Any way to verify battery? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had my Z3C for about a year and the battery swelled up and pushed the back glass off. I've got a replacement battery but I was wondering if there was any way to check whether or not the battery is a counterfeit. Any ideas?

If it has all required labels and descipions then it's genuine. I think there is no sense in faking such battery because it's too unique component to do so.

Cool, thanks!

What do you mean by counterfit? Are you wanting to know if the battery is a genuine OEM replacement or if it truly holds 2600mAh of electrical charge? If you only care about the charge, then you can just check the service menu or download a battery testing app.

Service menu on 5.1.1 does not allow checking the battery capacity anymore :C

UK 1900mh battery

Hi i was in tottenham court road yesterday and came across a battery for the XDAIIs rated at 1900mh. The battery was marked on the back as being for Dopod/XDAIIs which maybe means its from the same source as O2 asia XDAIIs's but no manufacturer and came in a plain white box. Has anyone in asia come across such a battery? If i bought one could it possibly damage my XDAIIs and generally are 3rd party batteries any good? Thanks

Can you let us know the Store Name/Location as I am looking since months desperately to find a replacement battery for the BlueAngel.

Higher mAh has no effect on your BlueAngel, only the Voltage must mach, there a wrong Voltage can fry your Device. But as the Battery for the BlueAngel is so unique in shape, the chances are very high that it matches perfectly and is manufactured for the sole purpose as replacement Battery for the BlueAngel.

This is a very good question. And can not be answered in general. It really depends on the manufacturer. And in 99% of the cases you will hardly know if that is the truth what is printed on the battery. On German TV they show Horror-Scenarios of exploded Cell-Phone Batteries. But in my view this happens more while charging, a battery to explode while using (not using and charging) is highly unrealistic. But nothing is impossible.
3rd Party Batteries are often even better (Cell Phones, DigiCams etc) and to have 2 Batteries is the best thing you can do to a battery! Always use the battery until it is empty and then recharge it fully. So if you do that even with a "bad Battery" in mAh (=Shorter Usage Time) you will get longer Battery-Life of your original Battery. And this is unfortunately true with all Battery-Types (Although they try to tell you that LiON Batteries doe not have a Memory Effect [Same lie was told about NiMH in the beginning]) So constantly charging the Battery in the Cradle or in the Car every night is the worst thing you can do...
The exploding battery scenario is during charging,(mostly with non-oem chargers) or dropping of the phone to a hard surface. As far as battery memory is concerned,Lion batteries do not take a memory set condition as long as they are charged fully before use. Most people charge them the first time until the fully charged indicator comes on. This is wrong!!! You should always charge any battery as described in the owners manual. If it says to charge for a specific length of time, DO IT !!! Do not go by the charging indicator. If you do that, the battery will outlast most other types of batteries.

I think ill risk it and buy one tonight on my way home from work and ill post the details afterwards, i only went into one shop, price was £44.99, ill check other shops for other options. They also had the stock battery for £35, i think
I bought the battery and am charging it, ill give it an overnight charge and test it tomorrow. It fits perfectly and feels solid, difference from the stock battery is that it doesnt have an indentation and is slightly raised at the bottom but it still fits my standard case no problem. I bought it from Inkino, 020 7631 4567

[Q] Charging the battery

hi!
i have a question regarding charing the battery. let's say the xperia z has something like 63% battery left. and i put it on the dock and let it charge up to 100% (or even less, e.g. 90%). and i do this quite often, will it some kind of "damage" or harm the battery, so that the battery life will decrease?
i mean the battery life doesn't seem to be that good, so i plan when coming home to put it on the dock, whether the battery is empty or not. and then when not used, leaving the phone on the doc.
thanks for your help & have a nice day

I heard it's better than discharging to 0% and then charging it back to 100%. Not sure though

That was the case with old-style Nickel-Cadmium batteries, but no phone has used those in a long time. With modern Lithium-based batteries, regularly charging shouldn't be an issue.

thanks for all the answers.
so i can charge it as often and as long as i want, independent from its actual battery status? it won't lose power after time? even if i charge just from 70% to 75%?

It definitely will, my iPod is discharging quicker (at least it seems so) than a year ago when I bought it, and my current phone's battery (8 year old) can last like 20 minutes of talk time

It will lose power after time - all batteries do. You can charge it as long and as often as you want, it doesn't matter. If the battery loses its capacity - remember that Sony covered it under 24 months warranty and you'll get it replaced it its maximum capacity falls down under ~75% of its original capacity.

Do they test it somehow or can I just go to Sony service center every 11 months and get a new battery?

