Extended Length:
Due to Android's limitations, bootanimations longer than ~65 frames will result in a bootloop if you don't split them up. So I split the longer bootanimations into part0+part1+part2, and then loop them over and over to ensure that they play the entire boot duration and do not end early, resulting in a blank black screen until your phone finished booting up. I have to guess how long everyone's approximate bootup time is, so bootanimations longer than 65 frames will usually take ~20 seconds to fully play out.
---------------------------------------------------------------
If you have a request, feel free to send me a message.
Google Drive folder for those that want to download every bootanimation in this post.

Changes:
2016/01/09: Added first 8 bootanimations
2016/01/31: Removed RGB-Knot Bootanimation because it's length caused a bootloop./ Added Extended Length Section/ Added Torus, Sponsor Planet, Hexagon, AT-AT
2016/02/13: Added PolyHeart, CapturedWave, Flutter, Connections, Celestial Cycles
2016/02/27: Added RGBClock,KickPush

If you can find a .gif of one that loops perfectly I could add it to the thread, otherwise send me a PM with a .gif and I can make a bootanimation out of it.

Thanks man, these are awesome! I'm rocking the fire.

Dumb question, but I can't seem to find the answer searching on Google. I haven't messed around with customizing my phone for over a year now back on my old SGS4. On the Nexus 6 running 6.0.1, I can't seem to get my own boot animation I made actually work. I set up my images, made the desc.txt file by just copying the formatting of the stock one, zipped it as Store method, moved to /system/media and set permissions as they used to be. Am I missing something now as to why it won't show my boot animation when I reboot?
Sent from my Nexus 6

Check for a hidden "thumbs.db" file in your zip. Also, be certain you are using notepad++ to edit the desc.txt as the file must be created using Unix EOL characters.

I personally use Bootanimation Factory, automates it all for me and I don't have to bother with typing out the details. Just name your bootanimation as bootanimation.zip when exporting. Then you can either move it to system/media and set permissions, or just grab one of the bootanimations from here, open it up with 7zip(open, not extract), navigate to system/media and replace my bootanimation.zip with yours. Then flash through recovery.

Aha, Notepad++ is probably what I missed. I'll give it a go tomorrow, thank you for the tip!

Thanks I'll try that out. The manual method still isn't working for me, so I'll just have to use an app I guess haha. Long gone are the days of ICS and easy manual modding.

Odd. Below is the setup of the desc.txt file for my personal boot animation. Compare it to yours and see what's going on.
Code:
1440 2560 20
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
[blank line]

It must be that blank line at the end, I was playing around with the desc.txt for a few of the bootanimations i uploaded today and none of them would play after I made edits in Notepad++.

Along with the Unix EOL markers, the blank line is required.

Great stuff mate! If you find some time please upload more!

Love the cassette, nice work.

[Bootanimation] XDA Developers bootanimation

Hi everyone,
After publishing the wallpaper azrienoch provided the original XDA TV intro .psd files, so I could upload the original. Instead of a wallpaper I created a bootanimation for Android, so here it is;
The bootanimation is created for 480x800 devices, but if you prefer any other resolution feel free to ask for it.

Use Root Explorer or adb to copy the zip file to:
- system/media on CM ROMs

It runs a bit choppy on my HTC HD2, but please let me know on which phones it runs smooth
The attached 40% jpg versions mean the images have reduced quality, so run faster.

I'd love it in a galaxy tab size. And nice work!
I forgot to blur the reflection :/
looks cool.
I would love to see that ported to the Motorola Milestone. Would that be possible?

Wow, this is fantastic!! Makes me want to boot constantly! =D
Hi everyone,
I'm planning om making one for the Milestone, but today is Queens Day in Holland, so I'll be off this weekend .

