exactly how it did when I first got it. But that's not the case. It seems like something is carrying over that's causing this issue. Does anybody have any idea what I should do?
Do you have lock instantly with power key on?

It is probably the double tap power button to open camera feature. You can toggle it off and locking will be instant.
If its already off, there my be an accessibility service listening key presses.

This delay issue is so silly but it annoys the hell out of me. Where did you turn off this feature in Pie?
Update: Found it. Just use the search box in settings and type in "camera" (or whatever it is in your language). The "double tap power" setting will get listed.
Thanks alot,
Watz
I even turned off the double press for camera app but I'm still noticing a 0.5 sec lag when i press the side key
I even restarted after changing the setting
Nothing is happening
Please help