There are free apps on the market that can assess your battery capacity. Of course if you're going to claim warranty - Sony will check it with more accurate methods, but even those free apps can measue your batterys's health quite accurately.
I'm not sure about the 75% number. Might be lower, might be higher. Usually it's set at 80% but i'd have to check that in the warranty itself ( will update the number when i get home )

New spare battery whitout proper temperature reading...

hi,
I have just received a replacement battery, have had a charge discharge cycle, and it look ok.
But I did just figured that the temperature reading is nothing but real :
- put the phone outside at -5°C for 30 min, batterie temp reading :23°C
- put the phone in charge on a QuickCharge 2 charger and go from 20% to 70% : 15°C
It seems to be a common thing on spare replacement batteries to have bad or simply NO temperature sensor.
For my Nexus 5 I have had the same issue.
The question is : is this temperature reading used to stop charging when its getting to much hot or even the phone itself?
Or does the phone itself has its own temp sensor that will shut it down or stop charging?
Edit : the litle white humidity disc checker on the same face as the contact is also missing...
Thanks
I also have a "5000 mah" slim battery, it is showing 23 degree non stop, so obviously not working. It gives me great battery life though.
Yeah the temp sensor is bugged

Yes, it is a slim one. They have relisted it https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1Pc...32664650213.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.e4MP7m. It was gone from the site for about one month.

is the battery life (same usage and apps) better than on original battery?
i think my original battery is degreasing its power it can store, because i am using it ~1,5 years now.
thx

I'd say yes but the TQTHL is way better

My orig bat is still crankin. 1.25 years later. Im impressed
I did this for testing purposes....
With my Original Battery I charged with USB 2.0 Quick Charge and with my LG OEM Battery Charger and I got 2 Hours more with the Battery Charger. My Test: had the screen [email protected] and in the whole time. So 5HRs vs 3HRs
Note: the OEM Battery Charger doesn't have Quick Charge. To my understanding you should always charge slow and not fast. I find these Quick Charge Technology just a gimmick
Now out of curiosity. Are all these batts with incorect temp readings throwing warning aboit device to hot or cold????
No, I have no warnings, it works a bit better than stock, I have 4-5 hours of SOT during 40h time (I charge the phone every other night all night).
My G4 is brick
I need your help
Is that TOTHL battery really 5000mAh? I feel like a lot of those budget extended batteries all lie about capacity.

Too late!! I already bought it, but it wasn't too expensive (2 x $20 usd, shipped)
So far, the same SOT as the stock batteries. I doubt they'll last long, after multiple cycles.
The biggest battery saver has been uninstalling Facebook Messenger...sad.

You do realize these Slim Extended Batteries or and All Extended Battery can't be charged with USB? Time&Time again i keep saying y'all need to buy these Battery Chargers! (Linked in My Thread)
Truth: Either a Chip in the battery, Motherboard via Phone or.... inside the OS Kernel is it's locked @3000mah so if you charge (via USB) a Extended Battery it'll charge only @3000mah and nothing more. I've tested it. Even charging overnight

What's the best battery upgrade?

I recently just bought the 5X and I love it, yet the battery is used so I know it won't perform as good as if it was new, so what's a good battery to get? I'd prefer one that has a larger capacity than the stock, but doesn't require a modded back or anything

I've seen posts with users that performed the LG G2 battery mod (similar to the rage with the Nexus 5). IMO I wouldn't trust a ~3-3.5 year old battery however unless you somehow manage to source late-manufactured parts.
I'm actually looking at doing this myself. My current battery is dying. AccuBattery says my battery health is below 70%, and I'm only holding a 1,900mAh charge instead of the original 2,700mAh. The G2 battery is 3,000mAh. I bought a LG G2 battery (BL-T7), and a spare 5X battery (BL-T19) just in case it all goes south.
Doesn't look too hard to mod the battery, and then it's a drop in replacement. The two batteries are the same physical size, which makes it easier than the Nexus 5, which had a different size battery and required case modding.
I'm not sure how I feel about buying a G2 battery manufactured in 2013, but I doubt I could get a 5x battery made in the past 2 years anyways.

Should I replaceme the battery in my brand new N5X from amazon with one of them, you think they will be better? Haven't opened the unit yet to compare the batteries - what dates of manufacturer do your batteries have guys? any newer than mine?

You will (possibly) have a fresh battery, but the capacity will be the same. Those batteries will be better than the one in your phone, but only because of age difference

Thanks, pretty much what I expected - but only if they are 100% genuine OEM - I read that most of these "OEM" batteries on ebay are just lower MaH batteries with proper stickers on them..

I got one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQZV9ZV/ I figured for $12, I'd give it a shot. I knew it wasn't OEM, so I wasn't going to be offended if it wasn't a full 2,700mAh.
The one I got was manufactured in 2016. It started off with a ~2,400mAh charge, but I think it's already dropped to ~2,200 mAh after a week or so. It's better than the 1,800-1,900mAh I was at before, but not phenomenal.
how do you check capacity between battery swaps?

I am planning to do a little more. I have already ordered a spare battery and a back cover. I will be connecting the second battery in parallel and make a hole in the new battery cover I have ordered. For the hole, I will 3d print a fancy red cover and will stick there with superglue.
I am waiting for my order to reach, then I will update here too the result.

Question replacement battery capacity problem

Hello,
i replaced the battery of my Mi 11 with a original replacement battery and measured the capacity of the new one with a USB meter but the phone doesnt charge even close to the 4600mah. It charges up to 3800mah like the old battery. Does the system limit the charge because it "doesnt know" that there is a new battery? I already hard reseted the phone and also tried different custom roms but it didnt help, I am on xiaomi.eu rom currently.
If you have any idea, ill be glad to hear it.
Thank you!
Prolly the replacement battery isn't original at all. I replaced mine bought from dragon-tt and capacity is 4450mAh. That's how it looks like:

I bought one which turned out to be fake but not only was the battery capacity only about 3800mAh, it also charged really slow.

Yes. As you can see it's original new battery. Charging and capacity is works as the factory battery which came with the phone originally. Bought from dragon-tt.com around 20$. Definitely worth the money!