Brilliant!
Its a bit sluggish on HTC Desire HD (with Gingerbread Sense, ARHD 5.1.1).
This one is a keeper!
Man awsome work this should take off like a rocket, ever seens I first seen it on thre XDA- TV I wanted it on my device just like this. Downloading it now for my TMOUS HTC HD2, every HD2 user should grab this for their HD2 as XDA has made it a legend. Keep up the great work man!
Any chance to make one for the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, 854 x 480pixels?
Got it on my HD2 (GB Sense)...absolutely gorgeous! Maybe a little laggy though (can it be tweaked/optimised at all? )
Would love to see more animation...maybe even loop it or something as it stays motionless for a long time once it's finished.
Love it though, will be keeping it
Guys can you do it for HVGA? (Spica, etc.)
Bootanimation 480x854
I made the bootanimation for 480x854 devices. I wasn't sure if the animation should be either portrait or landscape, so I choose the easy way and made it portrait. Please try it out and report back if it works...
update
Removed attachment. See first post for updated version
Love this boot animation. Though choppy, it looks absolutely crisp. Great job!
I have a couple of suggestions for some variants:
1. After the XDA-Developers logo stops at the center, you could make a glow effect or just fade the background to black. It emphasizes our forum name more.
2. Alternatively, you could do some nice wavy animations for the background, to make it look more dynamic.
Looks great. Thanks

Yea, i would love to see either of these or have the logo sit centered for a moment then continue off the side of the screen and loop, that way it is more smooth.
just flashed kernel so it is taking forever to rebuild caches, some sore of continued animation would be great especially so we can tell if the phone requires a battery pull.
The animation on an HTC EVO 4G running CM7 with a Tiamat SBC 4.0.0 Kernel was a little step-ish, but all together a very nice animation look forward to it getting polished. : )

[BOOTANIMATION] -- Assassin's Creed Killer Boot Animation -- by Camotec

Hi Guys/Gals,
ABOUT:
Ok like many people out there, I am an Assassin's Creed nut so I decided to make a boot animation for my android.
I did this using the stock ICS boot animation as a backdrop with a blood red hue. and then blurred it out to make it look slightly out of focus. I then created an Assassin's Creed Logo in 3D and then gave it a dirty crystal look so the blood red backdrop shows through a little. I made it only spin once because I didn't want a tacky unfinished look (animation stopping halfway through etc.). and on top of that long animations only slow down the boot time of a fast device. I added a delay of a second on the end to just show the logo on a black background while the system loads.

Here is a link to video of the boot animation running on a HTC Vivid/Velocity/Raider
DOWNLOAD: (540x960) -- Click Here
DOWNLOAD: (320x480 MDPI) -- Click Here
DOWNLOAD: (480X854 Motorola Defy) -- Click Here
INSTALL INSTUCTIONS:
It is built for the HTC Vivid/Raider/Velocity at a res of 540x960 however I am led to believe it will work on any device.
- Download the Boot Animation
- Rename the Boot Animation to bootanimation.zip or Telstra_bootanimation.zip (if you are running the Stock Telstra Rom on a rooted phone).
- Use ADB or a GUI app like Droid Explorer to copy the file over the existing bootanimation.zip and then reboot the device.
- Enjoy.
FINAL WORDS:
Boot animations take time to create (when your not just splitting up frames of a video etc).
So if you like it, please hit Thanks.
Depending on the feedback I receive, I might do a few more animations as well.
Cheers

Here, I made a quick preview, maybe you'll find it useful :

Thanks man, I wil replace the video in my main post with the GIF animation. I was lazy so I did a vid lol. (export to youtube is way to easy).
I found an image of the assassin's creed logo, I then traced the outline and turned it into a path (shape) and then imported into Blender (3D Program to extrude and bevel and then exported back out to Photoshop for the final animation work. take a little time but it plays well with the ICS animation in the background.
Cheers

[BOOTANIMATIONS] 100+ Custom Flashable Bootanimations For ALL RESOLUTIONS

Installation:
1) SAMSUNG USERS: Samsung ROMs use a proprietary .QMG format for their boot animations. The bootanimations in this thread will not work with your phone. See HERE for a converting solution.
2) If NOT running a Google/AOSP/LineageOS based ROM, MAKE A TWRP Backup. Especially if your ROM is heavily skinned by your manufacturer.
3) Flash through TWRP or any custom recovery of your choice
4) Profit!
===============================================
NEW OPTIMIZED BOOTANIMATIONS SECTION (Optimized to work with screens of any Resolution)
Select the resolution that is the closest to your device screen. The higher resolution file you download, the larger the bootanimation image will display on your screen. HUGE, HUGE Thanks to androcraze for showing me how to make these so i'm no longer limited to only set resolutions.

[BOOTANIMATIONS] 90+ Custom Flashable Bootanimations For (720p)/(1080p) Devices
===============================================
Classic (OLD) Bootanimations. These are made for a specific screen resolution, and if your phone screen has a higher resolution than the size that you download, you will have white bars around the edges of the bootanimation. These still work great, but they are outdated, sluggish and prone to causing bootloops if they have more than 50ish frames.

If you are running Android M/N ROM, make sure to make a backup before you flash a bootanimation longer than 60 frames. Android M/N ROMS used to have a bootanimation memory allocation bug that would cause the ROM to crash and reboot if the bootanimation file was too large. This has probably been fixed by now, but it's better to be safe than sorry. (If you do end up in a bootloop, flash a bootanimation that is between 5-20 frames long, and that should fix your issue)

Optimized Long Bootanimations:
These bootanimations are broken into parts, and play part by part and then stop on the last frame of the bootanimation and hold that frame until the device finishes booting. (The same way stock Google bootanimations work)
I've tested these out with a couple of different devices including a very ancient first gen Moto G and they worked perfectly.

Great to have so many of these in one place. Thanks for uploading these! Look really slick too, loving the AT-AT walker.
No words !! Some of them are beyond amazing and some indescribable !
Thank you for your work .
hello
can i use this bootanimation in my samsung galaxy s2 with cyanogenemod 12 lolipop 5 ?
@motomotomotoG
Can you please post them in video format (not the previews) but in HD mp4s instead of bootanimation.zips. please man.....you see many people over XDA are now using video bootanjmation so Zips with individual frames are of no use to them.....thanks in anticipation and the previews are really mind blowing......awesome job
i was wondering if i can "install" this if im not rooted... and if i istall it, will i get OTA updates?
thx for your time
And how can I get stock android 5 animation back?
-----
So yes, I got freeze on boot after applying "9th Diary" (quality is awfull by the way). Had to search for default flashable zip
Those are some really great bootanimations. I don't usually make a post to thank someone but this time, I'm making an exception.
These bootanimations are fabulous. Great job!
I must be doing something wrong
These boot animations look great but the links don't seem to work for me. I tried a few different once and nothing seems to come through. Any ideas?
thanks to all
This bootanimations look really nice, but i cant download them too.

That's a really good idea, but sadly most devices don't do mp4 bootanimations that I know of. The only devices I know that work with .mp4 bootanimations are the Motorola Moto G/X series.

Text out one of the smaller bootanimations first, like running coffee or squid and see if that works, then try the one you want. A lot of people have complained that their phone bootloops if they try one of the longer bootanimations and I think that's because of the memory bug found in lollipop. Let me know your results if you decide to test it out.
Can i flash these on my mi3 (indian version)using cwm recovery?

Sadly not.
To change the bootanimation you need access to /system on your phone, and that's impossible to do without root.
You should still be able to receive OTA after changing the bootanimation, but it might get changed to something else when you update if your phone manufacturer decides to give you a new bootanimation.
Doesn't work in Moto G Lollipop. The animation stop in the middle and the Moto G doesn't start.
I hav a rooted mi3(indian) running cwm recovery.
will these bootanimations work for me?

Watch Dogs (CtOS) Boot Animation zip

Hi guys! So i just created a flashable zip for the popular Watchdogs Boot Animation V5. I've created 540p, 720p, 1080p and 1440p Variants with 60fps options for each. If you guys want me to resize to any other resolution let me know. Also if you want me to create flashable boot animations from apks (For CMTE) or apks from flashable animations I'll happily oblige.

Update-1: A 60fps option has been added. Stay tuned for 1080p and 1440p variants.......
Update-2: Uploaded to google drive, ditched XDA's hosting as it was giving me tons of problems. All variants are available in the google drive link.
Update-3: All flashable zips were accidently deleted. I'm working on recreating all of them.
Cool, it's available a 60fps version? *.*

Update: Really thanks, I appreciate your work, I like that game

I've made an N5/1080p version and put it here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53563830&postcount=3
The problem with the N5, and many 1080p devices, is the image size and the number of files in a given folder.
1. For 1080p, I target image sizes not-to-exceed 720x1280 (vertical) or 1080x768 (horizontal); if I don't, the device will lock up, or the animation will crash or behave oddly. Full-screen animations are always 720x1280, scaled in the desc.txt to 1080x1920.
2. Keep the total number of images per folder to 199 or less for non-looping, and 99 or less for a loop; anything more in either case will freeze the device during load.
I used the 720p animation frames, and scaled them up to 1080x1920 in the desc.txt.
Since the 60 FPS animation's first folder (with 323 frames) isn't looped, I split the contents into two folders (part0 and part1), renaming the original part1 to part2. I adjusted the desc.txt accordingly.
Let me know if there are any issues.
Thank you for putting beautiful animations on Android.
Amazing boot animation but is there is any way to resize the 1080p animation for LG G2 the 1080p boot animation doesn't work on LG G2 appreciate it

My version doesn't work?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70727881&postcount=7
It does work but it's the clarity is very bad and the frame rate is too fast any way to make it to 30 fps and improve the clarity. Thank you for your time would appreciate if could fix it
Is there a manual version of the CTos ?
I have a moto x style (1440x2560) running the latest version of RR 7.1.1 rooted but I resized it to 1080p so I can have more performance and battery improvement. But I tried both 1440 and 1080 version flashable and none of them worked (tried throw flashfire and throw TWRP manually). Just a black screen until the lockscreen appears.

"Clarity". What do you mean?
All of the original frames in the animation were rough, regardless of the frame dimensions; artefacts and "jaggies" are prevalent. This is a source issue, and I can't fix it unless someone provides a cleaner source.
As I haven't seen the source, I kept the animation as-is in regards to framerate.
I've created 30FPS flashable versions in 1080p and 1440p. They can be found at the bottom of this post:

What did you have for a default? What screen resolution?

[Bootanimations][Collection]

Hi guys,
I made those bootanimations for my personal use but I thought to share them. They will work on any resolution, but they might be displayed too big or too small depending on your resolution. If you don't like the original size, you can resize them to your liking using the Boot Animation Factory Tool, that I also attached here because the links in the original thread are dead.
Instructions
1 - Rename any downloaded bootanimation to bootanimation
2 - Using a file explorer like Root Explorer, move or copy the downloaded bootanimation to the folder which contains your default bootanimation (e.g. system/media)
3 - Set the bootanimation permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--)
4 - Reboot
Note 1 - They work on AOSP/LOS and probably other roms
Note 2 - They don't work on Samsung stock nor on Samsung stock based roms
Note 3 - I don't take bootanimations requests
Special thanks to @PartimusPrime @despotovski01 and all the artists who made the animations

As the title says, bootanimations. I think you can use them as shutdown animations too, just rename them to shutdown animation or whatever name they have for you, move them to your system/media/ whatever folder you have for shutdown animations, give the right permissions & reboot.
P.S. Added a few more bootanimations

On Samsung devices not working to move into media folder like you said. I' ve read a lot on xda about how to change boot animation on samsung devices and it is complicated. I have a Note 3 Rrunning a Note 7 ported rom based on android marshmallow.
